Well restore your EFS backup if you have one...
If you don't have it, there's a REALLY low chance of getting it back.
Other XDA members might know more about ths.
There is a function in the Samsung Kies Called "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" which is located in the Tools of the Samsung Kies 2.5.0.
I think it may help you with this problem because it asked you about the model number as well as your serial number which is unique. However, it will reset everything you have in your phone including it will reinstall the newest firmware so you need to take backup when you try and I am not 100% sure your problem will be solved at all.
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I don't have EFS backup and the "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" thing in Kies doesn't work either.
What do you think at official Samsung Service can they restore it for me?

Dear Sir(s),
I am facing problem in Samsung Galaxy s2 which is as follows:
I have a Open Sim Samsung Galaxy S2 (Indian Market) which I had upgraded to 2.3.5 unofficially from Samfirmware.com. After that I root it & upgrade too many times but all of sudden I am unable to make calls from it then I change the Sim card but the facing same problem, I cant understand the problem. Then at last I downgrade with I9100XXKI3 but problem is still as it is..
so please help me..
Dial *#06# and check see if your IMEI is ok.
Yep, check IMEI as above. If it is different, it may need to be returned to Samsung for repair.... There are a few threads in XDA on EFS folder being corrupted, and this is where the IMEI info is stored. Some may have had success repairing, bit most I've heard have restored an EFS backup.
Hope its not this though...... :-(

After too much Googling about IMEI restoration I came to know about EFS Folder, I dont have backup of that. but I took backup of OLD rom from CWM Recovery, Is it helpful to me..?
Yes replace old rom.
If that does restore your efs and imei then back up efs.
Multiple posts on xda re efs may help.

Yesssssss I have done it....
It will repaired from Samsung Tool Version11 of z3x box. Its very simple & Easy process....
So first and foremost 'I am a noob' and not sure if this is the right place but I consider this a question, with that said I shall explain my issue.
I have changed the firmware on my S3 to 4.2.2 and it was almost successful minus the lack of being able to connect to a carrier.
I have reverted back to 4.0.x and 4.1.x and i still have no service. I am with T-mobile UK and have seen on a nexus 4 based thread that an issue was that t-mobile doesn't work properly on the latest radio version so i flashed that to .27 (the recommended version on said thread) to no avail (I'm thinking maybe this only works for the Nexus 4?).
When i check available networks i get EE, 3 UK, O2 - UK, Vodafone UK, EE. Knowing that t-mobile and orange are now EE i assume the 2 EE options are just renamed from those, however when i select either option I get 'No service, selected network (EE) unavailable'.
I've also spoken to T-Mobile who essentially told me to go *profanity* myself and talk to Samsung... haven't spoken to Samsung yet.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

1st 7 are 0049990. How can I tell if it is intact?
Also Mobile data and roaming ARE turned on
Edit: just took out my battery and seen a different IMEI number first 7 being 3559940... is that going to mean bad things are in store for me?

Not good I'm afraid...your IMEI has become corrupted/deleted, 0049990 is a default one and that won't register on the network.
Did you back up your efs folder before you installed 4.2.2?

You have no EFS backup then all you can try is flash stock rom via Odin .
Fails its a service centre paid for repair .

Can you recommend any? the ones I have tried didn't seem to work.
Edit: Now that I know about the IMEI fault I looked for a solution and found this webpage but I can't test it because there is a broken link there just wanted to know if you think this could work.

That's a different variant of the S3 so I personally wouldn't recommend using that approach.
Get in touch as I suggested in the PM and I'll see if I can help.
Sorry for dropping out of contact, my dad took the phone and insisted he would solve the issue (which he didn't) so when I get home from work today i can start trying to fix it again. Obviously my warranty is voided so T-Mobile telling me to go to Samsung was stupid but i found out I got my contract from carphone warehouse which I forgot (thought i went direct to T-Mobile) and apparently they'll fix it for me... i doubt that very much.
Also I have an S4 now but still want to fix the S3 as i planned for it to be an upgrade for my mum (she needs an upgrade badly)

original stock rom flash in odin my problem sole i am try ok

I had the same issue. Flashing using ODIN did fix it.
Is this within the warranty if the device is "Bricked" or completly damaged when getting this issue?
Hi, Did you by any chance flash with a XXEMG4 or newer ROM.? If you did, then your EFS partition would of been changed. If after that, you flashed an older ROM, the older ROM would be unable to read the modified EFS.
You will have to flash with XXEMG4 or newer to fix. It might help, it might not.
Good luck!!

Try flash stock XXEMH1 firmware (incl.modem) Your probably ok with the new modem.
Goodluck!
Danny
Just download the original (Stock) Firmware (corresponding to your country) from Sam Mobile and flash it thru Odin... You should be all ok... You will get yor S/n and IMEI back...
Good luck!

Hey Guys!!
i am well aware that many of you have posted and replied to threads regarding subject above and also have seen/read many and also tried my level best to resolve my issue but still i am unable to restart or Recover or update my cell phone. Admins please help me as i am new here and hoping some humble and kind replies from senior as well as junior members. please dont shout on me as i am very much depressed what i have done to my Samsung Galaxy S-II already.
My Android was running 2.3.6 version and i tried to update it to jelly bean by using Odin and Android 4.1.2 XXLSR Jelly Bean firmware for Galaxy S2 I9100G ( Dont know whether my cell has letter 'G' in the end) and all was going well but in the last Odin said its Failed. for ur kind information i followed the procedure to update my 2.3.6 to Jelly bean using he guidlines given in attached image below.
Now my SII is stuck and keep showing this message only that Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again..
I am new and dont about kies and how to use it and whether it will work in my country (i.e. Pakistan).
Also i am unaware how to reflash, Boot etc (terms that i have seen in other similar threads).
I know i am asking for much but feels that this forum has some extraordinary developers too. Thanks in advance. Please reply if any1 has some solution.
usually it happens when flashing already in progess and already flashed some of the files to phone but fails on other files.
try open ur phone backcover and remove the battery.. look for the model number there(u will see it at the back of the phone when u're already remover the battery)
after that download the right firmware for your phone axcording to the model number and flash it again.. see if that fix your problem..

I tried searching firmware for above and following page (snapshot atached) has some latest firmwares to download for my GT-I9100 but i am not sure about what region firmware i should download. Whether i should go for XFM or any other region. I live in Pakistan please advise whether Region also is an issue.
firmware region is not an issue.. basically it was almost same as other firmware, only with diffrnt modem configuration..

Okay then!! Let me download one and check whther it solves my issue or otherwise. thnx buddy
Further u said in earlier reply that "download the right firmware for your phone axcording to the model number and flash it again"
Please tell wha is flashing. If i am not wrong, what i did with my cell in first instance using ODIN that caused me this problem is called "flashing"?
Sorry i am new in android world and unfamiliar with these terms.

Hello, i have recently remove a custom ROM and i replaced with an original firmware. Problem is that i don't have backed up EFS folder, and my phone is not connecting to mobile network. I have check the IMEI and is an generic IMEI not original.
How can i find which baseband is good for him?
Flash 4.3 stock firmware, if efs still corrupt then pay for a repair.
I have do that, but is not working .. network mobile can't connect..
Anyone has a solution for this problem?

Try to flash a firmware older than MG4 and start OTA-update. Perhaps this will repair your efs-data.
