Hi,
I have 9100G and has tried triangle away to see if that works however it does not recognize the 9100G device.
So wanted to know if there is any other way to reset the flash counter for 9100G?
Thanks

Triangle away works on ICS and up. You can try using a USB jig too.

I have custom JB ROM installed on my phone. Tried to run triangle away but it says "device not recognised".

I guess it is your phone's model. Try flashing another kernel or use a Usb jig. A usb jig should do the trick if others dont work.

One more request plz.. may i have the link for usb jig..
Thanks

You have to order a usb jig from eBay. Or make one yourself. There are countless videos on how to make them. And they cost less than $5. Good luck

I received my jig from mobiletechvideos.com today. It worked as advertised. It reset the triangle, as well reset the custom binary download count to No, and reset current binary to "Samsung Official" even though I am running entropy512's 10092011 kernel.
Here is a link to a video, mine works just like the video

Has anyone tested a usb jig with the att gs2 yet?
It should work the same as with the i9100 version, but I was just wondering if anyone who has the phone that might have a jig and tested it yet.
I just tested my jig (I am rooted and had the triangle on my att version) and my count now says NO and the yellow triangle is gone.
Thanks, I wanted to just make sure before I bought our made one.

If I recall correctly, there are a few different possible resistor values for jigs? Which one is yours?
Now that I have a device with the bootloader counter, I need to get some resistors and finally open that package of MicroUSB breakouts from Sparkfun.
I'm considering buying the SGS II in the next week, what exactly does the Jig do? I didn't see much in terms of why you would need this for rooting so I figured I would inquire.
It will put your phone into download mode as long a your bootloaders are not corrupted (which can be done by other methods also), but more importantly it resets the binary flash counter to zero and removes the yellow triangle from the boot splash screen if you have a custom modified kernel or ROM flashed to your sgs2 phone.
All in all not a necessary device, but very useful to those who flash and modify their phone

So if I am not mistaken it's just a way to prevent AT&T Support from visually seeing you have at somepoint flashed a different kernel and theoretically voided the warranty.

That or just get rid of the yellow triangle if it annoys you.

Oh that wouldn't bother me in the least considering how rarely I reboot my device. Thanks, I appreciate the help. I anticipate that the community will have roms churned out left and right for this device based off the ease of hacking and the number of ROMs that were available for the Captivate.

my captivate jig worked on the S II
I think we will see a few people with old jigs that do work and old jigs that don't and it will be because slightly off the mark resistance. I bet those whose old jig that does not work will just need to tweak their jig by an ohm or two.
By the way I ordered a jig from mobiletechvideos.com yesterday and I will report back on if it works when I get it here.

Do you recall how many ohms your jig is and what wattage? I built mine with 301 ohms @1/4 Watts. Would unbrick Captivate to DL mode, but not soft-bricked Infuse. It would put working Infuse into DL mode though?????
an INFUSION of REALITY
First off my apologies if this question has already been asked but i wanted to purchase a USB jig in order to reset my flash counter.
I was wondering would any if these work? I read something about it would work but depending in what bootloader was used. (or something along those lines)
Can anyone shed some insight to this before i spend money on something that will not work.
Thank you in advance

IIRC, Da_G confirmed that jig won't reset flash counter on AT&T Note. Not supprising, almost all 2.3.6 stock ROMs (on SGS2) contain bootloader that won't let you reset flash counter via a jig.
That's good to know. I guess theoretically if we had an older Rom running 2.3.5 it would work. Ah well $5.00 saved.

Hi..
Which is the best option to root SGS2...? cfroot...or super one click...?.. What is the difference between these two...?...please help...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Cfroot. There's not much difference, other than Cfroot is a Kernel that's being flashed, not a program to exploit your phone. Cfroot is a much simpler process.

I found this video quite simple to follow; youtube.com/watch?v=6BkcEc-t-QQ&feature=player_embedded
agreed cfroot has done me very well
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Just use cfroot. As of now it's the best option out there.

Agreed with all above, always use CF Kernel all the way, no mess, no fuss! Job done in seconds. Plus you also get a free pretty warning triangle at boot up!
CFRoot was as simple as 30 second, literally 3 clicks. You keep your settings and that lovely little triangle is just beautiful to behold

if you are planning on using ics you can get rid of the triangle with "triangle away" works like a charm ^_^

Do you just turn off, remove battery for a few seconds, reinsert, insert jig and boot into download mode and it's gone as if by magic?

This worked for me using my SainSmart Jig from Amazon:-
1) Power Off Using menu option.
2) Wait 10-15 seconds, inserted Jig.
3) Phone auto powered on and went into Download mode, displaying "Erasing Download Information Succeeded"
4) Power Off.
5) Remove Jig
Phone Powered On without any Yellow Triangle.
.... just like magic
There's lots of reports that the jig won't work (I'm one of them)on ICS with the new bootloader. But others have success with it. Triangle Away at present is the only way to remove it efficiently and quickly. You can get it free here on XDA. Just make sure you still thank Chainfire for his hard work in some way.

If the jig won't work with ICS, simply flash the old bootloader. Easy fixed.

Powered off the phone, inserted jig, phone atumatically boots into download mode then gives a succeed message, remive jig and reboot.

Hi guys,
I am new to the forums, and want to root my galaxy s II so i can get pure ics running on my mobile. I noticed that everyone has said cf-root is the best to go with, after looking online I believe i found a good tutorial:
jayceooi.com/2011/08/04/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s2-with-cf-root-video
If a senior member could confirm this, that would be great.
Thanks
Confirmed, that's a nice and clear tutorial. Can't go wrong with that one.

Thanks, btw you wouldnt happen to know any particular tutorials for an ics rom , that are relatively easy to follow?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 You can find the ICS roms just above the post titled ++++++ [Frankenstein Firmwares] +++++++
Get you ROM from here and just use the same method but all your doing different is using another file in place of the kernel one.

I received my USB Jig today
and i have the SGSII i9100 but when i plug it in it goes to download mode.
And nothing changes all my things are still the same count and others.
I dont get the green line text like everyone else nor do i get the removal of
yellow triangle.
Does this mean my USB Jig is faulty? It goes into download mode and thats about it.
Using ICS boot loader? If so I don't think you can reset counter with the jig. There's an app on here called Triangle away if that's what you need...

Quick question file comes in .7z do i change that to .tar?
Lol because i can't open file in Odin. unless it's a .tar
You'll need to unzip it. .7z is like a zip file androzip from the market will extract it.
Or 7zip on your PC.

wana pay a lot for it but i guess it's lose lose either way lol.
Haha that's true! I wonder how they work
I'm coming from an Xperia Play and do a lot of flashing. Is a jig necessary? I had Captivate and one time I bricked it so I had to send it in.
Thanks in advance.
Using a jig is not exactly super necessary.. unless you softbrick ur S3. the usb jig serves the same purpose to the S3 as to the captivate.. except the jig canr reset the binary counter of the S3's
I hope this helps

Well I know once I get the S3 I'll be doing a lot of stuff to it and I know I'll softbrick it one day.
All jig helps with is if you lose the three button download mode . Not hearing of many SGS3 users failing to get to download mode .
But at the price it makes sense to have one in hand .
IMEI corrupt + No backed up EFS folder is probably the biggest SGS3 problem mostly new users though .
