Unrooting - AT&T LG Optimus G

Haven't seen this anywhere so I thought I'd ask. How would one go about unrooting the LGOG? I rooted mine (didn't unlock), but have to return it thanks to a split seam. I just need to remove root. Thanks ahead of time.

It's actually in the same thread where you got the info for rooting and unlocking.

You obviously didn't look very hard... whatsoever.... I mean, you didn't look at all actually. And that's quite discouraging.
You don't even have an international Atrix which was a bit of a struggle. It is dead simple to unlock the bootloader on your phone. But I won't tell you how. If you can't find the thread and read the instructions on your own you'll probably fail. If you can find the thread and still have questions I'd be more than willing to help though.

I'll be a nice guy though. The thread is found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Go there and read everything. The step-by-step breakdown is here - http://goo.gl/vfUXc
Between these two links you will definitely unlock your phone with ease.

Dumb Queston but Please answer Respectfully

I just "updated" my Galaxy Note by using Odin to install the new leak 4.0.4 and was wondering if somebody could point me in the best direction for rooting my device. Not a "noob" but I'm new to Samsung in general. I don't want to brick my device or possibly mess it up in any way. Also I would like to be able to install further releases of leaked roms and root again. Any advice and information would be helpful. Thank you

You are respectfully asked to read the stickies that answer your dumb question
as far as i know you need to flash clockworkrecovery odin version, after that you can use cwm to flash superuser file that will give you root. read "official" leak thread, it has been covered few times.
Thank you. Figured that would be the response lol I'll do that

Everything begins with ODIN. Flash Leak thru ODIN then flash CWM recovery thru ODIN. Then download the SU 307.zip and flash thru CWM. That is all you need to do to root your phone. You should be able to do everything in less than 15-20mins.

Pretty much any method is fairly streamline now. There's a root toolkit that does all the work for you, all you have to do is enter in a number that relates to the command when you run it. Be certain you are using the proper root method for your carrier and follow all instructions carefully.
Tripping the flash counter happens when you flash your recovery via odin. It triggers the built in counter in download mode to show that you have "tampered" with the device, and therefor can be refused warranty work. To avoid this, use either ADB through command line, or terminal emulator.
I usually don't post this..... but.....

I agree that there is a lot of posts all over the place but to all fairness, there is posts in this same section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722344 that shows you exactly what to do to root.
I agree that you NEED TO READ. If you aren't willing to do the research you're going to have an expensive brick instead of an amazing phone running Jelly Bean roms or whatever you choose.
Also, don't just rely on one thread. Read multiple so you see opinions and suggestions.

Don't think it matters if you trip the flash counter any more there's an app to get rid of it Triangle Away. Also be careful many people have Lost there Imei# and now have a very expensive mp3 player. Might be a good idea to wait until they figure out how to back up imei first.

I literally got my phone, read here for 30 min and had a rooted phone in 45 after the phone arrived. Bottom line is u didn't read. Don't give me that shot that there are so many threads. Check the stickies. It's right there man. Sorry to be a ****, but I can't stand lazy people.

I think it's funny how quick everyone is to tell people to read - When there are likely many threads that you've started that a google search could've solved in 5 minutes. He had plenty of other questions that had nothing to do with how to root his device. Yes reading can help solve most of his issues, but when you have the possibility of turning a 600$ phone completely worthless, it doesn't hurt to ask questions.
Really, get over yourselves.
Good call I have spent probably a week reading not only this forum but others as well and find numerous conflicting methods for rooting. There's nothing wrong with asking that's why there's a questions forum to begin with.

I bet you upgraded from iphone(like me). Coming to your question, it depends on the model you are on. Check this galaxys3root dot com . Max got videos for rooting all models of S3. They are pretty much simple. happy rooting!!!

It is pretty straight forward. Make sure you have the drivers installed before rooting. In short, follow the instructions to the point. If you are worried about tripping your flash counter, there is a specific root method you follow. If you do not care, then you can use the tool kit. If you look through the posts in the development section, you will easily find it. PM me if you need help.
When I plug my phone into computer it finds my device drivers. Will that work or do I have to download them from the link provided?

Need Help in Rooting this Baby!

I have some question regarding to rooting the DNA. I used to root a lot of android phones except HTC, especially Droid DNA. I follow all the threads but still no go. My question is this whether I need to unlock bootloader first before I can root the DNA. I tried every lead out there to unlock bootloader but was unsuccessful every time. Please help!
Search for jcase's method of unlocking the bootloader. If I find the link ill post it

Hanging out in the IRC room I see approximately 1-2 per day. Always the same thing, not following directions. Make sure you copy and paste the commands DO NOT TRY TO TYPE THEM YOURSELF. I see people brick all the time because they typed the commands themselves and missed something. Also if you see anything that even SLIGHTLY resembles an error, go to the IRC room and ask for help. DON"T REBOOT. Sorry for yelling.

I know you could root the Galaxy S3 without unlocking the bootloader. Does anyone know if I could do the same on the DNA? I want to use some apps that require root access but I don't want to void my warranty by unlocking.

Can the new OTA be rooted / flashed custom recovery / etc?

I got the DNA about a month ago but when getting it Verizon did the update for me.. while "showing me the ropes".. even though I easily know more, but anyhow I'm stick with it. But it seems like I have to unlock the bootloader to get the recovery to root to flash Rom. But I'm unsuccessful even getting the bootloader unlocked for this ota for this phone. Is someone working on this or maybe I'm missing the current fourm? Thanks for any direction but I'd like to sometime test ubuntu on this quad core beast .. and get the bloatware off of it!

Wrong section. Doesn't belong in development .
Have you read any of the threads in the DNA general or q&a sections?
From my S-Off DNA
For the 1000th time, no, unless you want to send your phone off to be jtagged you cannot unlock/soff/root your phone.

My phone updated as soon as I turned it on (my 3rd replacement.....I keep dropping them) and they were able to jtag my phone and s-off. Worth it for anyone who;s been updated for whatever reason.

Sorry for wrong section and yes I have tried to search before but many people saying many things. So thanks for clarifying with the extra info on where to send it too.
