hi i unlocked my MT11i bootloader the very next day i got my phone but i was in .42 firmware now my friend 1 year old MT11i wants me to unlock his bootloader and is running .77 stock
i jus want to clear that i cant unlock the bootloader in the same way i did using s1 tool on .77 4.0.4 firmware or i need to do some extra steps or i need to downgrade it to .62 gingerbread
apart from that will there be any prob downgrading to .62/.42 girngerbread firmware
i want to confirm so i have very less chance of bricking

I am not sure but if I member correct at least the phone had to be rooted.
Will you unlock via official Sony or test point method?
You also should check via service menu if the bootloader is unlockable.

Just one little note, 77 is baseband, 42 and 62 are not baseband numbers, those are build numbers (last 2 numbers of build number).

No need to be root-ed to unlock bootloader.

i want to unlock via test point method.. so that my drm keys are preserved.. so i hope i can unlock it via S1tool with 4.0.4 and baseband .72

No need to downgrade to gb .62 for unlocking bl using S1 tool, you can use S1 tool on ICS .587 firmware also... And DRM keys are crap, if you want to use trackid, download it from play store, it will work without drm keys..

How to root Xperia neo 2.3.4 safely

Can someone tell me what I need to do to root my Xperia Neo 2.3.4 without getting the battery problem. Already experienced it once.
Sent from my MT15i using XDA App
You will have to unlock the bootloader and then root via a custom kernel.
Are you sure, cause I can't unlock bootloader, sim lock to o2.
Yes.
There is however still this method for bootloader unlocking.

Firmware .62 won't root directly in locked bootloaders!
First downgrade to .42 by flashing the corresponding firmware and then root!
Afterwards do the OTA update!

Update availabe for Xperia Neo- Build 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hi guys,
I Just want to inform you that yesterday I updated my Xperia neo and got 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Does anybody know what are changes since previous build?
Using 4.0.2.A.0.62 I can not root using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su,
So becareful, you may need to wait until some solution for rooting is found.
Is It Available For Neo V Too ... Cant Find In My Region.. Will Wait Till There Is Any Solution For Rooting
Which region are you in?
Screenshot of about phone?
Edit:

I have rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62.
First I flashed InteksV15 kernel. After I used DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.
it's working
But after it will be running on Inteks kernel. You may need to extract original one from 4.0.2.A.0.62
and reflash it.

is that right, im from the netherlands
and my neo is rooted, is that not dangerous
and wil the neo v get Build 4.0.2.A.0.62 if it is rooted?

I can get the update, but I have an unlocked bootloader so I used flashtool. But I had a conversation with @SonyEricssonNL, and it turned out I have a scandinavian SI number.
I think you can just use flashtool to flash the ftf, also non-rooted.

No, it will flash fw for same region which you have on your phone at the moment.
Only locked bootloaders can update through sony companion or bridge for mac
If you have unlocked ur bootloader, you can easily search forums at XDA to relock ur bootloader and get updates from sony !
Is there any difference between serial no. xxxx-xxxx but same region
Is there any trick or something that it can flash back or repair to my original firmware?

yes, you are on GB,
see the instructions under GB for root,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U
try this also

though rooting ICS can be achieved on locked bootloaders where on GB you may need to unlock it !
update to ICS and root, is what i suggest.

No, your phone will remain SIM unlocked. And if you prefer gingerbread, you can have it rooted for locked bootloader. You have it here in general section a thread explaining how to do it.

Yes, you can flash a St25a firmware (.ftf), but yes, you MUST exclude baseband flashing. You have plenty of ST25i firmwares around, so why bother with an st25a .ftf??
