Hello I have a problem with my Sola, everytime I try to copy files to the external sd card this happens:
If I unplug the sd card from the device and use and Sd card adaptor to copy the files: The files appears on my pc but on the phone nothing appears, but the folder LOST.DIR on the sd has the same size of the files that i tried to copy
If I plug the phone with the usb cable and copy the files: Same result
DOESNT MATTER HOW I TRY IS THE SAME RESULT

Which Rom? CM9.1 Roms for Sola does not support external SD cards.
ICS Rom 6.1.1.B.1.10 + custom kernel + CWM Touch recovery v5.5.0.4

Try backing up ur files with card reader and format it

Shouldn't be. The card reads fine on PC and on the phone.
I think you're looking at the internal memory of the Sola. It's deceptively called "SD-MEMORY". If you go to the root of the drive, there should be something labelled "Ext-SD". That's where your SD card is.

Hi all, I never used SD card on my phone yesterday night put up the SD card it was working fine and till then.. But after connecting PC it got detected and I transferred files to it.. But later after removing from PC the contents I copied r gone from the ext SD card... I rebooted it appears again i connect and remove from PC its Gone!! Do i need to reboot the phone after copying the contents!?

try formatting the Sdcard(external) within the phone, after that reboot ur phone, then connect to pc and transfer files and see
Format the sd card and then copy the files you backed up to the computer maybe you did something like hitting the wrong button on somewhere...

how do I format the external sd card in phone? now also sane thing happened I copied some videos in external sd card after I removed the cable nothing was in ext sd card.. after reboot they appear.. I doubt thr s mounting problem.. btw I m slim ics

To format external SD in your phone,
Goto, Settings - Storage - Erase SD ( make sure you are erasing your external SD, you can use the size to confirm)
Or do it in CWM recovery

Since quite a while now, I don't have any way to access my External SD Card on my phone.
I just installed latest Slim Bean and problem remains, nothing is mounted, even under CWM it can't mount /sdcard
My card is working well in my friend GS2 so I don't really understand what s happening. ANy idea how to fix this ?

I suggest you save the contents of the sdcard to your computer and then reformat the card through your phone, it might then be recognized by the phone.
If it is recognized simply copy back the contents from your computer.

The card isn't shown anywhere in the phone . I can't erase it from the phone so !
I did not say erase. reboot into cwm recovery - mounts and storage and format ext sdcard.
use the adapter that came with your sdcard to copy to computer.
If it is not recognized in recovery, there is a problem with your rom.

I can't mount the card under CWM ... but card works on my friend S2
I have a micromax a116. I rooted it using sp flash tool. Every thing was fine until I used the wrong update.zip file of mediatek mt6577 from this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274974 instead of using the one intended for micromax a116. Now the external sd card is not mounting. I have fomatted the device and still it wont read the sd card.

download the file for A116 from that thread.then place/copy that file to your memory card.
then flash that downloaded zip file through CWM/TWRP or whatever you used for flashing the update.zip
this should resolve your problem!!

thx for the prompt reply .. but the phone's internal or external memory is not detected if I click the USB Mass Storage option after connecting to the computer via cable. How do I copy the new update file to system internal memory card. Btw I can still access the system files during recovery mode !! I even see the old update.zip there!! the problem for me now is to transfer the new file to the system memory for installation !!

switch off your phone, then boot into recovery mode, then connect the usb cable to your phone & PC.
in recovery select "mounts and storage" --> then select "mount usb storage"
this will connect your sd card to your computer and then you can copy files to it then flash that file.
if that doesn't work, then you'll have to remove the sd card from phone and connect it to pc through a memory card reader and then copy files.

You could use a file manager that supports viewing LAN servers present on the WiFi network. Examples are X-plore, Astro etc. Copy the file stored on a shared folder on your PC, to your internal memory.

I can't find any internal or external SD card on my mobile or PC and can't download anything bcoz it shows that no external storage detected

After the official 4.2.1 update you can directly transfer all your files into your external sd card and memory swap is not required

I am not manage to copy file, delete file or create folder in the external sd card from my sony xperia z ultra.
But I can use the Android File Transfer to transfer files to the sd card from my mac when I connect the phone to my macbook.
I have already tried format the sd card from the phone but still not working.
May I know what should I do next??

search on here for "sdcard fix kitkat", google have farted around with permisions
Hi.
my tablet is samsung android 5.1.1 and rooted.
this is about one month that this problem started.
When i transfer any file from computer to external sd card by USB cable it can not opend and after restart i see this file is not in my sd card! (move, music,pdf,...).
but if at first i tarnsfer any file from computer to internal memory by USB cable and then i copy/move by android file explorer from internal memory to external sd card, the file can be opend and editable!!!
I think a hacker or an app has changed any system files therefore this problem occur. or maybe some other rezone.
Please help for solving this problem.
