Has anyone noticed this? Specifically with chargers?
I was trying to charge my phone, I didn't use my regular samsung charger though, I used one I purchased at Wal-Mart but while it was plugged in, I couldn't use the phone... I thought that was really weird, and annoying, does anyone else have this problem?

Please provide more information if expect to have an answer - phone model, phone software, modem - at least
This happens when cheap unshielded/unbalanced chargers are used. The charging current can be so "dirty" it makes my Galaxy Tab go haywire, requirinq a reboot.

Hi,
I've had a problem with the phone out of the box: when the phone is connected to the charger (non Samsung charger) or the USB in the computer, the touch screen bearly responds. I try to use the phone but it's like the touch panel does not respond, or sometimes it responds and some time it doesn't. Once I disconnect the charger, it goes back to being fully functional.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix this? Is there an app in the market to test whether there is a problem?
Gosh, I hope this is not a HW problem..
Thanks.
I'm guessing that the flow of the electricity might be causing interference to the capacitive sensor as I've experienced this a couple of times on my SGS1.
Haven't had this issue though on SGS2.
Some of the HTC Evo 4G phones had a similar issue when it was launched last year. HTC was able to fix it with a software update. But I don't know if your phone ihas the same underlying cause. If it is easy for you to return, you may want to try that rather than waiting for a fix.
I have a Galaxy S1 and had a similar problem. I bought a non samsung usb cable to charge my phone and it caused it to be unresponsive while connected. As soon as I disconnected it, the phone returned to normal. I bought some samsung data cables from ebay and never had the problem since.
A friend of mine had a Blackberry (i think), and used my samsung cable to try to charge his phone in my car. It never worked.....or atleast his phone never said it was charging.
My guess is the cables may have the same connector, but the wiring my be different.
I could be completely wrong though, but this is the experience I had with the original galaxy s
I've had the same problem with the galaxy s 1. No matter what charger I used though charging via usb made it better.
Happens with a lot of phones, Aridoasis above hit the nail on the head.
If you read the manual you will see that it say that that will happen of you are connected to an unstable power source. Which I think will happen when the cable used to charge the phone somehow doesn't match it.
This happens to me when I used a standard micro USB cable to charge it. But goes away when I use my ATRIX's USB power charger

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a high pitched buzz/whine/noise from their wall charger when it is plugged in and charging, it only seems to happen when the phone is also plugged into it, the screen turned off and the phone is fully charged, however it is really annoying to sleep near/in the same room with.
I was at first convinced it was the power converter that I am using (being in Australia with an imported Atrix) but after trying a new one the problem still persists.
Any advice? thanks in advance

Some old chargers I had did that. Not my atrix.
Its cause of a capacitor in it not working like it should. (Your phone will be ok). I had a netgear router do this to me and it was horrible... on all the time! I feel your pain.

I would replace the charger as it is not working as intended and could be a huge fire risk!
Never, ever think about whether a noise coming from an electric power supply is good. If it's making noise, you have components not working properly.
Just because someone says the noise is alright, and they have experienced it before, DOES NOT make it good! I am not trying to be a drama queen here. It's fine to say that until you have to attend an investigation into someone dying by burning!
Also, to blindly say it is a capacitor is just plain stupid!
People die because of poorly assembled/poor quality electrical equipment. Please take whatever measures you can to ensure all your equipment meets regulations, and works correctly!
I never said it wasn't a fire risk
Thanks for the help! For the time being would it be safer to use an iphone wall charger? I have a few of those but didn't want to risk anything
Thanks again

As long as it outputs no more than 950w (probably says on charger... though it is apple) it'll be fine.

Hey dude,
I had similar issues when i imported mine, just grab a new BlackBerry charger from any store, that'll do the trick. the internals are better.
=)
I have tried to re-charge my gtab but for some reason when I plug it in to my wall's outlet, it does not charge at all. Either mine is defective or I am doing something wrong.

Did you try connecting to other wall outlet? If yes, and still not working for Gtab 10.1, but work for other devices, you might need to exchange your tab for the new one.
Mine works fine without any issues. And I don't think there's any special way to connect the power adapter. The connector can hook up to your Gtab only in one direction (Samsung logo facing up towards the screen).
I asked Steve Jobs and he says your doing it wrong.
But just in case. Have you tried multiple outlets. The charging while on/off. loose connection. I know it all sounds stupid but you have to rule out the obvious before you think there's an issue. So far as I'm aware you're the first person that has an issue just charging his tab on here.

Yes, there's no other outlet in my house that does any different whether my Gtab is on/off. It looks like mine is defective and I'm going to have to make a trip back to Best Buy. Thanks for the help.

I too had this feeling that there's an issue. After complete discharge, it takes about five mins of charging for the gtab to even display the charging symbol.
Today I woke up and found that my phone wasn't charging. When I plug in my charger it feels loose and moves around. Tried buying a new charger and same thing. Its like I have to hold the thing in a certain place for it to chaste and as soon add I let go it stops charging. I did just flash a new rom last night, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions? Phone is 2 yrs old and out of warrenty.

when you say that your charging outlet feels loose, do you mean the area that you plug your charging cord into on your phone?
You might need to replace the micro USB port on your phone. I sent my phone to MobileTechVideos and they replaced it for me. It'll cost about $35 for the service though.
Like when I plug my phone in to charge, it kinda wiggles around like it shouldn't. It should just plug in and be tight. Not sure how this happened. Is there anything else that can be done other than sending it in? I don't have another T-Mobile phone to use in the mean time

Could this be due to flashing a new rom? Didnt start until day I flashed D9. Im not sure what to use as a phone in the meantime.

No. I doubt that the installation of a virtual rom would cause the damage of a physical charger jack. However, that day, did you violently yank the charger cable out of the device? Or anything to that sort?

Nope, ive always been really careful with this phone. i think its been getting loose the past 6 months or so. I realllly dont want to get a new phone. I really like my Vibrant
I just want to know that if I send it somewhere that they can actually fix it. I can connect and mount if I need to, but its just odd that I have to hold it a certain way for it to start charging. When i put it down it stops. Tried 3 different chargers, all from tmobile store.
I actually just flashed ICS passion and had the same exact issue. I never thought it could be due to the flash and assumed it was just hardware.
For me, what fixed (or helps) this issue -
Plug the cord in so its sticking in the charging slot as best as possible, than flip the phone on its face while the cord dangles off of a table or whatever you charge it on. (this puts pressure against the cord/phone slot in the reverse direction, and at least for me, would charge the phone)
Hope that made sense and helped!
I know you guys have probably seen a thread like this a million times, but I know exactly what the problem is, but I have no idea as to how to fix it. The problem is in the phone's charging port itself, I need to get this repaired as after noticing that using the Galaxy Charging Current app, depending on the position of the USB cable, a different current is being supplied (all USB cables & Chargers wiggle around, they used to be held in solidly). Of course I have tried tens of other ways to find out what the problem is, and I know it's this for sure.
I'm based in the UK and I didn't buy the phone from a normal shop such as car phone warehouse, so does anyone know where I can get my phone fixed?
Thanks in advance!:good:

Not sure where to get it fixed but have you thought of buying a spare battery and charger? I have a separate battery and charger and hardly ever charge my phone directly with the charger. When one battery runs down I swapp them over done no waiting for my phone to charge
