Need Help in Rooting this Baby! - HTC Droid DNA

I have some question regarding to rooting the DNA. I used to root a lot of android phones except HTC, especially Droid DNA. I follow all the threads but still no go. My question is this whether I need to unlock bootloader first before I can root the DNA. I tried every lead out there to unlock bootloader but was unsuccessful every time. Please help!

Search for jcase's method of unlocking the bootloader. If I find the link ill post it
Sent from my HTC DNA.

This should be the link to jcase's method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34582289

Just follow it to a T and you'll be good. Couple people in that thread have already bricked their phones, probably from not paying attention.

Hanging out in the IRC room I see approximately 1-2 per day. Always the same thing, not following directions. Make sure you copy and paste the commands DO NOT TRY TO TYPE THEM YOURSELF. I see people brick all the time because they typed the commands themselves and missed something. Also if you see anything that even SLIGHTLY resembles an error, go to the IRC room and ask for help. DON"T REBOOT. Sorry for yelling.

I know you could root the Galaxy S3 without unlocking the bootloader. Does anyone know if I could do the same on the DNA? I want to use some apps that require root access but I don't want to void my warranty by unlocking.

Pretty much any method is fairly streamline now. There's a root toolkit that does all the work for you, all you have to do is enter in a number that relates to the command when you run it. Be certain you are using the proper root method for your carrier and follow all instructions carefully.
Tripping the flash counter happens when you flash your recovery via odin. It triggers the built in counter in download mode to show that you have "tampered" with the device, and therefor can be refused warranty work. To avoid this, use either ADB through command line, or terminal emulator.

I agree that there is a lot of posts all over the place but to all fairness, there is posts in this same section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722344 that shows you exactly what to do to root.
I agree that you NEED TO READ. If you aren't willing to do the research you're going to have an expensive brick instead of an amazing phone running Jelly Bean roms or whatever you choose.
Also, don't just rely on one thread. Read multiple so you see opinions and suggestions.

Don't think it matters if you trip the flash counter any more there's an app to get rid of it Triangle Away. Also be careful many people have Lost there Imei# and now have a very expensive mp3 player. Might be a good idea to wait until they figure out how to back up imei first.

I literally got my phone, read here for 30 min and had a rooted phone in 45 after the phone arrived. Bottom line is u didn't read. Don't give me that shot that there are so many threads. Check the stickies. It's right there man. Sorry to be a ****, but I can't stand lazy people.

I think it's funny how quick everyone is to tell people to read - When there are likely many threads that you've started that a google search could've solved in 5 minutes. He had plenty of other questions that had nothing to do with how to root his device. Yes reading can help solve most of his issues, but when you have the possibility of turning a 600$ phone completely worthless, it doesn't hurt to ask questions.
Really, get over yourselves.
Good call I have spent probably a week reading not only this forum but others as well and find numerous conflicting methods for rooting. There's nothing wrong with asking that's why there's a questions forum to begin with.

It is pretty straight forward. Make sure you have the drivers installed before rooting. In short, follow the instructions to the point. If you are worried about tripping your flash counter, there is a specific root method you follow. If you do not care, then you can use the tool kit. If you look through the posts in the development section, you will easily find it. PM me if you need help.

Its relatively safe. Just as long as you do research and know 100% what you are doing.
The risk, like almost anything is a brick and bootloop.
Please take some of my advice and avoid stress and hassel. Research and understand how to root then before rooting, research and learn how to recover your device from a bootloop, soft brick etc. Only when confident and you have all necessary info then proceed to root. Once rooted immediately back up your efs folder numerous times in different locations PC laptop dropbox etc. Do this and avoid hassle i didn't and got a bootloop. I panicked thought it was broke put phone in washing machine to hide the fact i had rooted it and claimed on insurance (£50 excess). With proper research could of fixed it myself in 5 mins. Happy flashing .

I agree completely, send it off and have it JTAG'd. Turn around time is real quick. Having an unlocked phone is that important to me too so before I buy a phone I do my research and know exactly what I'm getting into. You got lucky with the DNA though because of it having the ability to be unlocked via JTAG. I definitely recommend proceeding it's an amazing phone.
The reason that you're getting a hard time is because a quick google search, site search, or reading through one of the many threads you mentioned seeing would have answered your question. It's nothing personal, and the good thing is that people are quite forgiving around here.

I am gonna have to close this thread. No offense to anyone here, but there is too much confusion.
Just to make everything clear, I have NOT discovered a fix for the ME7.
Again, this is a free service. Paid-for advertisements are not allowed on XDA. I am doing this as a service to the community and will not ever accept money for it. Continue reading please
Just remember that there are people out there (like the developers that make your ROMs and MODs) that need this more than you and that actually need their devices (immediately) functioning properly to continue development and work on your bootloaders. And requesting my help could possible delay me helping them.
That's not to say that only developer's woukd need a service like this. There are extreme circumstances that I am sure will arise and that have in the past. Just make sure you have a good reason. That's all I ask.
And to the Developers/Contributors/Etc., please DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK. The answer is YES.
I can use JTAG to bring a device to a state where it can then be flashed with the MDK via odin. This is nothing new. JTAG has been around forever. It just takes the S4 to a sort of generic state where any stock odin firmware can be flashed. Whether it be ME7 or some other/future update, it can be done and I have recovered my SCH-I545 from an OTA ME7 update at least 5 times and brought it back to MDK to re-unlock and re-root.
JTAG isn't anything to mess around with or anything that can be learned overnight/a week/a year/etc. Its very dangerous. There are services you can pay for on eBay for recovering bricked devices, but there are very few people that do it. And even fewer than that who know how to do more than just unbrick a device. I myself am at the very bottom of the totem pole I'm regards to JTAG. But, I have unbricking/downgrading any of the S4 variants down to an art. And that's about all I can do really well. I am trying to work on the bootloader also, but it is very difficult stuff that I am learning more about everyday.
I mainly wanted to share this with contributors and developers and anyone else that really really needed their device to be fixed (for a good purpose). Or anyone else that was in need of this kind of help badly.
