It's a very good device, but you'll be best to get a 2A wall charger for it and a powered USB hub. The slightest bit of drain on it causes flickering and crackling which is very unpleasant.
Other than that it's awesome. I use DroidMote on my tablet to control it, but it needs to be rooted first (instructions on Rikomagic forum).
It's now my full-time media player for the TV, streaming across network shares and as a DLNA client. For the price it's unbeatable.

Really hoping to have this setup on my sg2 when its released. Basicly you dock your phone to a monitor, KB, mouse, speakers, etc.. then you boot up Ubuntu on your phone. Only for dual core phones. Allows you to do all your computing as well as phone calls, SMS, mms, etc. Can use your 4g or wifi. Can't wait.
Here is the official site for all the info. http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/android

Yeah I saw this on phandroid looks pretty sweet
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
This looks really promising. Hopefully it turns out better than the system that was attempted for the atrix.

Well, hmm, how would the dock work now... Is it for phones that already have a docking capability like the Atrix that now will have an Ubuntu alternative, or; will Samsung and other manufacturers make these docks so that their users can dock and use Ubuntu, or; will Ubuntu make a somewhat universal dock using the microUSB for example, which then spreads out into mice/keyboard/display. Overall, I'm just trying to see whether or not we're going to be included.

initially at least it didn't seem like this is going to come for us, right now it looks like the work they've done with the Atrix is mostly just to change webtop application that it normally runs with and I think I saw that it was only for devices with micro USB and hdmi output
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Yeah, the HDMI thing lost my hope a bit, but I think our phones do have a way to output via HDMI, or at least, my point is, a dock could be made to support the GS2 if someone were to make it. But yeah, the line:
Easy to integrate with existing Android phones in development

Confuses me as it sounds like it can be easily integrable, but at the same time, I just really don't know. We'll see what happens, I guess...
The SGH-I777 does have an MHL port, just like the GT-I9100 and the Infuse - it just, for whatever reason, didn't come with an adapter in the box like the Infuse did.
So if we can output to a TV/Monitor via HDMI and MHL we could use the slick web top type application?
I wonder if this will be downloaded-able as an "App" or will need to be more built in to the framework/rom itself (seems more likely). Very exciting though, to have desktop capabilities on a phone would be awesome.
Plus the exynos running on our phone would be much smoother than the Tegra 2 running on the Atrix.
any news? when will be this ubuntu solution available?
Give that this is from Feb, think its safe to say no news. Lets try to avoid necro-bumping threads like this...
Im trying to find a solution to not having to plug my note up via hdmi cable.
so far my best option seems to be dlna but my tv doesnt have that function built in.
does anyone know of a solution or am i out off luck?
If u have an xbox or ps3 u can get an app like air sync or double twist to wirelessly stream video

im trying it right now but so far its laggy as hell
my upload speed is at .6 mb on a speed test i just did on my phone
not sure if that s the reason...maybe my router is messed up
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
If you have a samsung tv or a smartv it the tv itself might support certain apps that will work. Samsung has Swipe, and Allshare. Other tv's might support Allshare as well.
It doesn't sound like you have one though so I don't have a better solution for you
I just bought a smart TV and would love to use my phone wirelessly to my TV not just for streaming but for games and web surfing as well.
have not played with my new TV to much should there be some sort of app/store that i need to access on my TV to get these.

You can also stream to windows media player if you have an old pc laying around.
Currently I have an E4GT, and my BT works great. I can connect my S9-HDs, PS3 controller, wii-mote without a hitch.
This wasn't the case with my OGEvo, the audio would cut in and out, and I couldn't connect any controllers without being on CM.
Is there any info about the BT stack on the 4G LTE? I'm asking here because I assume that it's different that in the OneX, if I'm incorrect let me know and I'll ask over there.
It looks like it has many more profiles then og 4G. I saw some has a wiimote paired with one x (although it is laggy)

I think they'll probably have the same stack. WiiMotes work fine with my One X, I didn't have trouble with latency. My Phonejoy also works fine. PS3 controllers work with Root via Sixaxis app, although I'm presently locked to stock while reviewing the handset for Telecom NZ, so haven't personally confirmed that.
Bluetooth audio should be much better, since BT 4.0 has much higher bandwidth for audio streaming (although the receiving device may end up being the bottle neck). If you have a receiving device that is also Apt-X capable then the audio will be excellent, basically the same as wired up to around 370kbps (the Samsung HS3000 is cheap, versatile, and has Apt-X).

I just read on another thread that our EVO does not have BT 4.0. Does the One X have it though?

Really? I'd be surprised if it didn't, since all the other One series phones do (maybe not the One V, but the others at any rate).
Yes, the international One X has BT 4.0

Just add E4GLTE and any other phone then select connectivity towards the bottom of the page. It says Bluetooth 3.0+

This is what the build.prop from the latest Jewel leak says:
Code:
# system property for Bluetooth Hardware information
ro.product.bluetooth=4.0
That suggests BT 4.0 to me.
Hope my icontrolpad works with it. From these comments it looks like it should. I like stock but a huge reason I want this phone is to run emulators on that awesome screen and have it propped up nice on that kickstand during my lunch hour.
I've already bought the Sixaxis app from the Play Store as I use that with my PS3 controller on my Prime. Would be great if it really does work on the Evo LTE as I wouldn't even have to spend any more cash.

Hello!
I've stop using my Atrix since about 3 months ago, so I'm no longer in the game.
Any suggestions to what ROM should be used if one wanted to use XBMC only?
The phone will be constantly plugged in and will always have power. It would be great if the ROM supported video mirroring with hd playback and good decoding.
Any suggestions?
I've used it on both CM7 and CM10. Personally, I didn't notice a difference. I did not try playing anything as I've no media on my phone, but was able to load navi-x and stream stuff fine. It was slow, but I think that was due to it being in beta.
I'm not sure, but I don't remember seeing "Audio over HDMI" option in CM7... It's nice if you have a home theater and want sound coming from speaker system and not just the TV.
Edit: As a side note, it was a pain to work with the interface on such a small screen. Have you considered something like raspberry pi and selling/donating the Atrix?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
well, I have considered selling it, but the digitizer has a dead stripe, so the phone doesn't really have any value. The raspberry pi is the next logical step if this doesn't work out!
When I retire my Atrix, I will most likely turn it into a pseudo laptop since I bought a lapdock. They're pretty cheap, have you considered that alternative?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
I have a lapdock from the states, but I find it basically useless, since I haven't gotten swedish keyboard layout to work on it.

I have exactly the same scenario. I have an Atrix , unrooted, but the screen no longer works and its basically redundant. I have the smart dock and ideally would like too use it as a dedicated media player with xBMC and a remote, leaving it connected to my TV at all times.
Would appreciate it if you could share any success you have in setting this up.
Thanks!
any progress?
I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my atrix.
Have you had any success using yours as an xbmc machine or did you scrap it for a pi?
I would also like to make my atrix into a dedicated XBMC box. I have a HD dock and would like to use it with the remote. I attempted to install the newly released xbmc for android on a gingerbread rom (Neutrino). I got a message that xbmc is not compatible with my device. I assume that it can work with an ics or jb rom. It works on my galaxy nexus. Any suggestions on which one would have the best support for hdmi output and hd dock?
I have CM10 Epinter JB and xbmc works on my phone. I have to open my player first and then xbmc app.

I'm looking into buying a chromecast dongle but wanted to get some opinions. I mainly want to use the mirroring feature and don't want to have to connect a cord to do it. I've read a few reviews on some dongles and some on them they say that the wifi used to mirror to the tv also interferes with the data wifi. Any suggestions on what I should buy would be appreciated. Thanks!

Chromecast is relatively the cheapest and best way to go. Just do it... you'll be happy you did.
Also Amazon has it for 30$ and so does Bestbuy. Never found it any cheaper than this. $5.50 lower than most others.
And chromecast has the mirroring feature to? Didn't see it in the features list.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
I thinks is called streaming not mirroring but from what I understand you can serve any file to and play it as long as the device can share over your network.
I use the Netgear PTV3000, which does wireless mirroring. I bought it last year. It's been basically stuffed in the closet most of the time except for when i was travelling. It had a lot of stuttering, and disconnects. Basically had to close all apps, and had to keep the phone close to the device to minimize the issues.
Getting ready for a new trip. So took it out a few days ago and saw there was a new firmware update for it. All I can say it's a night and day difference. Now it streams video perfectly clear to the TV with my Note 3, no more stuttering, and do not have to keep the phone right by PTV3000 anymore.
I have the Chromecast as well the only issue is it doesn't play flash videos, and few other formats. An if your going to use it while in a hotel you will need a portable router as well. With the PTV3000 anything you have on your screen will stream to the tv, without needing a router.
A neat feature with the PTV3000, and the Note 3 stock video app. Is I can minimize the app, browse the web, or do other things while the video still plays on the tv without interruption.

it was a couple of days ago, but I'm using another way, and want to inform you.
Im Using Tronsmart T1000. And I had also a PTV3000, but I'm not so lucky with this.
The Tronsmart works easy, connect my Android Tablett (Samsung Tab 2) as well as my Note 3 . And I can connect my Windows Laptop with this Dongle.
Mirroring and other things are running fine.
I've bought this from Everbuying.com ;
http://www.everbuying.com/product535239.html (was cheap and easy). But you can also check it by Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Tronsmart-T1000-Mirror2TV-Wireless-Compatible/dp/B00H2D3N0M
Because of the features from T1000 I recommend it in all ways. It makes a WLan Connection to the Home-Router, that you can redirect from Tronsmart direct to the internet. And all connected devices are running fine.
