I read a lot of threads on this phone and I don't understand :
Sometimes it is written that DNA butterfly supports sd card up to 32 go and Sometimes not...
Just see my link below ...

The HTC J Butterfly has an SD card slot and is the Japan exclusive model. The US/Verizon exclusive HTC Droid DNA does not. If there ends up being a model for Europe or elsewhere then it may or may not have SD card support, time will tell.

I just read on another thread that Europe is getting the Butterfly with the microSD card expansion slot http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-butterfly/#specs
First of all let's make it clear about the models:
J butterfly (Japan exclusive) with sd card and is water resistant certified.
DNA (Verizon exclusive) no sd card and it has not been confirmed it is water resistant.
Butterfly (China market and will only be sold in Asia) sd card and has been advertised on the official HTC advert as water resistant)
None of these are coming to Europe or America or anywhere else. If you want it in America you will have to pick the DNA from Verizon. These models are being released are like a beta test before the official international release. The reason why HTC has done this is because they want to see everyone's reaction before they make the official debut. This is so they avoid the issue they had with sensation/xe one x/x+ by providing a new flagship after 6 months because the first flagship had small flaws that made the s2/s3 a better choice in 2011 and 2012. The 2013 flagship will be a improvement of the three variants of the butterfly that will compete with the s4.
They will release the official flagship in 2013 February and sell it in Q1. It will have a better design/camera/processor so it can compete with the A6/exynos quad A15. Their is no point in getting the above devices those who want the best HTC handset should wait till February mwc 2013. Those who have bought the the DNA/butterfly/j have not been ripped off cause they got a device which has 2013's hardware. The reason why HTC have used this strategy is because they will get a flagship that will not be a hit and miss like the previous phones also hopefully if HTC makes their flagship properly then we will not see another HTC flagship till 2014.

Thank you Ali
Yes as I can read today in many medias, we will have in Europe a butterfly, with sd card slot.
Except the battery not fantastic, but that seems to be good enough (much better than the one x and almost the same as the s3), that will be a great phone (great specs) mainly if they put a 13 mo camera (for marketing !).

Awesome news from HTC !!!
EVO 3D european version confirmed from HTC france ! even with its same name , no release date yet.
this got me very excited, how about you guys ?
check this out , the original article with HTC france twitter link

What 3g bands do the euro phones normally work on, 850/1900?
they added it to gsmarena , here is a comparision btween the gsm and the cdma version
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3901&idPhone2=3895
900/2100 is the standard for phones for Europe/Asia.
Apparently when the GSM version of the phone was first posted on the HTC website it had the 900/AWS/2100 bands listed but that information was removed a couple of days before all the specs were taken down. Probably because of the AT&T/T-Mobile acquisition, which looks like it will end in AWS going away in the USA.

Good news!!!
I found in the european version only 1 GB of internal storage... why in the hell such a lame amount of memory instead 4GB of usa version????
I can't understand this policy of htc, and why on 2011 only 1GB of storage, I think al teast 4Gb of rom is the minimum requirement....
I don't want to experience again the lack of space for installing apps like my actual htc desire with only 120 Mb of space...
Yes, the specs for the European/Asian version listed only 1GB of storage BUT I am hoping that that may change before release since HTC have now pulled all the specifications from their worldwide website and not just the 3G frequency bands, which they pulled before.

I don't know what's that, i tried google translate with no results.
Anyway for me 1Gb of space is a shame in2011 for a high end phone
I hope there is a simple mistake into the specs.
It's quite illogical to have same phones with different ram size.
I like that there will be a gsm version, this way the community will expand.

This is storage, not RAM and we do often see US versions of the phones with different storage, different batteries and sometimes different designs. It depends on what the carrier asks for.
Also in some phones the built in storage is actually a microSD card, which is perfect for different configurations for different markets.

Hi, I'm far more interested in the variant for the Japanese market than the American one, mainly because of storage expandability and water proof ability. However, has the J Butterfly been officially launched in Japan yet? If so, are there any legit online legible stores where I can get one?

I too am interested in this. I would much rather have a microSD slot than wireless charging. And that red device is über attractive. I've been doing some research and it appears that this device should be carrier unlocked like the DNA is http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-Droid-DNA-comes-unlocked-for-use-with-any-SIM-card_id36652 However au KDDI's LTE bands are at 800MHz not Verizon's 700Mhz http://www.japanmobiletech.com/2012/09/more-details-on-kddi-4g-lte-iphone-5.html?m=1
HTC J Butterfly pamflet!

it has been released already here in Japan since last December 9.
And I'm loving it!... :good:
It was released in Kanto areas of Japan on Dec. 9th.
Other areas of Japan are the 14th, and 21st.
However I was told by a girl in the AU shop here in Osaka that the J Butterfly would be available the 12th. So I'm heading down today to take a look.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your recent interest and preorder of the HTC Butterfly.
Unfortunately, we have now been informed by HTC that this device will
not be available in European markets, and as such we have had to
remove it from our website and cancel your preorder.
We are sorry for any disappointment that this may cause.
An alternative model to the Butterfly that may be of interest is the

to preorder now: http://www.expansys.com/htc-one-sv-blue-240562/

Just wanted to get some informed data on the HTC Butterfly...
Seems like the only main differences between the HTC Droid DNA and the Butterfly is the addition of a SD card slot and the battery maybe better.
I have also heard that the HTC Butterfly will be going global as soon as production is increased (wondering if we will be able to purchase this monster in the states?) One last thing that interested me was that the HTC Butterfly is SIM free unlocked out of the box... Sounds like this phone would work with any carriers in the states... Is this accurate information? Thanks for any info about this phone....
Hellow Guys i want to ask... wats the diference? about the new M7? i mean the Screen is more smaller... and the CPU is 1.7Ghz... but as i know the QUalcom CPU that the Droid Dna have is the same and can be overlocked at 1.7Ghz.. because the CPU can Handle That the COmpany of HTC dow-clock the CPU of the HTC DROID DNA to 1.5GHz... when can Reach with no risk at 1.7Ghz... so wats the Difference the SCreen Density is 480Dpi and the M7 Screen Density is 460Dpi so? whts the Diferencie...
if the HTC M7 Uses the SAme CPU as the HTC DROID DNA (but the DNA is down-clock) whats the Big Deal About that? i mean... we can be at 1.7GHz with no problem on the HTC DROID DNA? i have been for 5 days using the 1.7GHz and in the GPU 487MHz... no probelms no SOD or reebots ... so whats the diference on the New HTC M7 on the HTC DROID DNA? if we can be at the same range ... because the hardware is the same...
I thought and don't quote me on this that the M7 has additional storage 32GB, a removable battery and an SD Card slot. All the stuff that the DNA is kinda lacking.
Being someone who just got the DNA, i kinda hope the m7 will have horrible battery life so i can still feel good about my phone lol.

It won't. It's going to have a 2300mah battery, so unless HTC makes a monumental mistake with Sense 5, it should have better battery life.

Wow, that post was close to incomprehensible. The m7 is not a "droid" branded device, and will not be a flagship phone. Samsung has their s3 series, sure they make other phones, but the s3 line is their top product. For Htc, it is there incredible series, usually distinguished by the name, or the red highlighting. The dna is latest phone in that series of great phones.
The m7, while a capable device, is not in the same league as the dna. Regarding s-off, I assume you have not had Htc devices before. S-off always comes, and honestly it's really not that big of a deal anyway. Like others have mentioned, it only makes things slightly easier.

Huh? The DNA/Butterfly is a regional interim release based on the One XL. The M7 will be HTC's "flagship" global phone to compete with the XZ, SGS4, and LG E940 and will include quad-band HSPA which the Butterfly intentionally did not. Here are features it's supposed to have (based on leaks) not in the DNA:
First use of SoLux display technology in a mobile device
32GB+ internal storage
2,300 mAh battery
13MP Exmor RS camera sensor
First official use of Sense 5
It's supposed to follow Samsung's lead with the SGS3 and be released on multiple U.S. carriers without any changes (unlike the One XL, EVO 4G LTE) and Sprint's supposed to carry it so a CDMA version will exist. If VZW decides not to carry it then the DNA will remain the HTC "flagship" but only on VZW. There’s not one feature on the DNA that’s superior to the leaked specs of the M7. And while the M7’s display might be 3/10 of an inch smaller SoLux stands to set a new standard in brightness and outdoor usability. As it is, the DNA’s display is 30% dimmer than the OG One X.
If you’re on VZW wait until the HTC U.S. launch of the M7 on February 19th to see if their one of the carriers that’s going to carry it. If they don’t and you want an HTC device the DNA’s still a solid choice if you can live with the battery and storage constraints.

Totally true. The M7 will absolutely be a flagship device on every carrier its launched on.....at least until the snapdragon 800 SoCs arrive in phones by mid year...
M7 should be launched in march I believe and looks to have the 600 series SoC probably... Given Rajs discussion of it being in hands of consumers earlier...

It's 12% larger. The wildcard is how much energy the SoLux display consumes. In non-mobile applications it's twice as efficient as incandescent bulbs. It's never been used in a mobile device before so all 12% of the extra battery life could be used by the display or it could consume half the energy of existing displays furthering the M7's battery life. We'll have to wait until it gets tested to know the impact.

It’s supposed to be released Q1 and it would be fantastic for HTC if they could score being the launch customer with the M7. The XZ is using the same SoC as the DNA/Butterfly and I’d guess LG’s 1080P device will too. 600 will be far more effective against Exynos Octa. Here’s an interesting article where Qualcomm’s CEO describes what Samsung’s trying to do with Octa and why.
