Yes, you could extract the APK to use it on other devices and with other hardware (Such as an Xbox controller). However, the code would have to be heavily modified and adapted (Mainly software and hardware drivers) to work with not only the differences between Archos gamepad and say the Asus Transformer Prime but to be compatible with the hardware and software differences of the Xbox controller.

If you want to play games (Ones that support controllers) on your Transformer Prime using your Xbox controller what you have to do is plug in the controller, and then change certain settings in the game or emulator (If you are using a console emulator) that allows you to play the game using the controller (Some games automatically work with the controller, other you have to look at control options if available in the games settings menu). I would check out this video if you want more info:

Yeah, but Archos mapping tool lets you map any button to any touch button, including analogs, making it 90% compatible with all android games.
The only program i know that do something like it is "USB/BT Joystick Center 6", i even have bought it. It works well but Archos Mapping looks much more easy and friendly.
Hope someone ports it so we can use.. mainly on my nexus 7.
the program is on play store now. Can anyone try hack it?

I know this isn't exactly what you are wanting, but there is an app that does this. Its called USB/BT Joystick Center 6 and when paired with Joy2Touch Server it's possible it might work with your Xbox controller without issue as long as your device has the drivers to support the controller itself.
yes but infortunaly my TF201 cant be root now 10.4.2.17 and for see in real mapping tool for archos its really user friendly so im still waiting

Hello
There is an paid app called GameKeyboard on the playstore that will do almost the same.
root is not needed.
As a not very active xda poster  I cannot post links but you can search for it on google or directly on your android device and see a video which shows how it works with Street Fighter IV on an Xperia Play on the playstore page.
I bought the app and tried it on an x86 port of Android on my asus netbook with a Snes Emulator.
Mapping keyboard keys worked flawlessly.
I could not try it with a usb/bt joypad as I have none but maybe somebody else did and may confirm this tool can be used for that purpose too ?

Has someone gotten this to work properly on an emulator. I tried using this on n64oid playing super mario 64 and I couldn't get it to work. The keys mapped on the settings but wouldn't respond during gameplay. Yet the ps3 controller is working because it works on the home screen. Is anyone else experiencing the same issues?
its paired but I cannot configure buttons, and pressing left and right on the homescreen nothing happens there either what little step did I miss, and its my default imput selection right now
got it uninstalled the combatabilty app and that seemed I left it on and it really did not work right when you have both apps on
Can someone post the Sixaxis Pair Tool? I cannot go to the developers website, it tells me it is unsafe.
EDIT: Just downloaded it through my phone instead. ESET can be aggressive
So is there still no one who has actually gotten this to work with an emulator? I got it to pair with the phone properly, and was able to set controls in SNES9x, but I couldn't get it to actually respond in game. It navigated the phone just fine though
Actually it would be interesting to see if this works with the webtop over hdmi mods? Anyone tried this yet?

When I click Start on the Compatibility Checker, it says "Driver Started" and just stays there. It´s not showing the Local Bluetooth Address in the bottom of the screen.

Noticed in some reviews that the dev emailed them back about this. You just need to assign values for those key presses manually.

sorry for the slow reply, i've been playing with my a500 and in those forums. here is a quick guide and some answers...
you need:
ps3 controller
usb cable for controller
rooted phone/tablet
sixaxis controller test app
sixaxis controller app
pc with windows (i don't have linux or mac sorry)
motioninjoy (for windows)
getting ready:
download and install the test app on your phone. run it and press start. allow root. upon success a bluetooth code will appear at the bottom of the app. note this.
next, download and install motioninjoy to your pc. run the ds3 tool. connect your ps3 controller to the pc via cable. click on "bluetooth pair." select manual mac address. refer to the code on your phone, this is the bluetooth's mac address. enter each pair backwards! i.e. if your address on the phone says A8.53.D1.29.52 then on ds3 enter 52.29.D1.53.A8
now purchase and download the actual app to your phone. run it. click start. disconnect the controller and press the "ps" or center button. the app should read the controller and the controller should have one solid light on P1. if so, it works. don't forget to go to settings and allow the input and change input to the controller.
in the options you can change the hardware keys inputted by the controller, i.e. home, back, letters, numbers. you can set different values for the sticks than the digital pad or set it up to control your phone.
this controller app can control any of your games/apps that check for hardware input. gameloft games (and most games) do not so it will not work for these games.
i will clean this up tomorrow with links and stuff, sorry for the sloppiness. if this helps, thank me! l8r
Well, I solved my problem.
My root was not working properly, so the compatibility checker on the Atrix was not showing the bluetooth address.
Thanks people!

Will SIXAXIS work with the SXS and a third party controller?
Like this one: Ebay link
Even tho it seller says: Compatible with Sony PS3 only.
My plan was to play the Playstation games on my tv with the hdmi cable and PS3 controller.
I don't think Sixaxis will work to be honest. But I also doubt there are any games that support it really...
The ps3 pad works with cable and livedock if on stock. And there is sixaxis app for rooted. Playstation suite is already compatible with the pad on ginger bread. When ics comes there will be native support meaning full controller with USB controller supported games like GTA3, shadowgun, onlive.

Only Root, Controller and App
Button mapping = while we are on Gingerbread you will have to change the button config 1 time in sixaxis settings (listed post below) for the playstation cert games. Or you can map button presses to screen if want (usefull for touch only games) . When we have ICS we will have full native controller support which means we will have the pad working fully sticks and everthing (eg GTA3 will control the same as if was on PS2)
Playstation Suite Mappings
All buttons are the obvious (left = left , L1 = L1) except these 4
Cross = Button A or D-pad center (d-pad center also works on all menus as enter)
Circle = Button B
Square = Button X
Triangle = Button Y
Xperia Play games mapping
Again all buttons are the obvious (left = left , L1 = L1) except these 4
Cross = D-pad center
Circle = Back
Square = X or Button X (cant remember which one)
Triangle = Y or Button Y (cant remember which one)

Yes. But until ICS the sticks wont work as they should. You can either use a Sony Ericsson live dock (works with most USB pads), Or some low powered controllers should work with just an OTG cable.
For xperia s. Can use the app. to capture screenshot of game is........ please.
Once you get root you'll be able to use a Dualshock/Sixaxis controller, you need root for the pairing app see. Then it just runs as a regular controller, of if you want you can use it as an IME(bind buttons like a USB keyboard for compatibility with some emulators).

Hey all,
I have an Asus TF300t running a CM10 nightly and Logitech Gamepad F310. The Logitech Gamepads are supposed to work, but I am having issues with mine. Games like Shadowgun and Deadtrigger detect the controller but my character spins around in a circle. And when I go to customize the controls within the game when i select an action to set to a key it automatically puts in joystick 3+ or something like that. my roommate has the same controller and his does the same thing on my tablet. Is it a bad driver or is it not supposed to work to begin with or am I doing something wrong?
EDIT 10/22/12: I flashed Hydro 4.1 JB using the guide and now my controller seems to work fine
I have the exact same problem with a Xbox360 wireless controller (using a non-official PC-USB adapter)

You have just to plug it by USB, and it should work in any game with controller support. You can also use it to navigate trough the desktop and launch apps.
I have TF300T and when it was on ICS, it worked with PS3 controller (via USB) flawlessly, but now with JB, it doesn't work whatsoever. Anyone else having this issue?

Here's some good recommendations for you:
AirAttack HD
Anomaly Korea
Asphalt 8
Dead Space
Dead Trigger
Dungeon Hunter 4
Real Racing 3
Samurai II Vengeance
ShadowGun
All of the above titles can be either downloaded/purchased from Play store, except for Asphalt 8 (Which is not compatible with Z Ultra at the moment)
You don't really need to change build.prop device name in order to get Asphalt 8 - if you have a rooted phone.
I'm just getting Asphalt 8 to try it out, will definitely purchase it legally from Play store once it's available for Z Ultra.
If you have a dualshock3 controller & your phone is rooted, then you can purchase Sixaxis Controller app to map the buttons & use the dualshock3 controller instead.
I prefer to use dualshock3 controller because it's a hundred times easier to control, rather than using the touch screen input.

*cough* You don't need the Sixaxis Controller app on Sony phones. They support the PS3 controller natively. You only need an OTG cable (USB On-The-Go) - which is cheap, and then you just plug the controller to the phone, and once it's connected and synced, you can unplug it and use it.
This only works for games that supports controllers, so if you need to map the buttons, you'll need the Sixaxis app. When i think about it, just ignore the whole first part of this post. I could edit it, but i've written it and i'm not throwing it away, god damn it

Yes, the Z Ultra natively supports the dualshock3 controller.
All you need to do is to connect the controller to your phone via a USB OTG adapter.
After that, you can unplug the cables & the dualshock3 controller will work wireless. You can control the phone UI using the dualshock3 controller & it also works for certain android games that supports controller input.
However, there's a misconception among people thinking that all android games will work that way.
Unfortunately, that's not the case. Majority of the android games out there are designed with touch screen input in mind - meaning that they don't support any controller input at all.
The moment you load a game that does not support controller input, you will find that you can't use the dualshock3 at all. Although it is still connected to your phone via bluetooth connection but you can't use it inside the game.
That's why you need the Sixaxis Controller app to map the game's touch buttons to your dualshock3 controller, in order to use it inside the game.
Hope the above info clear things up.
While we're at it, if you use SixAxis Controller and you don't want to spend time mapping the controls, then just go to SixAxis Of Power or this thread. But it's pretty easy to make them yourself, so if you have some questions then just ask.

I'm not sure how much research you've done on this already, so I'll cover the basics.
You will need to use either a USB OTG to connect the controller with a cable, or be rooted and use the SixAxis app to connect using the PS3 Bluetooth system.
The last time I used the SixAxis app, it wasn't compatible with Android 5.0. Check this out first before purchasing.

The other guy is right, get an OTG cable if you aren't rooted, or you can go wireless and use the SixAxis app. I use the SixAxis app(I'm rooted) and it works flawlessly on 5.0.1. If you go to Gamepad Settings and pick that you want the PS3 controller to be read as a gamepad, it even works natively with the shield tablet, the buttons are mapped on the controller as they are with the shield controller, and when you launch games, it acts like you have a shield controller setup! You can even do the hold-start-to-open-button-mapping with the PS3 controller!
Thanks you very much! Can you confirm me that all games are compatible? Or there is one that have any problem...?

All games that are compatible with the shield controller is compatible, because like I said, when you connect the PS3 controller, the system acts like you just connected an nvidia shield controller. For games that don't have gamepad compatibility, you can hold the start button to bring up an on screen button mapper and place buttons and joysticks in the locations you want.

For NVidia Game Mapper, the game you are trying to set up controller maps for must at least have some sort of native controller code implemented.
For example, there are some pinball games that I tried to create a game map for using the Game Mapper. The button assignments would not work. At all.
In some ways, the NVidia Controller is limited by the Nvidia Gamepad Software. Which is a real shame, because the Shield Controller is a great piece of hardware.
If you are using SixAxis, you can set the app to treat all connected PS3 controllers as "Native Controllers".
You can also set up both a touch profile and use the native controller features already included in some games (this is referred to as "hybrid controller mode"). For example, Zen Pinball HD has basic native controller support implemented. But it doesn't have analog plunge for the ball launch. You can set up just the Right Analog Stick as a touch profile, and use the native features to control everything else.

You just repeated everything I said in a long, drawn out format..

For games that don't have gamepad compatibility, you can hold the start button to bring up an on screen button mapper and place buttons and joysticks in the locations you want.

The on-screen NVidia Key Mapper, like I specifically pointed out, only works for some games. Which is why...

...I provided a "long, drawn out" answer. For someone not used to SixAxis and the powerful options it offers for game mapping (hybrid mode/native controller mode) it is long, drawn out info like this that will allow folks to get the most out of the app.
I also don't feel I repeated your information. I added specific information relating to SixAxis features that your two posts didn't contain.
Sorry to bother you guys but I'm looking for a way to use a gamepad without spending 70 euros on Nvidia's right now. So to see if I got what you said before right, if I'm rooted and install SixAxis I can use a PS3 controller as if it were an Nvidia controller with the device?
Just to clarify your understanding... you DO NOT have to root the device. You only need to root it if you want to use it wirelessly. You can use a USB OTG(which is a few $/€ on amazon) without rooting your device and plug it in directly.

I have an OTG cable and I tried plugging it in this way, it works but the mapping isn't very good, for example Mimpy which is also supposed to be Tegra optimized doesn't work, I can go back and forth with the left joystick (or the arrows) but I can't use the other side of the gamepad to jump as I should. If I connect it wirelessly and use SixAxis does the mapping resemble Nvidia's own gamepad or will I still have the same issues?
