They will if you send yours back. That's a bummer man. Mine just fell out of my pocket, so I had a little heart attack. Thank God for soft carpets though.

They have to give you a brand new unit the first 30 days after owning the purchase. After that, you'll get a Refurb.

Of course, that can be a bane too. I've seen Assurion make my mom wait until refurbs came into stock.

Noooo.. I feel ya bro. Thats my worst nightmare. My poor poor GNex was put through the ringer, last thing I wanna do is see cracks on this screen.

Maybe its a blessing because this ones been having an issue with WiFi 4g handoff.

Did you purchase it with a credit card? Amex has 90 day accidental damage protection. Some Visas and Mastercards also offer accidental damage protection. Might at least cover the deductible.

and this is exactly why I bought the bestbuy insurance, and not verizons. It cost $1 more, and you just bring in any part of your phone no matter how damaged it is, and they will take it, and ship one to you next-day air, for no extra cost or any kind of deductible. It covers EVERYTHING, even if it was your fault, they take it back, no questions asked. I highly recommend it. I cracked the screen on my gnex. I walked into the store, they don't even power on the device, they just pull out the battery and sim for you to keep, have you sign a form, and you will have your new phone in 1-2 days. Maybe if its new enough or popular enough they might just swap it out in the store, but im not sure about that.

LOL, did they sell it to you as next day fed-ex? They lied!
Try 2-5 business days. I know, I have used Black Tie for two phones now.
If they don't have refurbs available, it can take even longer.
Thunderbolt took 30 days due to them screwing up.
Gnex # 1 took 4 days due to no refurbs available.
Gnex # 2 remains to be seen. I turned it in on Saturday.
They both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Black Tie costs more than Assurion by 2 dollars a month but has no deductible and does not limit returns. Assurion limits to two claims a year.
Black Tie does not cover theft or loss, while Assurion does.
Black Tie typically takes 2-5 days for a rapid exchange, but can take up to 30 days. In that case, they give you a new phone. Assurion does next day delivery via FedEx. Typically if refurbs are MIA, they go new. However they too can delay shipping if no refurbs are available (never had it happen by my mom did). You can also choose to be sent a different device instead of waiting for the replacements to come back in stock.
Assurion phones retain a warranty, whereas Black Tie refurbs do not (their words, not mine).
Black Tie is good for one year tops, whereas Assurion is tied to line and keeps going, and going, and going and...

This so much. I worked at Best Buy for years.
Their selling point is that it's "so quick", It's UPS ground from their 3rd party refurb company which at least used to be in Texas.
So it's 2-5 BUSINESS days.
And man if I had counted how many refurbs came back not working. My own phone went out 3 times (2 times because their refurbs had non functioning parts), my sister's iPhone went out from water damage, came back missing pixels. How does their quality check miss such things?
Best Buy tries to give you a "loaner phone" that they tout, what they don't tell you? It's $50 refundable deposit for a "feature phone", or $100 for a smartphone. What's worse? If you have unlimited, you have to go for their half destroyed "smart"phones circa 2008 LG. Probably won't come with a charger or they'll accuse you of keeping it and make you purchase a new one at around 60% markup to 'replace the one you stole', even if they clearly knew the loaner never had one to begin with. And that was working at a "more honest" Best Buy.
Your phone is shipped in a little box with barely any protective covering, if any sometimes. The usual packaging? Cardboard with tight plastic holding it in place. Would you treat your electronics like this? Well Best Buy does.
Assurion covers loss and theft. Yes you pay $100 deductible, but better than paying $599.99 + tax to replace a (ie: ) 2 mo old phone.
Assurion has true next day (my girlfriend after having her phone stolen, had a refurb literally next day, even on a weekend).
edit: typo fixes

Oh man. I forgot about the loaner phones! They tried to get me with this tiny LG Vortex for my Thunderbolt, and again for my Galaxy Nexus. I was sooo angry. I ended up getting a Thunderbolt loaner (with no deposit) back when the Thunderbolt fiasco happened, but that was because they dropped the ball, and I made a huge stink with corporate. I didn't even bother with the Gnex. Better to go phone-less than be stuck with that junk.
I remember seeing them unpacking my first Gnex replacement too. Just like you said, plastic wrapping on cardboard.

well this makes a good case for people getting a case lol

[Q] Vendor with Best Insurance Option

My wife and I will be looking to renew our unlimited contract and we're going with the rezound. Since replacing these phones (as a result of loss or damage) is becoming increasingly expensive, I'm looking to see which vendor has the best insurance package. Can anyone shed some light on what's available? I don't mind spending an extra $50 for the device (for example Best Buy at $300 vs. Amazon at $250) if the insurance will protect us better.
What insurance has the community gone with to minimize replacement expenses in the case of a lost, stolen or broken device? And please don't say "just don't lose or drop your phone."
Thanks!

I just was doing some research about this also since I was not happy with my experience with Asurion. After looking around I found "Securranty" that insures phones also. Doesn't matter to them where you buy the device. They claimed on the call with me they will still warranty an unlocked phone. The price seemed fair and I couldn't find anything bad about the company while digging around which seemed crazy. Couple things that should be noted is they are fairly new so they just started retailing insurance like 2 years ago. Probably why there isn't much feedback on their service. Also they do have deductibles that should be looked at (the size of the deductible depends on the claim). You can find all that info on their website. I have never used this company before but I am insuring my Rezound through them.
you should look into squaretrade as well.
I know this might not be the most cost effective choice and I'm still open to change but... I use Verizon's full insurance coverage (mostly through Asurion) because if I have mechanical failure, I can just bring it to a Verizon store and get a replacement on the spot (at least that's my understanding).
As for loss/theft, I have to depend on Asurion. I have had one experience with them many years ago and it was fine. Although, I don't know my deductible but I'm sure it's high.
That's my arrangement now.
Best Buy has black tie. Kind of like Asurion but no deductible.

Ok, I checked Squaretrade. It looks like $124 for two years for any Android phone. That's $5.17/month. I am paying $7/month so that's a $1.84 savings. It pans out to saving about $44 over 2 years.
That's a reasonable savings but ... it says it pays for 100% of repairs. Where do you get a phone repaired? (I hope that's not too stupid of a question)

Yea, but it also says 100$ replacement fee, which means if you replace it once, your paying the same for 2 replacements through verizon. So technically you aren't saving any money... just food for thought.

Warranty Terms & Conditions

This is strait from their page. It says they don't cover lost or stolen phones either. I would stay away from them and try with securranty. They seem to be a better deal. Or stay with asurion.
I think that fact that Securranty says they will replace an unlocked phone is a big deal and should be a consideration. I'm not positive but from what I could find the other companies don't say they will do that.
There are a lot of coupons for squaretrade that will save you 30%. Just google it.

I think you might be thinking about warranty service, not insurance. I've never had a problem with insurance replacing something that wasn't covered under warranty service(water, physical damage, etc).
I've gotten Square Trade for other items, never had to file a claim, but for phones they barely cover anything and with their deductible I don't think it's worth it at all. I was going to go without rather than get theirs.
I might sign up for Securranty though. I've never actually lost or broken a phone so I'm hesitant to bother with insurance, but considering this is $650 to replace and I only paid a penny I might do it. Looked into Assurion and seems you have to sign up within 30 days from purchase date, I don't remember seeing that at the time of purchase. With Securranty you have up until 90 days before mfr warranty runs out but if you get accidental damage or loss/theft there's a waiting period for that.
Also, you should be able to find a coupon online for Securranty for about 10-15% off if they are still valid and working.
I spoke to Securranty today, and signed up after speaking to them for about 15 minutes. Two years cost me $150, and they gave me a coupon code for 15% off, bringing two years down to 122. They've got an A rating from the Better Business Bureau, and you can cancel anytime. They told me they'll warranty a rooted phone no problem, and showed it to me in writing on their website. As for deductibles, if there's a warranty issue related to hardware, there's no deductible and you get unlimited claims of this type. Plus, if you have 3 of the same claims for the same problem, you're eligible to have it replaced with a different phone. If you damage your phone, or even fully submerse it in water, the deductible is $50, and you are limited to 3 of these a year. If you lose your phone, or it's stolen, the deductible is $145, and you only get one of these, but that's not a problem for me, since I've never lost a phone. Just some information for those interested.

According to the Securranty website under their FAQ's>Claims FAQ>How much is my deductible?:
Accidental Damage and Handling claims (ADH): $50
Full Immerision Deductible: $145 <<-- Submerse in water
Loss and Theft claims (LT): $145
I do my business at TCC- The Cellular Connection. They have locations throughout the country so I'm sure there is one near you. Being its a third party store, they set their own prices...often offering a discount on a phone if you buy their insurance , which is $99 for two years....no monthly bill. The deductible for a NEW phone is only $40...promised brand new...when I shattered my DINC's screen, I got a brand new DINC2(*fantasizing about what future 4G HTC phone I will get for 40 bucks in the future ). The insurance covers everything, from water damage, lost/stolen/broken screen. Another thing I like about TCC is I can wheel and deal! lol...go ahead, cut em down on a cell phone case!
They also do price comparisons which is cool...I got the nexus on launch day for $185 after telling them about amazon's price...and when I exchanged the nexus for the rezound, they kept the price and simply sent me on my way with the rezound...no restocking fee either :]

I know where a couple of those are around here. I thought they were affiliated with Sprint though. Guess I was wrong. Seems like a good deal though for sure! I might swing in one tomorrow and see what all they offer. It would be nice to switch all 4 of my lines away from Assurion. $400 up front would be nice to cut, especially when I am paying what $6.99 * 4 * 24 = $671. Does it carry over to your next device? I don't plan to have a Rezound in 2014, just saying, lol.

Crazy, there are 6 stores in South Bend/Mishawaka alone, lol.
I work for best buy mobile and can give you some information on our insurance. Gonna give you the good and the bad since no insurance is perfect.
-$9.99 a month
-No deductible ever
-Unilimited number of claims
-Loaner phone issued when phone is out to service
-Covers the battery, physical, water damage and wear and tear.
-Does not cover cosmetic damage (things that don't affect the functionality of the phone, like scuffs or scratches on the device)
2 options when your phone is broken:
A) Do what is called "Rapid Exchange" where a replacement phone is sent. This replacement phone can be a new one, a refurbished one, or a phone another customer returned because they didn't like it, it gave them issues, etc. There is absolutely no way to tell what kind of phone you will get. Your replacement phone arrives within 4 business days, 98% of the time. 9 out of 10 times, the replacement phone has no issues and you can't even tell it's refurbished. But I have seen bad phones come back.
B) You can ask for your phone to be repaired. This can take anywhere from 2-5 weeks, but the good thing is you will get your phone back, not a replacement phone. Keep in mind you do have a loaner phone during this time, but there is no guarantee this phone will even be a smartphone.
Since there is no deductible, Best Buy doesn't cover loss or theft, you have to be able to bring the phone into the store. Also, technically speaking and according to the legal terms and conditions, it is possible for a phone to be "too damaged" to be accepted under the insurance. The definition of "too damaged" depends on who's working and what mood they're in. Also, most best buys won't accept your phone if it's obviously rooted (i.e. de-sensed). Try to restore it before taking it in. Those are my 2 cents, PM with any specific questions.

Best Buy's Black Tie Insurance No longer has "3 Lemon" clause

Short story: Best Buy no longer allows "3 lemons = new phone". One of the best benefits of their insurance plan is gone...
Long story:
About 2 months ago. My girlfriend decided she wanted her latest Evo 4G (already a refurb from Best Buy.) turned in for another because of the screen separation issue that started to creep up slowly. We took it in under our Black Tie Insurance plan which, at that point, we loved. showed them the issue, got it shipped off. Few days later, got one in return. As soon as I saw the phone, I could tell this one was having the same issue I just returned the other phone for. I instantly told them that this one was going to do the same thing and wanted it returned, before even activating it. They said OK, shipped back again. (2 times now.) few days later, the other comes in. I check the screen...and **** you not, screen was doing the exact same thing. I had written down the previous serial just to make sure they weren't 'effing with me. nope, they didn't match. So, I show them, they are wishy washy about it but take it back and left huge notes in capital letters "SCREEN COMING UP, DO NOT SEND ONE LIKE THIS". So, we wait again. (3 phone.) Few days later, get the call. Go in, look at phone... and as SOON as she opens the box, without even taking off the protective film I could tell it was screwed up. Not only was the bottom left hand corner coming up, like all the others. The whole bottom half of the phone was coming off. I verbally digressed "Are you ****ting me?" showed them the phone and they instantly go "Oh wow." it was that bad. I ask about the new phone policy and how I've had to ship these out 3 times, this being the forth. They state "We don't get new evo's anymore" I go "That's fine, a phone of equal value will work. She says she wouldn't mind a Design 4G, looking over specs, I personally feel it comes out as less than equal value, but she's fine with it. They state they don't have the policy anymore and it was removed at the beginning of the year. I, rather upset, state I've been dealing with this crap since November and just because I missed 3 crappy refurbs before their cut off shouldn't mean I have to suffer. Her suggestion? try Sprint. yeah. it's past 1 year, so that's a laughable suggestion... also, given that I'm paying you for insurance!. I asked to speak to the manager who suggested the same thing!. try sprint or keeping spinning the roulette wheel for a decent refurb. My only real option was the roulette wheel. This time, the Manager left notes, put a ticker on the glass of the phone with a huge ARROW pointing to the bottom of the phone that read "DO NOT SEND ANOTHER LIKE THIS EVER." Then, on the paperwork, stated my many attempts, how disappointed he was and how this next one better be checked multiple times before being shipped.
So, we picked up her phone tonight... all "seems" OK so far, guess I get to wait and see if the screen starts coming up or not.
I love how they just want to have a green light to do a sloppy job and not get hit with the consequence of it.
I personally will never again buy their insurance, after one of my old phones ended spending 3 trips and 5 months in their repair center ...

Well if they aren't going to give you a brand new phone, just keep sending the broken ones back and keep trying. Eventually they will realize it's costing them more in shipping costs than it would to just give you a new phone. Maybe try going to another Best Buy as well.
And I know exactly what you are talking about. I made a claim with Asurion in December, and it took 4 refurb evo's, that were all bad, and then they finally gave me a new 3D. The first two had screen separation, with one of them the glass was actually completely separated, like I could take my finger and lift the entire glass off the phone. The other two both had a broken vibrator out of the box, and both of them had two of the four touch button lights that weren't lighting up at all. I really can't believe they actually ship these phones out to people like this without a simple look-over to find issues like this.
Oh, how I love Sprint's TEP. My phones get fixed or replaced, no questions asked.
Does the HTC warranty start over with the "new" device you received? I mean it's a new to you device replaced under a repair, so I was just curious?

Last year when Sprint finally gave me a new Evo after 5 bad refurbs, they told me the warranty would be 90 days OR the remainder of the 1 year from the original phone purchase date, whichever comes first.

That sounds like a pretty standard policy. I figured that might be the case.

I know at sprint sometimes is a game of chance on refurbished units back on the EVO days I had to swap my 2month old phone out due to blue spots in the screen they wouldn't fix it. Lol pain dealing with refurbished units sometimes you get lucky other times it is a gamble .
Lol I would rather keep my original phone and just repair it my self lol.
lol, im glad this post is here because i actually have some clarification and this applies to me.
so i dropped my 3vo in water the other day for a split second, and it dried out just fine. this was about 2 weeks ago. i wasnt having issues at all until yesterday. apparently the digitizer is screwed so being an employee at best buy, i knew i had coverage and i bought the BTP out right so i had plenty of replacements. i took it in, and my buddy took a look at it and he confirmed the screen was wonky. but then he said it was rooted, and that they dont accept that. so of course i went outside and smahed the phones screen to bits to where both the inner and outer layer of the screen were shattered and you couldnt see the screen at all.
anyways, what i am getting at...
if the phone has water damage, or any type of replacement issues they pretty much rip the phone out and the only thing brand new you get back is the shell of the phone and they replace whatever is messed up.
but if the phone screen is completely shattered it is a instant replacement with a new phone, which is good because it "shouldnt" be a refurb. this is a new policy that is actually inside info.

Wait, can you tell me some about TEP's current policies? I chose bestbuy but I'm probably going to switch when I get my new phone. Last time I called about TEP was 3 years ago, so...
-Does TEP still charge $100 for broken phones?
-Does TEP give new or refurbished phones?
-If refurbished, is it at the store or does it take 20 years to arrive?
-With TEP, do they replace it no questions asked?
I knew bestbuy's prices were jacked up like **** but now the insurance... really...
Thanks

As far as I know they only charge the fee if there is physical damage, water damage, or if it lost or stolen. If you take the phone to a corporate store with a repair center they will fix it for free and if it cannot be fixed then it is replaced with a refurbished phone. Personally I used to work for both companies and I think that TEP is much better than best buy's insurance policy.

Best Buy Black Tie

Just a heads up, my recent experiences with Best Buy's warranty service. Extremely positive.
Broke my Streak last wednesday while shuffling papers on my desk at work. Detoured to Best Buy on my way home, expected to use their horrible Experia loaner phone for 3 days and get a crispy Streak in return (not my first rodeo). Nope. Either a white streak (no. I work in the tire business. Even though I'm in an office, I do venture out into the warehouse. white things never last here) or another android phone with a small screen. I explain to them why each of those is unacceptable, they tell me it's that or pound sand until I'm up for a contract in July. They were all very professional, they worded it nicely enough, and used corporate rules and regulations to explain why they would like to help my but are powerless. I ask them if there would be somebody who could make decisions like that. They say the GM can, and page for a manager. The acting GM comes over and makes an ass out of himself, and runs off to call the manager. Boom, instant approval.
The CSR's were not too up on getting the Note as a replacement for my Streak in the store, they didn't know how to do it, the (acting) store manager was a bit of a tool, but they got through the replacement process from Black Tie. It took a few minutes, and a couple (hundred) dollars from me, but I was able to get the Note for a reduced price because they did not have any Streaks available.
That was Wednesday. Saturday, the phone was hard bricked. I walked in, they did an R&R and gave me a brand new Note. No questions, they didn't care how it happened, they just took the phone and tried a couple of leads to the wall and to a computer and nothing worked. They remembered me, he opens the locker, pulls a box out, voila, brand new phone.
At the end of the process, I asked if we needed to update my black tie plan, and they explained that the black tie system references SKU's not IMEI's. Sounds like a deal if I ever want to add another line for a family member and get them a Note... Not that I haven't gotten every penny's worth out of it already.
tl;dr, cliffs:
If you speak nicely, act professional, and keep everybody happy, good things will happen.
If you have one Note, buy Black Tie for it.
If you have more than one Note, buy Black Tie for one of them. Just swap SIM cards when you break the uninsured one.
I work at best buy mobile and typically in that case we would have to escalate it and get it approved for a junk out that would pretty much give you the liberty to buy any device in the store for the full retail value of the streak when you purchased it since the streak is discontinued. If there was a difference in price you would have to pay out of pocket. It would probably take a few days to approve but it is possible. Thats why i always recommend it because having blacktie gives us a lot of options to help customers out. Big plus: no deductible! Im glad to see the outcome of your store visit, I would recommend to always go to the besy buy mobiles we are typically better trained and willing to help than the big boxes

First time you break a screen, your stomach sinks. Then you'll be so stoked you pay that $10/mo
Pretty much it pays for it self. That's the beauty if insurance.
When I had my infuse, I dropped it and broke the LCD and no insurance on it so I had to pay full price for a new one.
I'm not taking any chances this time.
How often are the broken devices "junked out" insted of repaired? Is it possible to use the black tie protection to strategically upgrade when your phone is say 1 year into your 2 year contract?
I tried getting black tie for my note but they wouldnt let me buy it because I did not purchase the note for them... I was very dissapointed. Anybody else got turned down?

I've been delaying taking my phone into Best Buy to have it replaced. Lots of issues going on that I think stem from having dropped. One thing I will say... the Note is one TOUGH phone! So much for cheap, plastic Samsung phones.
I was walking down a busy city street one day, and I had to whip my phone out to send a quick text. Due to the slippery backing of the Note, the phone just slipped through my hands and into the air. I was unable to prevent what happened next. From a distance of perhaps 3 or 3.5ft, my Note smashed into a hard concrete sidewalk, cartwheeled about three times, and settled on the ground face down. I was just sure my phone was not only f-ed up, but the screen was shattered to pieces. Imagine my surprise when I picked the phone up, and the screen was flawless. A tiny piece of plastic sort of broke off in the extreme upper right corner of the phone where it curves on the edges, but other than that... the phone was flawless on the front. The back was even more amazing... not one scratch on the back cover. The only damage was on three of the four rounded sides of the phone, where the Note made contact with the ground when it cartwheeled. It's scratched on three of the sides, but that's it. The rest of the phone was flawless.
But, ever since then, I've been having on-going problems with the phone. It randomly reboots and even completely shuts its self off, all of the time. I missed a very important doctors appointment two Monday's ago, because even though my Note had a full battery when I took it off the charger a few hours before I awoke that morning... the Note somehow turned its self off. It didn't restart... it simply shutdown and stayed off. I woke up way after I was supposed to, and that's when I found out the Note had turned its self off. The next Monday, it did the same damn thing! Turned its self off overnight. Luckily, I coincidentally had awoken naturally, just around the time the alarm on the Note should have gone off. I was pissed.
Another issue is the reboots. I've noticed that once my battery gets down to around 25-26%, my Note will go into a very strange, endless reboot cycle. It will reboot its self and then go to the home screen. It will take several minutes for the screen to fully load all of the home screen icons and wallpaper, and just when it seems like the phone is fully functional... it will reboot its self and the cycle repeats. I have to charge the phone significantly before it will finally stop the chaotic reboot sequence.
One of the three gold prongs inside of the battery case that's supposed to contact with the gold plates on the top of the Note's battery, is almost completely broken off. Sometimes the phone will not power on because it won't read the battery. And the back cover is pretty much done for. Most of the attachments that keep the battery cover secured to the back of the phone, have broken off.
And, performance-wise, the Note is really good at times, but other times it makes you want to throw it at a wall. The lag becomes unbearable and you can't use the phone at all, because it will eventually start to freeze at every command. The only way to fix the issue is to do a battery pull.
I do have the Black Tie Protection, but I've heard various responses as to whether or not BB will simply give me a new Note or give me a bunch of B.S. which may involve getting a refurbished phone if they do decide to exchange it. I would like to demand BB replace the Note, due to the fake they screwed me over on my first Note which turned out to be defective. BB kept giving me the run-around and excuses as to why they couldn't and wouldn't replace my Note. Mind you, I was still within the 30-day trial period. When I finally had to resort to calling AT&T about the issue, AT&T was extremely upset with BB for not honoring their 30-day, no questions asked policy. AT&T had to grant me an exception, and replace the phone for me at an AT&T Store, even though I originally bought the Note from BB. So, BB can consider this fulfilling their obligation, by giving me a new Note when I finally can take it in. I just don't want a bunch of B.S. and excuses. I've never used my Black Tie Protection before or on any other phones to know how it works.
I had BlackTie on my Samsung Captivate. I believe, if the phone appears repairable, they will ship it out for repair rather than exchanging it. The first approach is usually to attempt a repair. If the phone doesn't get repaired they will replace it. I bought my Notes from RadioShack so no BlackTie but then I only used BlackTie to try to get the GPS repaired on my Captivate which couldn't be done and BB said I had to deal with Samsung on that issue and so I cancelled BT and got ATT to sell me an Inspire under my old contract date.
Covers "everything" except for lost/stolen and complete water submission?
So if the phone was in several pieces... It would be covered?
I don't see why anyone would bring a phone in to be "repaired," knowing that it could take days or weeks when they could bring in a phone which can NOT be repaired and simply walk out of the store with a new or refurb phone.

You are not going to see this happen on a note for a while. I was able to get them to upgrade me to the Note from my Streak, but that's because the streak hadn't been for sale for some time, and the refurbs at the warehouses weren't there.
I also, have never had a problem walking in with a phone with a broken screen, and getting a "different" refurb 3 days later. I am not SURE it is a different unit, but they gave the option of getting my phone back in 2 weeks, or a refurb in 3 days, I thought the choice was pretty clear. Especially because a refurb is usually in better condition than a phone that's been dropped a couple of times.

Built to chew

***PICS ON 2nd PAGE***
Woke up this morning to find one of our dogs made a chewing toy of my wife's HTC Amaze. Thankfully we opted for insurance with TMobile. We still have to pay a $130 deductible (which sucks) but at least they let us keep the battery, charger and other accessories. I'm hoping they are sending a complete packaged phone so we with have extra of everything.
Anyone else ever had to use their insurance?
**EDIT**
They replaced it with a NEW sealed Amaze accessories and all!!
Way to go Asurion!
I did once with mt4g. Deductible was almost as high as the price I paid for the phone. They didn't send extra goodies unfortunately... Just the device itself (no battery, charger, etc....)
Sent from my HTC Ruby running Sense 3.6
same here. when I warrantied my MT4G in JAN of 2010, all they sent was the phone itself minus battery, battery cover, and charger. and I had even told them (and showed local Corp. store) the charger no longer worked, their response to that on the phone was go to local TMO store and get a new one, local store charged me full price for it. Good luck.
No extras here on my MT4G either, nor the 3 9700's I went threw.

Well Asurion Insurance pulled through. SEALED untouched new HTC Amaze 4G all accessories included!

They told me they try to send new phones if they are available but we could receive new or refurbished.
I asked the rep to please note I was requesting NEW even though I know she could not make any guarantees. Excellent!

It all depends on how it is replaced, it seems. My wifes G2x was replaced by T-Mobile about 6 months ago for a defect and they sent the phone only without the battery or even the back cover.
I just had by phone replaced by Asurion (I dropped it and cracked the screen)and they sent a out a kit with everything. It has the battery, charge, and all.
The other was a free replacement and this one cost $130. I would have much rather purchased a battery and charger!
Something no one seems to have considered yet - yes, the $130 deductible isn't pleasant, but its a whole lot more pleasant than paying $500-$600 that would be the only option (aside from buying a phone without a warantee via craigslist or adding a ghostline with data/changing one's phone number to that ghostline if you're even able to remove data from your existing line to begin with etc etc) while still on the contract (or installment plan) tied to your device.
Also, someone said something about how Asurion hadn't sent a charger out even after having shown a retail sales associate how the charger was mangled. I agree it sucks that the insurance didn't send a charger in that case, but the sales associate has little to no control over what an Asurion employee can send out on a claim. The asurion employee themselves have little to no control either for that matter. I'm not meaning to judge, only to educate.
In no way shape or form do I represent any particular company, but I will say that I do get benefits that allow me two discounted phones per year, and in light of that I STILL carry full protection on both mine and my girlfriend's phone. $130 is a lot easier to swallow for a phone that will still be covered by warantee than any other option available on the spot. =)

Just in case people missed this little bit of info. I got a brand new, sealed, accessories and all Amaze sent to me yesterday morning.
I cannot speak for everyone else but in my personal experience Asurion delivered!
I had to replace my first amaze and was sent a new box complete with charger battery headphones etc. At the time the phone had been released for only a month so I was expecting a new box, but as shelf stock drops, and they start fixing the phones that have been turned in, you get more of the 'refurbished' stock that they need to get rid of.
When I replaced my first Amaze I had to send back the unit only and reuse my battery and back cover...very strange...if I wanted a new back cover I had to get it directly from HTC
- being Scottish means I like to hang 'em out and rock it like I'm William Wallace on an Amaze 4G
Did you have to return the chewed up one?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
Let's face it. It's the device that's malfunctioning... Not the battery. Not the back. Ive never understood what the big deal is unless your back is totally mangled or scratched up which would be understandable, (yet preventable through proper care). Long as the replacement phone is sufficiently functional. I won't say there aren't any bad eggs cuz I know from experience there are... But in the last 6 year's of having t mobile, I've probably had about 15-20 different phones and an average of one or two exchanges for some of those devices. If I've had approx 6 or 7 exchanges, I've only had one or two tines in which the replacement device wasn't acceptible. It's a hotbot a hassle to have to send a phone right back, so I understand, but from ky experience a bad exchange isn't all that common.
Concern is understandable, but its a bit paranoid to make a huge deal outbid getting a phone-only exchange in my opinion (no offense intended). A lotbof these phone-only exchanges also happen to be nearly brand new devices that were returns from buyers remoslrse periods. And most of those remorse returns are from ficle consumers who are merely picky and indecisive.

Well Already Shattered the Screen

It is amazing to me that we are on the verge of commercially available flexible tv, tablet, computer screens but no one can produce a phone screen that can withstand a two foot drop. Luckily I had best buy insurance and they are sending me a brand new phone since they have not been out long enough for refurbished ones.

Best Buy insurance on the surface seems great but if your phone is lost or stolen they don't cover it. To me that is a deal breaker. I've had phones stolen or even cracked the screen and just filed and insurance claim and used the cracked phone as a developer device not the greatest thing to do but hell I paid for the phone and insurance every month so whatever. I will keep my sprint insurance. They cover everything best buy does without a deductible besides water damage and a cracked screen.

How did you keep the phone....you're suppose to send it back unless it's loss or stolen otherwise it's insurance fraud... contributing to the increase in deductibles for everyone else... The deductible is currently $100 but increases to $150 soon...check my thread on my asurion claim

Thankfully none yet. I have Sprint's TEP which for now is $8 a month but will be increasing to $11. It covers pretty much anything including water damage as I dropped my 3D in a bath while in an Ambien induced haze. Just paid $100 deductible and actually got a brand new phone, still had Hboot 1.40 thankfully since 1.50 was not downgradeable at the time

I think they take effect in four days. $11/mth and $150 deductible on a $549 phone seems kinda expensive for a refurb that probably has issues as well. That's why I am debating between Best Buy's service plan and Sprint's. I've never lost a phone or had one stolen either. I just think after 10 months of Sprint's service, you would have paid $260. The question is can you find a used Evo LTE for less than that? I think so.
Also, I like that BB tries to fix your phone...so, you don't get refurb issues.

Yes you are correct let's drop the fraud talk tho pls. Just cause everyone always gets their panties in a bunch when it comes to that
It shouldn't have been 150 as those prices haven't taken effect yet

Why do we have to drop the fraud talk? It is fraud. I don't care if people get their panties in a bunch... It is stealing, defrauding, and lying.
Having said that. I use the Sprint insurance. I like having a "new" device NDAd to me. Saves me a lot of hassle with employees losing and or damaging their phones.

That is true!! For that very reason I dumped Sprints TEP....
So many of these threads started, and 99% of the people who create them will not take responsibility for their actions. Do they really need to make an idiot-proof phone? If you can't take responsibility for your actions of dropping the phone (whatever the distance if it's a foot or 150 feet), you shouldn't make threads complaining that they're too easy to break. Can we lock this thread?
Best Buy insurance sounds nice but after the ordeal my girlfriend went through with them, and other horror stories I've read kept me far away...
Her phone screen broke (Epic 4G) and I finally convinced her to bring it in since she was paying insurance for it anyway. Well they had it for TWO MONTHS, and after frequent calls and instore visits (where they basically told her to F off) they finally got her a new device. Oh, and they gave her a refurb which had a loose screen with a lopsided bezel. The screen started acting up and wouldnt respond to touch and got weird colors within a week. They also lost the battery cover to her phone and they wanted her to pay for it (BB eventually replaced it). Thankfully the second refurb they gave her was fine and she dropped their coverage.
