Slow play store downloads - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My speedtest on my 3G network is 12mbps. However, when I download an App or Additional Files from the play store, I get speeds of 100kb/s which is way below the 12mbps expected download rate (should be more 1-2mb/s). Any idea's why?

I've only just got my phone, it's a Nexus 4. I have installed only a hand-full of apps.

Try removing the sync with google and sign in again after clearing cache and factory reset.
Hope that helps.

It can be easily solved by upgrading ur play store it also happened with me it taked a very long time to download but when I updated to its latest version the problem is solved.
Search Google about latest play store download and install it normally.
HIT THANKS IF HELPED

Ya this is a real issue. Doesn't matter whether wifi or 4g. Some apps (though not consistently) download at normal speeds, others download at around a max of 50kb/s (which is painfully slow when you're paying for 3mb/s). I've never had the problem in all my years on Android, until a few days ago (close to a week into my ownership of Nexus 4). Updating Play Store didn't help. Using different wifi networks doesn't help.
What ROM I'm on and what kernel seems irrelevant, because it wasn't happening, and then without changing anything it started happening, and now after changing lots of things it's still happening. Just now I downloaded FB Messenger just fine, and then FB app is going at 50kb/s.
Feels bad man...

[Q] Google Play stuck "Downloading", help?

So I just flashed viperROM and rooted via the RegawMOD. Whenever I try to download a app from the Google Play store, it just refuses to download. It'll display the "Downloading" dialog and the icon will pop up in the notification bar, but it won't actually download. I've already tried clearing the Play Store's cache and the Download manager's cache. It didn't help. I am connected to the internet. When I tried downloaded the SwiftKey 3 beta off of their website, it worked. Anyone know how to solve this problem?
i rooted with regawMOD too and i locked my bootloader back and unrooted and i am having the same problem.i even ran ruu and still having the same troubles.
Did you try clearing the data in the google app store in addition to the cache? You will have to sign back in I think but that would be the next step. Otherwise I suppose just wait awhile and try again later after a reboot or something.
I had a similar problem and what I had to do was create a new google account then log into the play store with that account and delete my old google account. Once that's set check if you can download an app with your new google account. If you can then you should be able to log in with your old account and solve the problem.

I did try clearing everything. It still wouldn't work.
I noticed this the day I bought the phone.
It's really annoying when I've got app updates. If I click on the batch update button to update multiple apps, it won't complete unless I stay on the update page and keep the phone from going to sleep. Otherwise, the first app will update and the rest will stall on "downloading". This happen pre and post root.
Very annoying.

I am having this for 2 weeks, 2 phone have the same issue. Try to flash different ROM but fail
It must be google, what the heck they are doing!
Really irritating.... I, too, have this issue occasionally, usually on a large download ... like Sky Safari Pro (570 mbytes). Two months of this and my Note freezes during the episode. Only solution I have found is to turn off WiFi, power down, remove SIM and restart. Only then can I kill the download in Google Play. I have seen this on 3 different stock ROM's and 3 different Customs. GB and ICS. Currently on ICS XEU.
Usually waiting an hour or two and then it's okay.... batch updates are a real killer with this and I also see the first download okay then the rest hang and have to be shut down manually.

Now i'm experiencing the same exact thing. T_T

Can't download/update apps from Google Play via wifi

I've just flashed the stock rom on my gs2 and now i can't update or install new apps. i was using litening rom before and for a week or so i couldn't managed to update some of my apps, so i flashed from sammobile and the phone's working. But when it comes to updates or installs from google account, they doesn't work.
I've tried all the advices i could find but none of them work including wipe, factory reset, clearing data and cache.
If someone knows what's the problem, please post. I'll be deeply grateful.
Just noticed that i can't do that only via wifi. so it's an isp problem or something else?
Google play
Hi.
Did you manage to fix your problem? I had similar problem. I could only download from the Google Play Store using wi-fi.
I managed to fix it after I deleted my APN proxy and port settings.
Then I could download from Google Play Store using my phone carrier's network. Strangely, I found that after I re-inputted the APN proxy and port settings, it still worked!

I got the same problem...
After i've done a factory reset to my phone (btw, it's HTC Desire C)
I am unable to update/download new apps from the Play Store over WiFi.
Actually, i was able to install Dolphin Browser via the Site, but after i tried to install Go Backup the same way, i was unable to download it.
I switched to 3G/H and it's was ok, it started to download it without any problem...
This is strange, i have this problem 2 days now.
Also, i did a factory reset to my router in case it was blocking my phone or something, but thats not the issue as i was thinking.
Thats STRANGE!
Any ideas?
EDIT:
Seems like it downloads/updates whatever it wants
I have updates for:
GMail, YouTube, FB Messanger, Google+, Go SMS Pro, SoundHound and some other ones...
I managed to update almost everything exept the Google's and Top Developer Apps...
Now.. THATS STRAAANGE!

I'm having the same problem with a Galaxy Nexus... some apps download, other not. Problem only over Wi-Fi...
I'm having the same problem that just showed up yesterday. I have three Android devices that will not download or update an app from the Play Store on my wifi. If I use mobile data - everything works. I went to a public wifi and everything worked. Came back home and still can't download /update.
All other google services work with no issue. Checked router settings and nothing blocked. Restarted router and modem but still not working.
I was having the same problem, until yesterday... that it just started to work again on his own. =/
Maybe it is a problem from our ISP?

I was suffering form this problem. I was not able to download the application via wifi. Downloading was working fine with mobile internet.
At last, I have changed my DNS to public Google DNS (via router) and its working ..

Can't establish a reliable data connection

Recently, the Google Play store stopped working for me. It kept saying "No Connection" and the Retry button didn't do anything.
I looked up a few solutions, and none of them worked. Finally, I gave up and reset my device to factory settings.
Now, when I try to set up my account, it sits for a minute and then says "Cant establish a reliable data connection to the server".
What should I do?

By the Android Version I think you probably dont have a custom rom. Now since you don't, the easiest way without spending hours on the internet researching is to call your phone provider's technical service and they'll help you. This is a direct and easier method rather then searching online.

Sorry about that. Well if you didn't root it, you should have your warranty and Samsung would definitely help you.
I wouldn't recommend taking any device back unless you have exerted all the possibilities of a fix. People's time is precise in my opinion.
What you can do is try factory resetting your device, it might of been a issue relating to updating the Google Play (Market) application.
Hope this helps.

Well since you have a Google account, try this. Log into your Google account on the computer. Go to the play store. Go to my apps. And download it from there. I highly doubt this will work because you don't have a connection but its worth a quick shot. Also since you do have root, did you backup your apps via titanium or any other app? You could get all your apps and data back that way.

I tried downloading from my PC, but it didn't work because the account wasn't synced. I was able to get pretty much everything back by using the Aptoide store and downloading the .apk files manually. I don't need an account on the device to use it anymore, so everything's fine.
I came out with a solution for you, but you will need to take a couple of steps to get it completely working.
First thing you need to do, is download a Play Store APK file, and save it onto your device. (Click here to download)
Next step, since you're rooted is finding a Root File Explorer to remove the Play Store file you have installed on your device. ( Try This *Note, haven't tested myself*!! ) )
When it's removed, feel free to install the play store apk from the first step to your device.
Hope this helps, is so, feel free to like.

[Q] Gapps not working over WiFi

Just picked up the G3 and can't connect to marketplace, chrome, facebook, hangouts, gmail, youtube etc. on WiFi but I can browse internet on the stock browser, hulu, Nteflix, etc on the same WiFi. If I turn off WiFi I can connect just fine to everything over 3g/4g.
Things I've tried -
- update profile, prl, reset network setting
- clear cache / data play services and play
- sideload updated gapps apk
- wipe phone cache / factory reset
- adjust time settings; auto / manual +- 1 time zone
- took phone back and replaced with a new one = same issues
- reset router
- changed date / time on router
- used googles dns server = 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
- I will mention that when I took the phone back the service rep connected it to his hotspot and it worked fine leading me to believe it has something to do with router phone compatibility.
I'm kinda at the end of my knowledge base and have been searching all morning to find a fix. I've found a few examples of the same issues but no solutions. Pretty much every single one who I have found with this problem has had it resolved with time and that's not something I really have at work. I'm using a linksys e3200 router.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you have adblock plus running on your phone? If so that seems to be finicky with some apps I myself have run into that problem but I diagnosed it as adblock plus being the culprit. God I wish we had root, adaway was just too good really understand that app's actual value now before took it for granted can't stand ads and unfortunately Android is chalk full of them without an ad blocker.
try updating the firmware on your router if its not up to date. also see if there is an option to change the frequency from N maybe to only BG. (not best solution, i know)

Can't download apps from Play Store without Wi-Fi

Hi everyone,
A few days ago my phone suddently refused to download any apps from the Play Store using mobile connection. When I do that, the download is marked as pending and never downloads, ever after waiting dozens of minutes.
I tried to force close and clear data of the Play Store, of the Play Services too, to reboot several times, I checked my preferences to ensure apps can be downloaded using WiFi (still the message does not show it's waiting for a WiFi connection but just waiting for... i don't know what).
If I start a download using mobile connection and then connects to WiFi, the download will stay as "pending" and never download. I have to click the "Install" or "Update" button on the applications while I'm _already_ using a WiFi connection. Also, WiFi downloads may be a lot slower than they used to be, some parts of the applications downloading at like 100 kb/s while if I go into another app the real network speed is most around 800 kb/s.
Any clue on how to solve this problem? I checked a lot of guides to solve it but none of the proposed solutions worked :/
EDIT I'm using MIUI 10 ROM, Global Stable 10.3.7 (no root, stock kernel)

since you didnt mention Rom / i am going to assume that you are on MIUI 10.x
goto setting and installed apps and then select playstore , Clear CACHE and CLEAR DATA and UNINSTALL UPDATES. miui have only 20mb download limit which if the cache folder is full (including the update) miui refuces to lot more space since in MIUI , google play is third party app
once cache/data is cleared and updates are desabled, open playstore and download apps now! , but the problem is playstore keep updating itself automatically so every time you will face this issue you have to repeat the process
Try changing to differen MIUI build (globa stable or Eu)
OR start using APKPURE store, which is alternative to playstore (temporary solution)

use MIGRATE or Titanium Backup(not free) to extract settings/data of all your app and store it on SD CARD (not internal storage) later if you reset your device or reflash Miui or try different MIUI version/build you can simply flash migrate file (should be in Gb/s) from Twrp
So finally, after MIUI started to show up a message telling my microSD card must be formatted in order to be used (while it worked perfectly fine when I plugged in in my computer), I decided to switch ROM and ended up using Pixel Experience (Android 10, beta) so now it works perfectly fine
