Are we able to do this in Sense? I know you can on iOS, but I have yet to find a setting for it in Sense.

im also looking for something like this, and also have the ability to repeat notifications at set times. I work in a pretty loud and fast environment and its pretty hard for me to even feel my phone vibrate much less hear it, which is why I need it to keep repeating. Something like lightflow would be nice and the actual light doesn't really matter to me, just the repeating and ability to set individual tones. I tried lightflow, but I couldn't get it to work.
The only thing I can find in sense is different ringtones per contact. As far as multiple notification reminders, I think GoSms Pro (free) supports that.

Yes. I'm using go sms right now, but hand cent also supports text reminders. I just need to find a way to get custom text tones. I like to use it that way so I know who to reply to first in order of importance.

Hmm. I'm trying out light flow today. It seems to be working okay for right now.

I gave lightflow a try, but for some reason I couldn't get my phone to wake up so I promptly uninstalled it once I got it to boot. I was messing around with different settings in there so maybe ill leave them on default and ill give it a try. I think I checked the special htc option in the settings, and that might have done something.
In Handcent if you go to an existing conversation there is an icon in the top right of a person with a gear. In this menu you can set custom notification ringtones for that person.
I use chompSMS and it allows me to assign custom ringtones for each contact. I had to download it through their site.

I recently started having this problem where I keep getting 2 notifications for texts after using 2.1
I use handscent sms and turned off all notifications from the default messaging app but they both still notify me of a new text. Its annoying itll vibrate twice, ringer twice. plus I cant even get the default sms thing in the notification bar to go away unless I manually clear it. Never had this problem for the months I had this phone before the update.
Anyone come across this or know how to fix it?
(oh and I tried a search but the xda search engine is down, it's down like 50% of the time I try to use it, so please no harsh remarks about a repeat post if this is one)

Google always works.
google brought me right to this post. so at least the next guy with this problem will be able to fix it if anyone has an answer....? I cant be the first one with this stupid double notification.
seemingly, after disabling notifications, removing the messages shortcut from the homescreen does the trick, although i havn't tried this myself.
you wont loose the messaging its still in your APPS list.
just tried it and it does work

I had the problem for the longest time. I eventually found out that it was the SMS widget in Beautiful Widgets that was causing the problem, even though you hadn't activated it. Uninstall Beautiful Widgets and see if it works.

i had the same problem a while back too. and by disabling the notifications it still didn't work. what i ended up doing was clearing the SMS center number under network settings and retyping it in manually. worked like a charm

I like the actual dialer itself, the buttons are nice and big and easy to hit, but there are a few things about it i wish were a bit more intuitive. For one, i believe on my old phone, when you start punching letters/numbers it would tend to pull up the most expected result...so if you call a number a lot that would be above say someone you don't ever call. but this doesn't do that so i am constantly seeing the same random contact at the top when i punch the first FOUR digits for one of my top dials. Which brings my next point, i don't like that you only get one choice to start, my old phone i could see like 4 or so contacts then touch the one in the list from there. on this dialer, i always have to hit the thin bar where it tell how many matches you have, and it's easy to miss that with your finger. I also wish that when you come into the dialer it listed more than just your last single connection.
I may try out something else, any suggestions?

Try typing the digits that correspond with the first few letters in the name of the person you are trying to call
That is what I am doing now

I hate the stock dialer bc it ONLY shows ONE name/number when you start dialing. I'm used to seeing at least 4 names/numbers on that screen. I use GO Dialer instead. It's an ugly shade of blue, but the keypad is transparent translucent, and also goes away when you scroll the list of names/numbers.
I like the stock dialer
I looked at some alternatives but I like the stock one better.
The only gripe I have with the stock dialer is that I can't get it to work in landscape mode. Any one out there know how to get it to rotate automatically. I can't find any settings for it to make it rotate.
the only dialer that i consider very good is the one from MIUI
everything else doesnt compare in my book
Go Dialer is pretty good. First one I actually find acceptable. All of the "Go Dev" apps are quite good, and updated constantly. Plus they actually tell you what they updated, and on what date.

I was going to come here and update this thread

I can't use the stock dialer cause I changed my LCD density (210) and that breaks the stock dialer. Was trying to get used to go dialer but it doesn't transfer numbers from Google maps, ie if I do a search on maps and click the dial button, go dialer comes up blank. That alone was a dealbreaker for me. I use dialer one, very functional, fast, and looks like stock. I also was not a fan of the weird blue shade of go dialer.

I don't mind the stock dialer, I only mind that the stock contacts app doesn't allow you to filter your contacts at least to phone only on the bell version. the contacts tab does that for you (for obvious reasons) but it makes the contacts app useless to me as it shows everyone I have emailed on gmail as a contact.
I use dialer one. Its very good and similar to sense dialer

i was about to post a thread looking for some dialer and contacts app. i gave up on the stock one, so not intuitive. my last phone was windows mobile, and the way you find contacts using the dialer is so much better than the stock android. so i tried Go Dialer and Dialer One as suggested here to test both. any more options out there is appreciated
Does anyone else have problems with the font size in the mail and messaging apps? No matter what I set the fonts to in the e-mail app they always display as extra large. Well, almost always. Once or twice they did display as small, which is what I have selected, but almost instantly reverted to extra large. Going to settings still shows "small" is selected. Same issue with Messaging. Font size is set to small, but the fonts are still displayed as normal or large. Every now and then they will display as small for a couple of hours and then mysteriously go back to large.
I remember seeing some similar issues with the One X when it was released on AT&T, but I don't see that anyone is talking about it anymore. And I don't see that anyone has really mentioned it with the EvoLTE. Is there some fix that I am missing? Or this just not happening for everyone else? It makes e-mails almost unreadable at times for me. I tried using the stock ICS email app, but don't really care for that since it seems to lack the peak/non-peak sync options and was not displaying the unread message count on the app icon.
Any help would be appreciated. I know custom ROM's are on their way but for now I would like a way to make this work with the stock HTC mail app. Possible?

Can't zoom out. Can zoom in further, however that is pointless as things are already too big. Screen shots attached.
Interesting...
I am thinking about ruu'ing back to stock and seeing if that makes a difference. I have previously tried a factory reset with no luck, but maybe flashing it will help. Probably not, don't know what else to try. I know two other people with this phone that both have the same problem. Odd that no else seems to have this issue.
I just switched my font size in SMS. Will report back if it reverts.

Man I'm having the same issue! I guess few ppl are experiencing this issue. Anyway, I'll post my issues below...
I want to make sure I'm not crazy...
I have 2 questions about email:
1) My font size appears to be too large. I've tried adjusting it to the smallest font, but that's still too large. I can't seem to reduce the page (font size - by pinching like I could on my OG EVO). I can only read most emails in landscape mode. With my OG EVO, I could adjust the page, just like I could adjust a page (size) on the internet. I've only been able to read emails in landscape... Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, were you able to fix it? FYI - I have three email accounts setup (Gmail, Hotmail, & Y mail), and it happens in all of them.
2) I cannot toggle back and forth to the next or previous email while I'm reading an email. I could do this while I was reading an email with my OG EVO, as there were up and down arrows at the bottom of the screen. This seems really dumb. Has anyone figured this out? Am I missing something? I can't swipe anywhere in the email to send me to the next or previous email (just in case you were going to ask). This happens with all of my email accounts.
Just by chance did you make sure the font size under settings/display is also small? There is a global setting there as well.

This is really stupid. You have to hit the menu button and then choose previous/next EACH TIME. Where the hell did the up and down buttons go? WTF HTC? Speaking of issues with the mail app, did they remove the option to automatically display pictures in emails? There was a check box on my OG Evo and it is nowhere to be found in the LTE's mail app.
I'm having this same issue (large font in Mail app). Phone is completely stock. It's REALLY annoying.
Same issue. No matter how many preview lines I choose! It shows 2. Can't reduce to 1. And text is huge, no matter what setting. Slayer, no, haven't tried the global setting, but honestly dont wanna change the global setting, just the email setting. I'm sure a SW update will fix it. I'm not stressed about it.
sent from my Evo LTE, usually.
Yep, same thing I'm experiencing too. Can make the font bigger, but not smaller. This clearly has to be a bug. Hope they fix it soon...

Tried that, but it didn't work. Didn't seem to impact the email font size at all. It made my internet font size smaller, but I didn't need that changed.
Sent from my EVO using XDA
I'm just dumbfounded at all this... No, I didn't see the option (display pictures) in the general settings, only in each email. The lack of back/forth arrows just makes no sense to let at all. Wonder who they consulted about these email changes?!
Sent from my EVO using XDA
I guess no one has figured this out yet... I almost forgot about this, but stumbled upon this today while in the forum. I figure we'll all just have to deal with it until HTC sends out an update?!
I've been having this problem too (I'm completely stock), but mine changes from time to time. I have my font sizes set on the smallest possible and usually that means that they're still kind of big. But occasionally I'll load up the text messaging app and get ridiculously tiny text. "Zooming in" makes it bigger, but not nearly as big as the fonts get normally. And then, the next time I load up the app the font sizes are MASSIVE.
It's almost like my phone has two sets of font sizes, one smaller than the other but both using the same nomenclature ("small", "normal", etc.), and switches between them when it wants to. Mildly annoying, but annoying nonetheless.
Interesting, I've had the same font size issue in the stock Mail app. There is an option in Settings > Sync, Send & Receive to view messages as either HTML or plain text.
I wonder if the difference is the way the email is formatted by the sender, if they use HTML vs plain text, if that is what affects the way this device displays the message contents.
Just a thought.

That's not the case for me. I actually notice it more in the Messaging app than the Mail app.
2 weeks in with the HTC One and love it still... I have always rooted and gone with custom rom (thanks to XDA-Dev!) within hours of getting a new device from AT&T (sticking with them cause I have an old grandfathered-in unlimited data plan) but didnt with the HTC One because I just seemed perfect for how I use my phone.
Now that I'm back in the saddle at work and deep in writing some heavy code I notice one thing that may be the single reason I need to root / mod (unless Im missing something): When I get an SMS I get the audible notification sound I have selected and the small LED light indicator, but unlike my last android device, the screen doesnt wake and show me the lock screen where I have it setup to show the first few lines of new emails and SMS messages... so I have to stop typing each time and manually press the power button each time...
is there a way to enable this or is LED / sound notification basically all the stock AT&T HTC One is capable of?
Anyone else dealt with the same issue and found a workaround?
Don't quote me but I used handcent to get around this same issue. Handcent works really well but I wish they would have allowed this on the original messaging app. There are quite a few dumb decisions that were made on the One

Yes there are many options for screen-on SMS notification. ROMs such as Viper One (via the built in Venom Tweaks) and TrickDroid (via an Aroma option during installation) support screen-on SMS notification with the default messaging app. Several 3rd party SMS apps have this feature as mentioned previously.
Also look into Glowfly in the Play Store. Nice mms wake solution.
metro notifications........is the best!!!!!
Activenotifications is also a great option. Mimics the moto x wake display feature

Hey guys, I am a long time iPhone user and I got a Black HTC one a few weeks ago and for the main part, I am LOVE the change and really love SENSE 5. I have messed around with the Apex Locker and some awesome UI's but would miss blink feed and some other SENSE issues.
I do have a lot of smaller issues I am hoping to figure out (which may not be a big deal to some people). I was told to come on here and poke around and ask questions for some answers.
Email:
I LOVE the stock/native email APP and cannot use GMAIL for business; however many emails do not shrink to fit the window like the GMAIL app or on my iPhone. I am really hoping we can figure this out
Google Voice:
Works amazing with google products and Google now but I am having an issue integrating it with HTC apps or other 3rd party apps.
Home/Back Buttons:
As many now these do not light up until in a really dark room. I use my phone a lot at home with the lights dimmed while watching TV and they still do not come on.
Lock Screen:
The Lock screen requires a swipe up to answer calls, which happens a lot when I pull the phone out of my pocket (even with the stock locker and accessability turned off). I think I would like a different way (sideways) to answer a call and unlock the phone.
Bloatware/Stock apps:
There are a lot of ATT apps I do not want on the phone and do not want to use, but all of the HTC apps I do want for the most part
So.....You pretty much have a problem with every single function of the phone.
Google voice, don't know don't use it.
Email, don't know don't use it
Home back buttons, what do you need them lit up for? You'll learn where they are.
Lock screen, not gonna happen with stock lock screen. Use a different locker or flash a Rom.
Bloatware, unlock bootloader, s-off, recovery and root.
This is also in the wrong section.

Well my lights work so something isn't right with your phone ?
To try to help you fix some of the issues on your HTC ONE you can choose not to have the lock screen go to settings--->Personalize----> lock screen style and choose no lock screen. the back and home buttons light up when the screen is on push the power button on top. I never had that issue with the htc email client my emails fit to the screen but then again I flashed a custom rom on my phone. Not sure if that makes a difference tho.The bloatware you can uninstall go to your app draw and hold down the icon of the app and drag it to the top of the screen you will see uninstall drag it to there and its off your phone. I cam from an Iphone too and I also love the change. I am not sure if you are aware but if you have a google account and you sign in the app store will keep a record of all apps on your phone so if you want it back you can easily re install it. I hope that helps.
Just to clarify re: the bloatware, you cannot uninstall these if you're not rooted. However, you can disable the apps, which will also hide them in the app drawer.

I actually find the native emaill app to be pretty sharp, but unfortunately it's too limited in functionality to do all the things i want for my corporate email. If you are a heavy Exchange user, I would recommend getting Touchdown. It's $20, but well worth it for detailed functionality in Exchange accounts. You will sacrifice much of the aesthic of the native mail app, though I find the function to be a worthwhile trade here.

I haven't had this issue. Do you run your phone in power save mode often? This could potentially have an effect on the lights, though I doubt it. I've never seen issues with mine, so perhaps it's your unit

Just got to your settings > apps > all, and run down the list to disable as many of the att apps as you desire. most of them can be disabled, though none directly removed without root. disabling does the trick. you can also hide them from app drawer as mentioned above. I disable nearly all AT&T apps, among others.
Welcome to the One, it's a fantastic device. I have owned iPhones in year past but can definitely say you've made a great choice to convert. HTC has caught some slack recently with some tough financial times and sales figures, which is unfortunate because this phone is phenomenal. hopefully their big investment in (an odd Bob Downey, Jr) marketing campaign will help.
