Ive got a unused unopened verizon wirless sim card that they sent me for my note 2. I really have no need for it cause i already have one in the note 2. I want to sell it dont know how much or if it has any personal info in it so i can sell it. Yes its still wrapped in the plastic and all but just want to make sure verizon didnt put anything linking it to my account or the phone. So how much would i be able to sell it and if theres anyone interested let me know.
They are free from verizon

Someone could technically activate it on your line I believe if you sold it. The network is waiting for it to become active and it's linked to your account. I'd say either use it, or destroy it. Even if it didn't have anything linked to you, the value would be minimal

Thanks! I didnt think they were but guess ill hang on to it just in case another breaks or something.
Here's what happened to me (SG3's SIM Card went bad in August)....IF you go to a VZW Corp store, they're free, but if you go to an Authorized Resale Store, they'll charge you $25 for it. I'd hold on to it, just in case your current SIM every hiccups or flakes out.

$25? No, this is wrong. Maybe at SOME authorized resale stores they will charge you that much. I bought a 4g sim by my place for $5.

I went to 2 different Retailers-same price. Maybe it's different by region???? Either way, I ended up getting it for free at a Corp Store, it's just that those two retailers were closer to my office.
Yeah they're free at verizon

Oh an yeah it might be linked to your account already so I wouldn't sell it unless you want unexpected charges

Ok, so here is my issue.
A couple days ago I obtained a Motorola Photon from a third party.
It seems that reason this person was willing to sell me the device for the price I got it at was because it was still linked to a suspended account on Sprint.
After calling them and arguing for quite a while it's become clear that they do not want to release the device unless it's account is payed off and it is removed.
Since that is not likely to happen, I was considering that if I can obtain the MSL using this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365058 ) I might be able to manually program it with the information from my old phone and skip talking to sprint entirely.
Would this even work? Or am I stuck?

Your best bet is buying a working but damaged model and switch out the board. Good luck. Curious, how much is the balance?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
The Photon only cost me $70, it was used, but only 4 months old and in an otterbox case, so in perfect physical condition.
I actually managed to get in touch with the person I bought it from and it seems that this might have legitimately been a misundestanding.
Apparently he was on a family member's account, and had recently gotten his own line on AT&T and didn't need his sprint phone, thus why he wanted to sell it.
He's getting in touch with his uncle who is the account holder, and is hopefully going to get it resolved.
If this DOESN'T work out tho, does anyone have any other suggestions on a way around this?

No, the MSL will not help. The problem is that Sprint has suspended your ESN, which you can look at as the "unique electronic fingerprint" for your device. For your purposes, the ESN is permanent and can't be changed. You can use an MSL to change the MSID and MSN (IIRC) - i.e. your phone number, but the ESN block stays.
Maybe you can sell it to someone in Europe or Asia for use on a GSM network. IF you can find a buyer and want to go to the trouble, time and expense of doing that. Still don't see you netting $70.

(1) Unless he CLEARLY told you at point of sale that the phone was blacklisted by Sprint and would be unusable, he needs to give you a full refund immediately.
(2) Pay the Sprint balance yourself only if it's a very small amount like $10-$20. (If it's tied to an multi-line account, the amount is likely much higher) Insist the seller reimburse you.
(3) Sell it outside the US as a GSM-only phone on eBay.
(4) Sell it on eBay for parts.
(5) Small claims court - IF you have a clear bill of sale.
Only (1) makes any sense to me. #2 just gets you in deeper likely, and for #3 and #4, the Photon is not very popular on eBay.
Did you pay by check? If so, cancel.
For others reading this - when you buy a phone from an unknown sourse, call Sprint about status before any money changes hands,
I'll take it from you if you want to let go of it. PM me...
Thanks for the very thorough response willysp, but thankfully everything seems to have worked out in the end.
The gentleman who sold me the phone got in touch with his uncle and was able to remove the phone from their account.
I've already talked with sprint and now have the device fully activated on my account.
Honestly this may have only worked out for me because I was holding his personal info "hostage" (He left his SD card in the phone and didnt format the internal storage) but wether it was legit or not, it all worked out in the end.
Even if I ended not needing it, the info was no less valuable.
Thanks for the help!

Sound off! Are you pre-ordering or are you going to buy it in store?
Using Tapatalk so don't have access to poll. But I preordered. Have heard they will only get in a few Note2s per store when released.
I have preordered, but will ditch that preorder in a second if the store gets it even a day early.
I pre ordered.

Not preordering as I'd be buying full retail, and there is stuff I want to know about the phone before I spend $6-700 on it.
Preordered but will buy it in a store if the arrival date is later than the store is selling them.
I'm preordering if I can thru the military exchange store, no tax or shipping. Just not up yet for ordering.

Weird, sounds like your need a better account rep. I have thousands of lines and can preorder no problem. Do you have a VEC or B2B account to log in online with. Cause I know for certain I can pre-order with either. You have the option to ask for one to get setup to more easily maintain your account btw.
I pre-ordered on day one just to have a better chance at getting it before the store does. I even took two days off (Wednesday and Thursday) just in case I have to cancel my pre-order and get it myself that morning. I would rather go to the store and pick it up then wait for a Fedex truck if it's the same day.
I've been waiting for a Verizon Note since the original came out last year. I'm tired of playing with that sucker in the stores and I want it now!!!

Wanting this to happen to the Note 2 pre-orders.
Pre-order! The Verizon rep said that stores will have limited supplies at launch...
Picking up in store.
My sister picks up the tab on the bill and has had me on a legacy Alltel plan just voice and some texts for $10/mo extra. She and her husband are on unlimited data, but they're switching to the Share Everything plan, so I'm getting this to use for the same monthly bill. First time having a smartphone in service, I want to make sure it's one I'll keep for a while.
Also, I know it's highly unlikely for a pre-order item, but maybe there will be a BF/CM deal on it. Who knows? A guy can hope.
Probably going to wait until the phone is unlocked then by that time it may be cheap (reasonable) enough to purchase off contract, that or they will have announced when they're killing unlimited (then I switch carriers ) .

Why are they switching to the share everything plan? Tell them to keep it. I think 4gb shared is $50... my unlimited plan is 29.99, so x2 is only $10 more for no data restriction.
I'm trying out the Note 2 on US Cellular first, and if I like it after a week or so then I'll return it and pick it up at Verizon when it's released.

I'm not sure what she pays for her unlimited plans, but she said it will all come up to about the same price when she switches. I did encourage her to keep unlimited data, because I can live without an in-service smartphone.
Also, I forgot to include the main reason I'm picking up in store. Because she has to switch plans, if I pre-order, it'll knock my old Alltel phone off service until I get the Note II.

Nah, I want to play with the phone, see how it feels in hand, etc. I still wouldn't pre-order if I'm paying full retail. Pointless IMO as odds are that I can find a VZW store that has them in stock on launch day and go buy it if I want. I may even get it if it isn't unlocked as the S-Pen and multi-window stuff have me pulled in.

To each his own. Sprint had a model that didnt have anything connected so I was able to play around with the note 2 with no wires attached. Pretty sure after you toy around with it you will be hooked, so maybe it is better if you dont go lol
I remember reading something about people buying a phone on contract and then switching something on their plan so they only pay $10 a month extra. Anyone care to explain on how this is done?
I'd like to know this as well. I read up on the other method, but that involves already having an extra line.. which I don't, so yeah. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated
Add a line and buy a subsidized smartphone with that. You may have to add a data package at that time. Then immediately move the new phone to your main phone line and put a "dumb" phone on the new line and cancel the data for it.

this is true and ive done ii myself but best buy is an authorized retailer and can do anything that a verizon store can do. Whereas wirefly and other online retailers require you to modify your plan during checkout and this causes the change in data packages. So you bought your DNA at Best Buy on a new line, and then went to Verizon to switch the phones and lines? Did Verizon then let you downgrade the new line to a $9.99/month plan with a basic phone? And do you still have your unlimited data? Sorry to keep asking questions, I just want to be sure..
Update: For anyone interested, the Verizon stores near my location all said that this was not possible (maybe I was stupid for asking, but I figured I'd try). They went on about how I can't add a single line to my account without converting the entire account into a Share Everything plan, so I couldn't just add an additional single line.
One thing to rememebr if you need insurance get it within 14 days of your purchase date ,apparently people who got the phone before it has been exclusive to all stores which should be may 1st I was told by two reputable sources have no insurance option on" PREPAID plan ONLY"
It's because it hasn't made It into tmobiles system as a option for prepaid plans yet ...even tho every other phone is ,it will pop up the day it's released in all stores .....so make sure you go back and get it if you were wanting it and told u can't ,if you was one of the many who got it before launch..

you can get the Full PHP which is the insurance and lifetime warranty right now in any T-Mo store as well as with Customer Care. the T-Mo rep has to call in to Customer Care for your and ask that they put on the $11.99 bundle. I have had to do it since the 24th when the phone was put out in the T-Mo store i would in, but yes. You have 14 days to get PHP if you want it. You just have to make sure you don't do anything to the phone in that 14 days you have it.

I would agree to a point. some people out there have a high chance they will drop and break the phone. That means you pay $175 for a replacement instead of $580 again. Also remember that part of that 12 is a lifetime warranty. ppl that might want to keep this phone for a long will be able to change the phone out when the battery goes out for whatever reason. also not everyone knows how to flash roms and such so it is for the avg person that knows nothing. Trust i would never pay it but some people get it because of the risk of breaking the phone. Why do ppl get car insurance. Its because you have a chance to F up their car and want it fixed. Its the same idea. it all depends on the person. I have seen people come into my T-Mo Store 2 times within the 1st year because their kid throw their phone or their kid dropped it in water. That would mean they now paid 350 for 2 new phones instead of 1160 on top of the phone they already paid for. Its got its good points and bad points.

People get car insurance because its illegal not to carry it lol but I get your point. I guess I'm just careful with my phones... I broke the Hero (the LCD cracked internally, the external glass was fine... really weird) and I broke a Sony Ericsson T300 by throwing it on the ground in a fit of rage... Then again, I always put my phones in a case right off the bat (except for my Blackberries - never had to worry about those).
Then again, this is HTC... And I've had issues with EVERY HTC device I've ever had so maybe its worth it.
My guy said it wouldn't give the option In system when I paid outright price .. he said it could have been because it's not yet out fficially in all stores , what he did was scan a s3 for me and separately added the Insurance on my prepaid 70$ account and then told me once I activate the htc one it would just show that as my Device on my line and that the insurance would Carry over to the new phone .
It was a tricky way to do it but works , I only made the topic to help safeguard the option if others were noticing this issue on an outright purchase for this phone in particular

Yea there is two ways we can ring a phone out in our system at the store. The fast way which is a system called POS and the slower way which is called CHIU. if you go through POS, they haven't made it yet so we can add the $11.99 one, but if you go though CHIU it does it for you. This was a problem when the Iphone was put out as well. In the end if you have the $7.99, it will auto change to the $11.99 when the system sees you are using a phone that needs the $11.99 one.

Not every state makes you have car insurance. Some states its your choice. Not i think that is more down south then up north, but i am not sure. A little fact or being off topic.

Wait, what? Which state would that be?
I personally have thought about dropping the insurance from tmobile as when I got my Note 2 they changed my 7.99 plan to 11.99. That is basically 5 more bucks a month, which equates to 60 more a year. I have it on two phones now... So 120 a year. Ridiculous!
Going to shop around before dropping it, but how much higher can things keep going until enough is enough!
Tmobile does away with contracts to save people money, but find ways to raise other parts of your contract still, only if you have a tier E device though.....
Fancy pants Note ||
Wth, the rep and order shows 7.99 insurance and $150 deductible. No way in hell would I keep insurance if it is 12 and 175, that is Sprint level ;p. Definitely will go squaretrade then or keep my old phone on sprint.

4G LTE phone's don't activate using *228. Did Amazon also ship you a 4G SIM with your phone? If not you'll have to request one from Verizon. You can get a SIM when you activate your new phone's IMEI on on Verizon's website, where it will ask you if you have a SIM already (the iPhone 5 one doesn't fit) or to send you a new one. If they did send you a new SIM, you just go to Verizon's site and click Activate or Switch Device where you enter your new phone's IMEI and then the SIM card's ICCID and you're done. Of course if you don't have a SIM it's faster to go to Verizon and have them give you one.
Just pop your sim card in, don't press *228 it puts u on a 3g prl....

Yes *228 can cause major problems. That was only for 3g phones.

I ordered my S4 from Amazon a few months ago. They sent a sim with it, I put it in, went to the website and activated it and within a few seconds I was good to go. The instructions on what to do will be on the sim card package they ship to you with the phone. Just keep in mind that because you bought from Amazon they have their own separate termination fee, so if you break contract within I think 6 months you will get hit with a fee from Amazon.
edit: nevermind, just saw you said full retail, the fee probably doesn't apply to you
