When my stock browser loads the home page for google it can never give me my current location. I have checked the browser setting and location is enabled, gps is enabled. Maps works and finds me fairly quickly, not sure if its the phone or me. Help greatly appreciated.

I was having the same issue where google.com, maps.google.com, etc. were showing my location as unavailable. This worked for me to fix it:
1. Go into settings>location services and check all three boxes.
2. Go into browser settings>privacy and security and check enable location and clear location access.
3. Go into browser settings>advanced>website settings and clear all.
4. Go into settings>application manager>all, find network location, clear cache, clear data, force stop.
5. Restart phone.
6. Once back in your home screen it should prompt you to collect location and allow it.
7. Go to google.com, maps.google.com, etc. and allow each site to collect your location.
I'm guessing automatic restore fudged it up. If you have other funky issues you could always do a factory reset and disable automatic restore before signing in to Google.
Seems to have worked thank you.

I was having some fun with this application called Fake GPS, and now because I'm inside and it can't get a lock right away its stuck on my last fake location. I have to start the program and manually set my location to where I actually am. When the application is not running, all my other applications seem to think I'm somewhere I'm not. Is there a fix for this ? I've tried uninstalling the program and it didn't help at all.
Try going to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Untick 'Allow mock locations'
The following part might be overkill, not sure.
Turn off the GPS (Settings -> Location -> Untick 'Use GPS satellites') -> Reboot -> turn back on the GPS.
Well that seemed to work. I did all the that and then went outside to get a real GPS lock, then turned off the option to use wireless networks. It seems google maps is stuck on thinking I'm somewhere I'm not, and this was messing with my gps. I did a test post on facebook on the tablet, and it gave my last known real gps location. The tablets GPS is pretty weak, I went to the empty room upstairs on the 2nd floor and had my Nexus One and Tablet side by side. The Nexus one picked up a GPS fix in under 5 seconds. I even disabled the option to use wireless networks, but I guess it's still using the cell towers to help it get a fix.
Glad that helped! You might try clearing your Google Maps cache to see if that might fix more issues.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Maps -> Clear Cache
Also, remember that GPS' tend not to work too well in-doors. So I wouldn't call the GPS issue too abnormal.

The tablet could see about 3-4 satellite and it was right up against the window, but it couldn't get a lock on them till came around to the front and had a larger open area. I cleared the cache and data on google maps, but it still thinks I'm somewhere I'm not. Not a big problem really, it will correct itself when I get a lock.
I have an Evo 3D.
This is driving me nuts, I seem to be unable to download app updates anymore. It attempts to download forever, the progress staying at zero, and eventually gives me error 495.
I tried Googling this, and attempted every solution I could find. I tried signing in and out of my google account, clearing the cache of ALL my apps, rebooting my phone, turning off my WiFi, and clearing more space. Nothing worked.
It appears there's something wrong with the Google Play service, I can't download any apps when connected to Wifi, and there are others having the same issue.
I have had this issue for a long time now. I just used to decide that I'll wait till i get home and download over WiFi (which worked).
But that's not a solution!!!
On my JellyBean One X:
1. Go to Settings
2. In Wireless and Networks, tap on More
3. Select Usage
4. Tap on Menu in top-right corner and make sure Restrict background data is not ticked
5. Also, uncheck Limit mobile data usage (a message appears saying that all background data restrictions will be disabled).
It is the background data restriction that causes this issue (atleast for me).
I had done the whole shabang:
Clear google play cache, data, etc. re-login with Google account, reboot, etc.
Hi Everyone,
I can't see to get any of the location services to work.
All three services are on but none of the apps that uses location seems to get a hold of the location.
For example, in google maps it says "Your current location is temporarily unavailable".
None of my android phones has had this problem.
Thanks.
Download an app called gps status and toolbox. Let that app run. You can use it to reset a-gps info, then download sat info (in the manage a-gps menu).
Let the app run until it gets a good lock. You may need to tap the screen to keep it from timing out while it is getting a lock.

Mine was the same when I got it. Factory reset and all is well now.

I tried using GPS tools with no success.
Also I would hate to factory reset.
Any other suggestions?
I am having the same problem

So using the GPS status and tools app, I can get a lock when I am outside.
However, when I am indoor else where I am not locatable, which seems to indicate that GPS does work but Google location service and/or VZW one don't work.
I am going to give it a factory reset.
Mine didn't work at first either. I turned all 3 services off rebooted then turned all 3 back on and rebooted again. Its been working fine since then.

This worked wonderfully.
Thanks.
I've seen the same issue on and off, just to add further to str8upx's answer, a reboot is all it took to fix for me (wasn't necessary to turn services off first).
Just wanted to update, while a reboot does "fix" the issue, it's not a solution. The issue does come back.
Turn off Verizon services and leave on google services, reboot the phone and try it.
I've banged on this all morning. So far, this has worked for me.
Settings > Location > enable all 3.
then
Settings > Apps and Sync > Google > Location > make sure both are checked.
then
Settings > Apps and Sync > Google > Maps & Latitude > Location Reporting > Detect your location. (I am not a Latitude user and have all the other location sharing stuff turned off.)
Finally
Open Browser > Menu > Settings > Privacy & security > Enable location > check Enable Location
AND THEN REBOOT.
So far so good. Maps hasn't been unable to locate me again and the browser can get my location.
I had the same issue when I first got my Droid DNA. Location services would not work for me whatsoever (weather, maps, etc.) As soon as I got home and connected to WiFi, location services started working. My wife, who got her Droid DNA at the exact same time as I did, never had this problem.
Once I connected to WiFi and location services started working, I haven't had any problems.
Not sure what the logic behind it is, but try connecting to WiFi if you haven't already.
I have a "35 min to Home" card that pops up on Google Now and my watch around when I leave work for home. On my phone looking at Google Now everything looks fine, but when I swipe left on the notification to see the mini map of the route it shows the wrong location. I don't see any of the route home on the mini map. It seems to have picked an area about half a state away instead of my current location, or the suggested route.
I have tried to fix this problem by:
1. Uninstalling Google Maps, clearing data, re-installing
2. re-syncing apps to watch
3. resetting watch to factory settings
Anyone else have this issue or know of any methods to correct it ?
Thanks.
Could not add google account > did factory reset > can not get through initial setup
Hi guys,
All was well except when I tried to add a google account this happened
screen 1
Just a sec...
screen 2
Add your account
google
sing in to get the most out of your device. i
Enter your email [I enter my email and have tried others for testing]
screen 3
Error sorry there seems to be a problem. Please try again.
For troubleshooting I tried
Disabled 2FA on google account
Removed account from other device
rest app settings
sign in via multiple apps, contacts, playstore, youtube, add accounts et cetera
Enabled Backup my data and automatic restore
Connected via VPN
Update system software
Nothing worked so I did a factory reset. Now the part of the initial setup that is supposed to add a google account gets stuck on
"Couldn't sign in
Can’t establish a reliable connection to the server"
But I really mean stuck, there are no buttons on the screen, no possibility to slide down the task bar or go to home screen because this is happening as part of the initial setup steps. Volume and power buttons work so I can turn it off and turn it on again after which it enters the initial setup and the same thing happenes again as there is no option to skip this step or skip set up as a whole.
There are quite a few google results for
"Couldn't sign in
Can’t establish a reliable connection to the server"
But they all involve interacting with options and settings which I can not do. How can I boot the phone without it launching the initial setup process?
Phone is E2363, the 16G dual sim version. Thanks if you can help
Did you restore via PC Companion?

Good idea! That allowed me to get past the initial set up and into the system. Now every time I try to add my google account I get
"Couldn't sign in
Can’t establish a reliable connection to the server"
So far I have
Tride through different apps
Confirmed the clock is correct
Disabled 2FA on google account
Enabled Backup my data and automatic restore
Reset app preferences
Any other suggestions? The other option google finds is to root the phone and modify the host file as per http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kRmW2hO-4tk
I would rather not but if that is the only fix the question is how to root this device?
I would create another gmail account. And check internet connection (wi-fi or 4G).

Try tapping all four corners of your screen, in a clockwise motion (start top left and move to the right) make sure you hit the corner of your screen. it should skip setup, then go to app in settings and clear the data of all your google apps (playstore and google services ect) should work afterwards.

I am past set up and into the system (is it possible to edit thread title?) (the way to skip the add google account in setup was to not have any internet connection) but in the system the problem happens when trying to add a google account.
I have deleted all app data or cleared cache (whichever was available) for all apps starting with the word google including those you mentioned. No change to the problem every time I try to add my google account I get
screen 1
Checking info...
screen2
Couldn't sign in
Can’t establish a reliable connection to the server
This was fixed when I tried with a different internet connection/ISP. Its not that I was not online before but that my ISP has dumb protocols that were stopping this from working. Thanks for your responses.
Hello Bitedge,
And now google play store and other google services do connect via your own internet connection too?
I'm facing the same problem you described, just out of the box my xperia m4 aqua will connect to google on every connection except my home wifi.
