Screen Guard for HOX+ - HTC One X+

My apologies if this has already been asked.. is a screen guard necessary for the hox+ or is gorilla glass tolerant enough? I never touch the screen with my nails n I don't keep any other stuff in the same pocket where I keep the phone..

Some users have reported minor, tiny scratches, but I believe that was just coating over the Gorilla, could be specks of sand... I use Zagg HD on mine ...

The screen is pretty resilient and should hold up unless you do garden work and such, if you experience scratches of imperfections you can recoat the glass with a liquid shield.

So then the glass itself doesn't get scratched,it's only the coating above it that's susceptible to damage?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app

Yes man, I totally recommend you to put screen protector... Me thinking naively that I don't need a SP got lots of minor coating chips... It is almost invisible but when you rub your finger on the screen, you will see it.. Real scratches? None.

Cool.. I'll buy one tomorrow.. thanks for the advice ppl

Tiny scratches on mine but they are invisable when the screen is on. Still I've ordered a Zagg InvisableShield!

I bought a nice neoprene jacket for my HOX+...
Lightweight and easy to remove when I need to get to my phone...

Screen Care?

I recently upgraded to the HOX+ from a Captivate.
My captivate never got scratches on the screen for the two years I had it and yet, already a week with the HOX+,I see surface scratches popping up all over the place.
Is this normal? I always keep my phone in an isolated pocket away from my wallet and keys but it keeps happening. I thought this had gorilla glass.

This is normal for gorilla glass 2 it just sucks scratches easily and cracks easily, look up just like glass screen protectors from dba

Does the dba screen protector cover the tapered edge as well (like the skinomi film) or does it just cover the screen?

It's scratch resistant, not scratch proof unfortunately.
Any substance harder than the glass itself will scratch it.

HTC one x+ body damage

Ok guys I have my first case of body damage. The nice rubbery coating on the body has seemed to "chip off" in some spots, they are very small but that's how it starts lol one spot is on my speaker grill I now have a white spot there where I'm guessing a small piece of something sharp dug into the coating. Also on the side right above the volume rocker it also chipped and it was almost like something worked it way under coating and lifted it in a tiny spot so I had to scratch it off cuz I'm so anal lol just thought I'd let y'all know..I had a tpu case on it when both happened so I'm gonna say that something got into the case and did this damage.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Can you post a picture of it?
Will do as soon as I have a sec. Been running around like crazy today..
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
It isn't super noticable unless it's UR phone lol!
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
O and that little streak just above the speaker grill IS also one that will not come off..lol
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
So was your tpu case pretty loose, that you think something got inside? What have you tried to get rid of that streak?
Tpu case is pretty tight but not so tight that something couldn't get in especially with me being outdoors all the time and getting dirty and dusty lol but as far as the streak I realy haven't tried much other than a barly damp cloth and my finger lol not super worried about it just wanted to let everyone know I'll probly end up buying a new body when they come out with it on etradesupply.com they already have int. Version bit it doesn't have lte radio antenna sadly cuz I would love to have the red accents!!
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
About the body, was it you back in One X forums, who modded two different body pieces together?
Sure was
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Black and white buttons lol its still rockin a white body with black buttons my girl is using it atm which reminds me I need to update her viper rom lol!
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
I didn't go into details, but was the whole body switching process too complex? Time wise and all alignments and cutouts matched?
Na all it took for me was one guitar pic. But I think most people recomend two or three all u do is wedge it in between the plastic body and the rest of the phone if u look at the sode of phone where the edge dips down is good place to start

Use of a screen protector?

Ok so I was wondering if anyone DOES NOT use a screen protector...I want to part with my screen protector except for beach trips and what not. Can the gorilla glass accomplish this. I know how easily quartz can scratch anything but the screen is so beautiful
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I don't use a screen protector, There are a number of microscopic scratches on the surface of the screen. I can't photograph them with a camera because I don't have one, but yeah they are there. You can only see them when the screen is angled perfectly in the light. The scratches don't bother me because I honestly can't see them unless I look very hard. They are there. I treat my phone well. Have never dropped it or rubbed it against a surface that will scratch it. This wear and tear is just from the microscopic sand in my pocket.
Don't use one as well. I still haven't got any scratches on the screen so.. Only thing you have to make sure is that you really don't "accidentally" put your keys in the same pocket. Normally it should last very long without any damages
AW: Use of a screen protector?
Same thing here. I do use my device for 3 months now without a screen protector. I also do have some tiny scratches on my screen that can only be seen in the right light and angle so I honestly don't give a f**k

Zagg HD
I have a Zagg HD screen protector for mine, and you can only tell its ont here around the edges and with the screen off. When the screen is on it pretty much disappears except for the edge that shows under the earpiece. Very happy with it, as there have been gouges in the protector that could have been my screen. Interestingly enough thee gouges have disappeared over time and only last a day or two on the protector before it looks almost new again.
I never use screen protectors or cases. At that same time I'm always careful with my devices

+1 for this. Haven't used a screen protector but the gorilla glass is really holding it's own. My pocket is the only protection my phone gets. Even with my keys accidentally going into the same pocket I still haven't had any problems.
I use a Seidio Active case, but no screen protector. I tried one, but it didn't fit right due to the way the glass is beveled at the edges. I keep it in my pocket and it still looks great.
No screen protector here either, I picked up a snap-on case/holster combo on Flea-bay with a screen protector. Took that sucker off about 10 minutes after it went on. Haven't used one in general for a while even back when I had my iPhone 4, got tired of fighting loose corners and air bubbles.

I scratched 2 HOX+s pretty easily. I actually smashed the screen in an unrelated incident and will be using screen protectors from now on!

My One doesnt play nice with screen protector

I was having some skip issues. I had a screen protector since day 1. I was going to return the unit. Low and behold I take the pos protector off and the home and back buttons work great. No more missed touches so far.
To someone out there this might be helpful.
Meh probably not.

I'm using one too and noticed the buttons hardly respond. Before it would work perfectly.
I rather press them a few times than having to worry about a scratch on my screen though - A sacrifice I'd be willing to live with.
Hmm, now that you mention it... My capacitive buttons didn't start acting unresponsive until I placed my screen protector. Back is the biggest culprit with it sometimes ignoring any amount of presses under any amount of pressure.

I wonder what the technical issue is here because I've never had a phone bothered by a screen protector. (And it's only the capacitive buttons at that.) It's really been testing my patience today.

Agreed. Same here. Now that I took it off the capacitive buttons are good again. One thing is clear, no screen protectors!! They mess up the capacitive buttons!!

I had the same issue with my EVO back in the day. Never figured it out.

Or just buy a screen protector that only covers the screen, not including the capacitive butttons...
I personally need to buy a screen protector just bought my case today and thought about the screen protector but it is crazy expensive at the tmobile store... 25 dollars for a screen protector naaaaaah
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem.....
I really don't like the idea of not having a screen protector, nor not covering the bottom portion where the capacitive buttons are.
However I've been wondering...
How about if we punch holes where the capacative buttons are......
My guess is it would probably work with a high end hole punches which is extremely sharp and wont bend the protector while punching..
Any thoughts?

I haven't used a screen protector since I had my EVO... I just get a decent case, Gorilla Glass is pretty hard to scratch up. I don't like the tactile loss when you use screen protectors at all.

Tell that to my Galaxy S3 that not only scratched but also broke from a fall of less than 6 inches. My faith in Gorilla Glass has been shattered.

Gorilla Glass wasn't meant to hold an impact of a fall regardless of it being from only 6 inches. It was meant to absorb getting hairline scratches from everyday use.
I'm sure you seen YouTube videos already on this.

I've had plenty of Gorilla Glass phones scratch despite the fact that I baby all my phones. I don't buy into the hype and you shouldn't either. Gorilla Glass is a name and a marketing scheme.

This issue was fixed already in the most recent software update for the global model. We just need to wait for T-Mobile to push the update out to us.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I'm wondering if it's also worth calling T-Mobile about this or if they (and HTC) are aware of it being present on our models.

I have no idea who makes it for them but this is my third device with that screen protector and I've always loved the glassy finish and how smooth and easy it goes on.
