[Q] well guys i really need some help here.. - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using an old flip phone for about 1 and a half years and im really getting tired of is and pay attention please the story gets on topic. I really think all of you here know what it is like to not have a smart phone at one pont or another. i need the unlock code for my Atrix to get my phone unlocked (NOT BEGGING FOR MONEY PLEASE KEEP READING) I heard the unlock code was a phone call away like seriously that easy. The only problem is i am socially awkward and completely dread tech support lines im extremely shy and nervous on the phone. All i am asking is if i could possibly give one of you my imei or whatever code and you can call the line for me and send me my code. listen i know it sounds like im lazy but i really do have issues talking on the phone with people and im sure one of you out there is actually nice enough to try this for me. please at the least consider it and get back to me. it costs nothing and i really would appreciate it .
-Josh.

Suspicious....
is it because you don't speak the language your are supposed to speak fluently to make the call? If that is the case i am not your man unfortunately. I am not that good at speaking english (If it is english) myself.
I know this is not what you are asking for, but you can get an unlock code for your phone on many websites without human interaction. I am not allowed to post links since i am a new user so, Cellunlocker dot net is a good website for unlocking phones. You know how to write that up there if you choose to go that route. And good luck.

Totally agree with you over sphings's comments. But I don't see how the post I pointed to is offensive.
I know you did really help people out (for a fee!) for one device, when I don't believe there was any other way to unlock it.

Paid Sim Unlock?

Hey Im sure it may have been brought up before but I didnt find much in the search area.
I dont want a fight or two I just figured XDA Dev was all about modding/flashing/unlocking PDA/Smartphones? Why is there no free unlocking kit? Also all the paid versions go directly to the XDA forum web site and not into anyone elses pocket?
Dont misunderstand im not here to ***** about whats going on but I thought thats what this site was about - Developing -. If the site really needs help with donations and thats the whole point of this then thats fine. I just remember back in the HTC Wizard days it was all for fun.
Anyhow I'm about to e-Gay a fuze right now im pretty excited and as always keep up the good work XDA

wrong subforum, and this HAS been gone over 100s of times, so why did you even bother posting this useless thread?
have you tried here?
Yeah I visited that website but it doesn't mention that its going towards the forums. Is it going 100% towards the developer? I know it says Donation I was just wondering. If the developer wants money for the software thats fine if people want the phone unlocked they will pay it.
I was just asking this because Its always been a free community from what I remember.
best regards,
eddy
*shrug* They have good rules, I like em.
1) If you give back to the community, they give you it for free -- so if you're a 'developer' or just plain help, they help you
2) SIM locked or locked, most apps don't care what SIM card is in there
From what I saw from the thread, they just want to charge 'free loading' users for their work, while still allowing community members/participants free services.
Props to them, IMO, They gave me a free unlock and I still donated.
am not really sure if you get the idea or the concept of developing an idea. but im pretty sure youd agree that any developer can do whatever they wish with what they develop irregardless of whatever community you can enumerate. unfortunately, the developer as he says:
"you want a free SIM Unlock right? well tough ****, there's no such thing as a free lunch... if you want to get something, you need to give something."
the developer has developed a sim unlocker for free for the the hermes (of which i have used) and probably its about time he gets compensated for what he deserves.
Tough **** indeed.

Anyone fool enough to talk to potential customers in that manner deserves NOTHING. If he's that much of a jerk in general, what's going to happen when you need customer service? Is someone that speaks to the public in that manner someone you wish to trust?
There are cheaper solutions on ebay and they won't treat you like garbage.
This has been discussed several times.
BTW. Olipro has unlocked a whole lot of devices, most of them for free, he developed custom SPLs which allow us to flash any ROM to almost any device.
The so called Hard-SPLs always have been provided for free.
Which is amazing, this will allow us to truly customize our devices, be grateful for that, there are only few who can accomplish this patching of the bootloaders, and make flashing relatively safe!
Mostly the n00bs and the non-contributers have been *****ing @ him, mainly because lately the SIM unlock isn't free for them.
And this is something I don't understand: if you buy a locked phone it is heavily subsidized, you pay less for the device BECAUSE it is locked.
The small donation that is asked for the non contributing part of the community is peanuts in regards to the actual cost of a non-cloked device.
So even if you have to pay for the unlock: your device is still way cheaper than if you bought the unlocked device to start with.
Olipro's unlock method works even if the carrier relocked the device, you can't say that from the code sellers (they have only the HTC codes, not the carrier codes if they changed it).
And it also gives you the opportunity to secure-unlock the device and change the CID.
Nobody else is offering this.

Bootloader Unlocking Effort

Hey all,
I've been a lurker for a while, been looking for a way to encourage the now Google-owned Motorola Mobility to unlock their bootloaders much like HTC has wisely done, but it's becoming more and more obvious to me that they don't care about the "minority" of us that actually feels as though we are entitled to full admin rights on our phones that we either paid a ton of cash for, or signed a lengthy contract to obtain. Verizon is the one blocking it? HTC found a way, and so can Motorola Mobility...that is cop-out.
My proposal is that there be an effort to unlocked the bootloader, I am not some expert programmer, and I am open to whatever will help the cause. I know there was a bounty on it, but to me this isn't about money, I'll donate time, money, information ripped from my phone if it, in some way, contributes to unlocked that bootloader. Even if you need my unused CPU cycles to calculate things, I don't care, just tell me what I can to do help, because I am sick of not being able to use my phone to it's fully potential.
Maybe I am being naive, but I believe if we all worked together we could accomplish this goal. If you agree, please, let's organize and figure this out!

I love optimism
I'm down with the movement...
This phone does have mad potential to be so limited compared to other phones.
I just can't believe that we are running an unofficial, incomplete version of CM7 and it runs smoother than stock Blur.
Is that telling you something about Motorola?
Do you guys think Google will make that decision for Motorola or will Moto stay the same?

Worth a try...
Re: Google changing Moto policy
I don't know so much about Google changing Motorola's stance on the locked bootloader, we've tried petitioning the company themselves, but have we tried petitioning Google? Or maybe it's too soon, maybe they are working on it right now? Hard to tell, and I don't want to put pressure on Google too soon especially if they are trying diligently right now to do the right thing.
But the above poster is right, cracking it ourselves is definitely worth a try. I have contacts (unfortunately know inside Motorola), I know people with lots of knowledge on encryption, I'll be honest one of my friends does have a knack for the impossible, but this would be too much for one lone person. I also have a few computers in the house, to donate computing power. None above 5 GB of RAM unfortunately, but my friend with all of that know-how does also have a synchronous 20/mbit up/down connection to the net, if that helps, and I have another friend that is the linux admin at a an unnamed private university in Durham that might could lend a hand in some way.
We have the resources, we just need to pool them.
Someone with the realistic technical know-how, just tell us where to begin, and the shortest path to getting to our goal and we'll do all we can to contribute!
Thanks for understanding and not just writing this off as a pipe-dream...because I know if we work together we can accomplish almost anything.

SHA-1 brute force can be cracked for around $2 of Amazon cloud computing service.
http://www.geek.com/articles/news/r...for-2-10-with-amazons-cloud-service-20101122/
Isn't boot loader use SHA-1 encryption?
(of course, the key may be much longer, but it may not be impossible for cheap. I say try to pool together like $100 and try Amazon cloud computing a try?)
Re: Amazon
hpark21:
I like the way you're thinking, does anyone else think this might be a good call? I know there was a bounty of around ~$800 somewhere, so I doubt if all of us who rightfully were promised and unlocked bootloader wouldn't mind pooling a bit of money for the computing power, hell I myself would give $50 to the effort if we knew it was a viable solution.
Other thoughts?
Also, ztotherad, if you could send me those PMs maybe we can sift through those and see if there are some other avenues, nothing is off the table at this point.
thanks again for coming together on this, that is the true meaning of community.

In one of the many threads concerning bootloader unlocks, I believe the chances of us finding it were determined to be 1mill:1. It would take us over a decade to manually come up with the key. I don't want to kill confidence, but I'd like to keep things relatively rational.

it's been established that brute forcing is nearly impossible, not completely impossible
it is something that would take an insane amount of resources to accomplish , and/or time ,
it would really come down to "how lucky are we?" really, as in::: how lucky are we that we stumble across or know a genius that can crack it, stumble across needed files, etc...
good luck to all who try, I wish I could do anything to get us there, but I don't know the first thing when it comes to this stuff, don't give up the dream!
Basically, what it comes down to is:
Find out what their hash key is. (encrypted password)
Then, try to go through all valid characters and see whether the input matches the output hash.
If one is lucky and they used short enough password, then it will be quick to find.
If unlucky and they used really long password, then the answer is that we won't be able to find it in REASONABLE time. (I would say 1-2 months to be reasonable - at $2/hr, it would cost $48/ day).
Only issue is when do we stop?

There was some kind of crazy algorithm applied to each character to generate the correct item for each number of the key, correct? We would have to come up with that too?

THANK YOU! Finally ... a revived movement. I pledged $100 on another thread and I'm good for putting it toward an unlocked bootloader again!
To learn from one of the most influential groups of our generation ... anonymous utilizes botnets to pool computing resources ... if we get a tool that could function similarly, could we not pool 1000s of computers together to crack it faster? It would make what is not feasible for a small set of computers to do... feasible. If all most users have to do is download a tool that gives us access to processing power and bandwidth ... users will download the hell out of it.
Count me in.

I understand doubters, and odds are likely against us, but that's ok, no one person can do it, and maybe not just one method, but somehow we WILL get to our goal. Whether Motorola capitulates or we find a method to crack it, we will not have this awesome hardware go to waste.
I am not generally a "black hat" kind of person, but in this case we are in the right so far as I am concerned (please don't quote DMCA BS to me, lol) because they made a promise to their customers, and it will be kept, whether they like it or not.
So, I am with the above poster that mention he didn't know quite where to start, or where we have already made progress, but if someone can help us out, explain the process, we figure out how to move forward. (Please forgive the run-on sentence).
I've minimal experience programming, only VB.net, C++, and a bit of Java from college, and I do tier 2 desktop support for a bank these days, but on my off time I'd love to spend it on something worthwhile, all of you deserve this, and we'll make it happen.
Maybe it's the troubleshooter in me that sees the problem and says "oh no, there's a way, we just need to find it". I have a colleague, the one I spoke of before, he has a knack for doing incredible things, so once we have a breakdown of what we need to do, perhaps he can be of help.
So my friends, where do we go from here?

HTC Evo Design 4G unlock help

Hello xda-developers,
I've scoured the internet for the answers to this question, the HTC Evo Design has been out for a while now, yet it seems like it has never gotten enough attention to warrant clear instructions if any at all to unlocking the sim. I have a friend who likes to buy old phones and do god knows what with them, this time he decided to get a HTC Evo Design and he has asked for my help.
I'm not new to unlocking phones and sims but this one has me really stumped. It seems like the sim slot for the Design has no real purpose unless you decide to use it outside of the US, my friend though wants it to work with a US T-Mobile sim card. Now even though I've unlocked a good amount of my friends phones, I'm not exactly a seasoned veteran, and I don't really do much research on this sort of stuff unless my friend needs my help so I'm not sure if this just doesn't have the ability to be unlocked at all, or if there was just a lack of interest in this phone and that is why there is almost no information on trying to unlock it.
What I would like an answer to is if there is any programs that have been developed since the last 5 years this phone has been out that might unlock the sim, or at least instructions to doing it myself. Most likely there isn't and I would really love for someone with more knowledge on this to read this post and go, "I can make a program to do this in a couple days" or something, but really any information even conformation that it won't work would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
P.S There is no HTC Evo Design forum so please don't tell me to post this in its forum.
Edit: I've also found out that this phone has no method of going into s-off mode so maybe that is a big reason why it has never been unlocked.
Seems like there was a progam back in the day that would turn s-off for this phone, it was called supertool, but it doesn't seem to work with the boost version because the stock rom is too updated for it, would it be possible to downgrade to a rom that would allow it to work? I know this might be too narrow of a subject to post about on such a general forum, really wish there was a better place to discuss this, but most of the ones that did are dead and gone.
Kinda disappointed there is so little information on this phone, kinda wish my friend bought something other than this one lol, is there anyone that i could get in contact with that I could possibly send my phone to, or give them information on this to help with unlocking the sim, or getting s-off?
Ok, I found this , it is the closest thing to what i am looking for, tried using it though and it does nothing . Can anyone double check if this works for their phone? I really am pulling at straws here, wonder if this could be tweaked to run on the htc evo design.
This is the build.prop of the HTC Evo Design 4G after using that file from the last link, I also put in the backup in case that file muddled up the build.prop and so anyone who has more knowledge on this sort of stuff can pinpoint whether that file could help in the first place.
I've been around the unlock business for awhile and don't believe there are any options for unlocking it besides for international use and only by Sprint (I don't think the Boost version even has that option). If, there was some way to unlock it for use here in the US (I'm certain there is not), it wouldn't get anything beyond 2g as it does not have the support for any HSPA frequencies besides 2100, which no US company uses.

5 colors, 5 fonts....not sure if I can take this seriously.
So we have to find out your phone which is stolen?
The hell is this ?
Very sorry to hear this! Even I got my phone stolen some weeks ago. It was pickpocketed in crowd. I had all kind of docs, memories in that phone. I cried almost everyday for the first couple of week. Even imagining the moment I noticed my phone stolen gives me fearful goosebumps. Reading through your post makes me realize we are in the very same boat.
Well, following are the major actions I took after losing my phone in chronological order:
1. The night phone got stolen, went to cyber cafe to ask what things to do. They asked for phone receipt
2. The following day, went to police, did both eFIR and written FIR. You gotta ask them humbly and in cultural manner. Keep visiting them in a week or fortnight
3. Posted on socials about the incident
4. Went to ask for CCTV recording but they denied. Also, police said the thief won't be visible enough coz I was in crowd when theft happened
5. Bought new SIM of the phone number
6. Got IMEI blacklisted and on-track by police
7. Put flyers around the area
8. Became religious
9. Tried inacting the scenario at the same place in hope of catching thief but police took cautious measures after my stolen report so probably thief not gonna do that anymore in that locality
10. Asked family, friends, strangers, netizens about their losing-their-phone experience
You can try these.
If you're Indian, then we have a specialized website for stolen phone cases. Otherwise, you can internationally blacklist your IMEI through any trusted worldwide operating IMEI blocking website like this. I am not associated with this website in any manner.
Also, please inform any other potential action that you think can help both of us retrieve phone. I am open to DM. I expect an acknowledgment from you. I hope my post help you in any way possible.
To XDA moderators, I am very new to XDA forum, though I have been reading developer related posts from here since years. I have read the guidelines but still, if I have broken any rule in this post or it has potential of getting deleted/blocked, please inform me first. Love to its members! Sweet and mature vibes!!
