In the notifications pull-down menu the top left corner has a label dedicated to displaying the carrier's name. Since I never forget which carrier I'm on it's not particularly useful, and I've noticed that many ROMs add an option to change it to a custom piece of text.
I frequently switch between Wi-Fi hotspots and I often want to check which network my phone is connected to. Does anyone know if it's possible to have this label display the Wi-Fi SSID?

Yeah I've been wondering this too. If I get switched over to my 4g hotspot with its limited amount of data per month, it'd be nice to see that.
The ViperLTE rom has this in one of the VenomTweaks. It is a very nice feature.
Look under Tweaks -> Status Bar -> Carrier Label -> Carrier Second Label. Choose "WiFi Status"

I'm using the icbar program on my xda and love it. I'm trying to customize it so it shows the phone icon that is displayed on the normal start bar (the one with the signal strength, etc.). I'm able to get it on their with a default icon (blue square). It functions like this, if you click on it (shows connection options, turn off phone), but doesn't display signal strength, etc. What can I change the icon to so it works correctly?

Well, I e-mailed the author of icbar, and he said that currently it can't do this . So, I was wondering if their is another program (that can be ran from icbar) that would show the signal strength, alerts, etc? Or is their a program similar in function to wisbar/icbar that doesn't cover up the system (?) notifications? I like to know when I have a voicemail
I have moved on to the Vivid as my daily carry, but still have uses for my Aria. I would like to use it as a full time GPS and media device for the car. Is there a way to remove the SIM card and signal strength status bar icons?
You can't know your limits until you exceed them.

I'm not sure why you want to, but you may be able to cook your own (using the UOT Kitchen).
Another option is to hide it from the main screen:
Step 1: Load ADW
Step 2: Open ADW settings
Step 3: Open UI Settings
Step 4: Open Screen Preferences
Step 5: Scroll down to "Advanced settings" and select the option "Hide Status Bar."
This provides the most screen real estate, at least on the home screen.
The other option is to use a custom status bar (from UOT) that is all black or white (or the color of your GPS application). This won't remove it from the screen, but it will at least make it not seen.
One other option is to set the phone into airplane mode. This will remove both the SIM card and signal strength icons, BUT will add an airplane mode icon. This still reduces the number of unwanted icons from 2 to 1 though. ;P
I have found that Sweeter Home has a full screen option. I can then build a fake notification bar (more like a banner) with clock, battery info to provide pertinent info. Come back later for screenshot...

Not going to do what I want. Google map and navigator do not run in full screen, so the status bar shows.

Sounds like you may need to live with the status bar...
Status bar is ok...just don't want those loud blaring irrelevant icons warning me of things I no longer intend to use.

Hi,
I don't really like the way Android (in fact CM13.0) handles the mobile data in the status bar. If I have both WLAN and LTE enabled, I have absolutely no notification that the mobile data is enabled. Then, if I lose the WLAN connection, the mobile data will be automatically used. I have a small network plan so I'd like to avoid it.
The solution would be a status bar icon showing up whenever cellular data is on, whether or not the real connection is WLAN or cellular, on the right side of the status bar, just as all the system icons.
First of all: has anyone already written something like that?
If not: I'd like to create such an application. I know that the right side of the status bar is reserved for system apps. Does it mean that if I install the app, spawning the status bar icon, as a system app, it'll automatically be shown on the right side of the screen?
Besides, is it possible to create a status bar icon without a notification in the notification list? Maybe Xposed would help?
Thanks for answering newbie questions
I'm currently using 2 sims on the dual sim model, and there are 2 signal strength indicators in the status bar to the left of the notch. That leaves practically no room for actual notifications, so I'm wondering if there's a way to hide the signal strength indicator for both carriers I'm on? I've tried using SYSTEMUI Tuner but none of the toggles would hide any of the indicators.
Silly question but did you restart your device after using system ui tuner?
Not a silly question at all, in fact I and not restarted the device after flipping the toggles but in my defence, it was because I could see other indicators appear and disappear in real time so I didn't think it was necessary. Nonetheless I did try to restart after turning off a few items that seem to relate to signal strength but still no dice. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I am having the same issue, looks like you can only have one notification for the dual sim version. I assume the only solution is to use the number of notifications option rather than the icon, given that only one icon will appear at a time. For example, I set up call forwarding and despite having several notifications, only the CF icon appears in the bar. If you add Network Speed then none will.
Hello,
I don't know if this is a bug, a "feature" or just my device but would anyone be able to check their "Call & Text on other devices" Quick Panel icon to see if it toggles the feature on or off and let me know? Mine takes me to the settings. I used to have it enabled all the time on my phone and I would toggle it on the tablet as required. That way I get to enable it only when I need to use it on the tablet.
Since migrating to my S23 U from my S22 U and updating my tablet to One UI 5.1, the option now takes me to the settings page instead of simply toggling the feature. This is the case on both the phone and the tablet (S8 +) so I think it's either a bug or a "feature"
Thanks in advance
I don't have a S23u, but a S22u and tab s8 ultra...my s22u was setup with call & text with the tabs s8ultra. worked like a charm. My s22u screen broke and sent in for repairs. I used an old s9+ lying around. For some reason it asked me to change to s9+ for call & text. I ignored the pop up...when I got my s22u back call & text was disabled. When opening call & text I had to re-register/configure my s22u for call & text as it automatically changed it to my s9+, although it never worked on s9+. After changing settings it worked on s22u and tab s8u. re-register/configure call & text

Yes, the same. The icon is not activated (disabled) although the function itself is enabled. When pressed, it jumps to the Settings of this function, where Calls on other devices and Messages on other devices are now separated. In Calls, my GW5Pro watch and in Messages - empty!
Google messages has this bug that keeps any notice below sms screen flickering forever.
Looks like they modified the Quick Panel icon to take you to the settings so that you can toggle individual options i.e. call and/or text on other devices. I can see how that could be useful but I really miss the ability to simply keep the feature "on" on the phone and toggle it on/off on the tablet as required.
I would have preferred two icons one to toggle calls and one to toggle texts if they wanted to give users the option instead of the extra steps especially since it's called the Quick Panel for a reason lol
Thanks for looking guys. I really appreciate it
