[Q] Q: is there any way to unlock sk17i from 12W28? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi,
I don't seem to be able to use S1tool to unlock bootloader of sk17i manufactured 12w28 with S1 boot version R9B031.
I actually have 2 sk17i phones, the other one is older (but I had problems with the slightly cracked display and a new one was relatively cheap) and I couldn't get that one to unlock either (although it didn't give me an error message, just kept searching after the connect with phone turned off.
The newer one gives "qcReceivePacket: can't get packet start" which lead me to look at the S1 boot version.
So, is there any safe way to unlock the bootloader of this newer sk17i without loosing drm?
TIA

[Q] Help with unlocking bootloader on Live (WT19i)

I have been trying for two days now to unlock the bootloader on a friend's Live with Walkman (Wt19i) with little success.
The phone came with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 and is branded so in the *#*#7378423#*#* /Service info/Configuration menu, the rooting status is :
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Rooting was easy, thanks DoomLord.
Next is unlock bootloader. I tried to do this via the s1tool method because the official Sony method was a no-go because of branding.
The s1tool method seemed like it would work but then I read that it also doesn't work on branded phones.
I attempted it anyway - the result was no change whatsoever in the phone's bootloader status.
Can I unlock the bootloader without having to pay someone to do it?
The s1tool method might work even if the phone is branded but if you want to unlock the boot loader to flash custom kernels and roms you will need to enter to fast boot mode which is disabled in all the branded phones that I know of, you can try to enter the phone in fastboot mode turning it of and connecting the USB cable to the PC and the phone holding down the volume up key, if the notification led turn on blue then you can flash custom kernels and rooms once the bootloader is unlocked if not then you will need to pay to unlock it if that is what you or your friend wants.
Hope it's helpful!!
Thanks for your reply, very helpful indeed.
I will see if I can boot into that mode when I get back home and at least then I'll know for sure.
It would be ever-so-nice if I could unlock this for her without having to pay money for it. (She won it in a competition that she only entered because her iPhone died recently - but the Live WT19i is locked to the wrong network)

Well actually for a sim unlock at this moment you will need to pay for, there's no way to unlock the sim for free. Unlocking the bootloader it's a different matter than the sim. I didn't mention it because you were asking about the boot loader sorry.
And I stupidly assumed unlocking the bootloader would allow me to unlock the SIM lock/branding.
Thanks again for the help, I'll just tell her she has to pony up the dough if she wants to use it on her network.

Unlocking bootloader x10 minipro

Hello, recently I used the "SE tweaker tool v4.0 "located in the development area for the x10 mini pro, to unlock my u20i bootloader.
All in all, the process seemed to work, the cellphone turned off, then turned on again when it was finished. After that I was supossed to check if the bootloader had successfully been unlocked via booting the phone in flash mode and comparing the output.
Short story: After turning off the phone it didn't turn again, I connected it and it never went in flash mode. I realized that might be a hard brick, however it's strange since the phone did boot automatically during the process of unlocking the bootloader.
Is there ANYTHING I can do about it? No signs of life literally though.
Did u try s1 tool befre unlockng bootloader.? What was its output?
SEMC SIMLOCK or something like that. The output was the one that was required, I checked and double checked precisely to avoid a brick.
I've been reading further and it seems that those cellphones that unlock their bootloader with that 2772xxxxx file, will hard brick always after turning off, if they were manufactured after 11w29.
Said announcement is stickied only in the x8 forums, I think it should be posted up in the x10 and x10mini pro, and any other cellphones that are affected. I don't know for sure, but most likely that's it.

That's weird.. wotan server unlocks sim lock using the test point, so it was supposed to unlock your phone's bootloader too.. maybe you did something wrong.. xD
any way, check this out:
[Unlock Bootloader]Xperias 2011 unlock for free.
yes, i've been trying omnius-server and S1tool for the last 3h!
im using an home made testpoint.
omnius-server doesnt seem to recognise it, and s1 ends with this error:
qcReceivePacket: can't get packet start

X10 mini pro useless.help!!!

Hi,
hope someone can help me.
I unlocked my phone using a program from a web. I guess it used omnius to do it. After that, I unlock the bootloader to install a new kernel using the msm7227_setool2.cmd option of SE Tweaker Tool. When I did it, I realized that the phone had lost signal so I couldn't use it. I read afterward something about losing sim unlock if doing this but it was to late.
I tried to restore it using seus but now I can only use not working sim cards. If I use a functional one, from my previous company or from the new one, it is showed on the top bar a symbol I guess means "impossible to read sim card" and the screen only shows the background image (I cannot use the phone even to listen to music).
I relock bootloader using RESTORE function on s1tool but it's still no use. If I try to install another rom like MiniCM7Pro V21, it gets stuck on the starting animation.
I thought of buying an IMEI unlock code so I looked for information and found that, under the service info menu, there is an option called "SIM lock" that shows the number of attemps you have to unlock your phone. I haven't tried any unlock code and the phone shows that I still have 5 chances to enter it but there is no [X] next to any of the lines shown and, for what I read, it is supposed to show it if you can unlock the phone.
I've been searching for information but all I can find about restoring lost signal is what I've already done.
Anyone knows what else I can do?
Thank you!

[Q] Unlock bootloader if not allowable

Hello, i just acquired an used 2011 Sony LwW that comes with locked bootloader, and it says allowed to unlock no, i always thought it could be unlocked via the pinpoint method, but now i read it cant be done even with that method?
I'm a bit confused, i wanted to jelly bean it because it comes with Ginger 2.3.4 lol
If your phone's manufacturing date is after 12W11 (11th week of 2012), then you can not unlock it indeed. Unless there are some new methods, that we are not aware of yet
To find your phone's manufacturing date, look under the battery, written in the shape [2 numbers]W[2 numbers].
11W51
but it says unlock allowable: no, can i still unlock it via the pinpoint?
