anything negative, you don't like?

mainly the limitations & omissions that verizon put on the phone. we will get those taken care of shortly.
beyond that. the phone is great for me. coming from a galaxy nexus.

This phone is a beast. Also came from a thunderbolt and rezound. The screen is big, but u should already know that. Thats my only negative which isnt really a negative once u get used to it. Its funny I grabbed my buddies rezound and it felt like I was squinting. I highly recommend.

Ex TB owner here too. Trust me youbwint regret it. I sing then praises of this phone everywhere...way more than I did the bolt. To compare the two would be like saying the bolt is a grilled cheese and the note 2 is a t-bone steak both taste good but one is better for you and more filling. Pull the trigger. And if you used the kickstand on the bolt a lot then grab on of the many cases with a stand. The only thing i miss about the bolt is the ringtones and I downloaded about 2000 ogg files last night to get quality sounds on this phone. No big deal. Easy to root and easy to mod also. Anything else you need to know just ask. I'll be glad to answer questions you may have .

I bought the TB last year when it first came out, and it was a beast (back then) but I hated the battery life. Fast Forward, it's sitting in my Kitchen Drawer as an emergency phone in case the Spouse's SGS3 or my N2 ever flake out and I have to order a replacement. The N2 is night and day different-screen size, speed, battery, OS (obviously), memory, and more. You won't regret jumping UP from the TB to the N2.....just keep the TB around as an emergency spare, because that thing was built to last.

1st day adopter of the Thunderbolt here! Trust me when I say that the note 2 is light years better than the tb. If for nothing more than the MUCH MUCH better battery life, you should pull the trigger.

Had the Thunderbolt then the Galaxy Nexus. No regrets here at all upgrading to the Note2. I got used to the size very quickly. Now when I hold my old Gnexus it just doesnt feel right anymore compared to this. Running stock rooted with a few Mods and love this phone. Id say go for it.

No regrets.! Nothing negative coming from rooted thunderbolt! Note 2 is awesome!

i picked up my galaxy nexus for the first time in about a week. man, that thing is small.
i love this new phone.

If your TB was rooted, why not just pull the ringtones, et al over to the N2? I have several that I managed to drag (kicking and screaming) from phone to phone over the years. My upgrade is due in a few months. Will be getting an N2 unless something better comes along. Despite the amoled screen.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using one opposable thumb.

I also just came over to the N2 from the Thunberbolt. I LOVE this phone. I haven't even bothered to root yet, it's just wonderful.

I'm a TBolt user and ordered a N2 1:00am Sunday night (early morning of my upgrade date) . I think I'm really gonna love this device since this will be my second smartphone.

Good Choice!! As someone who once owned the TBolt and then the Charge, Bionic, Razr, GNex, SG3, DNA and now Note 2.. (Not going to list phones I didn't use before the Tbolt ) I can honestly say the Note 2 is the best of the bunch (if you can handle its size)

So would you still do it

My incredible is seriously on its last legs, and I have to move off of it. The rezound seems to have its share of problems, but the nexus is still m.i.a.
So ... For those of you with the rezound, with whatever annoyances you are dealing with ... Are you still happy you got it?

When I first heard of the big three phones (Rezound, Nexus, RAZR) coming out around the same time, I was torn as to which phone to go with. However, as I started looking at the specs on each phone, the Rezound stuck out as the clear winner for me. The fact that the RAZR does not have a replaceable battery and has the lowest screen resolution became deal breakers on that one. The fact that the Nexus does not have a slot to upgrade memory and the fact I had seen many discussions surrounding Samsung build quality became a deal breaker on that one. With that, the Rezound became the clear choice for me. I upgraded from the Thunderbolt. I have been very impressed so far. The screen is AMAZING on the rezound. The only downer for me with the Rezound right now is the lack of full root and S-off to be able to do some customization and hopefully improve battery life. Personally, I think the Rezound is a great phone!
This is a phenomenal phone and I have no regrets buying it, I came from an Incredible and went to the RAZR returned the RAZR and got the Rezound, haven't looked back at all.
I was gonna wait for the Nexus phone, but I'm not an AOSP guy, "sense" is what bought me.
It all depends on which skinned version you like best.
1) Vanilla
2) Blur
3) Sense
My only annoyance with it is the bloatware and lack of root, which is all VZ's fault, not HTC's. I think they did a wonderful job with the device so far. I loooove the screen, I really don't miss the deeper blacks from the AMOLED of the Dinc because the RZ is just so damn sharp!
I LOVE this phone! I came from a rooted, tricked out Dinc... Thanks to Nils and Joel.
Would I do it again? Heck yes!

That is precisely why I am looking forward to S-OFF to remove all the bloat! I know removing some of it should really help get more out of the battery and should make the phone run like a dream!
i used my inc the other day for the first time in two days, and i've gotta say, although the blacks were darker with amoled, this screen is so much sharper and i think the blacks on the rezound's lcd actually make reading whtie text a little easier, for example on the xda app wiht the dark theme applied. i love it!

same here totally agree. I did the same thing.
The only problem I have is battery life. It's about the same as stock Incredible life. I know once we get root that will be easy to fix though. I love Sense, so this was a no brainer for me. I can't wait until we start getting some roms out
I upgraded from the incredible and got the Rezound a few days ago, it's kind of laggy but I just read that a factory reset may fix the issue. I kind of want to return it and get the Nexus.

Why is not having soff and root an issue? It's inevitable that we will have it shortly. Is there a single phone.. htc or otherwise on these forums that is not rooted?

It makes it kind of useless to ask for opinions if only one is allowed to be expressed without being called a troll. Besides, he can't take it back now and get the Nexus, can he?
Anyway, the Rezound is by far the greatest phone I've ever owned. The screen is gorgeous, it feels great in your hand, and I haven't noticed any lag at all.
I Love the phone. It feels great in the hand and you can just feel the quality. I had a thunderbolt before this and I hook my phone up through AUX input in my truck EVERY time I drive it. The quality of sound that comes from the rezound is light years ahead of my thunderbolt. Like its a night and day difference, even in pandora the sound quality is WAYYYYYYYYYYY better.
Sounds like the phone is legit....i'm currently on a rooted TBolt and one can honestly say that there isn't much of a difference to the Rezound (albeit hardware), but seems like dev work has just come to a screethching halt and not that I need to be constantly changing ROM's every day (which I will admit to doing on certain occasions) but just feels outdated and a lost cause so root hardly plays a hand in this case anyways.
The rezound being a dual core 1.5 ghz phone certainly is appealing as well as the beats audio integration that I would certainly welcome since i'm always listening to music while running or in the car. Just want to pick your guys' heads on wether purchasing it justify's a bit of an upgrade, but not much per say. Any info is valuable and well appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Oh, another thing to add, the Beats audio only works on the native HTC Music app correct? Doesn't on google music nor Pandora or does it?
correct on beats, alpine.
as for the upgrade being worth it, well, it was for me..i came from the OG inc (july 2010) and although that's a damn good phone, i just wanted something faster and new...and i 100% love this phone, and would do it again in a heartbeat if i had to lol

I was able to get any phone with Verizon (work), it was either the Rezound or Nexus S. I choose the Rezound with the signal issues people were having with the GNx.
I have had the phone for 3 days now, fully rooted, and love it. Plus the $100 headphones are a nice bonus
I will say, Samsung phones have a screen that beats out every other phone I have seen. Their colors are just awesome. I believe they use some different type of LCD technology, at least someone told me that.
I had the GNEX for about a week, I traded my iphone4 16gb + cash for it, and it just wasn't for me, no matter how hard I tried. It was too big, the signal was just horrible. At home, I would be at around -80-90dBm while with the Rezound I am at -69-79dBm just like I was with my Inc2.
The picture is nice on the GNEX, but the screen scratches very easily, and the auto brightness was unusable, so that ate the battery up quite fast for me.
I was very happy to find someone to trade their Rezound for the GNEX.
HTC Sense is amazing. I like to have the mobile data, or wifi turn off while the phone is at sleep state, with the GNEX I couldn't even get one day out of the battery but the Rezound I can do a day and a half easily thanks to this.
Beats audio is great, and the headphones kick butt.
The Rezound is a very well built machine, HTC unlocked the bootloader and with the guarantee of ICS coming, that just adds the extra cherry on top!

Thinking about selling My Note

I thinking about selling my note because I think this phone is going to end up like the att skyrocket and barely have any devolpment. I know the art note is really new but I'm really missing my galaxy s2 and all the development for the phone. Do you think there alot of devolpers out there who actually are interested in this phone and the hardware. I see alot of people trying to develop stuff for the phone and they don't even have the att galaxy note. I'm thankful for all the developers we have but I just see this phone getting alot of roms expescially ice cream sandwich roms.

Although this is my first Android phone, I am completely happy with the current Gingerbread experience. I didn't buy the phone for GB or ICS, and although ICS would be much nicer, I bought the phone for the niche hardware factor. If you'd like to go back to your old phone, do it. I hope you're happy with your decision. If you decide to stay, good for you as well. No one here, myself included, will try to convince you to stay on the Note. It's your decision, just do what you want.
Here's a quick tip: Flip a coin (with like heads for stay, tails for leave) and in the air you'll know what side you want. I forget where I learned that.
I love the Note and could never go back to a Galaxy SII personally.
How about getting the international version? Sure you only get Mini 4G but there is a lot more dev over there and better battery life . Persoanlly I am pretty happy with the note and of the couple of ROMs we have for our AT&T version I plan to keep going with this bad boy. My wife has the GSII and when I use her phone I have no regrets sticking with my note.

Don't get me wrong I love this phone but I wish it was a little quicker and this is my second note because the first one was really laggy and froze all the time but the speaker on that phone was really loud when watching videos on YouTube now my new one is faster but the speaker is very low and I took it to att and they said it was fine and couldn't give me another one for that reason.

Hrmmm...having both the Skyrocket and the Note and comparing the levels of development I can't really agree with your statement...There is plenty of active development on the Skyrocket, and it seems to be growing every week. It took about 3 months for things to really pick up over there, I would expect the same with the Note
I could see your statement being true of say the LG Nitro...there just isn't much going on with that phone.
In the end if that is your only hang up (wanting more dev) then yeah I would say sell and get an international version, or a GS2...the issue there is how much longer do you think those devs will stick around? Within this year many of them will move on to the next great thing

Buyers remorse period if your under your 30 days. they have to replace it.
Galaxy S - took a few months to get going
Infuse - took a few months to get going
Skyrocket - took a few months to get going
Note... I'm guessing the same pattern will apply
In the end, it's all up to the owner of the phone what he/she wants to do. I use my Note for my personal business phone and get a lot of use out of it. It's great for what I do and saved me from having to get a 7" tablet. I had the Skyrocket and absolutely loved that phone. My wife ordered the Note for my valentines gift and I gave her the Skyrocket (finally got her off the iCrap) - she's wanting a new ROM on hers now. If you like the Note, stick it out. At the very worst, you'll get a ICS eventually. If all you really want is ICS, then you may want to sell it off and save the cash for the GS3.
If you are selling it, how much you want for it?

Ive thought about doing the same exact thing to go for the international version. I bought mine outright for $650 from AT&T being my area is appose to be getting LTE in June. But mine runs just fine on 3G, so i dunno. Could my Note be a tad faster? Sure but its deff not slow. So i dunno. I already lost $35 on a re-stocking fee for exchanging my White Note in for a Black one lol.
ive thought about selling my Rogers Note to buy the unlocked one also. It already has ics roms.
but Toronto has LTE pretty much everywhere i go and I LOVE the speeds. I dont know what to do. I mean ICS will EVENTUALY come to i717 but N7000 will never do LTE
The first month or owning a phone is usually people who either want the phone really bad or people who want to be bleeding edge and usually dump the phone prematurely.
Most people are either waiting for the price to come down used or are waiting for their upgrade. Devs will come with time, it seems 2 months is pretty normal for things to take off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Why do i read nothing but people saying the Note is laggy and they think no one is going to support it. Its been out not even a month. I came from the iPhone 4s which is always smooth plenty of support and quality games. I've used the gs2 for awhile and i gotta say this phone is pretty beastly. I'm on saurom with 1.83 overclock and i don't notice lag at all after its fully booted. After i got everything where i wanted it i don't miss any other phone ever and playing emulators even with a touch screen is a delight. i would neverswitch back at this point. Just for the fact i can't take a smaller phone seriously now. The international version sounds great but not for the price. This phone is more then enough for me. My only complaint is the screen gets dusty with this dumb speck case lol.

Well, because there is Lag. I am running the same setup on my GSII Epic Touch and my Note and even over clocked the Note is slower than the Touch. I hate that when I have 6 tabs loaded in Dolphin it often runs out of memory on my note and the scrolling is slow and the tabs don't always preload. Though it is not enough to say I would return it, it is enough to say "ARGH why the lag!".
So in answer to the OP, wait for your 29 days then decide. If you want to wait past your 30 days to see what the chefs come up with and end up not liking the options then you can always sell it and move to a phone that you think has better dev options.
-
Ok sorry i don't notice any but i also have no need for six tabs to be open. Do what you think is gonna benefit in the long run. this is my phone for the next two years in fourteen days our so after my thirty day and thus far i have been given no reason to return it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
When you guys say lag, are you meaning like you can count outloud "one one thousand" and it's taken maybe that long or half that long to open an application compared to X other phone?
I mean, I dunno. I'm not sitting here with three phones at the same time comparing each of them to each other. I came from a blackberry to a Captivate to an Inspire to a Thrill...those were laggy phones.
My buddy has a microwave that has higher watts. He was bragging about how much faster he could microwave burritos. I guess the 30 seconds he gets his food faster than me is a big deal to him. I suppose each of us puts importance in different things.
Now that i think about it my microwaves been a little laggy lately stuff is always cold. That's what i was understanding from all this myself. Why are benchmarks higher on the note overall if a sg2 is faster.or am i wrong?

[Q] Dump the G2x for the Galaxy S3?

I have been following along for the last week. Some of you may remember me from the G2x forums. Those that have/had the G2x know all the woes that came with it.
I am looking to upgrade tomorrow. For those coming from the G2x give me you thoughts on jumping to the galaxy S3. The good and the bad.
Thanks.
I was PMing a dude earlier and he said the only thing was the screen size and getting used to its size, everything else is an upgrade though... so like me you're gonna have to play with the phone in hand to see if that will be an issue, other then that do the upgrade I'd say, I'm going to do it sometime this week.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Is that a rhetorical question? Of course yes!
Heck yes upgrade.
I got it on Thursday and have not had to reset my data connection since! that alone makes it worth it to me.
I actually did have a good G2X though, I didn't have any issues with it other than the data not staying on.
This phone feels great holding it, the screen is very nice, and the battery holds a charge much better than my G2X.
No regrets from me.
update:
One down side (not for long I hope) is the TouchWiz. I am a stickler for vanilla android.
G1->Rom'd MT3G Slide->G2x
Hopefully we get some good Roms cooked up for this phone, I can't wait!
yes, definitely upgrade. I upgraded from a rooted g2x running hellfire sandwich. Anything you disliked about the g2x is basically solved by the GS3. fast fast fast... it's handled about everything I've thrown at it. GPS is super fast too. The lightweight feel takes getting used to, but it definitely feels better than my original galaxy vibrant did. The screen is gorgeous, and battery life is great. I have a tough time discharging it to "condition" the battery and often end up with still 40% by bedtime.
The downside is... brick/mortar stores have next to no accessories for it yet. =P
Hell yes! I did and no Regrets!

Smart choice bro, I think I remember you from the G2X threads from a little over a year ago.... Even GS2 was a huge step over the G2X lol, but yea man you made the right choice. I personally got the International GS3 for gaming purposes but the US version is just as great.

Better than the Atrix?

I kinda wanted to just say thank you for all the hard work Devs! :good: I've been a member for alil while now, and have used just about every Atrix rom there is, or was, used every mod, and tried things people said weren't stable, just cause..lol I've also never had to ask a question about them, for the simple fact. If the Dev didn't describe it so "I" could understand it, I read other peoples comments, or just SEARCHED! works every time :good:
Now I am ready for the dreaded upgrade..lol I can't seem to let go of the Atrix!! I've had none of the problems others have had, it's the perfect size, fast, stable, and regardless of BM scores, blows the doors of my friends new phones.
So thanks guys, keep up the good work, and I'll be here till the Atrix dies, or something I just can't live with out, comes out.
Go for a RAZR HD!
I'm on att, so if i went that root(no pun intended) it would be to the Atrix HD. I have a friend with that, and the 2.. Kinda always a funny joke, Cuz mine is the "OG" and still runs as good, and as fast..lol
I'm sure in the next few months something will be out that tips my interest. Till then, i love my atrix !! Lol

After the way Moto treated us with the promised ICS update, you'd be risking it by buying another Motorola product.
I'd get anything but Motorola. I'd probably get a Galaxy Note 2, an SIII or an Xperia phone.
I would go for the LG Nexus 4 or SONY Xperia T
Didn't really mean for it to turn in to another "next phone thread" lol But because it did..lol
No i wont be picking up another moto device, unless they make the next, nexus.. They have to leave it open then..right? :screwy: i do like that Samsung has still stuck with a removable battery, but for some reason I'm just for the most part not a Samsung guy..i donno. To be honest, been keeping my eye on the optimus G section. Also the girlfriend has a ion, and I'm not a big fan either. Although, prior to smart phones all my old phones had been Sony.

That whole non-removable battery thing doesn't impress me mainly because there are times where I have had to remove the battery in my Atrix because the device had become unresponsive, and that was with unmodified stock gingerbread. Can you imagine how that would work out with a botched update?
And yeah, the devs here really are amazing.

Phones without a removable battery are reset by the power button. No matter what is frozen of how it's frozen, holding down the power button will always turn the device off. It's just like holding down the power button on your computer to kill when it's frozen.

It's so hard to leave the Atrix. I recently got one so I'm not looking to upgrade, but my girlfriend is. I tried and tried to look for a better value phone and I honestly can't find one.
You really can't find anything with similar specs for under $300. And the Atrix is selling on amazon for under $200!
If that new kernel gets off the ground we just might be happily stuck with this device for a good while longer
I think I'm just gonna keep going with the atrix till it craps on me. I got it only a month after it came out, and have never had an issue with it. Right now running PA 2.99.
Many choices.
There are so many great choices right now. Note 2, Nexus 4, Galaxy S3 are all great phones! The note 2 and s3 have great community support as well.
