Stop bumping the thread every few minutes. Please wait patiently.
1. Smack your friends
2.Try cleaning the usb port, and see if that works.

That's not good, lucky you've posted in the right place - however I don't think a new thread was necessary there are positively hundreds of people with your issue.
Once I was walking along the pavement when a Lamborghini Gallardo passed me and engaged it's nitrous at exactly the same time to race the Ferrari Enzo driving alongside it, the sudden burst of speed caused a strong wind to knock my phone out my hand and onto the pavement where it settled about 20 meters away from me. Luckily I knew about XDA! Just a few minutes of searching and I found the thread "[Q] Supercharged sportscar smashed my phone need help" which had all my answers.
I'd suggest searching for "friends sprayed my phone with water" and see what you find, it worked for me!
(maybe it's because the search function on XDA is so well implemented!)

Clean usb port. Most likely the usb flex will need to be replaced
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Talk to your friends. They messed your phone. They are accountable for having it fixed. Or else go to their parents. Stupid kids.

just clean the usb port and pull out the battery and see if the battery is wet , if its wet , just put that battery in the sun for couple of hours and it should be fine .. you should have pulled out the battery as soon as water was on your cell phone thats the safety for you phone as when battery is wet , its really harmful for the phone .. anyways, just try to clean USB Port and check the battery.. !

COFFEE on my XDA!!!...

i accidentally spilled COFFEE on my XDA!!!!
we all have some accidents with our XDAs and mine involve coffee spilling on TOP of it or the TOUCHSCREEN...and it was still vey hot.
what happened after was this...SINCE it was WET already, i knew that if there were COULD be the possibility of SHORTS on some circuits as the UNIT was ON, anyway IT IS ALWAYS ON...no time to remove the battery immediately.
SO I removed the battery..CLEANED the EXTERNAL PARTS..then place it to to DRY awhile at room temp. after 15 minutes, since i could not wait I TURNED IT ON...AND IT BOOTED and was NORMAL....
then i started TESTING IT TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, FINDINGS:
1. END CALL key, works like the CALENDAR KEY.
2. had ALERT that my BACKUP BATTERY was VERY LOW. (understandable, since i took out the MAIN BATT, when i viewed it, it was at 50%)
3. IT WONT CHARGE using the PORTABLE BRANDO sync and charge CABLE (well something is wrong with this cable anyway, will wait if it doesnt charge using my ORIG charger, im still at work)
4. THERE ARE GRAY SPOTS ON THE SCREEN ( i guess this is the permanent damage due to the HOT coffee)
ON THESE OBSERVATION..CAN AN EXPERT TECH PLEASE ADVISE ME ON WAS I LUCKY THAT THESE ARE THE ONLY DAMAGES AND WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS especially the SCREEN....
I think CLEANING it WITH CONTACT CLEANER WILL SOLVE some of these problems, im far fom SERVICE CENTER and the sevice for XDA here in the philippines is not that FIRST RATE either. SO ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE...???
Thanks
...bad luck man... sorry... (
I would say, wait couple of days, until it's really dry, and then test it again.

GOOD NEWS
Heres one to XDA DURABILITY.
well, im an impatient person and I dont like to think that MY XDA cannot survive a COFFEE SPILL, it may even survive a nuclear SPILL, hehehe.
BUT NOW MY XDA IS 100% OK....in case something like this happens to you..here is what i did.
FIRST..i forced dry it inside a high humidity airconditioned room, AN AICONDITIONED ROOM DRIES you skin...why cant it dry the insides of you XDA...heheh. JUST A SILLY IDEA.
SECOND..BUY an ELECTRONICS CONTACT CLEANER and SPRAY all AREAS that was SPILLED BY FLUID..COFFEE or WHATEVE...BETTER STILL SPRAY INSIDE THE XDA....this will dry up immediately so dont worry this will not destroy your unit. (do this with BATTERY removed)
THIRD...when you are certain that your unit is completely DRY...CHARGE it for a LONG TIME to allow the heat of charging to evaporate whatever moisture is hiding.
ON FIRST STEP...My XDA still had END key PROBLEM and SCREEN GRAY AREAS.
ON SECOND STEP...GRAY AREAS on SCREEN mysteriously vanished, and END KEY WORKS..but now..NO SOUND can be HEARD..AT ALL.
ON THIRD STEP..SOUND was restored and evrything is back to NORMAL...running for 24 hours already.
congratulatios ))))))
You've got very GOOD LUCK.

Alway remember, hot or cold drinks never mix with an XDA...
yup, i was very lucky, gosh, my XDA was really soaked.
now everythings all right and my XDA has a distinct COFFEE smell...hehehe
NICE.....MORE DECAF PLEASE....

[Q] My SGS2 is restarting and doing strange things

Hi All,
Yesterday my SGS2 stared doing some strange things. Self restarting, connecting to charger without any cable in it! Switch on from a sleep, then self restart...
I did hard reset tonight, and today about few hours its the same....
Of course that I have installed many of applications as before this problem. But I dont know if it is a problem of some application....
Any idea how to fix it?
Many thanks
Can it be caused by battery?? I have this phone almost 6 months...
Are you on 2.3.6?
If not, flash 2.3.6 or another rom just try it
i think your battery is not the problem
no, I have stock rom KI4 2.3.5 ... till now was everything OK
I found now an app (need for speed hot pursuit) which was moved on sd card (I don't know why, I didn't move any apps on sd card), just its deleted... we'll see
second factory reset, without any new applications installed = the same.... spontaneous restarting.....

I am not sure .. I think Power key will be the problem
Do diagnose pls do below steps
1, Just power off the phone & remove the battery for 2 mins
2, then plug the battery & don't power on
3, Wait for 5 mins, if it automatically powered on then power key problem.
If not then something problem in only ROM.
formated SD Card, I saw that there was also some files created by Android system... Now it seems, that 1,5 hour is everything OK But never say never
I Know this is a month old but was wondering if everything is still ok with the random restarting?
The reason I am asking is that it has been happening to my SGS2 though I believe it may be slight, v.slight water damage; as I was walking in a rain shower at the start of the week and realised my phone USB port was partially exposed to the elements, and after a few days it started to exhibit the same symptoms.
Currently the phone is sitting in a bag of rice in the hot-press to try and extract as much moisture from it.
If anyone else has any experience of similar problems, your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Same **** happened to me when I dropped my s2 in snow. The problem is in USB controller. There are two ways. first is to change USB controller in service centre. The second is to try to clean it yourself with isopropanol and brush
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Took the phone out of the Hot-Press and bag of rice earlier to day and it has know been successfully fully charged (not charging was another problem); will continue to monitor the situation (not difficult since half of my life is on the phone...).
@beeboss: Thanks for reply, was wondering what kind of brush, Toothbrush? soft/hard? I expect that cleaning it yourself is a v.delicate job, it wouldn't put me of doing it, it's just better to have the correct equipment as I've came across corrosion of circuits on a bigger scale and I cant see scraping it with a v.fine scalpel to be a good thing in the case of the phone; Though I did not have isopropanol at the time of the big circuit corrosion...
Thanks for the help

My Galaxy S II dropped in water and i want some help

Hello community.
I have a serious problem and i want your help.I read all the articles about dropped in water but i can't solve my problem. So i am starting from the beginning.
Yesterday my phone was dropped in the toilet for 2-3 sec (stupid i know). I took it, i remove immediately all the parts (battery, sim, external sd) and i start blow with hairdrier (mistake i know) after 2-3 hours i try to switch on the phone with no result so i continue my stupidity... I connect the phone on the charger with no result but as i noticed the back of the phone was warming. After that i read the articles (the first correct thing). So i put the phone in a rice inside a Tupperware and i wait for 8 hours. Then i start the phone and WOW it was working fine for only 10 sec. Then a battery message appear that i must charge the phone and the screen went black but the sounds and the touch was working. So i close the phone and i put it in the charger ( i know,,, i know...) After 10 min i remove the phone from the charger because was warming. I tried to switch on but the screen continue to be black and the sounds and the touch working... So i remove again everything and i put it in the rice again until today 2 hours ago.
I switch the phone and the phone started and the screen working except 1/4 of the screen in the above right place. So i close the phone and i put it in the rice again.... I noticed that when the phone is closed there is difference in colour between the black screen that working and the black part that is not working. So after again 2 hours in the rice i noticed that the black screen that is not working start to expanded in the left top side of the phone... and i am wondering, this thing is a water or something from the screen liquid?
Please help me if you can. I will appreciate your help.
Michalis Michael
I don't know if anyone can help you, it is a smelly affair.
If you were using some kind of disinfectant inside of your toilet (especially the smell of the sea or green apple) you have a huge problem.
More seriously, the layers of the screen stratify from each other. You can only replace whole screen, but I suppose that the rest of your phone also will die sooner or later.
Sell it as defective. Repair will be too expensive.

Dear friend i appreciate your knowledge and i want to inform you that inside the toilet their was NOT any kind of disinfectant inside.
Any suggestion except of sell it as defective???
Okay, don't be nervous, just kidding.
No, unfortunately there is nothing you can do yourself, only replace faulty screen. You just can't stick your digitizer to screen with somekind homemade tricks. And I don't want to worry you, but I'm afraid that there will be also micro corosion on your phone motherboard.
If you really want to try to reanimate it, than you must take it apart, dry all components with rice method or better by using special adhesive liquid used in electronic to remove all wet.
If the glue from the screen has not been rinsed completly than you can try to squeeze layers by placing a book or something heavyweight and flat on top and simultaneously heat it with a hair dryer. Repet this operation few times without taking out weight.
I really doubt that this will help much but if you really wish to try than go ahead. You can always sell it after that. Even in parts.
There is somewhere on this forum instruction how to unscrew i9100 completly.
Good luck.

I will give a try.
Before try your tricks my friend i am informing you that the whole screen went black.... (Ohhhhh).
I just want to know.
The screen was broken or there is water inside the screen? (If you know)
Where car i sell the phone for parts or as a defective? (i ll give a try at ebay but if you know somewhere else give me a hint)
Thanks again guys
Theres guys on here that have went swimming with their phones and they still work.Youd only get about £130 max on eBay for the phone if you admit its water damaged.
Youd be better soaking the phone in that alcohol stuff then drying it via rice for a week.
What can you get for £130.....

wet s2

I recently got my galaxy s2 wet in the rain while running around in very stormy weather (people in Brisbane, Australia will know what I'm talking about). I dried my phone out quite well, with no problems but one. Sometimes when I call people, or they call me, the phone will completely turn off. This never happened before and is really quite annoying. The amount of time it takes for the phone to shut down varies, some times it takes 2 seconds and sometimes it takes 30 seconds.
What I want to know is if this problem will persist forever, or is there is anything that I can do. I'm leaving my phone overnight without the battery in in rice for the next few nights to see if anything will help.
If it helps - due to my idiocy - I left my phone on when it was wet and decided to also charge it (where moisture most likely got into the charging port). It had small problems before such as thinking it was still charging when the charger was not in, and that the voltage was too high when I was charging it, but all those problems have disappeared, and the only problem now is the infrequent and annoying phone shut downs when I'm in a call.

This just ensures the phones grave is big enough to be buried it.
Phone might have worked fine if you kept it in rice for few days immediately after it getting drenched. But now..oh well

Damn are you serious dude? The thing is though everything about my phone works perfectly now apart from the random shut downs when i"m in a call. I was thinking maybe it was a problem with my battery or sometihng being lose or the connections not being so great anymore. It charges perfectly now as well.
It's not in every call that the phone shut downs either, it's only in some calls. I've had phone calls where the phone will not shut down either.
Do you expect someone to wave a magic wand and your phone will be alright on every call.Your dealing with water and sensitive electronic equipment.A guy on here went swimming for 15 mins with his phone in his pocket, and he dried it out properly and reported no ill effects.
Other guys report slight moisture around usb port and phone acts worse than yours.
At the very least, you should be changing the battery and usb port.Any damage to the mb makes the phone a dead loss, and the phone wont have warranty as samsung checks for water damage.
If I was you I would sell it,but keep it if your not bothered about the calls problem and you cant afford about a £100 swaparound.

Only you know the extent of the damage, if you've wrecked your phone you've wrecked your phone, no point asking here.
However, the S II is pretty good when it comes to water if you take proper pre/postcautions. I've had some lonely nights with my S II where it got very wet and I can report it still works as good as the day I got it (I did have a lot of tissue paper on hand though).

First time I ever got my phone wet so everything slipped my mind. Will get a new battery and look into replacing the USB port. Just was wondering if there was anything I could do with my call problem, but I guess not anymore.
Any recommended batteries worth purchasing? I've heard that there are ones that are better than most out there but just not specifics.
Cheers for the input. I'm not too bothered with the calls problem as it works more often than not I've found.
Youll be hoping nothing else crops up or it fails if you need it in an emergency......thats how Id get rid of it.
You could maybe sell it to some unsuspecting mug.

[Q] S3 International went into sea water

Hello folks,
yesterday I got a S3 International that was dropped into the North Sea here in Germany. It was just for a few seconds submerged.
My buddy opened it and removed the battery. I told him to put it into a box with rice to dry it out.
He then went to the store and bought a new one. I took the dead phone plugged in the battery and viola it booted.
He said I can have it. Then after 3 hours the screen was dead while the device was still working. ( I got a phone call )
I decided to put it back into the box with rice over night. The Phone booted with working display this morning.
What can I do to clean all the electrical components and make sure that all moisture is gone?
Any help or tips are very much appreciated.
Thank you.
PS: I'll be off line for a couple of working hours.

My biggest concern is going to be the exposure of the electrical components to salt water... That stuff is going to become corroded rather quickly (Even with rice drying process) (Spent 13 years working on Naval Aircraft at sea... so seen the exposure many of times, its a constant battle) As for cleaning them.. mainly something to displace the water.. not sure what kinda corrosion prevention for electrical parts is available on the commercial market. we used a water displacing electrical safe spray alot. So see what is similar you might be able to find.

Try open the plastic that protects the motherboard, then use a hair dryer fom a distance and for few seconds, so the board will not heat.
It helps
Sorry for posting this in the wrong area. My bad.
Well it looks like the screen is okay, but the device shows some strange behaviour. Sometimes after turning it on it goes into download mode without holding the specific button combination.
I believe the phone is bricked. :/ edit : the device is working now. The cleaning und the hair dryer did the trick.
Thank you guys so much. Now a proud owner of a free S3.
God I love XDA.
Its so nice to hear that someone has Saved a fellow S3's Life...

Is that possible? Ram etc is separated from the mobo?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can replace it yeah. Can be expensive. Perhaps get an assessment at a mobile phone repair centre.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
I doubt it is worth repairing, replacing the mobo now and next the aerial module, then the camera etc. etc.
Salt water corrodes over time, so the problems will only get worse. Spend £300 now on a new one rather than £350 repairing that one in stages.
