Alright , this ties in with my other thread, but here is my problem.
My phone shuts off at random times of the day; when im texting someone, or whenever im just doing something on my phone.
What I notice about when it starts back up again , the batter percentage would be much lower. For an example, A reboot that just happened moments ago , my phone was at 30 % and when i rebooted it back up , it was at 16 % . and it rebooted again saying it was now at 42 % .
It get's crazy at times , when it boots back up , like on the lock screen , it reboots again.
Now this is what I have tried :
Went back to stock RUU
everytime i flash the rom (this happens with every rom except the stock rom) i do a full wipe) formatting all partitions.
not installing any kernels
reflashing the rom
fixing permissions
Im thinking that this could just be my battery being used for 4 months. Tell me what you guys think so i can get this annoying problem fixed
have you tried charging your phone to 100% and then clearing the battery stats so the rom has a good idea of what your actual battery is? or you could just get a new battery if that's an easier solution...

Ill try the first solution , and if that doesn't work , I'll just get a new battery

hi iguys,
i have some questions about the sgs 2
i got it since a few weeks and everything was fine, great battery life up to 17 hours zith light/ normal use.
i tried to flash cwm isecure kernel to flash roms, all went fine
then i found out rom manager is not yet fully compatible with sgs2
so i flashed back to stock firmware, now my battery life really sucks
with little use i can hardly get 6 or 7 hours out of it
and most of the time its just standby
i have everything off bluetooth, gps, wifi, display set to 10 percent, background sync
the only thing i have on is 3g connection..
i have better battery stats installed
and i see these 2 things always 100 percent full.
suspend/events
no matter what, theres no app draining because when i wipe everything to factory settings or through recovery, the drain remains, even with 3g off
also when i check my normal battery history,
i see 2 times android system in the stats, doesnt one need to say android os ? instead of two times system?
sorry if this is a double post, but i searched and couldnt find something similar then this.
hope you can help

You have BBS installed, good. Don't see under Processes but see under Partial Wakelocks, check which apps and processes are taking the max time. Something on background is definitely going on.
Regards.

thanks for the reply, i checked and only facebookservice, rilj, mailserver, activitymanager have a smal redd line
and all are under 2/3 percent
the rest dont even have a red line going, today i swapped my battery at the store, but i dont see any difference, yet, just draining
Nobody else here to help me ?
better battery stats shows me nothing like an app or process
thats really going crazy..
i really have no clue what i did wrong to get this terrible battery life
hmm i really don't get why though, coz I have an awesome battery life with my S2, i got at least 2 days, with alot of calls n txts in between. I use it for my music player in the car as well, n i travel quite alot.
tried recalibrating the batter?

yes i tried, i also tried to wipe battery bin file through cwm, also with no succes,
my phone is charging now, so i am going to check how the battery life is with CM7 or another rom.
do you have 3g on all the time ?
i also have a question about the connections options, do you have an option to only use 2g ? in stock rom, i dont, i remember having it on my galaxy mini
Update, the new battery i got yesterday seem to have no change in my dramatic battery life,
i flashed CM7 build 38 last night,
and still the same, it drains like hell!
Start at the beginning .
Wipe phone install stock rom wipe battery stats install
better battery stats .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Dont mess around installing roms that cannot cure a problem .
With a 100% charged phone and GPS Blutooth and Wifi OFF test overnight and look at what's waking the phone , ideal twelve hour sleep should be a 2% battery drop .

wifi sharing is not using any power on my phone
also with better battery stats, i dont see nothing unusual in the stats,
also on top of that i have watchdog task manager installed, i never get any notification from any app going crazy
i almost never use wifi because i have 3g and unlimited internet every month,
sometimes i use the gps, when im done with it turn it off
i cannot get a normal 8-9 hours with normal use,
mostly doing some facebook checking, sending some texts, a little bit of ping, checking the weather..
Hi,
I have a big problem with my phone. Sometimes it simply shutdowns just after booting. And sometimes it shutdowns if I use it in a normal way (like listening to music or browsing on Facebook) And the battery is not at 0%. It happens at each percentage. This afternoon it even happened at 85%.
The only I thing I noticed that this is not happening if the phone is connected with the power supply.
Have someone of you the same problem? Can someone help me?
Greetings
Hey there!
i also have had this issue a few times, i hear its a motherboard issue i cant tell if that is the main problem tho..
anyways try reinstalling android, i havent has any problems on my phone since i did that
Good luck

Thanks. I already changed my ROM. From CM7 I went back to Wolfbreak. But there is the same problem.
Perhaps it is a battery problem? Should I buy a new battery?
Hi,man i have that problem too,
So,i see that if i plug my charger with no battery and pull the back button then the green light appear like in flash mode.so if you pull the battery when you have this led on,your battery indicates wrong values,in another way if your battery have 5% and you pull it with this strange flashmode then it indicate 88%.
Another symptom is that you not have the long vibration when you pull
out the battery and re pull on
Another one is if you remove sim and sdcard and boot the phone then you have the right battery values and no suck on your batttery for exemple,
in this mode my battery stay at 98% 4 hour O_O
The major problem is that your phone is in flash mode all the time and eat buttery and give wrong values and give WLOD at boot, normaly one before lock and one after.
I don't know what do that but give massive battery drain, massive network usage, and
Constant reboot.
I suspect virus or something like that.
Don't lose your time to try to reflash firmware or different rom cause that not solve the problem,
I reflash 1.6 2.1 2.3 and many custom rom with no success
Tell me if you have the green led when no battery and charger pluged and pull back key repetitively for appear this led
to ensure that you have the same problem.
If I find a way a post here for sure but I think that my phone is dead :-(
I know this is a bit old but I'm necro'ing it just in case it helps someone.
I had the same issue with my stock Optimus One, I installed AOKP and it worked like a charm.
Now i've had my Xperia Neo V for a while now with a custom version of AOKP and had no problem until recently, haven't installed anything new just a couple of updates, filled a new sdcard with music and it shut down out of the blue.
if you have shutdown problemes, it can be motherboard issue, ROM or kernel. Try reinstall android OS, and if you still got shutdowns try different kernel or ROM. I tested many combination and I didnt get any shutdown with Zmod ROM + Doomkernel ( I dont want to promote this rom or kernel, just writing my personal experience) . After changing kernel and ROM you could have batery drain, or it can looks like that. Wipe battery stats and recalibrate the battery. System need some time to create good new battery stats. 2 charging cycles and is good in most cases. Battery drain depends on that how you using phone so charging every day ( once per day) is normal.
It sounds like the 'Old Battery' issue! LiPol/LiIon batteries only have a life span of about 2 years. X10 is older than that now!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619477&page=2
Post 16 onwards.
New battery fixed the problem for me. Pack of 2 and a charger on ebay for $10.
PDA:XWKL1 / Kernel: XWKL1 / Modem: XXLPW
Ive just went back to 236 from 403 flashed through ODIN.. all went great.. apps back in,, call logs, sms all restored fine, however, when I installed virgin Mobile APN from their site.. they email a config file, which you install, then I rebooted the phone to use their settings and the battery dropped from 40% to 16% in one go after a reboot, so ishut down, removed and put back battery rebooted again and it said 19%.
The battery was a little warm, but not hot.
Only apps I installed were SMS backup & Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore / Battery Widget by Elvison v303.

Forget about it and move on with your life. If you can't, ask yourself whether this sort of behaviour might have been experienced by others in the last 14 months.
That's not an actual battery drain. The battery calibration just suffered from all the flashing & rebooting. This is absolutely normal. After 2-3 charging cycles it should be back to normal.

No worries, that makes perfect sense, due to its heat up during ODIN flash, so thanks , judt never experienced it drop that much.

Hello,
After reading other threads, I've decided that I should post my case to see if I get a better answer.
A couple of days ago after being with SuperNexus 2.0 for a few months I decided to try the stock LSS ROM, I didn't like it and went back to SuperNexus again wiping the Battery Stats in the process to see if my battery life could improve (I know it's a myth, but I tried it anyway). After this my 1.2 years old battery has been crazy:
- Sometimes it will completely discharge it doesn't matter at what percentage the battery is.
- Sometimes the phone will shut down like if the battery is at 0% and it won't turn on again, but if I connect it to the charger it will show some charge (close to the one it has before the phone shut down) and the phone will turn on again. After this I can immediately remove the charger and the phone will work like normal.
What I don't like is that just before the phone randomly shuts down, the screen starts blinking and/or the phone hangs (it doesn't respond to the touch). I'm worry this could be damaging the phone itself.
Please refer to the screenshots (there is not photoshop involved, I swear).
I've tried to charge it to 100% (trying to get it as close to 4.2V as possible), I have pump charged it (disconnect/connect the charger until it doesn't drop to less than 100% immediately), reflash the ROM (wiping/format system, data, dalvik, cache, etc. the usual suspects), etc. but no luck.
I know it looks like a faulty battery, but it has never shown this behavior until I sadly deleted the Battery Stats. Will a new battery solve the problem or it will just be the same?
Any thoughts? Any help/recommendation will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Cheers.
P.S.: I have to say that before all this I was running Dori 9.14, but I ran the Kernel and the ROM wipe scripts (I know the ROM wipe runs the Kernel script too) between flashes.

Wiping Battery Stats is never a problem, people even do that to reset Battery estimates, try a reflash and a more stable kernel. As far as I know Dori 9.14 is not playing nice with some people.

Yes it sounds weird that deleting a file will screw your battery, but the coincidence here is huge, that's what I don't understand. With respect to Dori 9.14 (I only used it for a couple of weeks), yes i was running it before I did all this, I'm now running the stock Kernel that comes with SuperNexus (which never gave this kind of problems before).
I also removed the battery to see if it was maybe a faulty connection, but it stays in place very tightly.
Cheers.

i have tried calibrating the battery, wiping cache but the problem is still there.
by the way im on stock 4.3 rooted and clockwork recovery installed and nothing else.
possible solution

Sounds like a battery problem more than the software. Try replacing the battery.
Try replacing the battery. Something that is extended to handle the gaming and from a reputable source.
I am very sure somethings wrong with your battery, try taking it to a shop and let them have a look at it
GL. Recommend you try another battery
