[Q] Galaxy s2 turns off randomly and vibrates - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, im new here ..im super frustrated. I'm pretty good at technlogy, but cannot figure what's wrong with my s2.
It randomly turns off and vibrates..like a pulse.
I need some good advice and what to do.
Ive done some research and most are saying its the power button??
Everything works on my phone, it just randomly does this. Is it worth getting it fixed? If so, how much would I spend??
HELP HELP HELP!!!

if ur phone is running on Stock Samsung Firmware then backup with 'KIES' and then do a factory re-set and see
Ps- in future while posting an issue do please remember to provide the necessary info on ur present ROM/KERNEL, that way it would be obvious to get better solution to ur problem

Hi my friend. I am assuming that you mean the touch issue where to menu keeps randomly flashing up and making the phone pretty much unusable?! if so,i had the same thing happen to my st15i.
the best thing to do is if you are still under warranty, take the phone back and they will sort it for you. What they will do is factory reset AND re- calibrate the touch screen.
Its to do with the device heating up, a well known problem. If you cant take it back to be fixed then let me know and i will point you in the direction of a guide to re- calibrate the touch screen yourself. I havent tried this myself as i had took mine in for repair, but it looks reasonably straight forward. No promises that it will work if you try do it yourself though
hope this helps

[Q] wifi on rooted phone crashing lock screen.

hey guys this is my first thread seen as i cannot find any answers. in a nutshell, i have an s3 that is rooted purely to unlock it. im not too fussed as yet to get the fancy capabilitys in full throttle on a rooted device until i solve one problem.. just hear me out. if you need specifics on my phones firmware ect ask away and ill do my best. but all i can say is this..
i have had a galaxy s3 for a week now. the first thing i did was root it as it was locked. as far as i know i did it right, since it did unlock it and add the supersu icon and CWM icon. as for now i dont want to start messing with stuff like that until i know what im doing. and honestly i only just managed to root the thing after failing the first time. so my real problem so far is something i have heard of with no solution. the wifi and lock screen crash. ive sussed out that for every time i leave the house and go to work (that doesnt have wifi) and my wifi is left switched on, my lockscreen just will not let me in my phone with out me taking the battery out and turning the wifi off manually.
i need help. big help. i need to know waht im doing and doing wrong. i need a fix. a custom firmware a custom rom. what ever it is. i would be so greatful not to have this bug. and ill be honest. it took me 2 days to work it out. i work 9 hours a day and taking my battery 10 times and hour.. yeah.. please help me guys id be so appreciative of it.
thanks. danny.
As a last resort you could try a factory reset. You will lose all your data though and have to set things up from scratch.
Before going to that extreme you could enter recovery, then clear cache, then go to advanced settings and clear dalvik cache plus fix permissions. These are cure all solutions but they may help.

I had this problem and it is down to the method you use time root.
If you use the toolkit method it will cause this problem
but if you use CF-root to unlock your s3 you will have no problems at all.
You can find CF-root with a simple search hope this helps

Thanks guys I'll give these a go when I'm able to after work. I have infact done a factory reset that didn't undo the root. I'll post back on either success (hopefully) or if my problem persists. I really appreciate your advice.
Thanks in advance. Danny.
Good luck.
As your problem appears to be caused by leaving WiFi on you might try this app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801284
I've been using it since early beta release. It can switch WiFi off when your screen is off. Obviously it will not cure your problem but it might be a work around.

hey guys. i gave them both a try. i cleared my caches. i even fully unrooted my phone. did a reset. and installed the root the CF-root package.
but still. im having the same problem. i really am new to this. and i just dont know what to do. all i need the root for is to keep my phone unlocked. i dont care for any fancy thing you can do once rooted. i think im just going to wait till a new software comes out that can be rooted.
hopefully it will have fixed the bug or something. really appreciate the advice you guys have given me. thank you a lot.
i guess until then ill have to remember to turn my wifi off before i go out :/
thanks. danny.
Unroot by flashing your original or a stock rom and test is the only way forward .

Putting generic/non-descriptive titles, especially silly ones like "Urgent help" do not make people help any more quickly and in fact will slow down help because many people simply ignore topics that are not titled correctly.
Also, This topic has been discussed MANY, MANY, MANY times over so you have no need to create a duplicate topic and then sit there and wait for answers when you can help yourself by looking and reading.
If your phone has simply died and wont turn on then its dead and you will need to replace/repair hardware. In the very least try a new battery.
Have you tried download or recovery mode or a USB jig??
Also it would help if you were honest because diagnosis/fix may be more relevant, have you tried flashing something to your device?
And everyone here should stop whatever else they're doing to 'urgently help' you why exactly ?
I don't see why this is urgent at all.

[Q] Strange transparent pop up

So I have looked on Google for a solution but I don't exactly know what my problem is called, which makes finding an answer difficult.
We have several note 2's at the place where I work. One of our employees recently (last week or so?) updated to Android 4.3 Stock (he has always been stock). Now he is getting a very strange popup on his screen, the screen will not lock and almost every time you hit the power button, it shuts the phone off. I have attached a photo of the popup
Any suggestions? This is a new one on me!
Thanks in advance!!

Thank you sir that does!!! I appreciate your help!
Did it work?
Warranty
I did not actually try it. Know that I know what the problem is (and because his phone is not already rooted) we decided that the best course of action is to just get a warranty replacement for it.
I have never seen this issue before and after reading through that link you gave me, I am assuming the verizon update corrupted the phone.
But I am thankful for your help! I would have spent a lot more time trying to figure out what was going on with the phone without your help!
Haha... I just assumed it was rooted. Glad I could help ya a bit. Be well.

[Q] Check for update button not working.

Hi all, i need a little help. I've just unrooted my galaxy s3, using stock rom 4.3. Everything has gone as it should and is now unrooted stock rom. But have noticed something unusual, in settings when i go to about device/software update/ and then press check for updates, nothing happens, it doesn't check for anything. I really don't know what the problem is, and i need to get it sorted as i'm a bit desperate for money and need to sell the phone quickly, but unfortunately nobodys going to be interested if it won't even check for updates.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
