So when I switch my phone to 3G Only or LTE/4G, basically anything other than global mode and lose signal like in the NYC subway it constantly pops up asking if I want to switch to global mode. This is probably the most annoying thing about this phone. Anyone know of a way to prevent the prompting?
global mode

nope, it seems like the phone still searches for a GSM signal or wifi even you have options selected which would otherwise make you think those radios are off. can get annoying but I must say with all those radios on in this phone i am surprised at how it still has amazing battery life.

Hey guys and gals,
Posted this on Android forums, so thought i'd see what you guys think too. Tried searching but didn't really find anything.
I have been wondering about my signal on my SGS 2 as it's been up and down like a yo yo, and in some instances I get 0 bars and then it goes up on its own. This is whether im set on 2G or 3G or both, and has been getting on my nerves.
Add to the time without signal being quite high, I thought i'd try and work out the issue.
Well it seems that, if i'm on GSM only for example, the phone will switch randomly between GPRS or EDGE, even though I have network traffic turned off.
Whenever it switches between GPRS and EDGE, my reception goes from whatever bars it was on, down to 0, then back up to full. It does this often, and is annoying lol.
On 3G it does exactly the same, but i'm guessing between UTMS and HSPDA.
I tried searching before coming on and found nothing.
Is it possible this is hammering battery life? And affecting whether I have a signal (time without a signal) and can it be addressed?
Anyway hope this helps anyone with the same annoying issues.
Biff.
Title says it all. In a 4g area yet my rezound just sits on 3gunless I go into mobile networks and hot LTE/cdma even if its already selected as default, and after its on 4g for a bit and I stop using it for a few minutes it jumps back to 3g... Any ideas?
if you're on gingerbread, you might have power mode set to normal.
I ran into this too when i was playing with the power mode settings. Its in settings and power mode.
High performance will always try to go to 4g
Nah I have it set to high performance
How many bars do you get on 4g?
Its usually 3 - 5 bars if i force it.
I had weird issues and had to re-RUU the OTA. Something was funky with the radio software. After the RUU it was fine.
Well im about to root and put cleanrom on my Rezound so we'll see if it still has any issues after I do that. I will report back.
I am using an unlocked ATT atrix in India. I own it for the past 6 months. I am very happy with the smartness of the phone. I want any person who knows about the phone or owns to phone to help me answer the following questions
I am using Tata Docomo and sometimes when there is low network in a place what happens is that my phone initially shows only one or two bars and then suddenly my phone has full signal and the Docomo logo is now visible on the notification bar. ( earlier it used to show roaming as well , i guess that was because i switched off roaming data) . I keep data on 24/7. Why does this happen. I dont have any complains reg this issue its just that i want to know whether this is my phones cool feature or docomo's cool feature.
I keep my phone on max battery saver( phone's stock battery saver feature) so i guess it shuts down data while i am sleeping. But the problem is that when i get up the Edge symbol (E) vanishes and earlier i used to restart the phone to make it come back and booting takes a lot of time. but now i found out the easy way to make it come back. by going to the mobile network setting it automatically comes back. But the problem is that when dont use my phone for just an hour the Edge symbol stays but the double sided arrows goes off and i dont know how to make it come back instantly. it comes but it takes its own sweet time.
this problem is really irritating, when i go to places where there is poor network and my phones cool feature doesnt activate ( the first point) then what happens is that my Edge goes off ( i guess it goes to save battery due to poor reception) but when i come back to a place with good network the Edge fails to come back. HOW DO I MAKE IT COME BACK without me restarting my phone.

guys please help
Change the Battery Mode to PERFORMANCE MODE and Keep Background Data, Data Roaming and Data Enabled CHECKED.
In case E doesn't show arrows then no need to reboot the phone. You just Enable the Flight Mode first and then Disable it.
Hope it helps.

As the title states, does anyone know of an app for Android that will let me disable data or put it into airplane mode if the phone starts to overheat? I've looking for something that does this for a while now, and have yet to stumble onto anything. This all stems from the frustration of picking up a 50°C and wanting to shout "YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ****ING SIGNAL, STOP TRYING TO DOWNLOAD ****," especially as with Sprint's lackluster 4G rollout in the Chicago area, my phone will report excellent signal strength, and yet I'll have no data. Even with battery minder apps, having no effective reception gnaws on the battery.
My wife and I bought Verizon LG G3s on the same day last month. Lately mine has been dropping from LTE to 3G most of the time. Hers is always LTE. This happens when the phones are in the same location.
IS there anything in the settings that might be causing this problem and is there anything I can do to get back consistent LTE?
My phone does the same. Once it switches to 3g from 4g it has a rough time going back. My wife's g2 doesn't have this problem. Since we can't update our radio's I suggest making airplane mode your best friend.
Do you me toggling airplane mode on and off solves the problem for you?
What I don't get is that after going Airplane mode or turning off Call Data, and then turning it back on again my phone will sync at -93dbm LTE for a little bit, maybe 2 minutes or so, but as soon as it goes to sleep and I wake it up it lands at -103dbm and never back at -93dbm.
I think the radio in these phones has problems.
I don't know if this will help or not but when I bought my G3 "global" mode was default instead of LTE/CDMA.
Try changing it and see if that helps.
Settings
Mobile networks
System select
Network mode
-change global to lte/cdma
Mine is on global. The other choice, LTE, GSM,UMTS is greyed out. However, my phone is on 4gLTE at the moment.
Switched mine from Global to LTE/CDMA and the signal strength jumped to -93dbm but a minute later it was back to -102dbm.
When this issue occurs do you see a SIM icon with a question mark in it? Ive been having an issue where it drops from 4g to LTE and that icon appears, toggling airplane mode or restarting the phone fixes it. Im going to try getting a new SIM next time it occurs, but im definitely worried about getting a replacement phone that is on the "C" software version (no root right now)

No I have not seen a SIM card icon. It's purely a signal issue. I rarely if ever drop out of 4G where I live but I wonder why the signal starts out at something like -93 until the phone goes to sleep and then ends up at a solid -103dbm.
Seems weird.
Power management on the radio might be too aggressive as the phone warms up ?
