internal alarm noise?? - HTC Droid DNA

Woke up in the middle of the night to a ringing noise on my phone, it wasn't coming out of the rear speaker? First thing I did was to check my alarms, sure enough they were turned off. I turned off the phone and it went away 3 min later the noise came back!! While being off. I could only think of being an alarm for a hot battery?

Was the phone really hot? Was it plugged in or running a cpu intensive app?

It was kind of hot Lol it was under my pillow not plugged in. Anybody has had a similar situation? By the way this is my first HTC device

Your not suppose to put you smartphone underneath your pillow while it's powered. I don't know about the noise but just don't place it under your pillow. You can placebos in your pocket though.

I put placebos in my pocket all the time.

doesn't seem normal for a a phone to have one

Didn't intend to put it under the pillow I just set it aside in bed, but it ended covered somehow. Temps got up 116 degrees F. Its some type of security alarm I guess, because it sounded while the phone was off too.

That's crazy talk! .. thats interesting.. question is why did it get that hot?

Hey I'm not alone!! It felt spooky that the ringing sound didn't go away even by turning off the phone.

This same thing happened to me today. I work in a large concrete building with VERY little reception. All of a sudden I head the chirping ringing that you're describing. I guess my DNA was getting hot while it was reaching out for signal all day.
I remember my Bionic getting pretty toasty at the office too, but I guess it didn't have an alert for overheating. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is temperature related because after putting it in airplane mode and going outside on my break (where it's 45 degrees), it stopped right away. :good:
Now I just need to find out how to disable it, because I work on the phone almost all day, I can't have it chirping up a storm in the background.

When Playing Order&Chaos with WiFi trick,Do your phone get ridiculously hot

So when im playing O&C on 3G this phone get so hot that I can feel the heat even with the otter box case on,the heat is around the top part of the phone, and the temperature reading is 115'-120'F is that because wifi is constantly scanning?..or is it because of the game constantly drain data?

I have this exact same problem I think the reason is because both WiFi and 3g is on running at the same time I think thats why it gets hot
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Hopefully thats all it is cause I was goin to return it.& the 3D ac charger push a lot of power into the phone really fast(sorry I don't know the technical terms) and get over 115'F really quick
...I'm now using the iPhone charger,it charge very slow for this phone but it keeps the temperature under 110'F while playing Order&Chaos

I'm having the same issue with my 3vo. I'm hoping this amount of heat will not cause any long term damage to our phones over time.

Ive had this problem when playing games with airplane mode on so I am assuming the processor is the culprit. Just played zombieland usa and my 3vo got up to 110.
Those kinds of temperatures aren't going to hurt anything, i think the auto safety is at 50c or 122f. One of the problems with high temperatures is weakening solder joints. I would say 140+ is the point where things might start getting a little too hot. But the phone will shut down before it gets that hot.

I had the same problem while playing. And also I noticed my phone would get extremely hot while plugged in as well. I checked out a few threads here and figured it wouldnt be a problem. This morning I woke up to a dead evo. My guess is that extended periods at that temp will cause damage. It may have just been my evo as my friend's does not get hot.
I've played on 3g/WiFi for hours on end and my phone has never gotten very hot. Maybe a tad bit,but nothing like what you guys are describing. Idk.

That would be killing ur battery. Personally I'd swap. Coming from rezound alloy had that issue. I don't know bout gs3 but , that seems awfully hot.

how did you manage that? when my phone hits 100 it feels like its burning my hands
That's 54 degrees Celsius! I'm surprised your battery hasn't melted and your phone's components haven't been damaged yet.
I'm pretty sure after 40-something celsius it starts to become unsafe for the device.
I'm sure phone CPUs have failsafe measures to prevent from melting in your hand. That said, I've never hit over 105F, and that was hot. You probably have a defective device. What were you doing at the time, besides charging? Charging does increase the temperature quite a bit sometimes, but not that much.
I agree mines never got over 107 , but it dose at times get hotter than it feels.

Mine got up close to that just today, I was streaming pandora over bluetooth in the heat with a case on. And browsing. Not really worried about, they should be able to survive temperatures far higher than that.
Mine gets to around 110°F when using the video camera after 15 mins. It went as high as 116°F the other day

I don't know if internal memory has the same issue but when I'm writing lots of data to my sdcard the card itself can get incredibly hot.

Its probably damaged already, if you want a safe # it would be 140° F but that's dangerously close.

Lately my phone has started to get warm too. Just browsing and even screen off in my pocket at around 95f... Not sure what caused it.
Thinking of doing a factory wipe and flashing rom again.

+1 will wait and see more replies to see if anybody has a one that is staying cool under daily use. Mine is definitely warm to the touch might make my hands sweat with prolonged use. It does cool down fast with the screen off.

[Q] I think mine is too hot. What is your HOX+ battery temperature?

I am a new user of HOX+ and I dont know if the temperature is normal or not. I'm using Elegancia ROM and use it only to play Candy Crush or Governor of Poker. My mobile data is rarely on and I often set the brightness level to the lowest. The battery temperature widget says it is running around 43-45 celcius degree, sometimes a little bit more. For me, that number makes the upper back part of the handset (around the camera) too hot and uncomfortable for my palm. Is the temperature normal?
What ROM do you use and how is temperature going?
Afaik its been a common problem. I run Viper XL and my battery goes up to 50C

Well it must be annoying. Ive read some articles about it and the problem comes from the characteristics of Tegra 3 overheating. I think that answer my question about it being too hot. I hope the the hardcase doesnt prevent the heat to go out
I been using for almost a year, it overheated before. In August I gave it to the services Center, when it came back. It doesn't over heat as much as it did. Max temperature so far on my phone is 50c,before 55.

Dang...mine is around 45
Do you measure that temperature when you are playing games or doing whatsoever or right after you turn the device on? Any means or tool you use to preserve the battery temperature?
When i am just texting or browsing it is quite cool, But the heat goes way over the top when I then use it for games after that. I can feel the difference too much.
Is it related to the working cores or something?
I measure whenever I want to. No there's no such application to do that unless you underclock, but lose performance. Take it to the service Center, tell them to fix it, tell it overheats. Mine was first only formatted, then I lied to them about having other issues, so they send it to the company, and they replaced everything inside, when it came back, no more issues. I'm guessing an updated version of the Tegra 3 is released, which fixes overheating issues, so maybe they kept the new one in mine lol

[Q]I think my DNA is dead...

I had my phone today and everything seemed to be running fine but I happened to let it die completely while in my pocket. I went to plug it in and no LED, no charging, no nothing. When I put it on my wireless charger, the charger's green light says it is charging but my phone doesn't seem to respond to anything. I tried holding down Power+volume up+volume down and still nothing. Before it happened i was running official CM10.2 and the crpalmer kernel and everything seemed great. What do ya'll think?
Definitely sounds like you're going to need a replacement. I'm hoping you have a warranty?

Nope. I've had the phone for more than a year. looks like ill be using my old thunderbolt until i get my upgrade.
Ouch. At least you have a backup. I'm assuming that you don't have the insurance? I've never had to use it, but as expensive as these things are and the fact that I have 3 children makes me paranoid.

Nope, no insurance. I'm regretting that now though.
my friends dna did the same thing. he let the battery run out one time overnight and it would never charge or turn on again.

I just let it sit overnight on my desk and tried plugging it in again this morning. LED began flashing and once it turned solid I booted it up and everything seems normal. That was weird. I will try and prevent the battery from draining the entire way again.
You can still add insurance. Call and they will add it. I had no ins for 5 months and decided to add it.

Battery pull
When that happens, the battery usually has to be pulled for it to turn back on. The problem is, the DNA doesn't have a removable, or even easily accessible battery. This same problem happened to me a while back, and the remedy was to pry off the back cover, unscrew the metal plate holding the battery connector to the board, and unplug the connector for about 10 or 15 seconds before reconnecting it. After that, charging LED came on like normal and the phone booted up just fine. It's only happened twice in the last 3 months, and it works every time.
Lesson learned - don't let the battery die!

This it not true. Or atleast where I live it isn't.
It's official. My old DNA is dead. I had it plugged in the following day after it started working again. When I woke up, it was turned off and refused to turn back on. I am not sure what happened. I am guessing the battery shorted out or something like that but who knows? I've since moved on to the HTC One and I'm digging the upgrade
