Buy something expensive to destroy it slowly? Noooo...

swapping won't extend your ram,
it just creating a virtual memory that use as a temporary shelter for cached data.
and personally i think 1 Gb of swap memory is too much
dont look to class
look out > 4K read-write < in tests. Higher 4K is better for mobile phone.
has anyone ever tested this battery?

yup,
but i think it is a bad idea because i found it will decrease your sdcard performance later. i did partition of my class10 sdcard for swapping & using link2sd app which decreases my sdcard's transfer rate 20mbps to 6mbps....
swap didn't increase my phone performance too much..

Hi all,
I have been seeing some sellers selling the 1500 - 1530mAH batteries for the Touch HD.
Would like to know if someone tried them? Also, i am game to try them, but is there a software which can test and tell if the battery is actually a 1500 or 1530 one, or is it just 1350 stock battery with false numbers on the top!?
Thanks.
Got myself a 1500 mah battry from ebay.
it's working, but can not say/tell you if its really better.
Please do post your reviews of the battery after you use it a few days, THANKS!
I would advice you to stay away from -same size as the original- batteries "named" 1500/1530 mAh.
They are fake and from my experience they are either 1340 mAh as the original or even less!!!
Wait for the extended ones.... i believe in a few months they will be widely available....

Perhaps you are right. However, I've had very good luck buying higher capacity "standard sized" batteries from Mugen. I used them in the iMate Jam, HTC Prophet and the HTC Trinity. In my experience I did indeed get around 20% more battery life from them. Some of them were lithium polymer which is also lighter than the standard battery while having a higher capacity. So far Mugen hasn't offered one for the HD, but I'll be getting one when they do.
I have just got a High capacity battery, see following post

Anyone know of an app that measures the battery's mAh?
I have tried battery monitor by 3c, but I don't think it works completely with HTC phones.
Either it keeps saying measurement requires 40% or larger charging cycle or it reports something crazy..

I know this thread is old. But in case anyone still interested, you can find it by looking at your physical battery(if you have a removal battery of course)
Look for Wh and V printed on the battery.
mAh = Wh × 1000 / V
Example:
Samsung Galaxy S3: 3.8 V 7.98 Wh
7.98Wh × 1000 / 3.8V = 2100mAh
I think he meant how much Mah or capacity is actually left on the battery. You can do this in Linux, but not sure about Windows or Android. For example my laptop battery is rated at 4400mah, but the Lubuntu tool tells me max capacity is only 2920mah now.
Well, I think what he needs is to test the battery capacity, as we know lot of 3rd party battery claim higher capacity than it does.
The way to do this correctly by measuring the battery using mAH meter.
But if you want to do it by software, I think you can use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.NanoDinamics.NovaTester
But, I'm not sure either this will give you an accurate result.

Gonna check it, but as my battery is about 3 years and some months old (Galaxy S2), I won't have any way to know if the result is OK.
Thanks for sharing the app!!
Well, after running the full test, it showed that my battery's real capacity is a hilarious amount of 750mAh, not even one Ampere per hour. I estimate about 1800 charging cycles

Okay i will
now im using an 1 year old mugen extended battery (3200mah), i will put this batt tot the test too
overall im still happy with the S2, its far from ready to sent to retirement just yet lol
okay the test is started
Here it is and im very suprised, +- 400mAh loss in a period of 3 years
here is the result of the test of the Mugen 3200mAh battery.
(bought it used a year ago, so i dont know how long it was used before i bought it).
And i did my research, this battery has been tested (new) and give arround +- 2400mAh in real-time even though Mugen claiming its 3200mAh
overall +- 250mAh loss, im very pleased with the performance
btw for informative purposes the screen was at full brightness in both tests

No sd-card will have a "true" storage... e.g. 8gb will be 7.n, 16 will be 14/15.n... 64 GB will not really be 64gb, just like hard drives, its not really 1TB, its 980/90 something
OMG, where have you been for the last 10 years ?? Is it the firt memory card that you buy ? Thats perfectly normal
Capacity is measured really stupidly in all digital media storage (hard drives, memory cards, etc). All companies define a gigabyte to be 1000MB, and a megabyte to be 1000kb, etc etc. In reality it's 1024KB per MB, and 1024MB per GB.
It's just a normal part of formatting any card and no way to get more.

+1,
go check your computer hard drive space, heck, even that 16gb internal you have doesn't add up to true 16gb. it's just a way of marketing to fool people :/
Actual capacity will be 7.2% lower than the reported capacity in GB. If you are buying storage measured in a different unit, that percentage will change (there's an almost 10% different in reported vs actual for a 1 TB hard drive).
Flash-based drives also usually reserve a portion of their capacity to replace defective sectors. Sometimes the manufacturers include this "hidden" capacity into their marketing.
The available capacity also depends on the filesystem, the index, journal and other low-level stuff has to be stored somewhere.

I reckon Im a heavy user. 2hrs of telephone calls, 2hrs of on screen time in a period of six hours at an average.
Therefore I find it difficult to make the batt last through the day on a single charge. Since the battery is not removable I was thinking of buying a portable battery backup which I can use to charge it on the move. Have the following questions regarding the same. Please help if u can.
1. Is it safe to use a backup portable on the go charger?
2. What are some good brands?
3. Do they have a good life?
4. Any ones you would like to recommend?

The "official" unit that will be able to fast charge just like your plugged into the wall with the EP851 is the Sony CP-A2LAS. It has a 4000mah capacity so it will be able to give your phone two full charges from zero. It was just released in Japan and will be around the world globaly soon.

Look at the one have 2A output for faster charging.
I have an anker that i bought for germany and it preduces 3amps max and can charge 2 devices simultaneously it was only £40 on a discount but i still have it after nearly a year and it still works perfectly and is a 10000mah so it can charge the xperia u 4-5 times i can only drain 25% over a whole day with gps,bluetooth,wifi,3g permanently on so i can use google maps
this battery looks intresting...i also have the same battery drain issue...thinking of giving this external battery a try...

Hello, I read somewhere that the high-end Sandisk card takes a lot of power. Don't remember which one. Maybe Extreme 64GB, Extreme Plus 64GB or the Ultra Plus 128GB. Is this really true?
No. MicroSD's don't require to be powered themselves, they're not SATA drives that need to spin. Powering the SDcard would fry it...
What uses so much energy is the Indexingservice and Media services, which scan the entire card. The bigger it is, the longer it takes and thus the longer it has to consume an awful lot of charge.
Easily bypassed by dumping a .nomedia file in every folder in the main directory (Subfolders are automatically included) to tell it to skip that folder. Won't show up in any of the media apps libraries, but you can still open the files manually.
Agree, I have no issue with the 64gb extreme plus card I'm using. You need not worry about drain. Decision to buy should be more about justifying the cost vs getting a larger card. If you absolutely need top speed then there should be no question that the highest rated card is the one to get (SanDisk brand or another), but if not then your money is better spent on capacity or saved to be used elsewhere.

That's certainly one reasonable perspective . . one that I share . . but truth be told I was more driven by the need for top performance than anything else.
