Hi everyone, I have some problems on Win7 64 Bit with my gs3. When I connect it in usb mode it doesn't work. Very few time I can open the mass storage. I don't know if this is a driver problem, and another problem is that when I use Kies, the program find my s3 but there isn't sync with it.
So I can't do anything.

my experience
Hi, my s3 was bought this month and I've updated to 4.1.1 OTA. No root.
I've never used kies, but about the usb mass storage, it just doesn't do it. When you plug the s3 to a computer, it is always in media transfer, no mass storage mode. There is another mode possible, something I don't really know what it is, but no usb mass storage.
That's what I've found out on the net when I was also looking for it. I was very disappointed. Unless you root it, you can't use it as usb mass storage.
Now, what I do to transfer files, etc, is to use a ftp-server app I've download from google play (free), and use filezilla on my computer (also i7, 64b, like yours). It works nicely, no cables needed. It could be an alternative for you, as it is for me.
Hope it helps.
Mass storage mode was removed with in Galaxy S3, nothing you can do. You should still be able to transfer files. When I plug the phone into my pc, I can simply open it with the windows explorer and there I see all the folders. If this doesn't work, install the samsung USB drivers, they can be found here on the forums.

I have installed Samsung USB Drivers manually and also tried Kies to install the newest drivers, but my Samsung Galaxy S3 still isn't recognized by my computer. What can I do?
EDIT: It only works sometimes, so when I plug it out and in like 10 times, maybe I'm lucky and it will connect once.

I have the same problem. My VSGS3 works with my W8 laptop but not my W7 desktop (at all). The only thing I can assume that it would be is MTP issues with Truecrypt (my desktop is encrypted). I cannot get it to work at all.
take a look at this thread...

dont seem like there is a solution yet.
Really???? S3 Not Recognized?
Maybe I missed something in this thread but is this really the case??? The S3 cannot be recognized as a USB storage device by Windows? I accidentally left my SD card out and now have videos I need to transfer to PC, but cannot via email or any other means I can find. Anybody have a solution? I have installed the Samsung drivers but still not recognized . . . HELP!!!

No USB storage for GS3 internal memory.

You can use MTP mode to copy the files to the computer.
The device will appear with a phone-logo in 'My Computer'
Just plug Samsung USB cable into USB port on a PC with the Samsung USB drivers installed and cut and paste as many GB as you want .SD Phone or EXT SD card via Windows Explorer as normal .

This problem is quite depressing Has a restore fixed it for anyone?
I use mac OSX and after searching for a month or so, I couldnt find a solution to connect via USB. So now I use 'Air Droid' app from Play Store. Its pretty good and simple!! Plus, you can do alot more stuff like send or read SMS from PC.. Dont need to connect via USB anymore
I found that installing that rootkit installed the drivers to connect via USB - didnt root it just installed it for the drivers. THANKS!
I am having the same problem.
My Galaxy S3 charges when connected to computer via USB.
But is not detected in USB Debugging or regular mode.
Which windows version are u using. Try installing pdanet.exe on ur pc

You must know what windows you use, 32 bit or 64 bit? Download Kies through Samsung website, make sure got right software.

If you are using x64 Windows 7 this will EXE file can be found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies\USB Driver\SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe
back this up and then you can remove KIES. This is all you need to have your phone connected without ever really needing KIES.
Or you can use the driver provided by the TOOLKIT that MSKIP has designed (thanks - love it).
Cheers,

experienced the same on my win7 64 bit. I removed it on the faulty usb port to another one and then luckily the driver installation went fine. Weird but worked.

Hello All,
I got my new Galaxy S II yesterday and it came with ICS. I am trying to connect the phone on to the PC as Mass Storage - but as soon as I connect my phone, my PC (Which runs on XP) says "USB Device not recognized". I tried USB Debugging, enabling Mass storage under Settings->More->USB utilities etc. Nothing works. I even tried with a different cable - no luck. Can anyone help me to fix this issue? Thanks a lot.
Read this -
http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/03/14/...storage-on-android-4-0-ics-samsung-galaxy-s2/
USB mass storage was removed by default in the ICS upgrade. Now the S2 uses MTP, similar to the Galaxy Nexus. Windows 7, Ubuntu & OS X can read it, but XP doesn't have MTP functionality built in. I guess it can be enabled though, don't know how. In any case, USB mass storage is still accessible, follow the link.

Hey there,
Here is a list of what I have before I get started.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi (P7510)
Android Version - 3.2
Kernel Version - [email protected]#1
Build Number - INFAMOUS TAB 0.1 P7510UEKMM
Basically I have no access to my tablets internal SD card via my PC (Windows 7 and KIES)
I bought this tablet from a friend who rooted and flashed with the INFAMOUS mod.
I have searched all over the web for an answer and cant find something for this case specifically.
Each time I plug in my tab, my PC tells me that the Hardware ID is missing.
I can see the tablet in my Devices and Printers (displayed as SAMSUNG_android) as well as in my Device Manager. In device manager it says the drivers are up to date and functioning.
What have I tried?
USB Debugging (On and Off)
Clearing cache via recovery mode
Updating drivers via W7 and KIES via Samsung
I have tried following a few threads on installing the KIES software without internet connectivity. However I would rather not use the KIES Software anyway as it is kind of garbage.
I am looking to have access to the internal SD card so I can flash a new Rom on the Tab, however I would first like to even just have access to the file transferring.
Can anyone point me in the direction of help and me being able to enjoy this tablet?
I hope I have provided enough information. I am a pretty techy person and I understand how to do all of this but it seems like I am missing something really big.
Something to take note of, whenever the tab is plugged in (PC or Wall) there is a red x over the battery symbol and the tab charges very slowly.
Cheers

The Galaxy Tab doesn't expose the internal "sdcard" as a device that you can mount on your PC. If you enable it, it shows up as a MTD device.
The sdcard partition is formatted using a Linux native filesystem, not FAT, so Windows can't recognize it.
I use adb to push files onto the sdcard. ADB comes with the android SDK.

As stated, make sure you have your tablet in MTP, and if so, make sure to update your drivers.
Settings > Storage > Additional Settings (top right) > MTP
To build on the above, if you have uninstalled Kies but also the Samsung USB drivers, you will be unable to connect the tab. Reinstall (or maybe uninstall and reinstall if you still have them) the drivers. A lot of the times that is the issue.
Go to Settings>Storage>Options/Info (The one on the upper right)>MTP(Check this one)
hope this help
FIXED

Ahhh ha! As soon as I uninstalled the driver that windows found and used the Google Driver that came along with the Android SDK, the tablet was recognized. Alas, I can finally use this tablet.
In the end it was as simple as a driver error, I spent a very long time searching last night and now I just feel silly.
The tablet still shows the red X over the battery symbol, whether I have MTP with USB Debugging on or off. I guess this can be avoided with certain ROMS. Anybody know of a ROM that avoids this?
Thank you all for your immediate responses!

By the way you two, there is no option in 3.2 for this.
In 3.2 its Applications/Development/USB Debugging
In storage there is no option to choose MTP, it seems that it always has been enabled and I cant find it anywhere in the settings to change it.
Thanks for the input though

For honeycomb and many others, debugging is always there. Under the storage option, you have an Additional Settings button usually and it should be present in there. I was always running3.2 until like a couple days ago so surprised its not there. Oh well problem solved lol
I'm having a similar problem with my tab not being recognised by my pc (win7 64) or in kies. It was originally an M380W (Korean) model, which I updated to a P7510. That all went fine, and the tablet works perfectly, except for the fact that my pc no longer sees it when it's plugged in. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but no dice. I'm going to see if adb works.
Hy everyone!
I have problem with my samsung galaxy tab P7500..it wont recognize my usb. in notification bar shows that is connected but it is not. there is no folder od something with my usb staff. it worked fine, and then just stopped. i dont know why
before, when i connected usb, tab opened a folder of usb, but now nothing..
did i miss something? where did i get wrong??
please heelp!!
P.S. sorry for my english
Switch to a different USB port. It seems like a stupid answer, but it is a common problem. Switching from the form factor USB ports (front panel) to the board mounted ports (rear panel) or visa-verse often works.
i know this may be an old post but here goes, i have the same problem, my PC tells me that the drivers for my tab are installed but i can not see it in my PC.
i connected it to different USB ports but still i can not see it.
i tried turning the debugging on/off still to no successes.
7500 tab, cyanogenmod 4.0.4 (9 nightly )

Then I only have 2 more options available before I run out of ideas.
1) did you enable mtp under the storage options on your tab?
2) your USB cable might be defective. Try a different cable.

Hi
Hope somebody could help me.
my tab is p7500. official ics and rooted. i try to connect usb otg and it working by showing "USB connector connect" .
I can connect it with 1gb flash drive. But when i connect with 2 gb flash drive or higher, the tab will show "High-power usb device connected. cannot access to this device".
why it show like that? is the tab only can access flash drive with 1gb memory and below? or there is some setting that need to be done if want to connect with higher than 1gb flash drive?
Please see the picture attach...

I can't believe that the p7500 wouldn't support flash memory over 1gb. I've heard of people using a USB hub that has it's own power supply for OTG.

I like to just share a PC drive or folder on my network, then us ES File Explorer to find the video on your network and stream it over wifi to MX player on the droid. It's a little technical to set up, but a good thing to know.
I checked the Samsung S3 on several occasions and could see the content of the sdcard0 (internal memory) and the removable SD card from the Windows Explorer on a desktop PC with Windows 7 using USB via the MTP protocol.
I did not download or delete anyting via USB.
I noticed both memories were a bit low on space and a few folders on the external card had files I could not understand, so I searched the Play Store for apps that would let me view details (like file and folder sizes) on the external sdcard. I used these apps to read the sdcard, but did not get any wiser.
I then obtained AirDroid from the Play Store and transferred files from S3 to the PC, but did not delete from or upload anything to the S3. AirDroid worked fine. I decided to use USB to delete S3 files a few days later. Before that I used the the PC for a couple days for reading online newspapers from Firefox, but did not do anything that should have changed the workings of the USB. There were a few Windows 7 updates (initiated at PC logoff) that progressed normally with no warnings about incompatible files etc. A few days later I noticed the USB connect to S3 had stopped working. For example I did not see the Auto-play dialog on the PC and nothing from the S3 showed in the Windows Explorer. I used the the USB data cable that came with the Samsung S3.
However, the the Windows Explorer USB connect still worked for a ZTE Blade III using the USB cable that came with the ZTE on the same PC.
Q1. how do I make Windows Explorer see the S3 again?
Q2. what may have been the cause? (can I download android apps or do something on the Windows 7 PC to help to pin-point the problem).

jje
Thanks JJEgan,
What and from where should I download? The S3 USB connect was working for weeks. Could a faulty update from Microsoft have caused this? The S3 is not rooted.
I have downloaded from the Play Store that I assume contains well-behaved programs only, or are there play-store programs that are known to interfere with the USB by design/accident when they run. The PC Windows Explorer USB connect worked with the ZTE Blade 3 mobile after the S3 had gone wrong. If I install Samsung USB drivers is there a risk the ZTE USB connect would go wrong too/instead? I don't know what is required, so I might make the problem worse by downloading the wrong libraries or not doing it the right way.
Is there some program/app I can install on either the PC or Android that would pull in USB libraries and dependencies automatically, a bit like Synaptic package managers in Ubuntu?
