[Q] ICS Rollout over? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi Guys
Does anyone have any knowledge of the official ICS rollout for the mini pro - i have a fully unlocked unbranded mini pro (UK) which states upgradeable to ICS on the box!
Ive looked on with envy as the majority of users have had the update beginning June (almost 6 months ago)!
Now Sony have taken down their lists of SI numbered update schedules (the last of which was in October) and my continual efforts to get any info at all from their support are met with little or no relevant info.
Is that it? Is it time to roll up the sleeves and do it the root/flashtool way?
If anyone has any further info from Sony can you let me know
Thanks

Lol. Didn't realize there are xda user who still rely on regional update. 99.9% of users here upgrade to official ics via flashtool the day sony start to roll out the update. We dont depends on regional update.
If u that concern about rooting, warranty and stuff, flashing via flashtool wont void your warranty. U dont even need root to do it.

[Q] X10 Firmware help

Heya
Basically im on Orange in the UK on firmware version 1.6, build number R2BA020,
I have seen various posts on the site saying 026, my question is why have i not had this update, am i supposed to get it as seus says its up to date. My phone as far as i know has no branding, Im confused, any reason why i am still on the 020 build with baseband version 1.1.25.
Thanks
Vengeance
Run the repair option using PC Companion as some have said that has brought the newer fw.
Hi - I believe that the Orange handsets are branded - there's just no obvious sign of it!.. I think it's just Orange wanting to carefully (over carefully!) control the distribution of f/w to their phones... Wouldn't worry about 026 now - may as well wait for And 2.1.. Having said that - if you want 2.1 anytime soon you may need to debrand..
Suggest you contact Orange and ask them when they will be releasing the 2.1 f/w.

How very nice of them to secretly brand my phone -_-
Recommended way to debrand?

Does FOTA actually work??

Sorry for asking a simple question but even the o2 gurus don't know.
Do updates come via ota or do you HAVE to use kies to get updates??
Or is there only specific updates that come via ota? Ie gingerbread updates come via ota but touchwiz/Samsung updates cone through kies??
There seems to be conflicting info on the net.
Currently have unbranded s2 on o2

Kies FOTA has yet to be used by Samsung .
Samsung apps updates come OTA via the Samsung Apps widget .
jje
If I remember correctly, Samsung never licenced the OTA capability, so while you will see the Software Update in settings, you won't get any joy.
Any official updates will appear via Kies.
FOTA is a service provided by google, a paid service that is. samsung doesnt pay

love the phone, had to jump through a few hoops to get it work through linux/ubuntu as well.. Hence the FOTA update query as i dont go near a windows pc that often.
Anyways an update is needed, after emailing samsung online support team (god knows how long it took me to find this) i received this back
"Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the
following assistance.
Regarding your query, kindly note UK does not support yet OTA ‘over the air’ updates and you can kindly
check our website for further and latest updates. We would like to inform you that our engineering’s are
working on releasing a firmware over the air update for the Galaxy S II ‘GT-I9100’ but it is still not available yet;
however, any news on this matter will be made public through our website so kindly keep checking our
website for latest and further updates.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and
we will be more than happy to help."
if i know engineers... this may be a long * infinity amount of time
They started FOTA in sweden a few days ago for SGS2
There are several reports that this works well. You simply go to settings->about and manually check for update.
They probably launch soon in other countries as well.

This is also confirmed in Finland. First update I believe we've had since the phone was released..
This is great news for me because as a Mac user Kies does not do firmware upgrades. It will tell you the current and the new version, but no option to update... After seeing this for weeks I pulled out my thinkpad who's sole purpose is Kies.
New version of Kies came out, updated, but some driver would not get installed.. so I uninstalled, downloaded the new version and installed. Still did not work so decided to install the windows updates.. Since that was taking forever decided to kill time looking at XDA.. so I found this thread. Figured it would not work but what the heck...
Checked for software update, downloaded, installed. Done, in 10 minutes.
Good thing too as my "Kies" PC fails to boot after the windows updates......

Sounds great, I guess Samsung has released an OTA update for the "NEE" region regardless of the specific country then. If I'm right OTA should work in Denmark and Norway as well, assuming you're using stock firmware though...
So are these OTA's being delivered by Samsung or by your carrier??

This is done via the Samsung account (you need to create one when searching for udpate the first time). So these are delivered by Samsung at least in that sense.
But also carrier specific firmwares in general are released by Samsung (via Kies).
FOTA Didn't work for me. Kies is not loading.
I will stay with 2.3.
t-mobile (austria) got FOTA update today http://fota-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/MAX/GT-I9100/FW-20120418-89510.bin ? strange version date ? for galaxy SII (bin file is a zip archive with delta_ files...)
Yup...updates over the Air FOTA is real
But you can update your phone firmware via Kies as it is considered to be more safe...

hi, got some information about fota device register. (http://pastebin.com/byVGYzbb) only question is how to get the OAUTH_CONSUMER_SECRET, think it must be stored somewhere on the device or included in some library...
hints welcome
edit (21.10.2012): found some password and user id in wssdmdatabase.db (table profile) (some data is unchanged after factory reset, but [*nonce] is changed)...

Why am i stuck at android version 2.3.4 on an unlocked s g sii?

Hey guys ive had this phone for a good while now, i keep hearing people upgrading their phones to this version and that... and now i see people upgrading "officially" to ICS android, how come that everytime i check samsung skies it says my phone is up to date with android version 2.3.4?
Are these updates trully official? My phone is unlocked so thats not an issue, i feel like ive been missing out alot of stuff :\
Any info regarding this is welcome with my best regards.
why not dl any of official rooms like LP7/8 n flash with odin ?
There is probably not an official ICS release for your carrier or region and there hasn't been an update since GB 2.3.4, you aren't alone in this Bell Canada hasn't ever updated their phones via Kies from 2.3.3 and likely never will, this doesn't prevent you from using Odin to upgrade from GB to ICS, if you do it with an official version you wont end up rooted and you wont increase your counter, it may be quicker to do this instead of waiting, you can always go back and upgrade via Kies if/when your carrier/region receives an official update.
2.3.4 is the latest GB version for unlocked S2's in the UK. Samsung have realeased ICS to the mobile operators first. Their reason for not releasing it for unlocked phones yet is that they need all the mobile operators to verify it works on their networks. Seems reasonable to me.
You can always root and install one of the many ICS custom roms that are already available. Personally, I've tried a couple but will be sticking with GB for the time being. It's faster and has better battery life for me.
HTH
Maybe because you live in Outer Mongolia or you have a special version of the SGSII.
You need to give a bit more detail of your country, the model and the firmare.
Settings -> About phone
Model Number?
Bseband version?
Kernel version?
Build version?
You say that the phone is unlocked, was it locked to a network or has it always been unlocked?
Hey guys thanks a bunch for all your replies, i live in Portugal and my samsung galaxy s2 is unlocked, i find it quite shocking that UK is facing the exact same problem... maybe i should get it rooted on this current version? will i loose warranty if i do that?
Ive got the exact same problem except mine was bought from Greece. This blows.

thanks for the info, ive been reading a bit of that thread but i would like an official version of ICS for portugal ill let it get more stable too, i really dont want to format my phone just to switch back because of some issues ppl report with some of those versions but thanks anyways.
I guess samsung galaxy s2 newer firmwares are not released yet to europe, imo samsung should have done more with a phone of this performance... and price.
dont bring whole europe into it
its specific parts that dont have it yet. uk unlocked is already out few days back.
get checkfus download to see when you get official ICS for your region.
sammobile too

No ICS on new Xperia Ray?

Just received a new Xperia Ray locked to Orange. I have tried both the software update service and PC companion but both say my phone is up to date on 2.3.4.
The sony site says an upgrade is available for the phone (I even followed the link and upgraded my wife's Arc-S last night) but directs to install PC companion.
Orange suggest using the update function on the phone but none of these are updating; they all say I have latest firmware.
I checked the SI list and my code isnt there (well, not entirely) its SI 1254-3795.5
That last bit after the hypen doesn't relate to anything in that list.
Any idea how I can get it updated without rooting? Although there is a bit of Orange shovelware on there I would like to lose.
Phone was bought on 10th May from Orange online.
ICS 4.0.3 has been distributed to all ray a month ago. A new ICS 4.0.4 is rolling out but there are numerous people claiming their SI number are in the list but update service says they have the latest firmware. I for myself has that problem. This must be a problem from sony server.
Sent from my ST18i using Tapatalk 2
Is there any way of getting the firmware and flashing it legally?
I presume from the Orange shovelware I mentioned that I am going to have to wait for Orange to release an update (complete with more of their stuff I dont want)?
Just found this on the Sony support forum:
Even if SI numbers are added for the cell phones, updating the phones will not be possble, as Sony Xperia Support team Member Johan, said that there's some problem with the server, and so people runining GB currently will not be able to update using PCC or SUS. We need to wait, for the update to resume again, and all the problems with the servers removed.
Looks like patience is needed or I flash manually...
Or if your phone is branded, the operator might have blocked the updates for your phone. Then you have to contact Orange.
Can I flash it manually with the Nordic firmware without unlocking anything or rooting?

Yes.
Brilliant...all done and running 4.0.4. Dont remember it being that easy when i used to flash my HD2.
Best of all...no Orange bloatware.
Still need to get it unlocked though...
Hi can you comfirm if your text and gmail app is working on your nordic firmware
As my
Gmail wont send photo attchments it says sent but never shows up on other end
Also text say sending but never send
Thank you
I've got the same problem with my Orange UK Ray, my issue is that's it's on a contract through work so I'm not sure I'm allowed to update the software unless I use the Sony website.
I contacted Orange to find out if they have a date for ICS on the Ray, they quoted "end of the year - more likely December rather than November"! I'm desperate for ICS, does anyone know if I void the contract if I upgrade to ICS by flashing the Nordic software?

I have an Orange UK Xperia Ray and got bored of waiting for ICS so I flashed mine to a stock 4.03 Central European firmware, which then updated to official 4.0.4 through PC Companion. This was a couple of months ago but Maps / Navigation is not as stable as GB, having frozen a couple of times so have mixed feelings. Flashing different firmware to the one it shipped with invalidates your warranty AFAIK...
If anyone has a copy of the UK Orange FW for SI 1254-3795 in .ftf format I would appreciate it for the stability and warranty, seeing as an official update is on the horizon.

[Q] Three (H3G) Branded S3

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question here that I cant seem to piece the answer together for. I have seen in the forum requests and talk about Three branded S3's and just wondered if anyone that has used it or knows more than I could tell me.
1) Apart from start-up logo is there anything else on a 3 branded phone that's missing or cant be removed without needing to be root or re-flashing it?
2) I directly asked the guys in the shop if they change the firmware/ROM and they said no when Samsung release updates you get them instantly, would that be true? I mean if its branded doesn't that mean it goes through the network to tinker before release?
I ask as my HTC Desire was from T-Mobile and they took so long to release the 2.3 update (If they ever did) I went custom ROM and while I can always go custom or flash an unbranded ROM out of the box I could just go to carphone warehouse, etc and buy it unbranded in the first place (For a slightly worse deal) and the fear I feel flashing a brand new phone is quite high
Thanks,
Snowdan.

i can tell you that its not true., i also purchased it on three UK and the firmware it came with was the inital release one which is I9300XXALE8_I9300H3GALE4_H3G which i believe was released in may, i tried to update to the latest one via ota and kies but it kept saying my software is uptodate. which was a lie. i then installed I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4) which is a unbranded version and check on kies and immediately it prompted me for an update I9300XXBLFB (4.0.4) which was released 26 June 2012. I9300BVALE4 (4.0.4) was released 13 May 2012.
i had to change the CSC so that kies would recognize my device and allow updates.

Thanks for the response guys it sounded unlikely. I will take the non optimal deal and have the unbranded out of the box just to save the upfront effort. Once I start flashing ROM's I find it hard t stop and would like to use this vanilla and unrooted (Hoping for Sky Go ICS support one of these days) for a bit.
Thanks,
Snowdan.
