Hello, I have an Ematic eGlide Steal 7 inch tablet. It is unrooted (it's factory but the Flixter app insists it is Rooted) running 4.0.3. I try to install Chrome from the old Google Market app (play won't work on this device) and when ever I try to run it it locks up the entire tablet with in 30 seconds of launch forcing me to press the reset button. Has anyone encountered the same issues and/or know how to fix this? The only place i have seen on the forums with anything close to this was with the beta versions which I am not running.
I'm not finding hardly any development for this device. I did find a guide that shows how to root the Ematic eGlide Steal so I have root now but still can't get the pay store to show up. It shows it is installed under manage apps but it does not show up in the app drawer.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I got android market to work on my nook tablet. Don't know if anyone else was able to yet. I pulled market apk off of droid charge and pushed it to nook, installed and it let me enter user info. I will post screen shot in a minute.
UPDATE:
Added photo and APK I used
UPDATE 2:
Upon attempting to download anything from market app forces closes, will not open again.

Working for me too!
Great work!
I tried to download NoLED for example and it forced closed. Is anyone else having this issue?
mine just closes when it asks me to add an account. I wonder if its because ive tried to install the market previosly....

I spoke too soon, it launches but force closes.
It is now force closing on me, on the plus side if I access android market from computer it now lists Nook Tablet as one of my devices.
I got it to run once, then it force closed when i tried to download something. Now it force closes on Start.
It also crashes for me when I try to install or update an app. I wonder if this has to do with the same storage issue Amazon Market had before I installed an SD card. Before installing an SD card, Amazon Market refused to install anything. It appears that Android Market might prefer to crash.
Op, can you change the title of the thread? I don't want to lead any one on.
Thanks for the effort tho, we shall keep trying.
Title changed =( Man I was so excited for a minute.
Looks like it quits on start because its still trying to download what ever app you last selected.
Does android generate an error report when apps force close? If so perhaos we could pull that and alter android market apk to work around issue. Just a thought.

Right guys. I had this issue on my D255 netbook when installing it. I'm trying to remember the solution, but if I'm right your logs should complain about a problem with download manager?

I pushed an app to nook via android matket website, after a few minutes NT attempted to install. It is still sitting here attempting to start download.

I'm uploading you my /system/app, just nick the files that you need, install a market 3.3.11 APK, with the libs & other stuff from a gapps-mdpi (froyo build) (CyanogenMod site) and it should work

The system app folder
The app 'Firefox' is actually chrome, I'm quietly working on full chrome for android, but it needs a 1gb IMG for the SD Card

I pulled charges framework apk and tried again, same result. I can post if you want.
Hi
Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I don't think this is an issue specific to my phone model.
I have this really annoying issue. When I go into the Android Market (or Play Store) and I look at my apps it previously showed purchased apps but now it shows all the apps I've ever installed. If I want to install an app I purchased previously I have to search through all the hundreds of apps I have ever installed!
I've tried to find a resolution via Google but I keep getting results showing how to clear market search history.
Does anyone know what I'm referring to and know how to fix this? Like I said, previously before I upgraded to ICS the market only showed installed apps and purchased apps that I haven't installed, now it shows every app I have ever installed and it seems to include apps I installed on my android tablet!
Thanks
Lee

Welcome to the new play store. This is intentional and functions the same as the iOS app store.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Its an annoying idea. We should at least have the option to turn it off. If I try an app and don't like it I uninstall it, why would I want to constantly see an app that I don't want! Haha.
I like Android because, among other things, it isn't iOS.
Thanks
Lee

l lost my USB cord that came with my tablet. l can still charge it with an aftermarket charger, but I have no usb connector to plug into a computer. I have a stock unrooted ice cream sandwich tablet. Is there anyway to root it without a USB cord?

I think you can through mobile Odin app. I have not used it but I read somewhere that it works.

You can't use mobile Odin because it requires root access. AFAIK, there is no way to root it without USB.

Solution
It is possible. You need to use an app not found on the Play Store, and get it using an APK file. The play store is basically a storage place in the cloud for loads of APKs, and it can install them, too. However you can also download these from the internet and run them to install them. These will let you root your phone with one click in the app. There are many of these available. With every app there is always the risk of bricking your tablet, but this is minimal. If you then want to get a custom ROM, you will want an app called ROM Manager.

Hey dude, first of all, ROM Manager is in the play store. Second, it needs root to flash the recovery.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Find an app that can root for you, then get ROM Manager. You can't post links when you're under 10 posts

If there is an apk that could root my tablet, i'd be soooo happy...:silly:
I found one on my HTC Hero that did the trick. I don't think it was on the play store though... I think it's called Universal Androot
Framaroot doesn't work. I don't know what other .apk there is to try.

I recently wanted to ROOT my Samsung GT-P7500 and upon trolling the web, I came upon this website. So i went about searching and failng to find a suitable answer, I researched a bit and found an easy way to ROOT my tablet.
Being an owner of 2 Samsung products, Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710) and an Galaxy Express (SGH-I437), I had ROOTED both these cell phones using KingrootV4.82. It's really simple, push button rooting.

Kingroot worked here as well.
I recently rooted my Note 3 for Sprint on NC5. Every root app I have downloaded has worked for me so far. But when I try to run an app called dSploit, an Android Pen Testing Suite, it says my device isn't rooted and continues to then close the app. Does anyone know if this would be on my end, or the applications? The site of which the app is located is dsploit.net. Or if anyone can give me some insight on why it would be saying my phone isn't rooted.

It's particle that the app is looking for a specific root app... It's a rather outdated way of programming, but some apps work better with supersu vs the other one... I can't remember which is the other one. If the app has its own forum, I'd ask there.

Well, after not even having my phone rooted for a day, it seems like i have already probably bricked it. I hard reset my phone which normally wouldnt cause a problem if i didnt 1) delete the home launcher and 2) delete the keyboard app. So i can neither get on apps or type. Only thing i can access is the settings panel. My phone is a Kyocera Event running 4.0.4 if that helps. Is there any way to recover from my noob mistake or have i bricked my first phone? lol
Well i figured out if i can just install a home launcher on it then ill be ok but i cant figure out how to install an app on there without being able to access the google play store. Can anyon tell me how to install an app on my phone via pc? Thats probably the only way. If anyone can help id be very thankful thanks a ton:banghead:

Open the play store from your computer web browser, sign in with the same mail you use in your phone and get a launcher. It will download and install automatically in your phone.
Will it still install to that phone even though my email isnt on the phone anymore? It was deleted when i reset the phone
Sent from my SGH-T499 using XDA Free mobile app
Ops, my bad, i forget you did a reset. Well, you can open settings, right? Add your Google account again, then download the launcher from play store.
I wish i could but i deleted the stock keyboard apps too :banghead: if i could find a way to access my sd card, install an app on my phone via pc or get to the google play store then i could fix this. Next time i definitly wont be touching any non bloatware apps lol
