I'm running AOKP latest update from task650 with stock kernel. I just noticed that my device won't shutdown, it reboots when I try to shutdown. If I pull the battery and re-insert the device boots. I've done a full wipe and reflashed the ROM and kernel and it still does the same thing. Does anyone have an idea

Found it sounds like a hardware issue, can someone confirm

I've had the same problem since I got the phone, no matter the ROM or kernel.
The unofficial cm7 bulids

When turn it off and plug it in the phone starts to charge and freezes.

restore stock rom or flash stock rom... if it still has problem then it is most likely phone. If it works on stock it is software.

Alright guys so here's the story. My friend gave me his galaxy s to put a custom rom on (cm9) he got me to do it because his galaxy s froze and was quite laggy on froyo. He doesn't know anything about how Any of this works though so he got me to do it.
Everything went perfect but he is telling me that it keeps turning off and cant be turned on without a battery pull. So basically SOD....
It just dawned on me today while I was under volting that maybe voltage was the reason for all of this. All processors are made different and maybe his was power hungry. Cause if it doesn't get right voltage, it freezes. (Just like mine with to much undervolt). That explains stock freezes??. And now on cm9, with deep idle, we get SOD instead. So I am thinking of raising the 100mhz and 200mhz voltages to fix it.
But I want to cover ALL my bases cause it isn't my phone and is pretty bad, so I want to know if you think that will fix it and what else i can do to ensure it doesn't happen again.

format ur sd card with sdformatter and see if it helps. have read many cases of SOD issue solved by formatting sd
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Interesting. Format the internal SD? The device has devil kernel could I just format the SD from there?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
oh urs is internal sd??? i thought it was external... sorry.

No problem man, thanks for the suggestion other than try a new rom haha

Is there a way to do it without the SOD? I got the devil kernel on it but keeps giving me the SOD so I turned it back off.

Anyone?

So far as I've read it's always been broken, but I'm curious as to how it works and what real benefit it offers... as it is I'm already getting awesome battery life using 400Mhz-min 800Mhz-max when the screen is off. It drops maybe 1% per hour like that, and that's with data on. I could lower it to 200Mhz min with data off and get even more juice, but I don't see the point. Then again, I'm still on ICS right now so maybe it's different on JB, I'm not sure...
Cant get a lock on any ROM I've wiped everything and have tried multiple ROMs but still no dice... any suggestions?

Can't think of anything I've done but I've wiped everything and tried several ROMs and reflashed the modem but to no avail. Any help is much appreciated. Tried nandroids too. Should I just send it in?

Anyone? Anything? Please? The last thing I can remember doing was running v6 supercharger script but idk if that's what did I and either way a nandroid/ wipe should fix that no?

I would flash back to a stock ROM and start there. Make sure it is not hardware before you start changing software settings.
Can i flash a stock rom with 9% with odin mobile lol
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I'd try putting it on USB charge first. It might just be your charger has gone US rather than anything to do with the phone OS or software. Looking at those first screenshots I'm wondering about the 'discharging' 'charging' going on. To me that sugests the charger itself is not staying on charge mode.
The SIII gets 'stuck' sometimes says Samsung, they said it was a software issue so hopefully they'll fix it soon
Possible temp fix: turn off phone (works 90% of time for me)

Flashed stock ics an hr ago and I'm up to 30% that's the highest it's gotten to in the last 24 hrs. So think it's safe to say I'm back in business.
Very strange behaviour though!

I think that your charger is bad. Try some rooted jb os with latest siyah kernel, then try to charge your phone with usb. Latest syiah kernel have tweaked usb charge to 900mA. You have managed to recharge a little bit because ics has weaker wireless than jb.
Sory for my bad english
Cant be bad charger because I've tried 2.
As soon as I flashed stock t-mobile ics the charging went back to the way it should be.
Was running latest overcome jb. Was working fine. Something must of gotten corrupted?
Only thing that fixed it was flashing stock.
Anyway crisis averted. Just glad Im not having to send it away to samsung.

tbh i'm still looking for a good solution.
First of all is ur phone rooted? If it is download an app called better battery stats and check the kernal wakelock and partial wakelock and send me some screenshots.
