Google Voice works perfectly for me. What's going wrong for you?

it said something about not being able to configure because of my carrier I can't find the phone voicemail options in settings at the moment any advice would be appreciated

VZW doesnt yet offer native integration with google voice. It will still work though. I have mine all set up. You have to type in a code to set your line to forward to your gvoice number when its busy or times out. This code redirects the call to google which then answers with your voicemail. I cant recall the code, i think its *28 then you type in your google number, ie *284105551212 from your dialer. The phone will look like its placing a call, then hang up a few seconds later. When youre installing google voice just tell it to skip the voicemail steps.

Just looked it up and found the following:
If you are having trouble configuring Google Voice as your voicemail service on Verizon you can make the switch manually by dialing all three of these activation codes:
*71[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on Conditional Forwarding, which should transfer calls to your Google Voice number when your Verizon phone is busy or unanswered after 3 to 6 rings.
*90[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on Busy Transfer, which transfers all calls that would hear a busy signal to your Google Voice number.
*92[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on No Answer Transfer, which transfers all calls unanswered after 3 to 6 rings to your Google Voice number.
To Deactivate the Call Forwarding, dial *73 [Send]
To Deactivate the Busy Transfer, dial *900 [Send]
To Deactivate the No Answer Transfer, dial *902 [Send]

thank you. with that information I easily found this website that helped me

Yes... Remember once you set up GVoice and do the correct forwarding codes, it will continue with every phone after that, until you reverse the codes again. The forwarding codes are not specific to your phone. They are part of your actual service. So if you switch phones, all you have to do is setup the GVoice app and change to Google voice mail in your settings. SKIP everything else., like the previous poster said.

what is the proper voicemail #
Log into Google Voice on your computer and see what your GV Voicemail number is. It should be listed on the top right of the screen. Then dial *71(gvnumber).

You need to disable call screening. As far as I can tell there isn't a way to disable screening on call waiting though.

Log in to Google Voice on the website, not the app, and go to settings.
under the "calls" tab, there's a "Call Screening" section. Click the setting from on to off.
as far as I know, there is no other way to change this -- it cannot be done from within the voice app (afaik).
make sure you save your settings.
Thanks

Voicemail/Google Voice Issue

I have been trying to get my phone to change my Voicemail service to Google voice but it will not change. I am running the Base 0.7.3. Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Same issue here... no idea how to do it
Can't you just dial *004#googlevoicenumber#
That always worked for me.

I get the following....
"Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
Edit --
It's actually... *004*1googlevoicenumber#
And it worked for me!
I've had no issues. other than the numbers being listed in the call log are the Google Routing Numbers...not the name of the person in my contact list.
Go to your google voice page on a computer. Go to the settings. Under the phones tab there should be something like "activate my voicemail." It will give you instructions similar to what is posted above.
Thanks worked perfectly.

I also had to use the *004* mess to get mine to connect a few days ago.
Ah yes. Sorry about the first pound sign.

Is there a way to change the number dialed when pressing #1 Speed dial key or voicemail key in the dialer from ATT# to Google voicemail #?

I tried this, but the number does not change. It stays the same after I hit Enable.

That sucks. It worked for me.
Did you encounter any problems while setting up the voicemail for the first time?
I had issues getting it to work when changing settings on the phone, so ended up updating the settings online, which worked for me.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I had to change online, but it only changed the voicemail setting for incoming calls. So if someone calls me it does go to Google now. However if I try to call my voicemail using #1 Speed dial or Voicemail icon on the bottom left of the dialer it calls ATT instead of Google. And I that's waht I am having trouble with...
I couldn't get it to work either but I downloaded the AT&T visual voicemail app from the play store and that one works great

Can someone help me setup Google voice?

I have a verizon note 2 and my visual voicemail just hasnt been working correctly for awhile. I can't seem to get google voice setup can anyone give me a hand? Idk where the setting for voicemail provider is and whenever I get voice mails it still goes to my verizon one. I also got some error telling me it couldnt be configured

This will setup to google. Then open google voice. Follow the prompts. When it ask you to configure do it. In call settings under voice mail change it to google voice. It will say some error do it anyway. It must say voicemail changed. If it didn't click voicemail again in the settings and select *86. Then select google voice. If it just spins and doesn't say voicemail changed then all good. Reboot device. When it reboots go back into voicemail settings and tap google voice again and it should say voicemail changed.
I have, setup google voice on countless devices over the, past few years and this always works for me. 0 issues. Even after flashing a new Rom I continue to do the same steps above and never have voice mail issues on Verizon. I hope this helps you.

Also if it doesn't work for you I am getting my note 2 Mon or tues and I will do it and outline better details. My wife has a gs3 and this worked first try on hers. All Verizon phones will throw,an error but it will change. The key is when you see a box pop up that says voicemail changed you know it worked.
Thank you. I got it goinf there now im not getting voicemail notifications.

You might have to go into Google voice on your desktop and disable and re-enable(activate) your phone number.

Not sure what you mean by the default greeting but there are, or used to be as I haven't looked in at least a year, all kinds of settings in voice.google.com. You can also call your Google Voice number from your phone and then use the touch tone menu.

My workaround may be a little cumbersome but im glad its helping.

Reject call without it going to voice mail?

I keep getting spam calls and would like to shut them off without going to voice mail. If the spammers get an indication that the phone number is a valid number they will continue to call. I have tried to block them but they have so many different numbers it is impossible.
Any ideas? Thanks
Have you ever tried youmail? Its a app that's basically visual voice mail. You can see the number the message is from and just deleye rather than dialing in entering your pin and then pressing the key to delete. Give it a shot I found out about it on xda somewhere and like it better than the regular voicemail. Hope this helps

You could also try Mr Number. That app has an option to pick up and immediately hang up on people.
