For anyone who has ever bought from Amazon, I just bought a Samsung S4 at full retail from Amazon. When it comes do I have to go to Verizon to have it activated?
Yes, I asked this question at amazon's forums but they were less than helpful and couldn't give a concrete answer.

I think you should be able to swap sims and then activate using *228 could be wrong tho because ive never purchased that way.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.
I'll try that when it comes...I've got a iPhone 5 currently. I'll just pop this one out and follow what you said.
4G LTE phone's don't activate using *228. Did Amazon also ship you a 4G SIM with your phone? If not you'll have to request one from Verizon. You can get a SIM when you activate your new phone's IMEI on on Verizon's website, where it will ask you if you have a SIM already (the iPhone 5 one doesn't fit) or to send you a new one. If they did send you a new SIM, you just go to Verizon's site and click Activate or Switch Device where you enter your new phone's IMEI and then the SIM card's ICCID and you're done. Of course if you don't have a SIM it's faster to go to Verizon and have them give you one.
Just pop your sim card in, don't press *228 it puts u on a 3g prl....

4g automatically activates with the sim card

Yes *228 can cause major problems. That was only for 3g phones.

Corporate stores sim cards are free. Non corporate they'll charge you. Just so you know

I ordered my S4 from Amazon a few months ago. They sent a sim with it, I put it in, went to the website and activated it and within a few seconds I was good to go. The instructions on what to do will be on the sim card package they ship to you with the phone. Just keep in mind that because you bought from Amazon they have their own separate termination fee, so if you break contract within I think 6 months you will get hit with a fee from Amazon.
edit: nevermind, just saw you said full retail, the fee probably doesn't apply to you

Hey folks. I bought my mopho used off ebay didn't come with a sim card looking to buy one sprint want 35bucks seen some on the net around 10-20 bucks. Was wondering if anyone could tell me the name/model/type of sim card i need. Sprint just told me a price no specs thanks guys
edit: called sprint international they are sending me the sim card woohoo!
can delete this topic if you want because it is solved ill post all the specs on it when it gets here so anyone with this issue can refer to in accessories or general i guess

Sprint SIM card is useless unless you have a corporate rate for international roaming, or you really like being bent over a table by a TelCo and their international roaming prices. Best thing to do is to buy a cheap pre paid SIM card in whatever country you arrive in, they typically sell them in airports - saw some in a vending machine in Canada once.
If you never leave the US, its absolutely useless to have in the phone - took mine out when I first got the phone.
Ive got a unused unopened verizon wirless sim card that they sent me for my note 2. I really have no need for it cause i already have one in the note 2. I want to sell it dont know how much or if it has any personal info in it so i can sell it. Yes its still wrapped in the plastic and all but just want to make sure verizon didnt put anything linking it to my account or the phone. So how much would i be able to sell it and if theres anyone interested let me know.
They are free from verizon

Someone could technically activate it on your line I believe if you sold it. The network is waiting for it to become active and it's linked to your account. I'd say either use it, or destroy it. Even if it didn't have anything linked to you, the value would be minimal

Here's what happened to me (SG3's SIM Card went bad in August)....IF you go to a VZW Corp store, they're free, but if you go to an Authorized Resale Store, they'll charge you $25 for it. I'd hold on to it, just in case your current SIM every hiccups or flakes out.

$25? No, this is wrong. Maybe at SOME authorized resale stores they will charge you that much. I bought a 4g sim by my place for $5.

Anyone else buy the phone outright with an existing prepaid plan? If so, did your old sim card work right away? It didn't for me.
The clerk at the T-mobile store inputted my phone number into their computers but then proceed to place my old sim into the HTC One and I was on my way. When I got back to work, I realize that my phone still isn't detecting any network. Did the clerk screw up and I was supposed to use the new sim? Or was I supposed to ask him to sim unlock my phone?
Thanks.

Hmm thats strange, if its the old sim in your phone then you should have it already activated and it should work. I don't think it matters if they put your old sim in as long as it fits and is active. Why would you have to sim unlock your phone, was the old sim not Tmobile? I would call 611 and have them check, it could be just be an activation issue, which still sounds pretty weird

My phone works perfectly fine and I am currently on the $30 100min unlimited text & 5gb data. I simply took the micro sim out of my old phone and put it into the HTC One, but I came from a HTC One S if that makes any difference. Oh and I'm running the 64gb Dev Edition
What phone did you have prior? Was it not a smartphone?

was this a micro sim card that was put in your phone? Actually, your phone is suppose to automatically update to the new sim. If not, then please give the prepaid department a call and they will ask you for the sim card number they put in your phone and activate it with your existing prepaid plan.
Thanks for the replies. I switched my sim card back to my old phone for the rest of the afternoon. I tried again on the One when I got home and it worked this time. Kind of weird, but whatever. Been playing with my phone since I got home and loving it!
Do you mind letting us know how did you get the T-mobile HTC One on a prepaid plan? I called up the sales dep. and they said this phone was not available for prepaid customers yet!

I bought it at a local T-Mobile store. They didn't have a problem with it.
Tmobile makes u purchase either a postpaid or prepaid meaning you must attach new service to get to purchase outright cost .Meaning if u already have a prepaid SIM and owe nothing till next month In order to get any tmo Device outright you have to pay another months bill with the purchase of the new phone .
I tried to buy the I5 with using one of my two existing lines, they said an error came back saying I had to make a bill payment to get it for 579$ ,which means essentialy even tho bill wasn't due I had to pay 70$ again. Now I'm paid up till June ,same with the HTC one I got today had to pay for another months prepaid to get it for 579

Yes it is available for prepaid I got a HTC one and I5 on my existing prepaid lines and paid the 579 but u must pay another months bill if u already have prepaid because they set it up that way u can't no longer just walk in and buy a phone outright for the Cheaper outright price without paying some type of bill payment wether u have a line or need one .Kinda tricky but that's the deal
So ya you can get it for 579 on prepaid

I have been seeing a lot of these HTC One T-Mobile Branded phones unlocked on eBay in the last few days, I am wondering if these would work with T-Mobiles 1700 band but look at the description, it appears to be just a DE version but not sure why it says T-Mobile

1. There is no 64gb Tmo phone. This is likely a dev edition.
2. The specs on the sale do not list AWS. Therefore this is not capable of HSPA+. It will work on TMO, but only on EDGE unless you live in a "refarmed" area or one of the very few LTE areas.
EDIT: The big question is where he got the box. I suspect this is not the box the phone would ship in - if there even is a phone. Zero feedback on this seller is suspicious.

Well, like I said, I been seeing more of these T-Mobile Unlocked Phones lately, I would buy one and then just open a case about deceiving and fraud but rather not go through the hassle.
I saw a few 32gb ones
It seems really likely that if the phone is in fact the T-Mobile version in the picture, the seller just posted the wrong specs with it. Maybe they're trying to mislead people too with the "64 GB" claim in the heading. But I see a lot of sellers on eBay who just copy and paste specs from somewhere and aren't really describing the specific phone that they have in their hands. A lot of sellers just don't know that much about what they're selling.
So if you get the phone that's in the picture, I would expect it to just by the regular T-Mobile variant with 32 GB. There's no magical eBay source of 64 GB T-Mobile HTC Ones that don't actually exist anywhere else.
And as another said, for something so expensive I would never buy from someone with zero feedback.
The frequency bands listed suggests that it's m7_u rather than any of the LTE variants, but like others said, the listing is just sketchy. I mean, there are two possibilities: the seller has posted a mismatched picture and description, or has unearthed a unique T-Mobile variant never seen anywhere else (and still has the description wrong). I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to guess which of those is more likely...
My friend bought one advertised as so but just the 32gb
I ll update when he gets its
update: my friend got the phone, it was advertised as UNlocked factory 32gb T-Mobile branded, worked with T-Mobile right away (4g and all ) didnt come with a sim card though so he had to cut his

The only way I know of is to insert a different SIM card from another carrier. Also, was the phone really sealed?
If you live in a "refarmed" area, the 4G icon is going to show up in the status bar regardless of if it is 1900 refarmed or HSPA+.
EDIT: Removed some "Unlock" text, since that referred to the bootloader, not SIM. Sorry for those who read it first!

I tried to order it online nope out of stock. Tried buying it from phone service went well then it was cancelled. I went to a T-Mobile store tried to order it from there. Nope they have me some bull**** excuse they couldnt until the manager tried and after a few days it was cancelled. Again.
Finally i called them again place and order and got it . Paid overnight came 2 days after.
He paid 50 bucks more than me but he didn't go through the hassle I went throught. And it's supposedly unlocked we have yet to tried that out. My brother in law has a att version. Going to see if we can today.
He loves his phone he paid more than us but overall please. I kinda have mixed feelings for if because of all the hassle I went through.

I chatted with the Sprint reps one day and they said they were having a problem with their system. They couldn't order my sim card. They said they would order that night and send me a confirmation e-mail. I followed up the next day having no e-mail and the new chat rep completed the order. I ended up with 2 Sprint sim cards a few days later. If you get two sim cards, like you mentioned, are they interchangeable? Both of mine look to have the same identification information, according to the invoice. Curious why it might be a good idea to keep the extra one.

If the network is congested, you can bet the Fi network is taking a backseat. When its not, it wont.

Fi does not take a back seat ever. It is exspensive for a reason.
On fi if I roamed onto Verizon via sprint roaming I got 3g data, or LTE. On sprint with 40gyg data plan if I roam I get 2g data.
If sprint is slow on fi, or if it did somehow backseat which I'm fairly certain it doesn't, if there's a better signal from tmobile or att(roaming from tmobile) or WiFi it will simply switch to the faster network.... So it really should not be an issue.
Project fi 1 month I used 8 gyg 100$ just my 1 phone ......
Sprint 40 gyg family plan, 120$ 4 lines...
I love the idea of project fi but I used to much data and is not affordable for me.
On another note, anyone know if nexus 6p will be in sprints stupid white list or if I'll have to wait another dang week just to be able to activate it like n6 was? Via I clickitticket bs

Would also like this answered as well. Went through a huge ordeal to get a sim card through Sprint. They absolutely need a IMEI number since I don't have an account (been eyeing their unlimited data plan).
Anyway I ended up using my Moto X 2014 Pure as my device since it uses nano sim as well. First tried to order new service and get a sim online. The website referred me to place my order over the phone. Over the phone sales referred me to the store. The store referred me back to phone support. Finally customer support broke down and over nighted me a nano sim without an account at all. I'll have to go into a store once recieved to activate service. I'm just hoping that after providing the IMEI for the Moto X I'm not going to be stuck running through hoops once the 6P arrives.
took a few tries but finally got an international online rep to send me a sim. 3-5days for free shipping or $12 for overnight. don't have the phone yet anyways and doesn't seem like they're shipping the 128gb ones yet so free was fine for me
edit: first couple tries the rep kept telling me I had to call the international contact # to order the SIM. I was too lazy to call though at the time lol.
FYI, only order your SIM through Sprint Worldwide. I attempted the regular Sprint site and they were very unhelpful and wanted to charge me 35.00 per SIM (need one for my wife too). Contacted Sprint Worldwide and explained I just ordered a 6P and 5X and needed 2 nano SIMs and they replied asking if I wanted free shipping or $12 over night, no charge for the SIMs and no hassle at all =)
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
After all the run around they did end up overnighting me my sim no charge for shipping or the sim even though I offered to pay. Surprising as I don't even have a line of service yet.
Yeah I finally found a local store that had a boat load here in westwood. I grabbed 2 as my order from sprint won't arrive until tomorrow and I was just tired of waiting
I ordered mine through chat today, not the worldwide one. The person I was chatting with knew exactly what I was talking about, got it ordered and offered me faster shipping for free. Just got an email a while ago from ups and sprint saying it's coming tomorrow. That was quick.

Have any of you activated the phone yet? Once you get a sim card, how do you activate the phone? Do you have to take the sim and phone to the nearest Sprint store for them to do it or can you do it through their website?
