Something very wrong with latest recovery/bootloader/phone - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So earlier today I tried flashing the latest nightly of CM10 (12/3) onto my phone using FlashImageGUI, and, for some reason, instead of booting into the recovery which I tried through the power menu, it wouldn't go into recovery and just kept going into my boot loader, so I decided to reboot and was back into the phone. Now I'm trying to turn it off so I can go to bed and it just keep rebooting into the boot loader. I believe I'm TWRP 2.2.2.0 and I'm S-ON
Anyone have a solution to this? Also I'd just like to figure out why this won't flash through FlashImageGUI

I would just fastboot flash twrp 2.3.1.0 IMG
Do a full wipe. And start over with cm Maybe redownload it also
Check out dirtyracoon and get the evo soff. Its very easy to run soff means no fastboot or flash image GUI for kernels

Well I had it on TWRP 2.3.0.1 and it was always doing the same thing so it may be the ROM, unless this phone is getting messed up

[Q] Recovery issues in CDMA Hboot 1.5?

Hey guys I was just wondering if everyone else is having this issue or if i did something wrong on my rooting procedure?
I have a sensation but i was rooting my friend's 3d and i noticed it was different for the whole 1.5 Hboot thing. I was following a 1.4 guide for a GSM phone and noticed it wasnt working so then after noticing about the whole 1.5 hboot thing i tried the other method and it worked.
The problem is that when i go into recovery (power + Vol down at startup) i get the menu just fine i can go into fastboot or recovery. If i select recovery the phone will just reboot and boot up the ROM instead of going into recovery. Instead, i will have to use ADB to push the phone into recovery and push CWM into it.
With my sensation its just installed and i dont have to go through all of that again, what im trying to ask is if this is normal for Hboot 1.5 users to have to ADB push CWM everytime they want to access it cause im sure this can get a little annoying since i like to flash different roms and kernels constantly to test. having issues with MIUI ringtones.
No. just uncheck fastboot in menu/settings/power
You can flash roms like that if they use a stock kernel but if it has a custom kernel, it won't take. If you access recovery from adb/fastboot then you don't have to worry about that.

So if I disable fastboot then when I boot into recovery it won't restart the phone and it will actually go into CWMrecovery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
What's happening is that I installed cwm recovery through adb and I can access it but I have to go through all the trouble of Pushing it through adb where as on my sensation in just installed it once and I can boot into recovery and from the menu is just select it without having to push it through adb everytime I want to access cwm which is what is happening on my 3d.

Can't boot into recovery, device just resets

I just got a used, white HTC EVO 3D off of eBay, and it already been rooted and flashed with a custom ROM (no s-off though, as its hboot 1.5).
I flashed clockworkmod using the fastboot method, but it never goes into recovery. The Rom boots fine, its just when it goes into recovery, I get the white HTC screen, and then it reboots and goes into android. I've turned off fast boot in the settings, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

If you pull the battery and put it back, then go to hboot and select recovery and it doesn't go to recovery, then your recovery is corrupt or something, no biggie. Get flash image GUI and flash a recovery with it, or flash cwm with rom manager.
I used to have issues with certain recoveries when I had s-on, I think cwm version 4.0.1.4 was the one that worked for me.
Have you tried 4ext recovery? Link is in my Sig.
Well I have ROM manager and tried cwm 4.1.0.15 and got the same results.
Would 4ext work with any of the ics roms for the HTC EVO 3d?

Yes it will. I use 4ext and am running ZREDX ICS.
Alright, that worked. Thanks for the help!

HELP! with flashing and twrp

When i am in twrp the touch screen doesnt work. So i try to flash using the bootloader with pj75img and after it it loads then reboots the phone nothing is happening. can anyone help?
NOTE TO ALL USERS: WHEN POSTING QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY YOUR DEVICE IS ACTING UP DUE TO A CERTAIN ROM, RECOVERY, ETC... YOU WILL NEED TO POST INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DEVICE. THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN JUST GIVE YOU AN ANSWER WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT YOU HAVE. EXAMPLE: HBOOT, BASEBAND, ROOT, S-ON/S-OFF, ROM, ETC...

With the limited amount of information you provided I have to assume you are on the latest firmware with the latest touchpanel and are flashing a version of TWRP that doesn't support that particular touchpanel. You will need to flash a later version of TWRP (2.4.4.0+) in order to use the touchscreen with the latest touchpanel firmware. In most cases: when first flashing TWRP and booting into the recovery the phone will reboot the system and you will then need to get into the bootloader and maneuver to the recovery again.
I have twrp 2.2.0, and and a basband form when i first got the phone which was last September, and have not done an update since then. Being a newb and not paying attention i installed the newest hatk rom and after that it flashed that one rom but every zip after that after flashing didnt do anything and now my touchscreen does not work when i am in recovey. So all i can think of is to bootload flash back but nothing works. it will flash after the phone reboots nothing has changed. Where do i go from here?
If this helps at all.

Try flashing TWRP 2.4. or newer and see if that fixes the problem.

Did you install the latest firmware and touch? Maybe that's the problem.
If you don't want to mess with that, you could install cwm. Works with the volume keys and power button. If the touchscreen works with the ROM but not recovery, try a newer recovery (latest twrp, maybe?).

When I go to flash with the bootlader. It will load but no changes after I reboot.

And yes I have tried to flash the new twrp. I'm just stuck with no touch screen in recovery. And buttons don't work either. Is there another way I can flash other than using the bootlader.?

Need to use fastboot, images, or FlashGUI. Try TWRP 2.3. If you have no touch input with any recovery or ROM then you're going to need a new phone.

2.3.3.0+ I thought. Otherwise 2.4+. Can't remember for sure but I used 2.4.4.0 when I got my replacement with all of the updates. I'm thinking I'm mixing those version numbers up a bit. Lol.

Haha I see I typo'd and wrote ouch panel. Lol. Ouch panel is more appropriate dealing with 3.16

Boot Loop on all roms Virgin Mobile H-boot 1.58

Hello,
I am stuck in a constant boot loop with every rom I flash. I am able to get into the stock restore menu (volume down + power) and from there boot into TWRP 1.1.1. Flashing JmzStock_VM_Shooter_Odex doesn't work as well as any custom roms. Also, RUU doesnt work either, it gets stuck on the HTC logo (silver with blackground) but the RUU fails. It just says unknown error.
It is Unlocked (or at least thats what it says in pink in ShooterXC) and is says S-ON.
Any help would be so lovely!!
You won't be able to run the ruu unless you get s off.
Are you wiping system and boot before you flash?
You may want to try flashing a boot img through fastboot
Sent from my Evo V 4G using xda app-developers app
Flashing the boot.img from your currently installed ROM fixes 90% of bootloops. It is definitely the way to fix.

Is there a different way to get S-Off without booting into the OS? I've only seen the wire trick work when they have USB debugging on.

How would I flash it, through recovery and "install" it or using fastboot?

HTC One S soft problem (Phone's probobly bricked)

I've been trying to install Maximus HD 10. I've turn s-off, but now I'm not sure the s turned off. As you can see on the photo, s is now on - not sure why
Every time I'm installing the soft, the device - after done it - is rebooting, and then turning off. I've done it with Maximus and CWM, and it changes nothing.
Phone is unlocked and tempered

so the phone is unlocked and tampered, that means you can write a recovery image
so download twrp or cwm for your device
boot to hboot and open cmd prompt on your computer and do:
fastboot flash recovery (recovery).img
for (recovery) put in whatever the file name is for the .img you download
once that is flashed, boot into recovery and flash the rom you want to use.
if the rom isn't a stock rom then open it's zip and pull out the boot.img and put it in the folder where you did the recovery.img
then go back to hboot and open cmd prompt again and do:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
that should allow your phone to boot if nothing else.
all else fails find an RUU for your device and use it to restore the factory software
But the phone is S-ON and i can't do S-OFF. I try to do it on the HTCdev but it's not working

Right HTC dev doesn't s-off it only puts you in the unlocked s-on state, that's why to get software or anything on it you have to do what I suggested

thoughtlesskyle, just wanted to say thanks. Thought I'd bricked my phone. I too 'assumed' the HTC Dev option S-Off'd my phone. Followed your instructions and got my phone to boot into cyanogen 9.1. Now, I assume if I do a restart everything will reboot as normal?
It will boot back to cm but yes it will reboot no problem, if you update the rom you might need to reflash the boot.img depending if there was a kernel change, but otherwise you are good

Also glad I could help, I had an evo 3D that was the same way, luckily they fixed it for the One

So will MaxiumsHD work for those of us that are still S-On, if we use something like FlashImageGUI to flash the boot.img?
Yes, flash image gui does the same as doing the fastboot flash
