How can you send pictures using NFC? - AT&T LG Optimus G

I tried to send some pics to a Lumia 920 and can't get it to do anything but the Lumia shares its pics with my phone easily.

i was fighting with the LGOG and a Nexus S earlier today on the same thing.
the only thing that NFC seemed to communicate was that i was using FileExpert and it sent the NexusS to google app store so i could download it.
was unable to send pictures or files from the LGOG to the Nexus S.
they didn't seem to connect properly.
LGOG is running Base v.5
Nexus S is running CM10

You can send links and basic text between WP and android, but not pictures
Full pictures can only be between android and android or WAP and WP

Also what I heard is pictures are a JB feature. I wasn't able to do it rom my OG and my wife's s3 on jb.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium

Yup, tried NFC out with my E970 and a S3 and I couldn't send or receive pictures. Web links and everything else worked fine.

I think what is the limitation is with JB they increased the size you can send hence pictures. This is all from the back of my mind from quick forum glances but I'm pretty sure that's why. Get aokp, cm10, or an official stock JB rom and you shouldn't have issues anymore.

ICS Premium Suite Birthday Card Maker?

These may seem like a silly questions, however I was watching the premium suite and one of the things I saw was some kind of 3D birthday card app - My first question is where is it? I have upgraded to ICS and I am having a difficult time finding it. My second question is, does the person receiving one of these cards also need to have this app on their phone?
Thank you in advance for any help.
The app is called My Story. To the best of my knowledge, the recipient needs to have the app as well, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, the person you are sending it to has to have the app and be a friend of yours on it. How many people have the note though :/ seriously....
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.mystory
I have to download it from market manually on my phone and then my friend's. The above information is all correct. Neat app, but a little restricting in its use.

The app is now compatible with many Samsung devices, so it's not just Note to Note. My wife has an S3 and worked fine.

Hi! I'm new here, and was wondering how you add friends to the My Story app? I noticed that you were able to send something to your wife through it, and she doesn't have a Note. I REALLY appreciate your help!

I just got the official ICS update here in Canada...
I tried to test out the My Story App on my note and on my dad's note both running stock ICS that got released today but we were both able to send without any error to each other except we don't seem to receive the letter... Does anyone else have this problem or might know how to fix this? Tried on both Wifi and on data (connections are both really strong) so it is not internet problem.
Thank you.

Android beam

Ok so I am trying to send a picture to a Samsung g3 via Android beam and it would send? It sends Internet pages and apps but it wound send a picture... It makes the sound but does not do anything else?
Now when I try to send a pic from the g3 to my phone the g3 makes the nosie and shrinks the pic down and says tab to send.. But once you tap it it acts like it sends but it does not send...
Any ideas?

I don't think NFC can transfer 2mb+ but somebody correct me if ok wrong. It is used to transfer information like contacts, apps, web pages,YouTube links

Android Beam doesn't send photos via NFC in ICS. That was a feature added in JB. Once we get the Jelly Bean update on our phones, it should work. I think it should work if your phone is running CM10.
Thanks guys.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
If the item keeps shrinking and does not send, it is usually because the NFC antennas are not lined up correctly. I assume the GS3's NFC is at exactly the middle and ours is about 1/3 down from the top, so remember to pull the Evo LTE down a bit. Android beam seems to send anything Google apps related well, but nothing else (it will just send the receiver to the play store page). The only things that send reliably for me are contacts. Pictures never seem to send well. It just makes the connection sound but doesn't give me an option to send anything.

I wonder if he paired with blutooth first then used NFC? I would like to know how also
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
As far as I know, Android Beam is not capable of transferring large files. It only utilizes the NFC capabilities of the phone, so it is limited to small files, such as webpage links, app links, playlists, etc. The app on the GS3 utilizes the Wi-Fi in conjunction with the NFC to allow for the transfer of large files.
Down load bump from market . Works great . I'm sending things to my girls LG viper running ics as of 2 data ago

basicly what the gs3 does is when u use the NFC to send picture it actually links the phone via WiFi direct and send the file that way.

Best way to NFC share with my wife's SGS3?

When she invokes her S Beam, my LGOG vibrates, but nothing happens. Same thing when we try with my N7. My N7 has actually sent her something, but I haven't been able to receive anything from her on either device. Is there another app we should be using?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You don't have s beam. Use android beam on both devices. Far as I know your Sol on pictures and video sharing until jb.
Ok, well, Bump worked; for anyone else out there looking for a solution. But good to know it'll work on JB.

Here's what I've tried
I tried using NFC from my LGOG to my wife's SGS3,
I was not able to do photos, but my be able with wifi direct. I am going to play with it some more.
I was able to do the following transfers through NFC:
1) a contact
2) a web url
3) a youtube video and it started where I "bumped" the phones.

Mms compressed when received

This wasn't happening when I first got the phone but now it is happening all the time when I receive photos through messages. Downloading other sms apps doesn't work either. Please help if you can. What's the point of having such a big beautiful screen if I can't use it all.very frustrating

I'm coming from Sprint and the HTC EVO 4G LTE and I have to say I'm really surprised and disappointed by this. I was able to send 2MB pics via MMS over Wifi with my EVO LTE.
I'm not sure if it's an HTC or a T-Mobile thing, but I hope there is a fix for it.
Well t-mobile has a 1mb limit, so if the picture is bigger than that, it does get compressed.
HTC One™
For example: Original picture is 526KB with a resolution of 720X1280. As soon as it's added as an MMS it's automatically compressed to 63KB ... but the same resolution. Upon being the MMS being received it's been reduced to a resolution of 432X768. Size and resolution reduced considerably on a picture that does not exceed 1000KB.
It has to be a htc thing because everything I'm reading on has to do with the evo, the one, the one x, the one v. I started using hangout and that solved the problem. I don't wanna use it forever but it will do for now

It's a problem that has been with the HTC One since day 1. I've made a couple threads on it as have other people. I'd link them up but that's too much work from the ipad. Bottom line is there is no fix and receiving pics via mms sucks on the phone and the only option is to switch to a different one. . I think I'm actually going to pick up a s4 because it drives me crazy.

i never noticed this problem on my evo lte. not once. this is actually the only thing i hate about this phone. been using imgur to upload pics and share links instead of mms, but it stinks that i have to.
and this is why I use gmail to send pics
I've been experiencing the same thing with downsized MMS pics on my One. The people who send me MMS are all using iPhone's or other Android devices, and the pics all come through much smaller than I would expect.
Then today I received a MMS that had a much larger-sized and seemingly-higher-res photo. Interestingly, it was from my father, who is using an LG flip phone (not a smartphone). It's not an old phone, maybe a year, with a 3mp camera. But I thought it was odd that of all the MMS I get that are low-res, that his pics from his non-smartphone would actually come through in higher resolution. Just an interesting observation.
My device: HTC One on T-Mobile US, in Portland, Oregon
My father's device: LG flip phone (not sure model) on AT&T in Portland, Oregon.
Only person I really get MMS from are my fiance & she has a One also they come through like I took them myself.

Snapchat Videos Not lasting 10 seconds

Hi, as the title says, my snap chat videos aren't lasting 10 seconds. In fact, they barely reach past 1/2 seconds most the time. Anyone have the same problem?
Cheers,

then i installed paranoid android and had same problem, til i started halo and then some magic happend and now my snapchat works. but sometimes they say my videos are black. and the autofocus on the back camera wont work.
**** next time i will never buy anything other than nexus if i want to use roms...
Hmm. I'm using OMNI ROM nightlies. All was good on stock ROM. However, on my previous phone (HTC Sensation) I flashed a jelly bean ROM instead of the Stock ROM and had the same problem. Maybe snapchat has a problem with non stock ROMs?
