I recently got a galaxy player 5 international with froyo. I rooted it with no problems, but when I tried to flash a kernel with cwm recovery it would get stuck in a boot loop unless i went into the cwm recovery mode. I noticed that the kernel I used, rumirand's r14, was based off of GB and thought that might be my problem. I tried updating my firmware to GB using WT Ho's custom rom, and now it just hangs on the samsung logo, but I can still get into cwm. I made sure to wipe both caches and wipe data before installing the rom. Is this fixable or have I turned it into an expensive paperweight?
Did you try a factory reset?
I am not expert but i tried the same with R14 kernel and bricked but done the same with R13 and it worked .

Now or before installing the rom? I did a factory reset before installing, but I haven't done one since.

I just flashed the R13 kernel, but I'm still in the same situation.
Instead of flashing a new kernel there should be factory reset option on the first set you have or in "mounts and storage"
I had this problem once and I managed to solve it flashing a full rom (like 2.3.5 rooted and with rj kernel). It seems some users are having problems when flashing only the kernel. After you solve the problem, flash back group rom.
I just tried the rom+kernel. It said it was successful but it must not have been because it was hanging on boot again, and now it won't respond to the power button. If I plug it in to the computer it gets an image of a battery turns off and repeats.

Can you go back to CWM after flashing rom+kernel? If yes, usually it is a matter of wiping the data and Dalvik cache. Which ROM+Kernel did you flashed?

No, I'm not able to get a response from the power button.
I used the ROM + kernel you posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774
Hi guys,
I've really tried looking and I really cannot find a fix, thus this has forced me to come out of lurking and posting a thread to seek for help.
I wanted to flash back to a stock rom from my cyanogenmod10 to claim warranty for a broken digitalizer (touch screen completely not working), so my mistake was to flash via odin without wiping cache memory/factory reset and I forgot to use triangle away. (thought that i should have done that when I'm on stock rom)
so now my phone is unable to boot into home, it is stuck at the samsung logo, I can go into download mode but i have no way to get into recovery. (Holding the up vol + home + power just resets kinda restarts the phone)
Also, it seems like no matter how long I charge the phone, the battery level won't go above 10% on the standby mode charging screen.)
Anyone help ?
End of the day I really just need to get the flash counter back to zero without using the in-phone app to claim for warranty.
reflash the stock rom. if you do everything correctly, you would be able to access recovery

I've done that at least 3 times... using odin3 v3.07 flashed with I9300XXEMA2_I9300OLBEMA1_I9300DXELK1_HOME.tar.md5 selected only F.reset and auto restart, flashed using PDA.
The Odin tells me that flashing was a success but I'm still stuck, the last time i had this problem i settled it via clearing cache, but this time i cannot go into recovery mode anymore.

Try removing the battery.
Put back and go to recovery mode.
Then wipe data / factory reset.
Reboot.
Should work after that

I hope there is someone here that can help me though
Main concerns,
1) Reset Flash counter with computer.
2) Wipe Cache/factory reset function without going into recovery mode.
Take out battery, put it back in, press the three button Recovery combo and let go when you see the Samsung SIII screen. If you keep it pressed, it'll loop.
Do a factory reset then restart the phone.
Connect a mouse through an OTG cable and install TriangleAway to reset the counter.
Boot into recovery and factory reset. Should do the trick.
Good luck!

if you can get into download mode, flash stock via odin one. after that, you go to recovery and wipe
Go To Recovery And Wipe Dalvik And Chache And Factory Reset Hope That Works
Hi,
Yesterday I have updated my Galaxy S3 I9300 to Kitkat 4.4.2 using a custom ROM. While I wasn't satisfied with the performance of that custom ROM, I have downloaded the Stock 4.3 firmware and tried to downgrade it using ODIN.
All went smoothly till my S3 stuck on Samsung Logo while rebooting with 4.3 installed. It does nothing now except stuck on the Samsung Logo.
I am afraid that I did brick my phone.
Any help will be highly appreciated as I need my phone back to work urgently
Thanks...
Factory reset
Phone doesn't boot mate...so can't do Factory Reset...

Yes you can.
If you flashed with Odin, you will now have stock recovery. Boot into it by using power+home+volume up. And choose 'wipe data/factory reset' from the menu.
This WILL wipe your internal storage too, but since your phone isn't booting there isn't much you can do about that.

Ok so, after many attempts I decided to ask for help here.
Months ago my old s3 "died". My brother was using it and it rebooted itself. From then it's still locked on SAMSUNG boot animation.
I've tryed many solutions. At first I thought it was the power button because in the past it gave me random reboots so... I removed it
No luck.
I'be bought a JIG, booted in download mode (or fastboot? nevermind) and completely installed the original ROM and firmware via Odin.
Another time, no luck.
The phone it's still locked on boot logo. On battery it cannot go beyond the first black and white screen, on charger it stucks on the SAMSUNG colored and animated one.
I have tried to change the battery but still no luck.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Did you perform a factory reset from recovery mode after flashing a stock ROM and before booting the phone for the first time?

No I didn't. I'm going to try this and will report here, thanks.
Btw, flashing stock firmware doesn't wipe all possible datas?
No, don't reset if you don't want to lose all data.

Flash the stock firmware, factory reset, flash the stock firmware AGAIN. Remnants will remain if you don't flash twice with a reset in between.
