I9100M back to stock help. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to revert my I9100M back to stock, however, Im not sure where I find the stock ics kernel for bell. I downloaded the bell firmware from sammobile, however i want to have everything correct before i do flash it.
With the bell firmware that you get from sam mobile, where do you find the PDA/PHONE/CSC files? and also, when i do find all three correct ones, where do i go to flash the kernel to the corresponding one? I don't want to brick my phone!

what format was it downloaded. if it is tar format, use odin and put it in pda section, it is an all in one file with everything you need bundled together.
if it is in zip format use cwm to flash.
if it is in another format, extract thyebfiles and then use either odin cwm to flash depending on the file ending.

Flashing Simply Honey Revolution 3.9

Hey guys so I am interested in flashing the simply honey revolution ROM on my samsung vibrant. But I am stuck. The instructions call for you to flash via Odin with the 512 PIT file. But when I download the light version for first flash in the instructions I find a .tar file. How do I flash this rom? Thanks for your help!
I have the same question, since I am used to work on the EVO 4G but not this phone. Any help will be appreciated. I already flashed a gingerbread bootloader, but I still need to flash this ROM.
Put the tar file in the pda and pit in the pit section.
just use that file but open PDA selection. it will flash it. also make sure you odin a gingerbread boot loader first.
Ok, understanding a little bit more. Right know I have the zip and the tar file inside that one. I don't have any Pit file mentioned. Also in the instrutions doesn't say if the phone needs to be in download mode or whatever mode. Thanks for any other info.
It should be in download mode to use ODIN.
Okay let me see if I have this process correct. From the page I download this http://www.multiupload.com/KP8HBPR20Z from under the instructions coming from eclair/froyo. Inside I see the .tar file. (not a .pit file). In ODIN i put the .tar file under PDA and click start. Once that is done I can download the bootloader and flash that via ODIN. Is this correct?
yeh
or you could use rom manager to flash whichever package you want after odining the light version instead of flashing the bootloaders
dont do it
I just went through hell flashing that rom and even BRICKED my phone. (well semi-brick, none of the buttons worked) I made the same mistake as you. Dont use the Simply_Honey_3.8_LightOdin file, use the one that is named simply_ODIN_HEIM . The light odin is bull****. Didnt work for me. I dont even want to guess why...
Good Luck!
Remember to open the .zip and extract the .tar, zip's cant be flashed in odin

[Q] flashing back a stock rom

i'm on my KF1 stock rom, and i want to experiment on different roms.
1) are all custom roms (e.g lite'ning, cognition, darky) flashable using CWM? (i got my CWM from flashing the mirage kernel). or i can use odin anytime if i want to flash them thru the computer?
2) i searched for the forums for my stock rom, and i found a link:
http://www.multiupload.com/U95BI5QVDL
it's in an .exe format. is that flashable too thru CWM, or i have to use Odin to flash it back if ever i want to revert back to my stock rom? isn't flashble stuff in .tar or .md5 format?
The one you found is correct and it has to be extracted from .exe format via Winrar/7Zip. Then you will get .tar file which you could flash via Odin.
And I think you can flash any Custom ROM via Odin over any ROM.
Regards.
do i flash the stock rom under the PDA tab only, just like flashing a kernel? i don't have to tick any other options (bootloader, phone, csc, etc)?

[Q] Flashing stock zip via cwm from CM9

Hi all, thanks for viewing this thread
- I flashed my friend's Bell SGS2 i9100M to CM9 a while back, but now he wants to go back to stock and needs to make use of his warranty because of the battery charging problem even when it's is not plugged in
- I need to flash his phone back to Bell stock firmware UGKG2, but I do not have the necessary firmware (PDA) .tar file to flash back to stock via Odin. I've checked Intratech's thread but multiupload is down so I cannot download the .tar files
- However, I have the stock ROM in .zip file, the kernel, modem and CSC in .tar file
- Unfortunately, I did not make the nandroid backup before flashing CM9 on his phone
- I currently do not have his phone with me, but he will be coming over in a few hours
So my questions are:
1) Is it okay to just flash the stock ROM .zip file via recovery from CM9? (After the standard procedures of wiping system, data, cache, etc.)
2) Will the CM9 kernel recovery flash the stock ROM .zip file? I think it might give some e: (some sdcard) error, I'm guessing... If so, will flashing a custom Gingerbread kernel then flashing the stock ROM .zip file via CWM work?
3) If 1 & 2 don't work, does this mean I absolutely have to flash back to stock via Odin?
I've also got an usb jig prepared
Thanks in advance

Hey,
like u said, the .zip includes .tar files.
.tar files always must flashed via odin!
Only way to to it via phone is using odin on phone, but I'm not up to date how is the status and if it's really working.
So to be sure:
1) make a full wipe (like u said above with formatting system, cache etc.)
2) Put files in Odin and flash
3) Flash cf-root or kernel to get CWM back (if u want)

the .zip file does not have the .tar files, it is CWM flashable; it has the META-INF folder, system folder, zimage, etc.

Oh ok. Didn't read carefully, sorry.
So dunno where u got it from, but if it is a source u trust, it should work.
... should be like flashin CM or any custom Rom
Much success!

[Q] Help !

How can I go back from 4.0.3 to 2.3.6 ?
You can use odin or CWM. If you want to get back to stock, just download a stock rom from samfirmware.com and use odin. You can also just flash a 2.3.6 rom if you have CWM already installed.
as mentioned above...
easiest way I think will be ODIN.
Get the ROM you want (official) and look for Odin3-v1.85.zip and run it.
Then plug your phone and it will show up in Odin. Then check and select PDA in Odin and find the rom you want to install. Run it and should be good to go.
PS
The stock ROM should be tar/md5 along with a dll (in case you get it somewhere zipped up and need to unzip it).

Stock firmware should be the full file with PDA Modem and CSC
No mention of 3 files in the instructions there .
How to install the latest firmware on your phone. This will also get rid of Bell's bloatware:
1) Make sure you have working drivers installed on your computer. If you do not, the easiest way is to download Kies and it will install it for you.
2) Install Odin 1.85 on your computer (attached at the bottom of this post)
3) Pick any firmware version you would like to flash from Intratech's thread linked here. The firmware is arranged from oldest to newest so the last ones are obviously going to be the newest.
4) Start Odin in "administrator" mode and make sure Kies is not running in the background. Use task manager to check
5) Place your downloaded firmware .tar or .md5 file into the PDA section in Odin. Make sure re-partition is not selected. Auto reboot and reset time should be selected by default.
The stock rom link says
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update
thx
yea it didnt mention about the other 3 packages in that post
but i think as long as i flashed the stock one, i should be fine and dont need to care the others right?
