[Q] Still Stuck On 4.0.3 ? :( - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am from Pakistan (Specifically From Islamabad) , i flashed 2.3.5 on my SGSII (Stock Rom from sammobile.com) and checked for software update , it updated to 4.0.3 and now i am stuck on it , when i check for update , no new update is found and i think 4.1.2 is coming in December where as i have not yet received 4.0.4 i dont want to flash with ODIN as i know i can do that , just need a OTA update , anyone else has updated SGSII or no ?

For what i know, 4.1.2 hasnt came out yet. Only leaked version.

Did you flash correct ROM for Pakistan using sammobile? Go to sammobile and I check what's the latest for Pakistan 4.0.4 or 4.0.3. As far as I know India got 4.0.4 about a month and half back, so there should have been an update for Pak.
4.1.2 update hasn't been decided and even after it starts rolling, we guys will be one of the last to get updates.

does it come with a carrier loaded ROM? If so i think you have to wait for them to release it, as they put their own bloatware on.
Ricey
If i get your question rt.. i got this as unlocked in amazon, no carrier linkage i guess.. is tat correct?....

if you go to this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) excellent thread by intratech, you will see that UHKI2 is the latest firmware for your region. if you want 2.3.5. you will have to change the firmware to one of the european or hong kong firmwares (go through the thread, there might be more). you would need to do this using Odin, so "manual" update.
if you want 2.3.7 then you would have to slap CM7 onto your phone, but in that case you would have to do without any samsung software.
Oh.. ... i dint know it automatically changes to region specific ones.. earlier i had europian i guess....if i go for CM it would be a xomplete flash rt?... if yes then i would wait for ICS.... thank u all for the help....

Update via Kies?
Hi.. I'm very new to this and just got an unlocked Crazy Johns GS2: GT-I9100T, version 2.3.3, PDA DU-KH1, Phone DU-KF4, CSC VAU-KG2, 11 Aug '11. Is it possible to just change the CSC (backup, press *#272*IMEI#, select a region code, install), so Kies sees my phone as unbranded and for a region (eg. UK or Hong Kong?), where Samsung has officially released version 2.3.5, so I can update via Kies?

I would suggest you get your hands dirty now, because Samsung said ICS will get released on this phone next year January 2012, which is pretty long if you think about it, and you know you will keep checking back here and one day you will lose patience and install CM7 onto the phone.
Just install CM7 now onto the phone.
Yes it is a complete wipe ROM, just have ClockworkMod Recovery to Wipe Cache + Data + Dalvik, then install the CM7 ROM from the internal SD (by wiping Cache + Data + Dalvik, it does not delete anything on the 16GB internal partition). You do not flash using Odin, and everything is based on the phone after moving the ROM of CM7 from the computer to the phone.

List will show latest firmware .
Kies will only update if the phone provider has updated for your phone not because other users have later version or their is a later stock rom or you have not followed the upgrade path .

What if the device is not belong to carrier? Its unbranded phone..

Your device cannot be updated via Kies...

Ok so i'm on a UK Sim Free Samsung Galaxy S2 and was fed up with being stuck with the official 2.3.4 firmware so i manually flashed my firmware with Odin using the official ROM and all is running perfect but my baseband version has changed and firmware version to 'XXLPQ' and now Kies won't let me use it to do any other potential future updates?? Maybe because ICS isnt released officially on UK sim free??? Plz help! Thankssss!

Why panic? As soon as an update is available it is posted on Intratech's thread. You can just manually install again

Can you please explain what do you mean ?
I'll very appreciate it if you could explain what you said
I am not sufficiently familiar with all Android device and the world.
1. CF-Root
2. install and use triangle away
3. Go into CWM recovery and wipe data/cache
4. Download ICS firmware for your region with checkfus
5. Flash the firmware with odin
6. Make sure you have the right CSC to receive future OTA updates.

1. Download the ICS firmware of your region
2. Flash it using Odin. Make sure re-partition checkbox is unchecked
3. Full Wipe - If it loops on the boot. Actually is does loop.
All the best

Ah ok....but it is safe to flash it even it is official firmware from those country? coz im leaving here in dubai. maybe it is not compatible?
As long as your phone model name is I9300, it's fine. They just contain some country-specific files but it will be compatible. For example, I was using the Polish official firmware on my UK phone, until the UK one came through yesterday.

if your model is GT-i9300, it is completely safe.. but you won't be getting any regional updates for this matter with Kies
The only thing that must be of little concern is the radio and of course OTA updates

dont forget to backup it first before you get to flash to stock rom. just for prevent
