[Q] Rooted phone - But not fully rooted? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I recently rooted my Note 3 for Sprint on NC5. Every root app I have downloaded has worked for me so far. But when I try to run an app called dSploit, an Android Pen Testing Suite, it says my device isn't rooted and continues to then close the app. Does anyone know if this would be on my end, or the applications? The site of which the app is located is dsploit.net. Or if anyone can give me some insight on why it would be saying my phone isn't rooted.

It's particle that the app is looking for a specific root app... It's a rather outdated way of programming, but some apps work better with supersu vs the other one... I can't remember which is the other one. If the app has its own forum, I'd ask there.

I'm willing to bet not at first. I believe Verizon will keep it off so that it can substitute its own program that does the same thing. Then after a bit the devs will get it working for everyone to use.
I'm pretty bummed the device's for VZ are still shipping without Wallet...The previous "excuse" from VZ was that
...because Google Wallet did "not simply access the operating system and basic hardware of our phones like thousands of other applications," the service "needs to be integrated into a new, secure and proprietary hardware element in our phones"....

I can't see how that excuse given last December is still valid now...If i was a customer of VZ id be pitching a fit...only reason why i somewhat care is b/c the wife is. lol
btw has anyone tried the method mentioned here to get it on their device? Have to use the default android browser to do it evidently, so no Dolphin, or Chrome even...
http://www.androidauthority.com/google-wallet-for-verizon-galaxy-nexus-50922/
...How to Install Google Wallet on Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus Manually:
1. Open browser on your phone and open http://market.android.com
2. Look for Google Wallet
3. If the browser prompts you to open the Market, don’t. You should stay in the browser.
4. Once results come back, tap on the icon for Google Wallet.
5. Tap the Install button before signing into your Google account.
Remember, you are doing this from the browser and not from the Market app.
6. When you have already signed in, you will be redirected to the Market page in the browser.
7. Don’t be surprised to discover that you don’t have an option to install the app since it doesn’t support Verizon.
8. Tap the back button so you are prompted for the Browser or Market again. This time, choose the Market.
This will let you open the Google Wallet page through the Android Market. You will get the option to install already.

The method doesn't work, but there appears to be an .apk somewhere that can be installed.
I installed it successfully on my DINC4GLTE. It just does not have the permissions to allow use yet.

I tried the Nexus method (or very similar) on the nexus I had for a week before the Inc4 was released and it worked. Haven't tried it on my Inc4 but it's on my list... I'm kind of waiting for JB ROM or CM10 before I start messing around too much. It was sure nice (JB) for the two days I ran it on the Nexus!
Interesting article about Wallet working on our device:

Got it to install using the apk, but still getting the "not supported on your carrier" message, then it closes. Anyone with root try the build prop mod?

I can see it in the Play Store with that direct link but it still says not available for my phone. So I can't install it.
guys try this one, it has been modded so as not to check for supported devices: http://d-h.st/VZi

Started installing, halted, "application not installed", then exited. Is this a root only version?

I tried to install it as well and it just says Application not installed. I have not rooted either. Could that be the issue?

Actually yeah. I think you have to put it in /system/app
:/
Yeah that's no good for us non-root people
Ignore this post...had an idea...was worthless, like my life atm.
For those that are rooted you can try the version from Modaco. http://www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-15-r75-v6/
It will open but gives me an "insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (release keys)" error. I'm still researching this one.

[Q] Ematic eGlide Steal Tablet freezing when trying to run chrome

Hello, I have an Ematic eGlide Steal 7 inch tablet. It is unrooted (it's factory but the Flixter app insists it is Rooted) running 4.0.3. I try to install Chrome from the old Google Market app (play won't work on this device) and when ever I try to run it it locks up the entire tablet with in 30 seconds of launch forcing me to press the reset button. Has anyone encountered the same issues and/or know how to fix this? The only place i have seen on the forums with anything close to this was with the beta versions which I am not running.
I'm not finding hardly any development for this device. I did find a guide that shows how to root the Ematic eGlide Steal so I have root now but still can't get the pay store to show up. It shows it is installed under manage apps but it does not show up in the app drawer.

Is it possible to root without Connecting to PC?

l lost my USB cord that came with my tablet. l can still charge it with an aftermarket charger, but I have no usb connector to plug into a computer. I have a stock unrooted ice cream sandwich tablet. Is there anyway to root it without a USB cord?

I think you can through mobile Odin app. I have not used it but I read somewhere that it works.

You can't use mobile Odin because it requires root access. AFAIK, there is no way to root it without USB.

Solution
It is possible. You need to use an app not found on the Play Store, and get it using an APK file. The play store is basically a storage place in the cloud for loads of APKs, and it can install them, too. However you can also download these from the internet and run them to install them. These will let you root your phone with one click in the app. There are many of these available. With every app there is always the risk of bricking your tablet, but this is minimal. If you then want to get a custom ROM, you will want an app called ROM Manager.

Hey dude, first of all, ROM Manager is in the play store. Second, it needs root to flash the recovery.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Find an app that can root for you, then get ROM Manager. You can't post links when you're under 10 posts

If there is an apk that could root my tablet, i'd be soooo happy...:silly:
I found one on my HTC Hero that did the trick. I don't think it was on the play store though... I think it's called Universal Androot
Framaroot doesn't work. I don't know what other .apk there is to try.

I recently wanted to ROOT my Samsung GT-P7500 and upon trolling the web, I came upon this website. So i went about searching and failng to find a suitable answer, I researched a bit and found an easy way to ROOT my tablet.
Being an owner of 2 Samsung products, Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710) and an Galaxy Express (SGH-I437), I had ROOTED both these cell phones using KingrootV4.82. It's really simple, push button rooting.

[SOLVED] Was this app always there? "Touchscreen Firmware Flasher"

So, I opened up the app menu, and listed there is "Touchscreen Firmware Flasher"
I don't think it was there before I installed a few apps. Anyways, I proceeded to open it and it immediately asked for root access. I declined, then proceeded to kill the app. I currently have the app disabled (seems you can't uninstall it).
Could someone running CM10.1 on the Nook Tablet please check if you have app? If not, it means I somehow got a virus.
I'll reset the device if needed.
The app is normally installed with CM10. It enables multi touch that is needed for some games. If you don't know what it is you probably don't have any need for it. I know I don't!

Phew! Thanks for the reply. I thought for a second that I might have gotten some kind of malicious app somehow.
It either upgrades/flashes the 10 point sensitivity capable firmware for the display, or flashes back to standard if already updated.
Can be removed/deleted once used or if not desired.

cant install verizon cloud after flash

Hey, for some reason when I go to download Verizon Cloud to restore some of my data it won't let me download it, it says "this item isn't available on your carrier" even though I have a Verizon phone.
Any help would be appreciated!
Also the ROM that I installed was Tron 2.2, runs super smoothly

On Tron, and most other AOSP/AOKP ROMs, the phone no longer identifies itself as a "Verizon" phone, so Verizon specific apps don't work... Some of them you can side load and will work, others will not or will only work partially since most of them require other Verizon specific apps and services to be running on the phone and I don't know of any AOSP ROMs that have those services loaded. Check the various APK repositories and try to install, but to be honest it's only a 50/50 chance it will work.
This is the reason that we generally use Ultimate Backup (or Titanium Backup, My Backup, etc) and Nandroid images, and Google cloud based services and do not use Verizon services on custom ROMs.
Alright, fixed the issue, went into my build.prop and changed "ro.carrier" from "unkown" to "verizon" and aloud me to download it.
