[Q]advide/help. ASUS Bootrom Unlocker does not work - cause:S#? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Long story short:
My goal is to root this TF201 (latest kernel&4.1.1).
A few weeks ago I successfully RMA:ed my bootloader unlocked transformer and got it back soon with a replaced motherboard.
Now when I try unlocking it through the ASUS Bootloader Unlocker app V6 it tells me something like "An unknown error has occured" every time I try to run through the procedure.
From what I've read in other threads it, the unlocker app, uses the devices' serial number and matches it with the ASUS servers, so my guess is that since i have the same SN as before it think that i'm trying to unlock an unlocked device which is neither allowed nor supported.
So my question now for you, more experienced and qualified, guys is: am i completely boned, or is there any other way to unlock via other software, or simply what would you recommend?
To me this device isn't really worth keeping unless it's rootable

[Q] Cannot Unlock Bootloader.

Hi everyone,
Today I have been trying all day to unlock the bootloader of my Transformer Prime. I keep getting "An unknown error occurs, which maybe network connection issue please try again later"
This started on .21. I've tried unrooting then rerooting, downgrading the firmware to .15. I've tried turning off the firewall on my router to allow for the app to communicate with Asus. I'm running out of options. Thanks for any help.
Oh, I did not have the Unknown Serial error.
I feel like this describes my entire day. I was able to unlock it this morning on .21, but like you ended up downgrading from .21 to .15. Thus re-locking the bootloader. After going through everything to downgrade I tried to unlock it again using the asus tool and I got the error you just listed. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

You can't relock the bootloader... If you unlocked you'll stay unlocked.

I realize your warranty is void forever, but the boot screen no longer says unlocked on startup so I'm inclined to think it relocked
Hi,
Did you get your tablet unlock?
I have this exact same issue. Tried the same steps, nothing works.
I have the same problem. Same error message. I heard around that u can only unlock the device once. I unlock my prime before I bricked it and send it in for repair.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
getting this same error, but my device wasnt previously unlocked or anything.

[Q] Unlocking serial unknown tablet

Is it possible to unlock an "unknown serial" tablet?
I haven't used the TF201 in a while and decided to just unlock and get a custom ROM. Found that I couldn't (I've been serial unknown since day 1 and never bothered to RMA). Anyway, I discovered Ratchet and set my serial number but that hasn't helped. Left the tablet running for a couple of days on WiFi and OTA updates and the unlock tool both fail.
So right now I have it on 9.4.2.15 with root (since I don't think it's possible to get root on any later fw).
Do I have any options?
Will Asus RMA it free out of warranty?
I don't want to spend any money on this and I'd prefer not to lose root, but if I can't unlock, I guess I might just manually update to the latest version. Is there a way to downgrade later (again without root or unlock)?
bump, any update on the state of unlocking?
I'd really like to get unlocked so I can get on 4.2 and have multi-user support.
But it's not a huge deal, I'm not using the tablet very much anymore

[Q] Stock, locked JB bootloader, unable to unlock/boot to recovery

I have a completely stock TF201 running 4.1.1.
I am unable to boot into recovery and end up with red exclamation error.
This has been RMAed three times due to charging issues and the ASUS unlock tool will not work (Getting the usual 'network connection issue' error).
I've talked with ASUS support multiple times with regards to the unlock tool and they dismiss it saying they will not support unlocking the device.
I have also tried asking ASUS support to get help with device tracker, even escalating the issue, and they have all said the same thing: "There is no problem on our end, we cannot help you."
Without being able to unlock the bootloader, is there any possible way to get 4.4 on this device?

Working unlocking tool

Hello,
I want to bring my dad's TF201 back to life. It's on stock but that's extremely slow & laggy so I want to flash a custom rom on it. The only problem is that the device is locked and de unlocking tool from ASUS does not work on my tablet.
It says that there is a unknown error and something with the connection. That could be a fault with the serial number but when I go to device info, the serial number is visible so that is not te problem I guess.
Is there a fix for it or is there another method to unlock the TF201?
EDIT: I succeeded to unlock my bootloader. After a lot of tryouts I got a popup to log in with my google account.
But that was my other problem, It was constantly saying that my password was invalid (2 step verification was disabled).
So I removed my google account from my tablet and after another try my tablet was unlocked.

Unlockable Bootloader - options?

After rooting my Z2 and backing up the TA partition, I've discovered that the bootloader is not unlockable (it's a Vodafone branded device).
Is there a nefarious way in which to bypass this? I understand that the whole point is to keep it locked, but it's an old enough device so I may have missed where it's possible.
Otherwise what are my options for an up-to-date custom rom? As indicated, I've already achieved root and have TWRP installed. I tried flashing Lineage via recovery but got an E: unknown command [log] error.
I'm in the same boat unfortunately. I bought a used phone that had Vodafone UK. It was marked as SIM-unlocked, and that seems to be true; the service info doesn't show any filled checkmarks nor counters in SIM lock information. However, bootloader seems to be locked forever - flashtool reports "Bootloader status : NOT_ROOTABLE" and phone's service menus also say that rooting status is "bootloader unlock allowed: no".
I wasn't even aware there are Sony phones that are not SIM-locked but are still boot-locked without any way to unlock.
I would really want to upgrade from Android 6 to at least 7 because there are some specific apps that work only from A7. Wondering if there is any custom ROM that would run on stock A6 kernel but with everything else from A7? It should be possible to install such a ROM even on a bootlocked device, right?
Since posting I've discovered some answers. The bad news is that, no, custom ROMs are limited without an unlocked bootloader.
The potentially good news is that you can pay for an aftermarket SIM unlock, which has the side effect of also allowing the bootloader to be unlocked.
I've not tried it myself, but do a search for "Sony cable unlock credits" for some leads.
Yea I also am stumbling upon this same news, in my city there are some shady areas so I will ask around and see if anyone is capable of doing it and will let you know.
So far my phone has bootloader locked, sim locked with 3 attempts left so I will work on unlocking those and then rooting the phone and digging deep after
Lets cross our fingers that somethings comes up
So far online , I find only old videos and outdated information, websites down and nothing else.
One thing is for sure, if your bootloader can be unlocked, you just go to sony official website and follow their instructions and its free and easy,
But if it says ""bootloader unlock allowed: no" then...lets see what can we do.
Hey I am willing to pay, why not if its going to unlock the bootloader 100%
