Hi
Since quite a while now, I don't have any way to access my External SD Card on my phone.
I just installed latest Slim Bean and problem remains, nothing is mounted, even under CWM it can't mount /sdcard
My card is working well in my friend GS2 so I don't really understand what s happening. ANy idea how to fix this ?
Cheers !
I suggest you save the contents of the sdcard to your computer and then reformat the card through your phone, it might then be recognized by the phone.
If it is recognized simply copy back the contents from your computer.

The card isn't shown anywhere in the phone . I can't erase it from the phone so !
I did not say erase. reboot into cwm recovery - mounts and storage and format ext sdcard.
use the adapter that came with your sdcard to copy to computer.
If it is not recognized in recovery, there is a problem with your rom.

Earlier today, I realized that my phone doesn't recognize my SD card. I tried taking it out and putting it back in with no luck. Then I decided to re-flash the rom with ClockworkMod Recovery but it requires the sd card to flash which mine does not work. I also tried downloading twrp2.0 but again, the bootloader won't recognize it because it's not on the SD card. Lastly, I factory reset the phone hoping it would format the sd card, but now every time I unlock the phone, there is just a black screen. Any suggestions?
How did you factory format it?
From when the phone is turned on, or on recovery?
What you should do is get the memory card and stick it on your computer. It might be corrupted or something alike.
Once on your computer, format it to fat/fat32.
On windows:
Go on my computer, wait for memory device to be detected, and right click it.. then format.
On Mac:
Open: "Disk Utility" by either going to "utilities" on applications folder, or by searching for it on the spotlight search bar.
Then click umm.. im not on my mac now, google it.
After you do all that, put the ROM and the Recovery.
Then flash away.
Hope this helps.

Well, the phone says it can't mount the SD Card, even when I placed a different one in so I think it's an issue with the phone or rom.

take out the external sd card and do a nandroid on the internal sd card...then restart the phone and save you're nandroid somwhere safe...This is not going to solve your SD issue, but you'll atleast have a backup copy of your system if you ever have to get a new one... also if you have an micro sd to sd adaptor, try to stick the sd card in your computer (assuming you have an SD reader) and try to format it that way fat32 i believe.

I did the Nandroid Backup and I do have a USB with a port to insert a Micro SD Card, but it doesn't show that I plugged anything in. It may be a problem with the SD Card, but I also have another 8 Gig one that it won't mount or recognize.
when u go to settings-storage...what do you see? do you see mount/unmount sd card? or u cant even go to settings?
Stop replying and start listening.
You need to RE-format your SD card to FAT32.

Would it be possible to flash twrp through the bootloader or through fastboot without the SD, or can I flash a rom directly from clockwork recovery without an SD Card?

You can flash a recovery without an sdcard.
With the device in bootloader mode:
fastboot flash recovery c:\recoverydirectory\recoveryname.img

try to format it thru phone
Tried that a couple of time and it didn't work. After a couple of reboots it worked now. Thanks.
Still got a question though.
What are the correct settings for formatting the sd card from windows?
Is it necessary to partition it from CWM? What are the correct setting for this?
LE: Ok. I got myself deeper in trouble. I managed to format the sd card from CWM. I mounted the sd card and copied update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p500-signed.zip over. I wiped the phone's memory and tried to install CM7 and got the following error: "E: Can't open /sdcard/update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p500-signed.zip (bad)". I also tried with update-oxygen-2.3.2-LGP500-KANG-signed_v2.6.zip but doesn't work either.
I was thinking of trying to partition the sd card from CWM but i'm afraid i will make it unable to mount back again and this time i got no android to format it from.
Also it seems that formatting the sd card from cwm doesn't really work. The files are still there though it says that it completed.
LE2: I managed to mount sd card from cwm and copied over a cwm backup folder i had in my computer. Takes a while to copy it like it really does something. But after i try to restore or remount usb storage the files aren't there anymore.
can you tell me why do you want to patition your sd card? do you want to create second partition (sd-ext) or what?

Just format your SDCARD from SETTINGS - STORAGE, after that proceed with the instalation of CM7 or whatever you want. Don't partition your SDCARD if you don't know how to do that and if you don't need partitioned SDCARD. It is not necessary to do that if you don't use an APPS2SD app, so don't waste your time with that.
Suddenly I get this error in the notification bar:
Damaged SD Card - SD card is damaged. Try reformatting it.
And the SD card is not mounted. It's the internal one, the USB storage one I guess.
My external SD card works fine and is being mounted.
This is a huge problems since a lot of apps doesn't work when there is no internal SD. Swiftkey can't find it's languange packs, Gallery and many other video/image apps also fail etc.
If I reboot to recovery and to install zip from sdcard, I can see both my internal and external sd card. So recovery seem to be able to mount the internal sd, but android itself does not.
Now, I could format it, but I would like to at least be able to back up before I do, which is a bit of a problem since can't take the card out and use in a card reader and I can't get android to mount and share it either, even though recovery is able to mount the card just fine.
1) Does anybody know why this has happened?
2) Does anybody know how I can backup the contents of the internal sd, even if I can't get android to mount it?
3) Does anybody know how I any other way of fixing this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Rom & Kernel plz? :silly:
Also, Not really sure about this but I have a far reminiscence of having read somewhere that you can actually access your folders through USB from CWM once they are mounted. Please someone confirm this because I may be speaking bull****; otherwise you could try to backup your data from your very same computer.

Flash latest Siyah kernel (if you're on ICS/JB) and then boot to CWM. In mounts&storage mount USB storage and connect pc and phone via usb.

Hi,
I messed up with the Android software, i installed chainfire app from the Play store and tried running it, After it ran the phone rebooted and got stuck in Welcome screen, I did soft reset by pulling out the battery for 10 mins , but it didnt help.
Now the thing is i dont want to lose my sensitive data. P.s I can enter into CWM recovery mode and also my phone is rooted with Omega ROM 4.1.2. I can see the file structure of my internal SDcard through the install from Internal SDcard Menu, But when i go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the SDcard it says there is an error mounting SDcard, I want to take backup of my folders before preforming a hard reset
I tried fetching files through ADB Shell installed on my PC, But it didnt help , I can see all the folders including SDcard and SDcard1, but both folders are empty without any data, i am sure since i was not able to mount the SDcard it was displaying empty folder. But my question is im able to explore all the folders in my internal SD in recovery mode through the "Install from Internal SDcard menu"
Is there any way to recover the files ?....The only way i can think of is to transfer the Same ROM zip file to Ext SD Card and perform the installation of ROM from recovery mode and again my doubt is will it affect the data on my internal SD card
Is there any way to backup my files from SDcard to PC.

Ok.....My question is why i am not able to mount my Internal SD card in recovery mode and take a backup through ADB in PC.
Is it that CWM doesnt support mounting the Internal SD card...has anyone tried mounting the internal SD card in recovery mode.

when there is no data loss, why backing up via pc again? when you flash rom.zip through ext sd card, the system boots normally into OS. then you may backup the data to pc and perform hard reset as you wish.

Hi,
I have a strange problem since installing CM 10.1.3 & the latest Dorimanx Kernel on my Galaxy S II. I can't access my internal SD card from the ROM, it's visible and accessible via the recovery system though. Is there any possibility to mount the SD card from inside the ROM again or can anyone give me a clue where to look for it?
Thanks in advance
go into recovery>mount/storage
try to mount
i hope it worked ;D

I can mount in in recovery mode, that's not the problem. I just can't mount it after the phone booted into the OS.
uhm, do you get the notifaction to format your internal sdcard, if not just go to settings>storage>go down and look for "format sdcard"
i know it says sdcard but it format your internal card and not the external, but there's one problem it deletes your app data (its just fresh app)
and everthing on your internal, so picture music is gone. but i think that is better than having a broken internal sdcard.
i hope this works
