Yes, this device is rootable.
Hey there, figured I'd give you the heads' up. This device is very easily rootable, and you can find the details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 (seriously, download it, follow the prompts, select 'Other' and ensure your phone is in either MTP or Charge Only mode when connected to USB), sitting on its stock 4.0.4.
Easy does it!
Cheers
If anyone is interested in specs and benchmark for this phone you can find it in this link:

For thr price i recon its a bargain. Its not a samsung s3, but with 1 gb ram 4 g on board i think it good.
Once you load it up it can be a pitty laggy at times, but hey i can cope with with that price, so iam happy with it.
Root ZTE T81
Hi all, It seems that no root method including Bin4ry's and SuperOneClick, have worked on my Telstra ZTE T81 so far, and the bootloader is impossible to access through ADB using "adb reboot bootloader" as the phone seems to go into DFU mode(red light, black screen, no response till you pull the battery out).
Physically I only seem to be able to access recovery mode, FTM, and DFU with a combination of the power and volume keys. I have a suspicion that maybe ZTE, in their recent FOTA update that i naively installed may have something to do with my being completely unable to access the bootloader or root the phone.
Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated
Device: Telstra ZTE T81
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: T81_T01
Kernel version 3.0.8-perf-svn21987

I have bought the phone and it is very good and have also tried rooting the phone aswell. I have done the exact same as you with Bin4ry's and superoneclick and also noticed there seems to be no bootloader. I would like to root my phone but for now I guess we can't
Thanks for useful links.
Thanks for the benchmark link over there. Your links served too good. It was good visiting here. And if someone gets more about this device share it over here as I am looking forward for this phone.

The recent update for the ZTE t81 will also un-root a previously rooted device! I rooted my t81 about 4 months ago with Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31 and it worked perfectly, first time, no problems. However today, after I downloaded the new update, my device lost its root. I am currently in the process of attempting to re-root my device. I will let you know what kind of result I can get.

I tried the above method and it does not work.
There is no "others" to select in the menu.
So have you acutally rooted on of these phones?
I'm not sure if its applicable but this ZTE Avid 4G
{link to GSMArena I'm not allowed to post}
seems a similar specced ZTE phone, apart from the CDMA and FM radio.
If so, would the root method used here work on the T81?

NB: androidforums also say that ROM Manager will permanently brick the Avid 4G

Hmm, I've tried just about every method available and still no results, this device sure is a stubborn one.
I would advise anyone with this phone and wanting to root or keep their root not to update their firmware from the stock version otherwise the phone becomes unrootable. ZTE however, have assured me their update should not effect the rootability of the phone, this doesn't seem to be the case though

Hey guys, i've just tested it and this method works!!!!! just Google a root for the ZTE Avid 4G and you're away laughing, even with the update
Huge thanks to yodhe for this!!!!
Yeah. Worked for me too. Reboots a couple of times and you need to ensure its rebooting into FTM mode.

I have been trying to figure out how to get into the fastboot mode on this pantech burst, really want to root it and maybe remove some of the stuff locked by AT&T. Anyone else find this phone very usable, like me. I think its a great phone and I have had several android phones in the past 2 years and this is my favorite "stock" firmware but just would like to remove the AT&T bloat.
New to Android here. Got the burst cause salesman said it was newest and best in my range. Well there be a way to root this thing anytime soon? Meaning, what I'd the usual wait time for root after a new device is released? Would I be better off to go back and trade for something else like HTC? Always liked HTC OS on my old win mobile devices. Thanks for reply.
My Pantech Burst bench notes
I have 2 brand new Bursts on my work bench. I've been doing some tinkering with them. Here are a few my bare bone notes so far:
Pantech Burst Model P9070
All of the articles I read said the Burst would ship with 2.3.4. Both of mine have 2.3.5. Last minute update?
According to AT&T the Latest Firmware is JUUS12052011
-----
Pull & reinsert the Battery, then hold Power & Volume Down buttons until a screen with a Triangle with Yellow ! appears. Once this pops up, Press the Menu button to make the Android Recovery <3e> menus appear.
At this point, The volume rockers become the up & down Keys. The Home button is Enter
-----
When you Pull & reinsert the Battery, then press & hold both Volume buttons then press Power - "S/W Upgrading" will appear on the screen
-----
So far ZergRush nor OneClick work to achieve Root.

Oh, and you can get the Pantech PC Suite which contains the ADB drivers here:
http://c724062.r62.cf2.rackcdn.com/PantechPCSuite_1.0.10.3314.exe
That's taken directly from Pantech's site.

Here is the link to get open source files from Pantech.

I tried to search for Burst but it found nothing. I think the model number of the burst is "P9070". I searched that and found "P9070_Kernel.zip" file. It shows that it's country code is "KOR" and if I try to download it I get an error message

I did a google search for "P9070_Kernel.zip" and found http://opensource.pantech.com/model/list.asp?Category=Mobile# This still shows the country as KOR but it will let me download it. Not sure if this will help anyone with rooting or making a custom ROM. I am no programmer so I can't do anything with this file.

The P9060 shown on the site is supposed to be the US version of the Kernel.

That is not the US version of the kernel for this device. It is the US kernel for the Panteck Pocket.
The Burst's model number is P9070
The Pocket's model number is P9060
http://www.pantechusa.com/support/pocket
You can try that kernel on the Burst if you want but it may very well brick the device
Saw this while sitting here at work. wondering if once in the recovery could see the device from ADB.... maybe could even do fastboot oem unlock then work from there... all things to try once I get home...
i have this pantech IM-A730s with lock pattern problem.
i had downloaded the kernel zip file from the linsk from above.
can anyone guide me how to reflash the phone?
thx
The "PantechP9070_README.txt" included in what you downloaded clearly shows this is only the Source Code to compile a kernel. It is NOT a flashable Kernel. If you are having problems with your phone, contact Pantech Tech Support. I have spoken with them at length. They are decent people. (Much Much better than they use to be.)

There is a downloadable kernel for the US P9070. If you look into the source info it clearly indicates it is for the AT&t Burst P9070.
Here's how to get into fastboot:
Install Pantech Drivers, from a command line run:
adb reboot bootloader
Your Burst will reboot and reload into a familiar white screen stating FASTBOOT
Now here's something else I figured out... Not quite sure, maybe APX mode?
With the Burst powered off, if USB Debugging is disabled and you plug it into your computer, some useless drivers are enabled (at least for root purposes):
Network Adapters > Pantech Android MDM WWAN
Portable Devices > F:\
Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Pantech Android MDM RMNET Device
Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Pantech Android USB Composite Device
None of these seem too useful for root...
Now boot the Burst, enable USB Debugging, then power down and plug it into your pc again...
In addition to the above, I now have:
Portable Devices > G:\
Android Phone > Pantech Android ADB Interface Ver1
And with that said, I have a working adb connection from a command line without booting into the device...
Also F:\ & G:\ show up in Windows as removable disks, but they cannot be accessed.
Tried to manually push/run GingerBreak, psneuter, and zergRush, so far nothing will root this device

I too am awaiting a strategy for rooting this device but so far, nothing i have tried will work. In order for this to happen, we're going to have to build a custom recovery and/or kernel for this phone and that is not the easiest thing to do lol.... Im currently working on installing my own custom kernel for the Burst so i will keep updates on how that goes and when it will be ready as a flashable .zip package. So far i have foumd the stock kernel pieces wbich now just need to be rebuilt and package into a working kernel with root injected. Im using Sourcery G+ + Lite to build my kernel with the toolchain. If any developers could step forward and help me with this, it would be vreatly appreciated. I have the Toolchain and the kernel.gz file on hand, if anyone is interested in taking a swing at it with me, reply here or drop me a PM.
I just want to say that this is an awesome phone with specs on par if not better than the GSII and other high-end phones that's begging for custom ROMs. It came out a couple of months ago and still NOBODY in the whole internet (Google at least lol) seems to be doing anything on it, I can't even fond stock FWs or official flashing tools...I'm a sad panda
I bought it yesterday for 200$ brand new and no commitment. I think this is a sick price for a dual core Android phone.
As for the rooting, I am willing to help you guys work on root. What kind of things should I do? What is a general strategy when rooting something ?
$200 is a good deal. Where did you get it? I wanna learn about all those kernel, adb ,rooting, cooking roms and stuff. But I'm scared to brick my nexus. Burst is definitely a good phone to try. Benchmark score high too

I got it from ebay. There are ton's of Bursts with the price range of 200-250$.
It will arrive tomorrow, I will write a little review once I get it
Please do! It's not perfect but with the right ROM (CM9 please!) or at least Root, I think it will be!!
My girlfriend has one. I really like it. The screen is beautiful, much better than my thunderbolt. The default launcher is pretty nice too, simple but works nice. It doesn't have the complex overlay like sense or blur, so I hope they will update quickly with new Android versions.

Meanwhile... There is another Dual Core Pantech that has been rooted.
Here is more info about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426984
Some root method should work, but I rather have CWM and a way back to stock working first! Because I rooted a Pantech Pocket and erased a system file by accident and it didn't boot anymore.

I can help you get rooted. First you will need to install drivers on your PC so your device can communicate with the root program. Then try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43163569&postcount=7
If that dont work, let me know. You can always use MTK Droid Tools and SP flash tool to pull your stock recovery and port it into a custom recovery that will allow you to flash a simple root.zip
Hope this helps!

Try using this, it installs drivers for many different phones, it may not be the actual manufacturers drivers for your specific device but it will help get your phone talking to your PC:
http://www.snappea.com/
Also - Make sure you are going into settings and turning USB debugging on. You can usually find this under Settings > Developer Options.

Go here and download MTK Droid Tools from first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490&styleid=18
Run the program and connect your phone to PC, this tool will tell you lots of info about your phone but the main function is to possibly back up your stock firmware (This is good to have if you plan on trying to flash anything to the phone, this way you will have your stock files to fall back on in case something you flash to the phone does not work.) Once you have MTK Droid Tools running and phone connected, what does it say next to Hardware on the phone info tab please?
I am not sure off top of my head about updating to a higher version of Android but this back up step is REALLY important. It is hard if not impossible to find stock firmware floating around on the net for these chinese clone devices. IF you have stock files backed up you can flash almost anything you want knowing you have a way to restore your phone to working order. IF you look around here on XDA you will see tons of posts by people looking for the stock firmware for their clone phone after soft bricking it playing around. Sadly there is not much help for them unless they find someone with the EXACT same phone and are willing to share their back up (if the next person made one theirselves that is!)

Hello everyone, I'm here because someone told me to write here about my problem while trying to root my cellphone. As the tittle shows, it is a LG L70 with android 4.4.2 (KitKat). Well, here it goes:
I've been looking for many different ways to root my phone since I have been having some troubles with its storage, so I looked for solutions and everyone told me that I need to root my phone, so I'm trying, but there is no app, or pc program able to do it. I found about "Purple Drake" and it was supossed to be the solution to my problem but at the end it wasn't. While making the process to root my phone it shows a message like this:
Error: Your phone is not running a compatible software version. No vulnerable mode detected, rebooting phone.
We tried to temproot you, and it didn't work. This phone isn't vulnerable, it would appear.
Please post on XDA with your phone model, carrier, and SW version.
Well... My phone is a LG L70 (LGMS323) with android 4.4.2, the software version is MS32310c (but, in the purple drake software it appears as "V10c"). It used to be from MPCS but it was changed to "Movistar" (A mexican company), anyway in the software it stills appearing as a MPCS phone. I really need somebody to help me, as I said before I have many problems with the storage of the phone and I need to solve them, but to do so I need to root the phone.
That's it, I hope you can help me. Thank you for reading. Happy new year

patience and some curiosities searching the forums
youll have to downgrade your firmware and then find the correct root process
just a lil research ;D
it is capable
/ wont happen unless stated above
through a website i.e; tr

ZTE Warp 7 N9519 for Boost - Any help to unbrick
I have ZTE Warp 7 N9519 for Boost, I try to root it by kingroot apk last verison. After successfully root this device, I restart it but no longer work, only boot with ZTE logo then black screen.
When I connect it to PC, it appears as (Qualcomm ZTE .....).
Please, Can any one help me to unbrick it.
Flash stock rom
google it
Thats weird because 90% of the people get the issue that they get temporary root then the phone reboots by itself and removes root. I never got a black screen when it finished rebooting. You may have a technical issue or you went to far and did something else.
Has anyone got twrp for this phone I can get temp root but can't find twrp to install when I have temp root
No, the only way to get perm root is to unlock bootloader but the phone doesn't seem to have one.
I think there might be a way I Can't get into recovery to fix it either. So got an idea from what was done on HTC desire 526 to unlock the bootloader but the bootloader option won't work for us but the part we need may work, Unless ZTE turned the feature off which I hope they didn't since since they screwed us on fastboot. So I'd like to try and make the phone boot completely from the ext. SD card. As I understand it's a less than known feature in case something happens to the Emmc. Also we would be able to have almost complete access to be able to change anything even flash custom roms without touching the internal memory . I realize it's not the same chip set as the HTC desire 526 is 8909 and our warp 7 is 8916. But still a Qualcomm and it's a good chance this is built into most Qualcomm based chip sets. As I understand it it can still work for our device and other Qualcomms. We just need someone kind enough to make a COMPLETE backup for us using dd commands. Then we can try and write that to an SD card to be an exact copy of the internal phone SD. but that may not work so we would have to use db boot tools but unless someone can give me a solid educated reason y it's a waste of time. I'm willing to put in the effort to try if I can get someone kind enough to post the complete copy. Would love to try this on my ZTE grand x3 too. So please anyone up to offer they're help with providing a complete image or constructive help would be awesome.
I think this device can only be temporary rooted. I know it is too old post but if you still need help, contact me. I have full qualcomm firmware for qfil (v07., v.09 and v10 (readed firmware))...

What lol
I just got this new phone. Can anyone give me working links and genuine tutorials on ROOT Procedures, TWRP and Custom ROM for UMIDIGI C2. Custom ROM is my biggest need. Thanks in advance for help.
Hi, did you find a working custom ROM?
I also have a C2 purchased for my son for xmas that I should have checked before buying if it was rootable as it has too much bloatware on it that I'd like to remove but can't as classed as system packages.
I've googled the web and not found anyone who has rooted one yet so hoping one of the excellent developers on here will have a go as its a nice phone, well spec'd and priced and suruprised given its been out since around June it hasn't been rooted yet.
Another Umidigi C2 user here, also interested in replacing default system.
TWRP for C2 not yet available?
Here is Root https://romprovider.com/2017/11/install-twrp-root-umidigi-c2/
Has anybody given a try?
I haven't yet and did download all the tools to my onedrive (work and home) unfortunatly my work antivirus system picked up dumpimage.exe as a risk and quaratined it although suspect thats a false positive or purely picked up due to the nature of the tool https://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2010-022501-5526-99&vid=24060
May have a try this evening although I'm not sure if once rooted its best to put the latest vanilla android on it (if possible) or just use the power of root to remove all the preinstalled 'system' crap?

Hmmm.. First option seems easier..? :crying:
I had a go but despite adb reboot bootloader working (after enable Developer USB Debug and OEM Boot) I could't get fastboot oem unlock to work.
I've little experience of Android devices as my own mobile is an iPhone 6S which jailbroken on iOS 9.x and despite Jailbreaks of iOS being few and far between, when they do come they seem to be a lot easier to perform that most android roots which I'd have thought by the very nature of android's 'open' nature shouldn't really be as difficult with so many steps as they appear to be.
I think I'll need a better guide as the one mark332 posted with the root image (thanks Mark332...if it works), does seem a little generic and possibly untested?

Allthough I have rooted myself all my previous mobile phones, (Jiayou, ZTE, Xiaomi), nevetherless I agree, guide probably is not tested.. I guess we have to be patient, expecting some better.. From the other side C2 seems to be a good phone but so annoying because of bloatware..
There are some poor informations here https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=836202&st=320 but even with translator hard to understand.
It is only about replacement of the default launcher with Google's.
Any news for C2..??
Matinaki I wrote you a private message
unsuccess

I also gave a try. After typing adb reboot bootloader device booted in Fastboot Mod but after typing Fastboot Devices device manager suddenly does not see device. So, I'm stuck too..
Because of UMI's "Efuse partition protection" seems we will not able to root this phone. So, better to throw it to trash. No root, no phone..
Any news on this thread ?
I am the unlucky owner of an UMIDIGI C2 and I am extremely frustrated by the unability to change the default launcher.
I sincerely hope someone is able to help on this issue ...

For the moment you can do nothing.
There is some information here http://community.umidigi.com/thread-16167-3-1.html how to remove all that annoying bloatware and as I see "initiator" Included. If you try it, I guess, you have to install a custom launcher in advance.
Locked Bootloader
Hi guys
I tried with ADB Fast boot to unlock bootloader from UMIDIGI C2 but impossible. Experts, please help..!:crying:
Well..I guess many unhappy owners will like this information. After "clean install" of the official ROM, phone is completely clean of bloatware and also very friendly after Apex launcher installation.
