Hey guys n girls.
I've been experiencing a copy n paste bug on my device. It seems to have appeared after downloading an update of sorts after the main ICS update. I am running everything official. I am on 4.0.4 which is ICS I believe.
Has anyone else experienced such a problem and have you solved it?

Basically the process of copying/cutting text is fine. When I go to paste only a clipboard button appears. When I click the clipboard button nothing happens. It is extremely annoying

Ive searched the forums n it doesnt seem to be a common bug. My phone is 100% official. It has been a while back and i unrooted it so i could do the official ICS update. I wiped the cache and delvik cache and reset everything. This is the only problem i have. That and sometimes i get thin black lines on my screen everynow n then but they seem to disappear after locking the phone.

Sorry this particular issue is pretty unknown and most likely an issue with your particular firmware or maybe of the app you used, if the copy/paste bug appears in other apps also, then it's definitely a firmware problem, I myself have used ics stock and didn't have the mentioned problem as so do several others, I recommend you download an official firmware of your region and carrier(if any) and flash it via Odin, you don't need to worry about warranty as flashing stock won't trigger the flash counter, i recommend you follow a guide if confused as there are several available, or try custom firmwares to your tastes.

Its upto you to decide, if you have warranty, installing the same firmware is recommended, because most probably the problem will be with your installation on the device, not on your regional version of the firmware, but if it happens again then it's a problem with the regional version. So if after flashing your regional version you have the problem repeating, installing an unbranded stock of other regions like UK or Australia or India will solve your problem.
Have you checked for eMMc superbrick bug for your phone, if you have an insane or unsafe chip, don't flash stock ICS 4.0.4 because it's stock kernel contains the code for eMMc Cap erase command which will brick your phone on any type of wipe, reset, erase command and after a flash you will usually have to perform a factory reset to avoid a boot loop. You will have to use a lower version like stock 4.0.3 or gingerbread. I repeat don't perform a factory reset until you check your phone for brick bug (there's an app available in play store).

There is no warrenty on the device so im not worried about it tbh. I've checked the chip using the "eMMc check" app on the app store and i have an insane chip. So the option is to flash 4.0.3 or earlier? Also would I have to factory reset / wipe data before flashing the old firmware?

Hi all
I decided to flash ics 4.0.3 leaked rom to my SGS2. It caused all sorts of problems such as apps not working, wifi issues, apps dissapearing from home screens, random lock ups and crashes.
So i decided i would flash back to a stock 2.3.4 rom and this is were problems started. I just get stuck in boot loops. Ive flashed on generic xeu roms that are for the uk with no luck. My phone came un branded when i bought it.
Ive tried older roms too all causing me the same problems. Im getting me roms from here and flashing using odin. It flashes fine but when i come to rebooting it just starts rebooting over and over.
Is there any reason for this? Is there a tried and tested uk rom i should be using?
If i flash the 4.0.3 rom it works everytime.
It sure sounds like your phone needs a factory reset.
Back up your current ROM with cw recovery and try it out.

Just flash it again and don't flash another kernel. Use the one which came with the rom.

You're wrong. Stock kernel causes problems in lekaed software (LQ5, LPM) and also brings eMMC hardbrick bug.
Get back to 4.0.3 and wait for official 4.0.4.

You're right and wrong. You're right that it causes brick bug and you're wrong because in stock kernel, camera, video etc works perfectly. If you flash the current custom kernels now it causes the blank camera, videos won't show etc.

I got the same problem here. but I update from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 via samsung kies officially. So, how am I going to downgrade it back to 4.0.3? please advice. I have tried wipe data/factory reset.
You have to re-install 4.0.3 there is no other option available, download Android 4.0.3 from http://samsung-updates.com/ and install it freshly. I did the same to get 4.0.3 back on my smartphone.
On the 4.0.4 flash latest siyah kernel

The official ROM solve my previous problem but bring out another problem which is the phone itself is having crash and keep on not responding for the system. Anyway, I solve this by flashing another custom ROM named wann.. thanks for the help as before this I can't even have the cwm..
Went back to 4.0.3 stock rom and phone did an auto software update to stock 4.0.4 rom UK branded 27/07/2012 firmware.
ecmm brick bug app shows - no.sane chip and chainfire's got a brick app shows - unknown but not one of the reported chips with bug.
I am crapping it as have had a brick with leaked lpq5 firmware.
All I want to do is use the temporary cwm method to flash superuser and install titanium backup and all my apps.
Can anyone advise if what I suggest will be safe?

If you want to root your device using temporary cwm etc check here
If you want to mess with your phone and will probably be wiping your device, flashing ROM etc, I will advice you to flash a custom kernel first e.g Siyah, Speedmod, N.E.A.K etc
If you fail to follow this advise, you might end up with a hard-bricked device
I have upgraded my phone to the unofficial jelly bean release which changed my startup screen to show GT-I9300 rather than GT-I9300T.
I have now downgraded back to the official Vodafone AU ICS 4.0.4 ICS firmware but the startup screen is still showing GT-I9300.

I also have the i9300T and have flashed numerous custom and stock i9300 firmwares (cwm only). When the phone boots it still shows as i9300T before the boot animation kicks in, but in settings / about device it shows as an i9300.
Initially I found it odd because on my previous S2 model T it changed to i9100 when I flashed international firmware on it.

I used ODIN 3.07 to Flash the firmware via the PDA field.
I always do a backup of my data to my External SD Card and then do a factory format via CWM and clear cache before installing firmware.
The firmware file i used is from samfirmware: I9300TDUALF2_VAUALF2_Australia_Vodafone_Android_4.0.4.zip.
Don't you get your root back when you flash original firmware to the phone?
I have a feeling because I used JB 4.1.1 International it changed the boot screen?
Is there a manual way to change it back using the params file?
No you dont get root you will have to root again. Go into settings backup and reset then do a factory reset. I think that will erase internal sdcard tho.

I've tried searching for the params file but dont seem to find much info on it. I've also watched if the file is flashed when using in odin but I cannot see it like I have in previously when flashing my SG1.
I have completed factory reset using the option under security and via CWM.

Were you able to solve the problem? Was just wondering what you did for the boot-up to show I9300 instead of I9300T. I have flashed dozens of ROM, official and AOSP, but mine always showed I9300T. I have the I9300T and I want it to show I9300 instead. Your problem is what I want. LOL. How ironic.
Hi. I have rooted my S3, to see how it works with PS3 joystick (i am not too impressed)
I have rooted successfully via odin flash guide, but now i get strange problem.
Every now and then, when i want to turn on dispay, it works and show me that clock and then when i swipe to unluck, the phone doesnt respond.
When i power again, display dimms, and nothing happen. I cant unlock my phone, I need to hold power button to reboot, and than it is normal till i lock the screen and want to turn it on again.
My question is, how can i solve it, and if i can't, how can i get everything back to stock and normal?
Try turn off ripple effect in setting, see how it goes.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
First of all, try disabling lockscreen entirely.
Then try performing a full wipe. If nothing changes, flash stock firmware via Odin. If this haven't helped, root your phone, reset bootloader flashing counter via TriangleAway, then flash full stock firmware and make a warranty claim.

I forgot one big thing!
!!!! When i first flashed PDA, i flashed it with something CF, not insecure kernel (MY FAULT). Then i got this problem but i can say that i couldnt use my phone. Only just after reboot. Then i flashed insecure kernel, al now problem is still here but it is not so often, but i must fix this.
So maybe the problem is because i flashed wrong file, so "bad" files are still here?
Is there an easy fix for this?
