Hi
I'll soon be going out for a trip and will be using my phone in International Roaming.
I do not want to turn off the mobile data completely since I wish to use the Google maps and my exchange email, however I want to disable mobile data access for all other applications.
Is there anyway I can achieve this?
Thanks in advance
Settings/data usage......click on individual apps and you will see a check box at the bottom

Hi
Whenever the phone has access to the internet, it is using the net for all kind of traffic, even if auto sync and backgroung data are disabled.
Is there any way to control the data of the phone, so only foregroung processes has access to the internet?
The problem is when traveling to another country where the data price is very high, and you just want to send a small email, without all the other processes are using the internet.
I have not rooted my phone.

Hi,
In my data plan I have only little roaming data included. (10mb per month or so)
Anything over that is WAAAY to expensive.
Now, when going abroad I'd like to be able to use my data connection just for selected applications. Now, when I turn on my data, practically every running app is going to try to connect, check for updates, syncronize,...
Is there any way to just switch on data for, say, the email app?
Thanks!
You'll need to be rooted but there are a firewall app like DroidWall should work. It has separate toggles for wifi vs 3G so you can let everything access data when on wifi and block most apps from 3G:

Droidwall is a good choice. Another alternative is Avast Mobile Security which also has a built-in firewall that will allow you to toggle wifi, 3g and roaming.
Sorry, I forgot to reply. That is exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks!
hi .. is there any app that can disable the background apps, like fb, sync, widgets, that would use internet once i enable the data connection on my android? i dont have an unlimited data package, which is why im concerned about the data charges.
is there any such app that would disable background apps while allowing me to use the app i need to use via data connection?
cheers
PS: im using SE Live with Walkman (if that matters)
If your phone is rooted, you can try droidwall, it can setup in application level to disable mobile data.

Will be going on a trip soon and roaming is expensive so data will be off most of the time.
I'm thinking of using location history to keep a record of the trip route.
Does anyone knows if location history works without internet access?
Will it store the location and sync when theres internet access or flat out don't work at all?
Thanks.
I don't think it'll work while offline. I'm not sure about this, thought. I know that BackitudeGPS Location Tracker does it, so you may want to have that as a backup.
Hello! I have a phone currently that allows me to disallow apps from using mobile data. They function normally when I'm connected to WiFi, but when I'm out and about only a few apps I've specified will continue to update. (Telegram, Hangouts)
Is the LG G5 capable of this kind of setup? This allows me to keep my cell phone bill really low. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
