[Q] Issues connecting to mobile networks CM10 - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I flashed CM10 with TWRP a few weeks ago and my phone has since developed issues connecting to both mobile networks (3G/LTE) and wifi. Sometimes it wont connect to 3/4G at all and often when I get home it takes absolutely forever to connect to my home wifi. I have baseband 1.12.11.0809. I'm going to wipe and reflash tonight, but any ideas what the problem is?

Known issue with CM10/CM10-based roms for some users. Only way to avoid it is to stick with roms based on stock sense ics

Try reprovisioning the phone, flash a sense Rom get your msl and dial ##72786# and enter your msl. Go to menu, press reset, then flash back to cmx

cant conect to 4g
I have 4g where I live and I can't connect to it

There's issues with ehrpd and now I'm pretty sure its more of a sprint issue since I have seen connection issues on 3 different LTE phones. On all three toggling airplane mode gets the phone to jump over to LTE

Been trying things like that, hasnt helped a whole lot, esp getting it to connect to saved AP's... profoundly aggravating since I dont want to go back to ICS...

I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked I ran Paranoid Android for a week with very few network issues and then just ran into a brick wall. I tried everything as far as updating prl/profile and using dialer codes and even jacked it up to where I had to ruu and unroot to be able to update my prl. Since then I've never been able to run an aosp rom without some data issues. I've ran Meanrom as my daily ever since with no data issue.

[Q] 4G connection but no data

For the past 4 days or so my phone has been able to "connect" to the 4G network but I cannot receive data over it. However when I switch the phone to 3G only data works flawlessly. Calls and SMS works fine but the browser and any apps that use data say no connection. The connection icon is grey instead of blue.
I've been running CM7.1 on the thunderbolt just fine for months but I decided to use another ROM just to be sure. Put thundershed 1.6 on today and for a while 4G worked but it died again. was using radios 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_1. Thought it may be a problem with those so I flashed the just-released 1.49.00.0406w_1, 0.01.79.0331w_1. No change.
I've gone through all the other troubleshooting steps too, hard/soft reset, battery pull. reseat SIM card, toggle airplane mode, switch off the LTE radio, etc. Called verizon and they confirmed I have a recent PRL.
Anybody have thoughts as to how I can fix this?
i've been getting in and out data connection with the newest radio on my thunderbolt atm...i'm starting to wonder if its the phone itself
I don't think its anything we can fix ourselves. So many people are having problems similar to this that it must be verizon. I had exactly the same problem you are talking about and I can get it to straighten out by turning airplane mode and taking it back out.

I really hope it is verizon and not my phone, but I've talked to them probably 3 times in the past 2 days and no one has even hinted that they are having network problems.
So right now I guess I just have to wait it out. Man I hate streaming music over 3g...

Update on the situation - My 4G data is back after about a week.
Looks like I was temp banned from Verizons 4G for using too much of my unlimited plan. Can anyone confirm this happening to other people?
Thats what I suspect at least, it could be a coincidence and their 4G tower in my area was broken for almost exactly a week.

[Q] EVO 4G LTE only connecting to 1X?

Hi, so this month my 3G seemed extremely slow with pings in the 1000+, as well as less than 0.10mbps download/upload speeds. Today I noticed it's only connecting to 1X. This is even with full bars.
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Sprint who tried refreshing everything to no avail. They had me reset the settings within ##DATA# also.
It started some time, this month, after the last update. I am rooted, S-OFF, etc. running Stock With Goodies and even reverted back to the regular stock ROM and nothing is changed. I have the latest radios and firmwares also.
I don't have LTE in my area, but 3G is usually pretty decent. I have 3 other phones (EVO 3D's) in my home, all on 3G fine. I had Sprint activate my 3D to my line and it worked fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sprint is undergoing a major network overhaul. If your device connects to 3g fine in other areas than its a sprint issue and nothing you can do except wait for the work to be completed.

have you try doing the service reset? ##SCRTN# (##72786#) that is better then doing the ##3282# when you do the ##72786# that is going to redo the hands-free activation and do the prl update and at the same time it's going to be refreshing the service
HTC EVO LTE
It you can't get 3g any where you may need to replace the phone. That's what happened to me... And I couldn't fix it no matter what I did.

That's what they ended up saying when nothing worked. I'm trying to not do that, if possible, because I don't want to get a refurbished phone, as I had a bad experience with the last one I got from them.
have you tried a full ##786# reset? (it will get your phone to factory fresh condition, and erase all data)
I had the same issue, and no amount of profile updates, ##3282# resets or ##72786# resets helped, final suggestion was a factory reset which did work, be sure to Nandroid before trying it
Hopefully you don't have the same problem, I tried factory restarting it four different ways, all kinds of other resets and dialer things and settings... Nothing worked.

Sadly, I think I do.
So, as I was around town, I noticed it does connect to 3G, but only for maybe 10-30 seconds then drops back to 1X. It even has trouble holding a 1X data connection now.
So, my last option is to return it to Sprint. I have it rooted and also have S-OFF. To return it for warranty replacement, I need to remove root (I will flash the RUU, etc.) Do I also have to get S-ON, if so how is that accomplished?
Thank you all for your help.
You will need to relock it. There is a fastboot command for it somewhere.

Before you do all this... how is development in your area? Is Network Vision currently being implemented? I ask this because I am having similar issues and have for a few weeks. The reason? It was Network Vision being put into place and towers being set up with eHRPD protocol for the lte <-> cdma handoff. After doing a large search on it, it seems any areas that are getting LTE especially, and soon at that (like mine) are having the same problems you're describing. Seemingly because Sprint is locking phones out of connecting to the towers as they continue work with NV and LTE. Have you tried setting the phone to CDMA/EVDO only? This is the only option that works for me until this development is finished.

Weird 4G LTE problems

So my HTC EVO 4G LTE has been treating me very nicely.. great battery life and CM10 is smooth as ever.. the kernel I have is great and I get a 2.0 GHz overclock without problems. The weirdest issue has been haunting me lately. On CyanogenMod 10, I am unable to use the 4G LTE service that is located on a tower about 150 feet away from me at this moment. The issue is that while the phone connects to the service and I can call and text, for some reason data never works. I get 4 bars that I could only get from this tower, and looking in the phone information section of *#*#4636#*#*, I see that the tower shows up as LTE. Now it used to be that on Sense, I could turn on airplane mode, wait about a minute, and then connect to 4G LTE.. but now not even airplane mode can get me connected to it. There should be no reason that the phone can't connect to the tower because the signal, when connected, is very very strong. Does anyone know of any potential fixes for this issue? It's been haunting me that I'm located here in Dallas with a 4G LTE phone on Sprint next to a known working 4G LTE tower and people around me with Samsung Galaxy S3s and other 4G LTE phones are connected but I can't. Thanks for your help in advance.
By the way, I did search the forums and surprisingly no one has an issue similar to this in any of the topics that I checked.
Bump.
Bump.
Did you post the issue in decks thread? That's where I would post, if that's the ROM you're on.

I installed the new radio from the OTA onto my phone and I thought it'd fix the problems but the problem was only temporarily fixed when I reflashed CM10. 4G LTE worked for a few hours.. but then after I went into a building, the signal dropped to 1 bar, turned on 3g, and call quality became utter crap.
I would post in deck's thread but I'm not sure the issue is specific to CM10.. I used a sense rom and for the first few hours of use it worked great and I would get strong LTE signal.. but after that I seemed to again be able to connect to the tower that's transmitting 4G LTE and in the network settings it would show up as LTE, but no data connection could be established.

May sound simple, but did u do a full wipe between roms? Factory reset? I know after going s-off I had to call sprint so they could send me an update to fix data and calls.

Yes, I did full wipes between roms including factory reset and system wipes. Only my SD cards are left unwiped.
I called sprint support today inquiring about that but the guy just had me go into ##72786# and reset my network connection settings.. didn't help the problem.. Any name to that update that I can ask them for that'll help me get it?

They should have recognized it if it was an error. So calling sprint won't do much. There's an app called network in google play store. Has the option to switch to different bands, or a lot more than any stock program will let u switch to.
Try switching from CDMA auto to Evdo/LTE or the other LTE options and roaming bands they have on there and see if it helps. Hopefully someone with a fix will see this thread soon enough. Only other thing I can think of is the ##4636# (digits may be wrong)and switch some settings in there.

Nothing of the sort fixes the issue.. I'm gonna try reflashing radios.
I'm on 1.15, S-On, HTCDev unlocked, CM10.I have the same issues.
When i reflash the kernel, LTE will work for several hours, and then I get the gray bars of doom. Oddly, I still get a data connection with some apps (Reddit Is Fun, etc.), even though the phone shows no data. It's been so frustrating that I've considered going back to sense...

Yeah that's exactly what happens to me.. and no matter my attempts to airplane mode the phone refuses to connect to 4G LTE data after a few days of reflashing.. So odd.
Just clean flashed deck's most recent build from IRC (9/19?) and I'm having the same problem as before. This time it didn't even make it an hour before LTE went away.
And after searching around, apparently we're the only people in the entire world experiencing this issue.
I wouldn't say entire world because there's isn't a worldwide supply of evos lol

I.E. His statement still stands because we would still be the only people in the world having this problem..
I am honestly stumped as to how to fix this.. Sprint support can't help and I sat in the irc and people would tell me to force lte mode in network settings.. Doesn't work.. Because even though I get data connection.. I then lose the ability to call and text.
I tried paranoid, cm10, and aokp. I couldn't get lte on any of them. And phone calls were at max volume, distorting the speaker even, no matter where the actual volume indicator is.
Went back to a sense based rom and no problems.
1.12 panda hboot, s-off'd, with the new firmware.

I'm having the same Issue. Seems to have started with a Rev of CM10 around the beginning of September. I have been running a Sense ROM for the past few weeks, but I check in every so often to see if deck's made an update. Nothing has worked so far. Anyone have an update or solution to this problem?

I am having the exact same issue as you with the "Greg bars of death". I had good consistent 4g at one point in early September (possible unofficial 9/6 build based on saved speed tests) but not since then. I have also found that having LTE off gives me more reliable 3G data.

Join the club... it's the typical LTE connection issue with the EVO LTE. Its not your phone or updates. Even a 100% stock EVO LTE with all the updates has this issue.

Can't connect to 3G and 4G.

So I have a rooted phone and I was running Mean Rom for a while. I then tried out CM10 from Cyanogen's website. It worked for a while, until I noticed one day it went to 1x in a restaurant we went to. After we left, it never came out of that data mode. When I went to work that night, I just got bars with no data icon (3g or 4g).
I tried rebooting the phone and that didn't work, so I figured I should switch the rom, maybe it's the rom. So I installed Mean Bean (latest), but no results. I formatted the phone three times and I still can't get connecting. THe only way I can connect is switching the data mode to CDMA only. If it's on CDMA/LTE, it doesn't connect. It can't be the service, because my friend has an iPhone 5 from sprint, and he can connect to LTE just fine.
I try to update the PRL and profile, but it seems to fail every time. When I go home, it connects to 3G, but when i come to work, I can't get connected at all.
I can really use some help here please.
Thank you!

Thank you all for your advice. I went home where I knew the service does work, and I updated the account profile first and then the PRL. It told me that it updated the PRL successfully. Good start. Then I went to work, and saw that I still have 3G using the automatic settings (which didn't work last time) and the PRL updated successfully again. Next thing you know it, I have full working 4G again.
Something in the CM10 changed my phone, not sure what it was, but it had me logging into the wrong towers I bet. Not sure. NOt talking ill about CM10, it's a great OS.
Anyway, it's working now, thank you all!

[Q] Rebooting always leaves me with no mobile network

The issue is I cannot turn off 4g. When I do it does connect to 3g but then I have no way of connecting to 4g again. If I reboot I loose all mobile network connection period. No voice/data. The only way to fix this is to factory reset. This is rather annoying. Ive tired three different AOSP roms and all the radios available. Ive tried searching and cant seem to find any other problem like this.

I use the data toggle in whatever rom im using, off to kill 4g, then switch on, and as long as in a 4g area it picks right back up, i would check comparible device in same area, if it works and yours dont may need warranty repair, in which cade odin back to stock in case they send it out, if in 14 day guarentee, verizon reps at least around here do not check modified status, but if they send it in u may get charged.

The only thing that struck me as odd is on stock I had no problems with this. To me that just says it has to be a software issue not a hardware one but again I cant be sure
EDIT: I do use the toggle thats what gets me. I also noticed that when I do have network connection It says LTE/CDMA. After a reboot it says global and will not change to anything else
