I'm trying to learn how to properly port N7000 roms, to our Galaxy Note i717, for the benefit of all those flash-aholics out there, to add a few more roms to our forum, and possibly create a guide on how to do so.
The N7000 and the i717 have a few major differences that I'm personally aware of like the chipset and hardware, which I'm sure will cause some grief during the porting process.
What I'm hoping to do is gather enough knowledge from some great minds here at XDA, and make porting roms between our Notes a reality.
Any help, or suggestions are welcome and totally appreciated! Hope we can make this work!
 for everyone!

JellyBam alpha 1 build for i717 Galaxy Note.
JellyBam v1.2.0 + P.A.C alpha v.18 (P?+aokp+CM)
◎◎◎ I am Not a developer! This was made purely out of curiousity and motivation ◎◎◎
I will NOT be held responsible in any way for you flashing my file! But I will help. ت
This is a merged / ported rom, I took many of JellyBams v 1.2.0 features, and I used P.A.C alpha v 18 as the base rom.
This rom has not been tested yet, and may be unstable due to the fact that JellyBam v 1.2.0 belongs to the N7000 Galaxy Note.
I did however contact several people about porting from the N7000 to the i717, and though most responses were not so fruitful, a User at XDA helped with a few steps, and the rest I followed a guide.
So if there is a brave soldier out there, willing to flash, good luck and god speed! Obviously a backup is essential, as well as a full wipe.
That being said, it will remain untested until I get enough money for a second i717, just to be safe.
All credit goes to the JellyBam team for all their hard work on their rom, P.A.C team for all their hard work also, and Khan, for advice and guide!

Yeah, i would love to see the Alliance ROM*N7000*JB*XXLSZ for the i717! It has the best features: hover pen, multi-window, runs s note and stock apps while having the customization and look of nexus! Its like an enhanced note 2 rom! Anyone if its port able?

smeeehhhhhhrrrrrrrrr, i wish someone would prot over a JBTW Rom hahaha. Im lovin Cm10.1 but i went over to blackstar the other day and i forgot about all the cool stuff samsung threw in. The calendar, task widgets, and smemo. I know there are alternatives to most of these but its not the same. I hate to say it but Samsung did it right with TW. Also, i need to get my hands on that multi-window flav.

Hey guys, welcome in my thread!
I'm netchip, a young boy who likes to mod sources and phones, I said I'll bring AOSP to our SGS2, as we speak, here it is! It's clean from other things than AOSP. Pure AOSP, clean as possible. It's tested properly and it works very smooth . I'll update this when there's a new Android version out, like 4.0.4, but I need sources. The bugs are the same as CM9, youtube works properly. It's deodexed, has light GApps, and you need to enable sync in Settings before it does sync . No Facebook sync included because it isn't AOSP. They simply must update their app. If you need a modded version I'll refer to Paradoxxx's thread, I do help him with his development!
If you donate it goes into a fund for buying me a gnex (galaxy nexus), so I can easily test my new mods out and then port it to our SGS2. Trust me, I'll keep supporting the SGS2 .

Thanks for taking a look, Skyrocket forums are trying, but not much progress being made, Not that theyre not doing a hell of a job, its just a pain in the rear for this device imparticular. Ive been looking all over online not much help anywhere as far as development goes. The galaxy note (US) and the Hercules (T989) are similar, the Hercules almost identical, with exception of modem.

You should tell people everything you say on IRC
First, you're not testing the build on your own phone, we don't even know if you really have an SGS2. Your mom doesn't let you root your phone. You haven't done a lot of work on this ROM: It's mainly copy&paste of CM9 Galaxy S II device tree into AOSP, it's not like you actually -did- something.
Okay I agree, not everyone likes CM9 and some prefer pure AOSP, that's a matter of taste. But it's definately not worth giving a penny to a 12 years old boy which change opinion every other day ("I want an SGS3", next day "I want a Galaxy Nexus", next day "I want an HTC quadcore, f*ck samsung!", and now he wants a GNex again), and that NEVER contributed to the SGS2 development...
He says he'll keep on supporting SGS2, but how is he supporting right now? He's just doing a stripped copy and paste of CM9... If WE fix something then he'll "kang" it and put it into his ROM. He didn't even credited Team Hacksung yet, he "plans" to do it soon... Knowing from the beginning that it's based at 99% on our work.
You should remember that he also distributed a non-tested Galaxy Note kernel (he doesn't owns one), and plan to do so with other devices as well. This could've fully-bricked device... He is definately not someone you can trust, believe me.
Now if you want to give him money, go ahead. But I warned you.
somebody needs to go stand in the corner!
from reading what's left on the thread, i've been able to gather that the kid, who was the handler of netchip's rom for xda, took all the donation money and ran (does that about sum it up?) so the rom is no longer.
does anyone know if the rom is being continued somewhere else? if not, which rom are you moving on to? can anyone suggest an ics rom that has been working well for you? thx in advance.

true but to misrepresent yourself and to get rich on someone else's work isn't right either. anyway, i don't have enough info on the situation to pass judgment so i will stop there.

Probably got deleted for being in the wrong section, I think the sensation has this, so if we can get an AOSP kernel going from the source released even I can try to port it, though the great devs here would be able to do it with ease
, just give it a bit to bear fruit. :good:

passive aggressive comment ftw! I don't think you realize how much work is being put into the background to make the bigger projects EVERYONE wants into a working form.. most ports are easy if you choose the right device, if YOU are interested, I can send you a guide so you can make some offerings yourself, since I'm assuming you have a device to test on..
But just so you know, countless hours have been put into the big projects, even if you don't see progress.. and passive aggressive comments don't help anyone.
Also for you or anyone else, if you have something you want, and you can find some others who want it too - and it is a unique project that ACTUALLY offers something different, post it - sorta like this request thread! Otherwise the roms we have cover all the bases until we get cm9/10/aokp/sense4 working, which the new kernel source will really help with..

If you want I can show you how to make little flash ables that modify whatever your original rom release is. If the origin release didn't work properly, a small flashable flashed after that can make the changes you need.. then all you need is a quicker way to contact testers. But yea, you don't need to upload the whole thing every time..

I'm a flash addict so I switch between cm9/cm10 and a deodexed debloated stock...although I'm finding fewer and fewer reasons to revert to stock ICS. (Although I do miss s note)

I am partial to bigfau's {ROM}{& Stock Rooted, Zipaligned, Deodexed & CRTUCLF6} Official ICS, Pure & Odexed ...the "better version".
Why? It's stock with the nicities (?) I want and I can't think of anything that doesn't work.
Fast enough for me, rooted, i can use stock samsung apps like "s note" and calender, and modded tethering for the occasional connection I need.
I've been on this version longer than any other.

Kernel development, as far as I can tell, is one of the most challenging aspects of android development.
Are you requesting a working kernel, or guide to get you started on building one yourself?
If the former, would you like a side of bacon and eggs, too? If the latter, I suggest searching the Web for resources. Not to sound like a jerk, but I don't think you understand the gravity of your request.
We only recently got 'sauce', so working ICS kernels other than stock are a treat.
If you want more kernel development, donate to your dev.

It's not that we don't believe you, it's just you have no proof. You haven't given us any reason to believe you. Maybe if you has the credibility of a Dev here on xda you could get away with that old "friend of mine" line.

Technically he does but what I mean is he doesn't use it. I can ask him to get on and talk to you to prove if you want
