I got XPERIA NEO L and I have seen threads and guide over here on how to root XPERIA NEO L. But they were not for the latest update. I got 626 update for my phone and I updated it to it.
Since, this is my first Sony Phone, I am not that much familiar with Flashing Kernels using Flashtool. I wanted to ask is there any way I can brick my phone during this ? Because I bricked my Galaxy Mini previously 3 times.
Things I know to Root NEO L, correct me if I am wrong.
1. Check Unknown Sources, USB Debugging and enable MSC Connection Mode in Xperia > Connectivity.
2. Download the NEO V kernel and put it in firmwares folder of Flashtool and power off phone and flash it.
3. Now your phone will not switch on but will show LED(not sure), then run the Doomlord runme.bat file.
4. Now flash NEO L latest kernel again.
I am not sure, but since I am on latest update, I think I need to flash some other kernel in the 2nd step. It would be great if you guys could help me, and I suffered a lot to get this phone, so hope you know how much it does to brick your phone.

basically the same steps except in the end u need to flash back .626 kernel..and we'll be using the same NeoV kernel as before..

I own a xperia neo l i hav rooted it the root checker says its rooted but when i go to flash a custom kernel itbsays device must be rooted! Can i apply jellyice cream by philip wu directly via cwm without the kernel!?help

Relock and flash back stock 2.3.4 and you will be updated when 4.0 coming.

Unlocked bootloader? Why relocking? I will use Wotan server as soon as ICS is out.
Relock is required to instal OTA, or seus or pc companion.

In the 2nd post
Installation:1. wipe dalvik cache in advanced
2. format /system
/data
/cache in mounts and storage
3. flash the zip
3+1. Flash the Neovpatch.zip if you have got Neo V
4. REBOOT THE PHONE, AND LET IT START ITSELF (IF U DONT DO THIS IT WILL CAUSE INFINITE BOOTLOOP
5. Install CWM with the CWM auto-installer included in the download list
6. Now reboot to cwm and flash lockscreen.zip
7. Enjoy!

Yay gr8 ROM which has nothing new.
Stock rom screen shot will always be the same.. You haven't even used the rom and commenting negative.. He's at least giving a try for us.. Let's see what he has up his sleeve..

When I updated my 6.0.B.3.162 to 6.0.B.3.184, it said

if you're rooted im assuming you have unlocked your bootloader you need to relock it again. for you to be able to use the pc companion or seus.

I always use flash tool for upgrading. But I saw Sony Support said Upgrade with PC Companion on talk-sony...

If you are using wt19i then instal Xperia mini x10 driver
You have to do nothing extra just flash custom kernal.
means connect your phone with holding volume up key aka fastboot mode and in Flashtool you will see device connection log click on flash icon on top left and select fastboot mode then select kernel to flash then browse your kernel it is boot.img file click on that and Flashtool will instal kernel automatically. Disconnect and Restart the phone and when blue led glows click volume down you will see cwm recovery. Means your phone rooted. When you open the phone you will find superuser installed

I think no need to unlock bootloader if u want to root .587 because i had done it previously. But afaik, if u want to flash custom kernels, yes u need to unlock your bootloader and it will void your warranty -or at least until u relock it-
in a simple way;
1. u need to install flashtool to flash rootable kernel which is,
2. download rootable kernel 4.1.A.0.562 for xperia Arc (it's ok, u will find ur device in black screen after u flash it but u can root it)
3. root ur device while u are in 4.1.A.0.562 (even when ur device on black screen)
4. flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel after that, then u will hav ICS .587 rooted..
btw, i'm using smultron, but i think we're 2011 xperian family, right? it should be the same procedures to do..

please follow XDA's rule no. 1 - ALWAYS SEARCH BEFORE U POST....
nyways u can find many guides in ur device's forum or there's a easy guide on talk.sonymobile.com for xperia 2011.
