[Q] Connect to Win7 Ad-Hoc network with Shared Internet - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I know that I have looked into this before and that Android Gingerbread and ICS did not have the ability to connect to a wireless Ad-Hoc network with shared internet connection. I read some places that this was supposed to be included in JB, but I am still unable to see any wireless Ad-Hoc networks when I create one using Win7.
I just work in a remote location with little to no 3g and definitely no 4g....it would be awesome if I could share the wired connection on my laptop. I know that there are 3rd party "virtual router" applications that can accomplish this, but it is a corporate laptop and I cannot install anything on it. Thanks!

[Q] Want to share PC DSL connection with my Vibrant. How can I do it?

Hi Guys. Need a little help.
Scenario: I have a wired ADSL connection in my home for internet. I have Windows 7 on my PC installed. I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G WiFi card in my PC as well.
Now, I want to share my PC's ADSL connection with my Vibrant through my WiFi card.
So far, I have failed to achieve it. I have tried doing it the TP-Link way by establishing a Soft AP through a software provided by them, but no success. I have tried connectify, no luck here either. My vibrant detects the network but never connects to it...
Any help, what so ever will be really appreciated...
Easiest way, get a $30 router at your local store. Will save you a headache. Otherwise bridge your wired and wireless connection using windows.

Well what you will need to do is allow ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the wired NIC card and allow other users to share the connection. It should DHCP the wired NIC and assign your wireless card an IP address like 192.168.137.1 and Subnet of 255.255.255.0.
Actually I don't want to buy a new router, want to use my WiFi card. And it is possible through it, so I think I should not spend money on a router...
I have tried everything... ICS is not working... Connectify is not working either...
There is some way of doing it through Adhoc network, I read somewhere but I have also read that Adhoc network is not supported in Android...
If someone can help, that would be great...
Odd because I'm doing ICS via Windows 7 and mine works perfectly..
***Edit...you might have to add in the default gateway ip and primary dns server ip on the wireless card for it to look for your wired NIC
just right click on your wired NIC and go to status and then details
Hmm... I am going to try this but do I share the internet with my WiFi card or the Virtual WiFi Miniport?
You share the wired NIC "allow other users to connect " it will act as your DHCP server and assign an address to your wireless card
Nothing is happening for me...
My Vibrant detects the WiFi AP but does not connect to it... It evens show the signal strength to be "Excellent" but does not connect to it...
Man... Its really frustrating when you can not get something to work...
So it just wont connect period?? Not even to network? Or will it connect and just no internet.... Hmmmmm
It just wont connect. Period...
Thanks for your willingness to help though...
Google "set up adhoc windows 7" to get your wireless set up properly, then should be easy. Keep it simple at first. Broadcast ssid and one you will recognize, and no password to eliminate any problems. Once configured and workinggo back and set up a password.

I have tried this Ad Hoc connection as well but I have read somewhere that Android does not support Ad Hoc connection. If there is some way around, please do tell me...
Finally... Got it working guys...

Followed it and it just worked...
Man, I am relieved...

Share internet from PC to SGS2?

Hello,
Is there any similar setting for SGS2?
http://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/tutorials/using-pc-to-connect-to-internet/
The goal is to share internet FROM PC TO SGS2 using USB.
Very useful at work which I don't want to waste my 3G data plan.
This is not possible direclty. If you have WiFi no problem
If you dont have Wifi router, you can use http://www.connectify.me/ to create virtual hotspot on your PC and then connect your phone to that hotspot and then you can share interet from PC to SGS2
I know about connectify, but at office (bank) there is no option for wifi devices .....NO WAY!
That's why I insist for USB connection.
not possible as far as i know. these are the only options

connected to Adhoc, but no internet!!!

hey all,
i have rooted sgs2
i modified my wpa supplicant to get adhoc connectivity.
my phone can connected to adhoc network created in my desktop, but no internet available in my phone.
i have checked the "enable internet sharing" option of the LAN adapter which carries internet to my desktop, but no way..
also tried connectify and virtual hotsopt..same situation..
please help me to find a solution..
What type of modem/router do you have and does it have wifi capability?
IIRC the android doesnt support ad-hoc networks. Use a program called connectify to set up a virtual access point your phone can use
Edit ah ok forget it im getting sleepy here... Perhaps you shod try going with different wireless security? WPA/PSK works well here.

[Q] Enable Adhoc

Is there a working method to get the GS3 to connect to Adhoc networks?
I want to share my computer's cable internet at home and was really disappointed to find out it wasn't possible. I don't want to buy a wireless router just for that.
There's a few Apps on the market but they all kill your WifI so will have to wait for updates.

Android Wifi Hotspost WITHOUT TETHERING

I want to host an INFRASTRUCTURE (not AD-HOC), otherwise known as a SoftAP (Access point) on wifi. This is possible with many applications, but they all want to use a mobile data connection. Is there any application that allows you to host a SoftAP WITHOUT a 2G/3G/4G connection? This is just for playing over WIFI between a samsung galaxy s3 and an older android 2.1 tablet. These cannot see AdHoc networks.
Anyways, I'm interested in any application that allows hosting of an infrastructure WiFi network without tethering to just host a wireless lan point.
Bump
I am also very interested in a solution/app like this.
A photo app (MoPhotos) will work with my EyeFi WiFi card to transfer photos from the card in my camera to my computer/Android device via Wifi.
Currently, the card has to go through the home router as that what it looks for to give it a IP Address and network to connect to the computer/Android.
If there is a way for the Android device to be a Wifi HotSpot without the mobile tethering, I can configure the card to talk directly to the Android, which would be *very* helpful when out and about.
