I have a T-Mobile Pocket Phone Edition,
It's had a rough life but as kept going for over 3 years now.
For the last year I would have to realign the screen 2 or 3
times a week but over the last few months it keeps getting worse.
Sometimes the screen won't respond to anything anywhere,
then after I tap it a few times boom works fine.
Sometimes I'll tap on the “Ok” and the “Start menu” will activate.
Sometimes drawing a line up the center of the screen will end up
shooting all over the screen.
And sometime it will work perfectly!
I thought the problems were to erratic to be hardware so
I hard set after awhile it started again,
So I hard set and installed a different ROM after a coupe hours
the problem was back.
Also sometimes the align program will get stuck in a
loop that doesn't end.
I've searched but can't find an answer? Anyone have an idea?
I've already taken it a part once but couldn't see how to get
any further after I toke the back panel off? Please help!
WOW nobody? So no one was heard of this problem before?
Can anyone direct me to directions on taking apart the Wallaby?
Thanks <><
It's a problem with touch screen. You should check (and fix) it.
Maybe it is necessary to press well screen to the motherboard. (Sorry my english).
Ok, Can you tell me where that connection is?
Thanks
Toke everything apart, found the connection, cleaned everything (w/ screen wipe)
put it all back together. Still have the touch problem and now the backlight won't work!
I've found if I press the unit in my hand the touch panel works right,
I don't think it's a lose connection to the main board so I think it must be
one on the main board.
If anybody thinks they want it for parts let me know! :?
I'm brand new to HTC devices so I'm unsure if the dialer is sense or if this is a ICS dialer were dealing with. (My old phone was a Droidx, so my exp is with blur and asop 2.3 from liberty).
Either way though i seem to have come across an interesting "bug" or at least unusual behavior.
I've noticed on almost every other call, weather it's incoming or outgoing, the MOMENT you dial/answer the screen goes dark. Now i can press the power button to wake it up again and it will stay on for exactly 5 seconds before going dark again. If i flip on speaker phone the screen will stay on, however the moment i turn off speaker phone it goes dark again.
Whats really annoying is if i go back to the home screen it still goes dark after 5 seconds but now when i wake it up it's at the lock screen. If i try to unlock it the moment i touch the screen it goes dark. No matter where i touch the screen the phone is now perma locked until the call is finished.
Now like i said this happens every other call so far in the 6 times I've tested this, which i thought was really odd. The other times the screen stays on and acts completely normal no matter what i do while a call is active. Fresh reboot makes no difference. I haven't done a factory reset yet as I'm trying avoid that.
What i have done so far is unlocked the bootloader, Flashed recovery, and the root from con247's thread in the dev section. I don't think that has anything to do with it though since i noticed the screen going black during a call before i started messing with bootloaders/recovery/root. I just didn't test it as well before doing those things cuz i didn't think anything of it.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior and does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the proximity sensor is going wonky. You might try a factory reset and without installing anything else see if you get the same issue. Also, make sure that any programs you have installed are not affecting it for some reason.

Just factory reset it, skipped setup completely and started making calls, same issue. You maybe right about the sensor though. The first call acted up like i explained. The second call the screen was staying on like i expected, but once i switched speaker phone off and then back on the screen shut off and started acting like call one again.
I just got this phone 6 hours ago i wonder how hard it will be to convince verizon there's a hardware fault. I guess i'd better unroot it and remove recovery so i can call in the morning.

I just wanted to make sure i understand this before i do it.
To remove the root i need to install the RUU for the phone, which i found at http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?13550-Asian-Shooter-goes-ICS-and-a-VZW-Fireball-RUU (second link i assume).
I haven't downloaded it yet, but it's an exe. Will it flash the phone via USB, or does it just extract something i can use recovery to flash with?
Once i get the root removed i just need to flash back the original recovery and i should be good to go right?

There are directions in the RUU that will explain all of the steps. You will connect your phone with the USB cable.
It shouldn't be to hard to convince them. Just show them the steps you did to reproduce the issue. Good luck.
On the phone right now and the guy is setting up overnight sat delivery to my house. We are a fairly large business account so i'm glad they are going that extra mile.
Just to note I've noticed the sensor doesn't shut off after a call is complete. In fact it stayed on last night for around 6 hours before finally turning off. I did another test this morning and once again the sensor is stuck on, so good call. Thanks so much for your help, i never would have thought sensor, it seemed like a software issue to me!

Hey guys,
I got my Redmi note 2 yesterday and I'm having trouble with the touchscreen. sometimes it seems to be perfectly fine and sometimes it doesn't react properly. It seems to be worse in the right half of the screen. Sometimes I start scrolling and it works fine in the beginning, then the screen stops detecting my finger and when it detects it again, it opens the thing that my finger is on instead of scrolling.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware of a software bug.
Would calibrating the screen help? If so, whats the best way to do that?
I would usually try flashing a clean stock rom (the one it came with has some bloatware anyway) and test if that resolves the issue, but that's probably not the best idea if I decide to return it.
thanks for your help

Try entering in the MTK Eng. Mode, then go to Hardware Testing->TouchScreen->HandWriting and try drawing some lines crossing the point where the problem occurs.
A friend of mine had a Nexus 5 with a malfunctioning touchscreen, doing a similar test we noticed that there was a full horizontal line where the touch were not detected so every vertical line we were trying to draw were broken on the point where the bad line were crossed.
Obviously in that case it was an hw fault.
EDIT:
Reading your post again, it seems a behavior caused by lag, so maybe it's a sw problem and not an hw one, especially for the fact that "it opens things instead of scrolling".
Does it always happen in the same point/area? Or is it totally random?

I already did that and the results are very inconsitent. When I first tried it, it started drawing a line as it should, then it stopped and started again half a centimeter later, then it stopped again, and it pretty much went like that from top to bottom of the screen (at least on the right side of the screen, the left side worked better).
When I did the same test again, it didn't even draw lines, it just highlighted a few single pixels along the way that my finger was traveling.
And currently everything works perfect and smooth as it should.
It does kind of feel like a software-thing, but in my mind (correct me if I'm wrong) that should affect the complete screen equally and it just doesn't. I tried pulling down the notification bar earlier, from the top right of the screen and it just didn't work. I did a few tries and nothing happened. Then I tried pulling it down from the top left and it worked fine.
As I said it works fine at the moment, but I guess I'll make a few screenshots and a video of the problem, when it occurs again.
Ok, so the problem came back and I was able to do some more testing and make a video (sorry about the shabby quality, but it'll have to do ).

As it turns out, the whole screen is affected equally, so I'm pretty confident that it's just the software but I'd still like to hear a second opinion.
The thing that kinda throws me off is that the reboot didn't help at all...
So what do you think? Is it just buggy software?
I'd try contacting the seller and explaining him the problem.
Maybe he will ask you to flash a new rom to be sure that it's a hardware problem and not something that could be solved without a replacement. That's what happened with my first phone from China.
If not, you could ask him and I think he will authorize you.

sounds like a good idea, I'll do that.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I was playing Deep Dungeons of Doom (ftw), then the screen suddenly turned off and locked. So I unlocked it, but as soon as I put in my code the screen shut off and locked again. It wouldn't stop. So I had to force a reboot. When the phone came back on, I unlocked it and sure enough it locked again. I did this again but put in the code slowly (I'm using the swipe lock). Then it unlocked properly. Seems to be working properly so far...
Anyone else experience this?
Me too...
Hi!
My phone has the same behavior (screen goes on and off randomly).
It does look like we are not the only one since people opened a topic on OP forum: https:// forums.oneplus.net/threads/screen-lock-issue-oneplus-x.404960/
Does it still happen on your side?
See ya!

I recently installed MasterAwesome's CM 12 ROM and no longer have the issue (at least not yet).

Never mind... It just happened again. :/
I just realized something. The screen lock issue only seems to happen when the phone goes into landscape, specifically when you turn it to the left (camera on the left side, capacitive keys on the right). I can reproduce the issue by playing a game which forces landscape orientation (sword of xolan, cytus). The issue happens every time, within a minute of playing. However, when I start the game and hold the phone in the opposite position (capacitive keys on the left, camera on the right), it works perfectly well. The screen does not shut off and lock by itself.
I have no idea if it is the same with others.
I guess I had this issue while playing NFS no limits

I know this is an old thread, but I just thought I should add an update. I know what the issue was. It was the magnetic sensor. I have the OP case with the flip cover. When I have the cover folded back behind the device, and the device is put into landscape and then you adjust the volume, it would shut the screen down as though I had closed the cover. If i take the phone out of the case the issue does not occur. I can replicate the issue again and again with the case on and the cover folded back.
So there you have it. If you have the same issue, try taking the cover off.
I just ordered a new spigen case. One without a cover.
Having this issue with my one plus 3t
I don't have a magnetic cover it seems to occur when I plug in head phones earphones are fine but videos on youtube will freeze but once even after resetting it was locking and unlocking so wiped data ?
My phone is samsung J4 and as soon as i unlocked it, it turns off and locks again. This has been going again and again for quite a while and Im confused because i dont usually play games like the other cases mentioned here. Please reply if u know a solution or atleast think of it as a solution.
Screen goes black and doesn't turn on when booting. Tried software repair with Xperia Companion but still the same problem. Phone is working even with black screen because it can still receive calls but no display so you can't answer calls. Tried restarting/power off. After the sony logo and xperia it goes black when android os starts. Tried searching this forum for same condition and I think there is none so I posted this concern of mine. Please help.
Were you on stock rom? Last official Pie?
i have the same problem. I can confirm that the screen itself is working as it can display logos, battery charge animation and a few moments of booted os then it goes blank. Stock ROM, updated to latest version
Maybe try to downgrade to official Oreo and see what's happen could be an idea?
Edit: also reboot in recovery and see if it works fine

Ok, let me add a bit more context. Yesterday i decided to test waterproofness of this phone.. I know, i'm genius. So, i put it in washbasin and flooded with a 15cm of water... Yeah, just like that. It worked fine under water, sim tray was closed. After i finished this act of vandalism it seemed to work just fine for a few hours, but at some point screen stopped working. Currently i still can see some water droplets on the inner sides of the cameras, so i'll leave my phone for a few more days to let it completely dry out
