Screen Care? - HTC One X+

I recently upgraded to the HOX+ from a Captivate.
My captivate never got scratches on the screen for the two years I had it and yet, already a week with the HOX+,I see surface scratches popping up all over the place.
Is this normal? I always keep my phone in an isolated pocket away from my wallet and keys but it keeps happening. I thought this had gorilla glass.

This is normal for gorilla glass 2 it just sucks scratches easily and cracks easily, look up just like glass screen protectors from dba

Does the dba screen protector cover the tapered edge as well (like the skinomi film) or does it just cover the screen?

It's scratch resistant, not scratch proof unfortunately.
Any substance harder than the glass itself will scratch it.

Anyone scratch their screen yet?

Well I have. Don't know how but I have a quarter inch hairline scratch in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Just enough to piss me off.
My buddy made a good point, thought gorilla glass was scratch proof?

Gorilla glass is scratch "resistant" not scratch proof. Sand seems to scratch gorilla glass easily.

That's what I said. Haven't been around any sand and I'm pretty picky about what goes in my pockets. Phone is always by itself. Oh well, just ranting/venting. Lol. Anyone know of a good way to reduce a scratches visibility without a screen protector?

Just the back cover. Starts from headphone jack and goes about 3 inches dianglely. It's weird thought. It's compact at headphone jack and spreads apart to the end. Four scratches. Not sure how that happened. My screen protector is all scratched up. Def won't by these screen protectors again. Got at sprint. Don't remember the name but white package of 3. Advise don't get. Easily scratched

Well I was going to let my device be "naked" for a couple of days but now I guess I'll just order my screen protector :/
Screen protector and a few different cases on the way, until then I'm carrying this thing around like it's fine china, wrapped in a cleaning cloth whenever it's in my purse. lol
Unfortunately I just can't bring myself to use a screen protector. Never have. I did buy a case this time around. Gonna try again cause I don't like those either.

Use Zagg HD from bestbuy, it feels almost like glass to the touch.
Or try out SGP ultra clear protectors...also have the close to glass feel! You can't tell there's a screen protector, but your screen is definitely being protected! Great investment
Just got my SGP Ultra Clear Nano screen protectors in today, couldn't be happier with them.

Me either. Don't like protectors or cases. Had Gorilla glass on the S1&2 and didn't scratch them so I think I'll keep that tradition alive. Just stays by itself in the pocket. But with the gloss plastic on the S3, I opted for a Cruiserlite case.

Screen Scuff/Scratches

This is my first Gorilla Glass II device, I was using the S2 for over a year and while I did scratch it by dropping it on concrete a few times it didn't have microscratches as easilily as the HOX+
Anyone else find GGII scratches easier than I?
Is there a good screen protector that isn't 'grippy' ?
I noticed a small scratch on my screen. But i don't think its the screen thats scratched. I think its the coating HTC put on the screen.

AndroHero is probably right, its a scratch in the coating of your screen.
I found a product that reapplies your coating, thus remove the scratches.
I'm definitely going to try it out.

Screen Guard for HOX+

My apologies if this has already been asked.. is a screen guard necessary for the hox+ or is gorilla glass tolerant enough? I never touch the screen with my nails n I don't keep any other stuff in the same pocket where I keep the phone..

Some users have reported minor, tiny scratches, but I believe that was just coating over the Gorilla, could be specks of sand... I use Zagg HD on mine ...
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
The screen is pretty resilient and should hold up unless you do garden work and such, if you experience scratches of imperfections you can recoat the glass with a liquid shield.
So then the glass itself doesn't get scratched,it's only the coating above it that's susceptible to damage?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Yes man, I totally recommend you to put screen protector... Me thinking naively that I don't need a SP got lots of minor coating chips... It is almost invisible but when you rub your finger on the screen, you will see it.. Real scratches? None.

Tiny scratches on mine but they are invisable when the screen is on. Still I've ordered a Zagg InvisableShield!

Lightweight and easy to remove when I need to get to my phone...

Use of a screen protector?

Ok so I was wondering if anyone DOES NOT use a screen protector...I want to part with my screen protector except for beach trips and what not. Can the gorilla glass accomplish this. I know how easily quartz can scratch anything but the screen is so beautiful
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I don't use a screen protector, There are a number of microscopic scratches on the surface of the screen. I can't photograph them with a camera because I don't have one, but yeah they are there. You can only see them when the screen is angled perfectly in the light. The scratches don't bother me because I honestly can't see them unless I look very hard. They are there. I treat my phone well. Have never dropped it or rubbed it against a surface that will scratch it. This wear and tear is just from the microscopic sand in my pocket.
Don't use one as well. I still haven't got any scratches on the screen so.. Only thing you have to make sure is that you really don't "accidentally" put your keys in the same pocket. Normally it should last very long without any damages
AW: Use of a screen protector?
Same thing here. I do use my device for 3 months now without a screen protector. I also do have some tiny scratches on my screen that can only be seen in the right light and angle so I honestly don't give a f**k

Zagg HD
I have a Zagg HD screen protector for mine, and you can only tell its ont here around the edges and with the screen off. When the screen is on it pretty much disappears except for the edge that shows under the earpiece. Very happy with it, as there have been gouges in the protector that could have been my screen. Interestingly enough thee gouges have disappeared over time and only last a day or two on the protector before it looks almost new again.
I never use screen protectors or cases. At that same time I'm always careful with my devices

+1 for this. Haven't used a screen protector but the gorilla glass is really holding it's own. My pocket is the only protection my phone gets. Even with my keys accidentally going into the same pocket I still haven't had any problems.
I use a Seidio Active case, but no screen protector. I tried one, but it didn't fit right due to the way the glass is beveled at the edges. I keep it in my pocket and it still looks great.
No screen protector here either, I picked up a snap-on case/holster combo on Flea-bay with a screen protector. Took that sucker off about 10 minutes after it went on. Haven't used one in general for a while even back when I had my iPhone 4, got tired of fighting loose corners and air bubbles.

I scratched 2 HOX+s pretty easily. I actually smashed the screen in an unrelated incident and will be using screen protectors from now on!

[Q] Does the phone need a screen protector?

I'm going to upgrade to this phone from my Galaxy S3 which never really needed a screen protector. Does the z2 need one or is the glass scratch proof like gorilla glass?
Thanks,
Ash

The Z2 use3s Dragontail glass which is very strong, but slightly less scratch resistent than Gorilla glass,
However I think it's personal preference as to whether you use a screen protector or not..
I personally always use a screen protector just in case & have never had any problems doing so...
It came with one so I put it on there and its actually pretty ok.
Never had one on any of my phones before but this one has a nice matte finish to it. As the whole front it glass is worth it imo
Does the z2 have a shatter proof film? If so they scratch very easily and would need a protector but as pointed out since implementing spf's sony has been giving protectors in the box's of most handsets.

The glass of Z1 is scratch proof. But there will be some scratches after long time using.
So if you can't bear any tiny scratches , you'd better use a screen protector.
I feel a protector is always nice

How does it compare against the iphone 5s? I never needed a screen protector for mine.
Mine only came with a screen protector for the front in the box which I applied straight away, but I had to wait 3 days for a protector for the back to arrive, in that time its got several ugly scratches on the back glass.
I'm rather disappointed to be honest as it's not been abused, its been in the same pocket I kept my z1 in for 6 months without a mark to the screen protector. I was hoping Sony had put one of the easily scratched shatter proof films on the back, but sadly it seems there isn't a pre applied film and the glass scratches very easily.
Now I have a 3 day old Z2 which looks older than my 6 month old Z1

I probably overpaid for my Nillkin 9H explosion proof tempered glass screen protector it feels every bit as good as the glass screen underneath. Plus it doesn't matt the screen colours down like the protector that comes with the phone.

I am thinking the regular screen protectors are difficult to stick and may not be waterproof, which kind defeats the purpose of having a waterproof phone!
