Ability to restrict mobile data - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hello! I have a phone currently that allows me to disallow apps from using mobile data. They function normally when I'm connected to WiFi, but when I'm out and about only a few apps I've specified will continue to update. (Telegram, Hangouts)
Is the LG G5 capable of this kind of setup? This allows me to keep my cell phone bill really low. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

[Q] Data control

Hi
Whenever the phone has access to the internet, it is using the net for all kind of traffic, even if auto sync and backgroung data are disabled.
Is there any way to control the data of the phone, so only foregroung processes has access to the internet?
The problem is when traveling to another country where the data price is very high, and you just want to send a small email, without all the other processes are using the internet.
I have not rooted my phone.

[Q] How do I stop ALL data usage

I may be one of the few smart phone (HTC Rhodium / ATT Tilt 2) users who have requested to NOT have a data plan. I simply have no need for the service and have a basic call/text plan. I’ve decided to give Android a whirl with my AT&T Touch Pro2. I am having difficulty determining what services/apps/settings to disable to ensure no data usage is expended.
I have been using “Energy” ROMs for almost two years now and have been successful at ensuring no data usage is consumed. I few simple steps to turn off a handful of apps/services and I’m all set. Android, on the other hand, isn’t proving to be as easy….for me.
I have dug through the forums and searched around, but I’ve come up empty. I’ve found a few “nodata” programs, but they seem to all be outdated or for Windows Mobile. I don’t think my situation is very common, hence why I’m posting today.
I have successfully installed and used the latest Froyo build (FRX07.1, dated 01SEP11) found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171052
QUESTION:
How can I stop all data usage while using Android?
ie...
a. stop specific services/apps/programs
b. install a "no data" app
c. any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Best way is using the curvefish 3G/ON/OFF Widget, to quickly choose when to be online and when offline.
Can still use data without 3G though? It will just be slower.
What I do is make an internet profile with blank settings on my phone, set it as default then if it tries to connect it instantly fails.

Click to collapse
This is a good solution by-design, same I used on my old nokia phones
But if you are looking for an app to handle that, try Droidwall (market)
Allows you to restrict which apps can access the network.
This is the perfect solution if you don't have an unlimited data plan, or just wants to see your battery lasting longer.

"Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Data enabled"?
Or you can simply install from market "Apn Droid"

[Q] Per-Application Limit for Mobile Data Usage

Hi
I'll soon be going out for a trip and will be using my phone in International Roaming.
I do not want to turn off the mobile data completely since I wish to use the Google maps and my exchange email, however I want to disable mobile data access for all other applications.
Is there anyway I can achieve this?
Thanks in advance
Settings/data usage......click on individual apps and you will see a check box at the bottom

Using data while on wi-fi?

Hey people!
I will have mobile data for the first time next week, and I would like to know something.
Basically, as far as I know, mobile data is automatically turned off by Android when connected to a wi-fi. Now, my phone is a nexus 4, and since I have limited storage, I use a wi-fi external hard drive, which means I am always connected to wi-fi on the road. Now, if I want to use mobile data while I'm connected to a wi-fi network, is there a way to make it work?
Thanks a lot!
Yup, using DroidWall (free app) you can decide which apps can connect to the WiFi (you can block them all, and only allow specific apps).
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, going to look into that!
Update: Droidwall doesn't work the way I'd like it to. I can indeed block access to wi-fi for certain apps, but my mobile data remains deactivated. Is there a way to use mobile data if I'm connected to a wi-fi on a rooted n4?

[Q] How to block mobile data transfer of a single App

Hallo everyone,
I'm using my Nexus 5 in roaming right now, and I should be carefull with the amount of mobile data transfer. I already blocked almost every background data transfer on various apps, but there's a single app, a game, that makes a lot of foreground data transfer.
How can I block this data transfer from this single app without disconnecting everytime my mobile data transfer?
I hope that I was clear enought to describe my problem, thanks in advance!
up!
Grab a firewall app. I use awfirewall and it works great.
